| Good morning, too. I'm fresh (?) from my first morning cycling class. Once again, a full house and a challenging workout. I'll be beet red in the face for three hours, but my brain cells are zinging. Yes, the gel seat helps a lot, and remarkably, I'm not that sore. As for convergence, let's stick with our Saturday morning early departure. We're both morning chicks, and I'll be fresh for the drive. Enjoy a laidback Friday. And BTW, don't obsess over whether or not the new owner is "doing it right" according to your standards. Teach him what you can, and let him take the consequences of his own performance from his future customers. The contract is SIGNED. A martin house? Oh boy. When I move home full-time, I'm going to gear up for birds in my backyard, too. And it really IS spring. The daffodils and the forsythia are blooming here. Okay, we may get a cold snap yet, but it's just a snap. It's really, truly spring. And after all, only 13 days to the equinox. The hyacinth bulb on my desk has put forth its first lavender petal today. Ilse, thanks for the chuckles. I think my increased thyroid dosage is helping. That symptom of dried-out hands has already improved. As for well-woman check-ups, I have a bone density scan tomorrow. Hello and godspeed to everyone. Counting down now! |

| Good morning! I left the pool a few minutes early, so I could gas up my car. A station I saw yesterday evening for $2.31 was $2.43 today. I was in the wrong lane and didn't turn around to gas up there. I did get gas near the school for $2.33, which is as good as it's going to get right now. Many stations are around $2.49. At lunch yesterday, I stopped at Kohl's to look at towels. I saw a color I liked, but wanted to get a matching contour rug, which I didn't see there. After work, I stopped at Circuit City to return something. I got the Harry Potter movie there. I stopped at Sam's Club to return something. I looked at their optical department. Their price on lenses is good(their price includes anti-reflective, scratch coat, UV protection and something else), but there is little selection for frames. It is out of network, so I would have to think about it. I also stopped at Wal-Mart (I looked at their optical department, but their lenses are much more expensive) I didn't see towels I liked there. I also checked out another eyeglass place. Many of their frames were well over $200 (many at $229), so I didn't really look there. They did have a few at $129. Not much else new. I made an appointment to get an oil change tomorrow, something I keep putting off. We have a 1/2 day of school. I wish you all well.

| Quicky fly-by. You know, in reference to Shell's comment and Alida's response about "we are who we are....It occurs to me that if we were all "perfect" we never would have meet each other here and enjoyed the richness of this particular friendship and support. For one, I think my life would have been the poorer for it. I think accepting each other where we are in our journey, and without judgment, is the greatest gift we give.

As for well-woman checkups......... Monday I have blood tests, mammo, and a gyn visit all before noon. Done that way I only have to pay one co-pay. Since I had a bone scan last year, that's not required this time. And the colonoscopy... well, I'm just letting that slide. You know the deal, If I don't say anything maybe it will go away. Tests and projects today and tomorrow which results in lots of grading, BUT.......Only one more day of school until spring break! I can do the grading in my PJs next week.

| Hi Gang! Well, another perfect day in Paradise! The sun is shining, and the mountains are covered with clouds. Dh and I are exclaiming almost every day over the majesty of the mountains in this valley. Love it! We got a lot of packing done yesterday; and a lot of organizing. You'll remember that I am a bit of a "clothes horse." ("that's an understatement, peg") so I am having a bit of trouble figuring out what clothes to bring and what clothes to leave here. And shoes....? Oy. Alida: Try letting go, my dear. I can SO understand that the new owners are not doing it the right way. But, as Barb said, you need to let them fail. You can give them the knowledge and the tools to succeed, but if they choose not to use them, well...it's their loss. My bf bought a store from a trio of women here. The women were very well known and the store was, to all appearance, successful. She took it over and has tripled the profits in just three years! She has completely remodeled the store and has a magic way of displaying the merchandise. The point I'm trying to make is that there are still people in this town who say that they liked it better with the former owners! But, her business is booming and she brings people in from as far as 100 miles away. We laugh privately about all this. You have been so faithful in building the business with your incredible skill. Hopefully, the new owners will honor that and go on to treat it with respect. Maybe they won't. But, it is theirs to succeed or fail now. Whew! SO HARD. I know it. I often feel that way when I leave a church too. About the ofh: We told the old one we weren't coming. Met with the Executive Director. He was totally blown away. That was too bad (really!). I told him about his employee (the one who didn't welcome us). That seemed to surprise him too. I also told him about the buzz around town. He was surprised about that too. Rather clueless, huh? Anyway, our focus is now on the new one. Did I tell you that we stopped in the little village that is two blocks away from the new ofh? It is DARLING! Reminds me of Ann Arbor. There is a college consortium there in the town. Lots of activitiy, vitality, youth. Fun. Barb: I can't wait to meet you. I am hoping that some of your enthusiasm will rub off on me. Bren: Quote:
Shelley: You are the queen of housecleaners! I do know though the real pleasure that you get when it's done. It's just that I don't seem to have the energy to start it! Donna: We'll have an empty seat at the Convergence for you. I am so sorry that we won't get a chance to see you and hear your voice and chat. Boy, do I remember what it's like to push that mulch aside and see the little green promises pushing through the dirt. I can't say that I enjoy playing in the dirt, but I sure enjoy having all that color. This year since we will be selling, I am especially interested in getting some color in the beds outside the condo. So, I'll have to get dirty I guess, Sigh. Rachel: I hope you are enjoying your visit with your family. Tell your Dad that I said, "Hi!" Can't wait to see you either. Judy: Darling pic of Lexie! I continue to be intrigued with the idea of a dog. I will wait until we get settled here in SoCa again. But, everyone I talk to says how rewarding it is. I think I'm ready for that. We'll see. Of course, I have to have a cat too. Dh says, "Hey! I'm in this decision too!" And, I answer with, "Yes dear" all the time patting him on the thigh and saying to myself, "Yeah sure..." By the way, girlfriend, get ready to spill about the issues at the school! Terry: The juncos are peeping and flying around me this morning. This little male is working really hard. Makes me wonder if they have a nest somewhere near. How's the pond coming? Have you found a "proper" netting yet? We're supposed to be in for some cold and wet weather for the weekend. Today we are in the 60's, but we've had some rain. Have you had that steady rain that the weatherman shows in the North? I'm going to try and take some pics of this beautiful valley before we leave. I've got a little slide show that I've prepared for you all on my computer. I'm not going to print out the pics. I can't afford the ink right now! Love and blessings to us all this morning! I'm feeling a little better. FM is around BIG time. But, I was able to get out of bed this morning without looking like an old woman. Yesterday, I showered and makeuped and dressed. It made me feel better, even though I was in pain. I'm actually REALLY good at blocking out the pain so that others don't know, and even I don't know. Helps with this crappy disease. See y'all later, Peace, Peg

| Well.....aren't I just having fun? NOT! Ended up having to put in a new Windows program and went with XP. Now, I can't get into the programs that I need to use at the press in Vancouver. Which means I didn't get to download my files yesterday and I probably won't be able to fix my error report today which means I won't be able to upload my invoices tomorrow.....you get the picture. No wonder I went home with pains in my stomach yesterday. Big boss man just ignores it all and lets me do the worrying. Alida: Taking my "buns" with you to the convergence? lol I bet everyone would love to try them though. That's my Saturday morning treat while I watch Trading Spaces. I could really eat them everyday, but I'm sure I can find something lower carb for breaky. Shelley: Martins! A sure sign of Spring. I've seen a few robins around here and I have all kinds of green popping through the ground. It's coming...I can feel it. Remember I told you guys that my daughter in law had to have a hysterectomy. Well, she got the surgery a couple of weeks ago. Now she says she has a hernia and has to have surgery for that. I've heard stories about people who just love to have surgery and I'm thinkin' that she's one of them. Gotta bite my tongue really hard not to say anything to her. I don't want to have my visitation to my grandkids taken away again. Better go and fight with this program again. Have a good one.

| Quickie fly by... Early cases in the morning...gotta get up at 0400...ack! Will be my *pay back* day for getting 2 off in a row...LOL. Cruised over to Gordman's today. Found a few things I couldn't live without Mainly a blazing red handbag...LOL. Also a pair of capris, and 2 shirts. Then hit Kohl's on the way out of the shopping center and scored a new 12 inch non-stick skillet...a muchly needed acquisition The martins have been looking over our house; the sparrows are already trying to move in, the little beggars! DH had to take the starling-proof doors off, as the martins couldn't get into the house...<sigh> The neighbors on both sides of us has martin houses, but they don't patrol them and the starlings and sparrows are in abundance. So, it's a battle every year between the martins and the starlings(just think Hatfields and McCoys)and the martins have a hard time getting a foothold. Oh well.....we try as much as we can to help them out by evicting the sparrows and starlings, but we can't watch over them 24/7. Alida, I just wanted to mention that the Zodiac material is more like Silestone instead of Corian. I'm really leaning towards the Silestone. I'll show you the samples I have here at the house. I'm hoping to get the new countertops ordered before I go to LA....we'll see. Sorry to hit and run...gotta get my lunch and brekki ready to take to work tomorrow. Dearest friends... (((hugs to all!))) and to all a good night (yes, I'll probably hit the hay in the next 30 min or so) Shelley

| Gals, I've been scarce, I know, as far as anything in depth here. Much going back and forth today, but it seems I have a broken rib--woke up with the thing yesterday morning and thought I'd just see if it got better, LOL!!! Craziest thing, since I have NO idea what happened. Anyway, it hurts but not unreasonably, and there's nothing really to be done unless I want painkillers, which I honestly don't need. I'm a tough old broad, I tell ya! Anway, I have a workshop tomorrow so will be scarce again unless I can check in early in the am. It's frustrating to read so much that I want to comment on, but know you're all in my thoughts, ok? hugs to all!!! (And really, I'm fine)

| Brenda... o goodness! I'm so sorry about the broken rib! No falls? or banging into furniture? Heavy coughing? I guess, from reading your comments about boniva, that you already have a good endocrinologist? My former coworker had a mysterious rib break incident... She knew a place on her back hurt, but she didn't know why or go see a doctor for over a month. The cause was finally traced back to a chiropractic treatment. She was at one of those health fairs where they offer a free assessment/treatment on the spot. She had a very, very petite and very small-boned build; apparently the Dr. overestimated the force he used on her. I've awakened with soft tissue injuries many times, from sleeping wrong or nighttime muscle spasms. It's amazing how many injuries that can happen just from sleeping in a bad position or rolling over the wrong way in bed.

| Good morning! Brenda, oh no! Please take care of yourself. I am sorta paranoid over broken ribs because my father died of the pneumonia he caught at the hospital he went to after a fall which cracked a rib. He fell on Wednesday and died on Sunday. Although I do think he was "ready to go." He was only 81 but his health was failing a little and I think he wanted to be with my Mom. SO, please be careful! Going to a workshop today. Knitting? Donna, when I got my new computer (XP), it was amazing how many of my existing programs did NOT work with it. Even my old printer did not work. I was able to eventually get them all working, but with much downloading of "patches" and calling software vendors for "run-arounds." Frustrating, I know! Try calling the software vendors. It's not YOUR dime. Don't get off the phone until you KNOW it works. That's another trick I learned. A lot of times I would call and they tell me just do A then B then C. HA. Then I have to call them back because I should have done B before A. Get the picture? I don't care if the call takes an hour. I don't hang up until I SEE it works! Peg, how wonderful to get caught-up with you! Have you talked with the NEW OFH? Have you found a place there? Didn't you mention a 4-BR house a while back? Peg, it breaks my heart about your FM pain. But your attitude is so positive! I admire you. Please take care. Does your DH not want a dog? Or he just want to be involved in the decision of what kind of dog? Gee. Imagine that! Barb, OK. Original Plan. Just let me know what time and I'll be ready and raring to go! Do you want me to DO anything? Get route? Bring anything special for the road trip? How wonderful that the new thyroid meds are working! I have dry hands, too. But that's mostly because I used to have my hands in water all the time! But the report from my original CT scan did mention something about my thyroid. Also mentioned that some thyroid test was a good idea. When I asked my ENT about it, he said millions of people walk around with this and it really is not a problem. Hmm. Even if it's a LITTLE problem, it may be one reason why it's so hard for me to lose weight (other than the fact I don't exercise!) Think I may be looking for a scapegoat here? Shelley, ouch! 4 am huh? Well, you did have two glorious days off! All your talk of Martin houses and general talk on the board of Spring, does have me itching to finally DO something with our landscaping. It really is crappy. And we have an empty pole in the back yard that's just crying out for a birdhouse to sit on top of it. And the deck needs a power wash ? heck, we need a NEW deck. On and on. Oh, goody! You'll have countertop samples for us to look at! Are you ready for FOUR different opinions, LOL? And speaking of Spring weather, if anyone heard on the news about tornadoes in KC ? nah. Night before, BIG news of thunderstorms, possible hail, tornado alerts ? then nothing. A partly cloudy beautiful day. Judy, you'll be one healthy chick when we get together! I've been putting off that lovely colonoscopy, too. One problem at a time. Rachel, Terry & Ilse, HI! Yesterday I took 2 Alleve in the AM and my hip did not bother me once. Amazing stuff. The job we did went well but took about 2 hours longer than it should have. Randy brought another guy in to train. By the end of the day I was almost hoarse from talking so much. Today I visit with Ashley to train her on warranties. She mentioned she is NOT very computer/internet literate. 3M does its warranties on line. Can you say FUN? Have a wonderful day! XXOO

Ok, so now it's Thursday and now it's only one more day until Spring Break! Meeting with the Supt. is this mroning. I better go dry my hair.

| Good morning! I hope everyone is pain-free and well. (it doesn't sound like it, but one can hope) It is warm (57 this morning), but really damp today, so I imagine it's a migraine-type of day for Brenda. I am hoping to bring my DGS swimming today. We'll see, as we may get thunderstorms later. Often pools close when that happens. Yesterday, I stopped at Costco to look at eyeglass frames. I also had stopped at Burlington Coat Factory to look at towels. Today. we'll see. I wish everyone well.

| Oooo, it's an achy-breaky morning! Brenda, what a bummer. And Donna, hassling around with the computer. Y'know, I hate to say "yes" when the free upgrades pop up on my home computer, 'cause I always expect that every upgrade will disable something I can't remember how to fix. Computers! Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. Alida, I can't imagine what your computer-impaired new business owner is going to do without you. But she'll learn. And you won't be answering the phone every fifteen minutes will you!! After official hand-off training is done, YOU'RE DONE. And besides, you're leaving town. With ME. I'll see to that. I'll call you next week to nail down the details. Thyroid therapy is a controversial subject. Yes, a lot of people walk around with little or no evidence of low thyroid, even though they could be healthier with supplementation. The tests don't tell the whole story either. I don't think thyroid issues have much bearing on my weight management situation, but I've been on a supplement for decades, through many ups and downs, so it's hard to tell. Shelley, I'm imagining YOU as a purple martin, swooping here and there, busy nesting and all a-twitter. That's a good thing. Can't wait to meet you. Take care everybody. You never know. |

| Hi Gang! Oh Brenda! I'm so sorry about your rib! Gotta watch those healthy hugs, huh? I DO know that there is nothing to be done except time. (((((gentle hugs))))))) What's the workshop about?? I'll bet its knitting. Alida: I do not envy you trying to teach someone how to use the computer. I do that with dh almost every day. I do ALL my composing and writing at the computer (Mother insisted that I learn typing in school. It's been invaluable). I tease dh that he does all his composing and writing with a stylus a hammer and a piece of stone. Good luck today! Barb: You are sounding chipper today. Do have a good day. What are you working on these days? Shel: Sounds like you are getting excited about renovations. I am too, and ours are a year away. We will take whatever they have that comes available after we are "qualified" by a committee of the residents. One of the things that we like about the place is that, much like a good church, it is run by several committees of residents. There is an administration, but they, too, are directed by a central committee of residents. About admission: they work hard to maintain diversity in residency, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, denomination. All residents are retired ministers and missionaries. Very interesting group of folks, many of whom we already know from our years in the ministry! Judy: Let us know how your meeting with the supt goes. I suspect that we all have stuff to tell each other in person that we can't talk about on the "Internet." I know I do. Donna: I do hope that you have your computer woes settled. I really hate it when that happens. I like Alida's suggestions. Takes a while, but then it works. My bf has some of that same trouble with her store computer. She is still using Windows 97 because she has hundreds of software programs for fancy printing that would have to be upgraded to use them if she changed. At least that is the story she tells me. She, also, is computer challenged. Rachel: Hope the visit is going wonderfully! Terry: How're you doing today? How's your FM? Mine is still lurking. Feels just vaguely like the flu today. My neck and shoulders are just like a vise. I had dh rub them the other day but it made it worse. I'm trying to measure out my pain pills carefully so that I have enough for the trip home. ------------------------------------------------------------ Well, gang, another day in Paradise. But, the sky is cloudy getting ready to rain tomorrow and Saturday they way. I'll believe it when I see it. Dh flies to AZ tomorrow night for the funeral of his nephew (he's doing it). He'll be back on Saturday night. We are packing today. I'm trying to decide which of my winter clothes I can do without until we return in the fall. Trouble is: I don't know what weather we will encounter going across the U.S. Yesterday I did a little bit of shopping. Got some new underwear (need to do that little chore once in a while). And some other things not worth mentioning. Today I'm going to try to get my "trip" pedicure. We'll see. Still tossing around the idea of a full set of nails for the trip. Can't decide. I hear you about being connected to your manicurist at the hip. I did that for years. I DO know what a pain it is. I would probably take them off when I get home. Of course, I would need at least one fill on the trip. Sigh. What to do? Talked to the pastor of a big church near my hometown yesterday. He needs a sabbatical interim and I am a candidate. It sounds interesting. It is half time. June, July, and August. More I'll tell you when we see each other. See y'all Peace, Peg
