Now back to true confessions for the night.......... yep, this is the kind of day that sabotages an effort to lose.

Calories: 1709, Net Carbs: 37, Water: MDR (min. daily requirement) Coffee: way to much, and today I had a diet DP for the first time in 3 days. And then there was.....

Breakfast: same as yesterday ( and most days)
Lunch: Taco Salad (Lettuce, ground beef, cheese, taco sauce, ranch dressing and pork rinds for crunch)
Snacks: A couple of handfuls of peanuts
Dinner: 3 ribs, another pumpkin thingie, SF jello and some cool whip. Yes, I said Cool Whip. I hereby admit that I eat Cool Whip and don't bother to whip cream. It's not a new discretion. I've done it since day one. I saw that they had a SF version out now. Maybe I can get Bobby to hook me up with some the next time he goes to the grocery. I don't do windows and I don't do groceries.

Did I ever give you guys the pumpkin thingie recipe.........

  • 1 can (16 oz) pumpkin --- not pie filling
  • Use the empty pumpkin can and fill 3/4 full with flax seed and finish off with bake mix. I've done it all the way with flax seed, I just happen to have bake mix, and it does improve the texture some.
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • a healthy dose (to your taste) of cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or ginger
  • about 10 packets of Splenda (I use the packets because that's what I have)
  • 2 t. baking powder
Mix all together and store in an air tight container in fridge. I know it keeps a week. I always finish off the bowl by that time. The baking powder does play out as the week goes on. I cook one at a time in the microwave by spooning about 1/3 cup batter into a 1/2 cup tupperware dish. Microwave on high for a minute and a half. Dump out upside down so that the bottom can dry some. Add nuts or cream cheese to the batter just before baking if desired.

Teel...poor Big Red...but what a fighter, eh? Do you plan to add any more fish, or are you at *full capacity*?
Oh, yeah, Big Red (SUuUPER Red!) - he's totally amazing... as strong as 10 bears! Yes, I'll "re-stock" the pond later in the year. It seems there's an actual "pond season" - late spring and summer. The clerk at Dolphin Pet looked positively horrified when I tried to buy some fish out of season a few months back.

Brenda, I'm not really looking for a high end egret decoy, but I don't want to order something on Ebay, and then have it look totally cheesy. If it's gonna be cheesy, I want to know up front, LOL!

First breakfast: flax/whey protein cereal, a couple cups of coffee with haf-n-haf.
Second Breakfast: small pumpkin/whey protein smoothie
Lunch: roast beef sandwich on a homemade flaxseed bun w/mayo and mustard.
Snacks: peanuts
Dinner: roast beef, cauli mash, green beans and little scallop squashes with butter and parmesan, green salad with ceasar dressing. 1/4 cup strawberries and cream for dessert
Bedtime frothy (1/4 cup of warm haf-n-haf frothed with Thicken/Thin and splenda)

The menu is repetitious because I cooked a lot more food than usual over the weekend. No counts, but I can tell it's too much food. My waistband is staying tightish.

hello folks. i come and peek in over here from time to time.

anyway, i noticed your quest for a song...are you familiar with nicole simone's feeling good? they used to play it on six feet under commercials...it just came to mind, because that's one that makes me feel good when i listen to it and captures that positive, free feeling for me...

anyway, please resume your regularly scheduled conversations. peace and love to all, from that blues-loving hippie goddess chick!

Hey all, as usual? am so far behind you ? in just one day!

Hi Goddess? always welcome? who won your recipe contest?! And how is the losing with Lisa program going?

Judy ? I LOVE Spinning Wheel? excellent choice? Sorry Peg, I would pay you loads to keep anything by ABBA in the LP sleeve, ugh. BUT, since I love you , I guess I?ll suck it up.

Almost anything by Three Dog Night makes me happy but Road to Shambala makes me absolutely joyful! Now I can think of Shambala as 125 pounds, right?!

I think it?s a riot that you?re typing away as your class sweats an exam. Ha!

I?m working on getting a tape of the show when it is aired? we?ll see? (Alida, the interview and the whole show was in English ? the Emcee is a German married to a Georgian who has a show here on Georgian television in English. (?) Yeah, don?t ask)

It is Wednesday and I am still suffering for my indiscretions with the cheesecake this past weekend. at 143 and holding steady?

I host the choral group tonight ? but will make something I?m not dying to eat ? it?s easy that way. :cook:

Barb, Alida? nuts are also my biggest downfall by far. I just miss having something to munch on at my desk and it?s so easy? <<sigh>>

Alida, I hope you found someone to take that big job?

Terry, thanks for the spinach recipe?it looks fantastically easy and yummy too ? thanks! Never thought there was a, uh, ?pond? season? hmmmmm.

Peg, I?m thinking about trying Diet Power ? can I try it for free like a trial version first?

Barb, I?m one of those who has to have complete silence when I?m working my brain ? especially no music ? even that Quaaluded stuff like the Winston music? it is complete and total distraction. I don?t even like music at dinner (at home) unless it is so low I can put it out of my head. My musical DH says this is because I cannot hear music and not ?participate? in it. He?s right ? I?m 100% or nothing ? can?t find the in-between.

Donna, LoL on the men and closets!! Oh too funny? yeah my summer clothing closet is looking more and more like DH?s work shirt closet? hmmm.

Shelley, great idea on the donation of food ? I already have plans to give it all to my friend Cathy who will pass it along to the people in the kitchens at the local women and children?s jail. Don?t ask, it's pathetic.

Judy, you and I have very similar tastes in music, I can see? I would love to get a copy of that music compilation? can I send you money for the disc and the trouble? If you sent it to my parent?s? address ? it?d get to me in a couple of weeks.

LOVE THE GORGEOUS PEG PIC!

Numbers, ugh? weighed in this am at 143, then walked 3.7 miles on the treadmill. Yesterday?s cals were: 1241 and the carbs were too low? I always manage between 50-70 ounces of water but that?s in addition to the usual 2-3 18 oz mugs of green (or other herbal) tea.

I had a single fried egg for b?fast, DH made bacon? going to eat lunch now (spinach salad maybe), dinner, who knows? maybe leftover sesame chicken I made last night (recipe from this website ? good stuff!)

Love you -

Hi, Goddess. Nice to see you! Welcome to pop in anytime. We're combining nostalgia with a quest for some theme music. Boy, am I not good at that game. My music history is eclectic and riddled with CRS. Do you ever drop in on Four Fried Chickens and a Coke? Great blues and R'n'R band in KC area.

Peg--definitely a beauty, and smashing in red. Great picture! And thanks, Judy, for the pumpkin thingie recipe. I have a version somewhere, but I don't think I've ever seen it measured "by the can." Very simple. I'm gradually eating my way through the batch of zucchini muffins, and pumpkin is in the line-up.

I'm here earlier than usual, 'cause I do cycle class at 5:30 a.m. Wed, and I like to get some food in my tummy--not to mention caffeine--as much beforehand as possible. Of course, I still have food in there from last night. DH grilled swordfish steaks over charcoal, with a Tuscan sweet red pepper sauce to die for. With the usual salad, and asparagus on the side, I stuffed myself.

Teel, now we know about "pond season." Wish I could help in the egret search. My "pet" is a cement pelican I bought at the beach one year. I was going to put him on the front walk, but fearing pelican-nappers, sat him on the hearth instead. He seems content enough--never moves an inch.

BTW, my thigh muscles are definitely getting rock hard. Trouble is the fluff on top. But I'm not going to whine. I'm doing everything I can to be fit, and that's that.

Now...brush teeth (ready for gritting!), pack up gear, off to class. I'll be out of the office this afternoon, doing a special "creative renewal" event at the art museum. Catch you this evening.

P. S. To Rachel--posting simultaneously from across the globe! I normally cannot listen to music and write at the same time. Never do it. I can't understand the folks in my dept. who always work with earphones on, even with only tunes. You have a great day...er, evening.

Good morning!

I got up very late today and the thread is so long (and interesting)! I have some Glass Scapes work to do (work on a leaded design for 4 cabinet doors) that I must get to the customer today. My FOURTH treatment is today, too. For some reason I feel overwhelmed. I'll return this afternoon.

Here's one from the FIFTIES, when music was simple. Judy, I got this one from Napster before they closed it down. Miss that, too!

Maybe - The Chantels

Maybe, if I pray every night
You'll come back to me.
Maybe, if I cry everyday
You'll come back to stay.
Ohhhh, maybe...

Maybe, if I hold your hand,
You will understand,
And maybe, if I kissed your lips
You'll be at my command.
Ohhhh, maybe...

I've prayed and prayed
To the Lord
To send you back my love,
But instead you came to me
Only in My dreams

Maybe if I pray every night,
You'll come back to me.
Maybe If I cry every day,
You'll come back to stay.
Ohhhh, maybe.

And this one from the LOW CARB POLICE:

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

O can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I keep crying baby please

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Hi Gang!

We're off to Jamestown to visit history today. So, I need to keep this short. I LOVE the posts so far.
Gosh, I love it when we are chatty! Now........I guess I didn't catch the part where we were looking for a theme song. I though we were looking for songs to put on a CD for each other. (Blush) I like everyone's contributions. Mine s*ck.

Goddess: Great to see you! Stop in any time. I LOVED Six Feet Under. Was so sorry to see it go off the air.

We've been eating LC for a few days, and other than the pralines, I've been doing rather well. I was, well, how can I say this...........confined to the bathroom last night for a little while. Explained my upset tummy yesterday. Today I feel lots better. I wonder if my upset is, instead, my bod just wondering what the h*ll is going on with this healthy food? He he

I'll be back to post after we get back. I need to get my b*tt in gear and get ready to go.

Judy: Will you please delete that pic!!! It's the one that Andrea had posted on the front page for so long. I got really sick of myself. It's also when I was nearly at goal. In that way, it's nice to see. Actually I sent a copy to each of my dgkids so they would have me to put in their rooms., I don't see them, you know, so I don't want them to forget me. (ha!)

Peace, Peg

You aren't alone Kim, I missed it too.

Here's yesterdays menu, while I think about it:

Breakfast: 1 mock danish, 3 piece bacon, tea with splenda
Snack: 1/2 Atkins bar
Lunch: Taco salad, tea with splenda
Snack: 1/2 Atkins bar
Dinner: Leftover roast, salad.
Snack: small zuccini muffin with butter, 1 weiner, 1 piece cheese

Lots of water and 2 diet coke.

Love the theme songs ladies. I know all kinds of the oldiest, but of course none of the names are coming to be right now. CRS\

The funeral went fine yesterday. Dd was really nervous about going, but was glad that she did. Gave her closure. Tea was held at the sister of the fellow that passed away, and she was so welcoming and gracious. Dd had sad with her while the search and rescue team was out looking so I think they felt a kind of bond. Now the healing begins for all of them.

Shelley: If you are having problems with night time snacking, could you move the desert to maybe 7 p.m. and have it then? Just a thought. We never have desert at our house but maybe it wouldn't seem like dinner is finished if you don't have it?

Peg: Have a good day in Jamestown. Not many sleeps now and you will be home. Any more thoughts to maybe getting yourself a pup?

Terry: Thanks for the hint re the flaxseed. I'm going to try it. I really want to be able to have those OMM's. So, just start with a little flaxseed and gradually add more, eh? (oops, the canadian just slipped in with the "eh")

Rachel: I'm sorry, I know you said not to ask, but what is the women's and children's jail? I can understand women, but children? (ha...I beat you Alida, I know you would want to know). Good for you on the walking, my treadmill is downstairs gathering dust.

Ilse: Where are you? I've noticed you haven't posted for a few days. Not caught inside a mall are you?

Alida: It's almost over....definitely thinking about you today. Hope you're remembering to take some time just for you.

Weigh in day for Sora again today and she's lost another 1/2 pound. That's 1 pound in 2 weeks. It's getting more exciting for me to weigh my dog than it is to weigh myself.

Yesterday we hit record temperatures again. And, it's supposed to happen again today. Gotta love it. Had the sprinklers going when I got home and was able to walk the dogs without a coat on. That sun felt so good on my skin! Then after getting dinner ready, I went outside and spent an hour in the backyard just puttering. The grass is getting pretty green now (minus the circles made by 2 little dogs!)

Hope everyone has a great day today...I plan on it.

Oh, I remember your Pelican! The picture of Santa Pelican ~sans pants (ala Daffy Duck)~ was very droll! You might have ...um... been impressed with a pair of 7-ft tall painted pelicans at Jan de Luz. DH asked if I thought one of those bad boys would serve as a good pond guardian. Maybe, only there'd have been little room for anything else! But, hey, if any of you do see some likely looking egrets, let me know. This is my first egret quest, after all.

We are jumpin' with hot tunes, aren't we? Some I don't know, my high school years being rather too classically inclined, but I admit trying to make up for it in college. I'll have to see ifI can take a brief listen t the unknowns on iTunes. Need something to make me jump and shout.

Dad has ventured off to Arkansas for a few days in his new, yes, I said new car......remember the little 2-seater BMW Z4 I couldn't believe he bought last fall? For Chicago as an only car??? GONE. I'm dying to say "I told you so," but am zipping my lip, ok, zipping it for the moment anyway <insert litle devil emoticon here>. I thought that one would last about 6 months and wish I'd had money on it, LOL.

Knitting Note: Ok, it's taken me two evenings of after bedtime frustration to learn the German Twisted Cast-on. Now "casting on" is just putting the base stitches on the needle, so how hard could a cast-on be??? Well, this one is the German Twisted which must have been invented by a Twisted German, that's all I'm gonna say. Like playing cat's cradle with pointy sticks. Another fine skill learned to add to the vast repertoire of things I can't make money doing

Hi Goddess, jump in here any time. Always room for friends. My blues repertoire is pitifully lacking, but I love any "my man done me wrong" songs and blues expresses that sentiment best, I think.

LOL Alida, the Low Carb Police! Ya know, you have every right to feel overwhelmed right now. Perfectly and absolutely understandable. Just take one thing at a time and let everyone in your life give you a little support instead of your taking care of everyone else, ok?

Peg, that's a gorgeous picture of you. I'm sorry if it makes you sad, but it makes me very happy to see you in red, with such a great smile. Enjoy Jamestown.

Judy, thanks for the final pumpkin thingie recipe. I like the "measuring can" and I'll try it with the bake mix, too, since I now have some and really haven't decided what to do with it. So nice to see you popping in more yesterday

Donna, I'm glad the funeral went well and that your daughter seems to have found some comfort. Very sad situation for everyone, but I hope a turning point for your daughter...

Wow, Sora's really losing. I'd be excited, too. I think her loss will start slowing down now, but it's exciting to know you are impacting her health so positively.

Rachel, love to see your chatty posts when I get up, which this morning was, hmmm, REALLY late. However I have the excuse of a mini-migraine last night, undoubtedly brought on by a Twisted German (see above )

Ok, ok, German married Georgian, show in English, got it....weird, but got it. When you get that tape, though, you'll have to send let a copy make its rounds to us.

Terry, pond season? Ok. Another lesson learned by us both, then!
Quote:
If it's gonna be cheesy, I want to know up front, LOL!
LOL, Yes! Exactly!

Barb, I am reqretting so much that I let my club membership lapse. I always felt I could push harder in a group. Saving my pennies to renew membership this fall when my current Curves obligation lapses. Tell us about your creativity gig tomorrow, ok?

Shell, visualizing you at work, having a good day. Hope that's true!!

Kim, heh heh. Gotta be quick around here!

Off now to do something useful. Pay bills and maybe start spring yard clean-up... see ya!

hey all...

in answer to your question, rach-

dan's chili won the recipe contest. there wasn't a lot of participation in general or votes, but that's ok. i did get a few recipes in the database and a few new site visitors, which is the main idea. next time i try a contest, i'll make it easier to participate, i think.

and i'm sending out magnets to everyone who contributed. (so send me your snailmail addy rach, and i'll send you one, too! i appreciate the recipe you submitted.) here is the magnet...my idea of funny, anyway.

the team lisa stuff has been up and down, from my perspective. some of the members are struggling, which, of course, is not suprising. if you do the same things you've always done to try to lose weight, you run across the same problems you've always had, you know? it's frustrating to me sometimes because i KNOW this can be so much easier and more livable that ww and low-fat. but i also want for them to succeed, so i'm giving them my best attitude adjustment advice, support and suggestions outside the nutritional realm. but like i told barb the other day, my plan is to quietly plug lc in a very low-key kind of way, and if anyone's ready for it, they'll have that info available, you know?

and i just found out that the youngest member, just turning 18, is in the hospital! she had sudden, unexplained and painful brusing all over. i guess it's called vasculitis. so that was sad to hear. i guess she's doing ok, though and is in good spirits. they don't really know what causes it a lot of the time.

barb- i totally missed the nostalgia angle on the songs! i do like to stop by here, but you folks are so prolific, i cannot keep up with ya. i did go ahead and post the song i was talking about on my blog, though, so you can hear it if you're so inclined.

anyway, just thought i'd say hello. i do like checking in on you all from time to time. take care, everyone!
