Goddess, that is a GREAT magnet - sure to be a classic!

The elephant brings to mind a plaque I saw in a gift shop years ago. It featured the rear-end view of an unshorn sheep with the sheeps' scowling face just peaking back over her shoulder. The caption, "Ewe's not fat - ewe's FLUFFY!"

I often think of that when I catch sight of my rear-view in a mirror.

Hi Gang!

Terry: I've seen your rear view! You are gorgeous! Darlin' you and Brenda and Alida would tie for being the "little" people here! Don't even try to get away with anyone believing that you have a big a**.

Goddess: So good to see you. YOU can't keep up? Most of us can't keep up either!! But, somehow we do.....

Donna: I'm envying your warm weather. We are nicely cool here in Virginia Beach. It is not warm by any stretch, but it isn't snowin' either! For that I am glad!

Judy: Thanks for deleting the pic. Now, delete it from your computer. It's been around long enough. You know, I think I have lost some weight. My clothes are a little bit better. I think I look a little bit better. But,then my body image is not good.

Bren: Hmmmm. I'll need to hear more about that German stitch!

Geez! Now, dh has dinner ready to put on the table and I have to go.

My dsil called this afternoon to say that my dd3 is having an emergency appendectomy this afternoon. She should probably be out of surgery by now. They did it laproscopically. This is the one who lives in SoCa. I would appreciate your prayers for her.

He's supposed to call when she is out of surgery and tell me how it went. I'm sure that he is waiting now to see her in her room.

Peace, Peg

It's dangerous to delay checking in at this thread. Stuff adds up!

Teel, you have a great memory. I'd forgotten all about the Santa Pelican pics. Think I'll pass on the 7-ft version.

Peg, hope things go well with DD3. Appendix problems are a real surprise.

Donna, you are being very supportive in a difficult situation. Hang in there.

The afternoon at the art museum was refreshing. We had a personal introduction to the Photography Collection by the curator. Then we were on our own to reflect and write.

Oops. The chef is serving dinner. Back in a while.

Oh Peg, I know you regret not being in CA to be able to help out with the kids. This time next year that won't be a problem. Prayers for you both.

Alida, thinking about you as you have finished treatments. I'm praying that they were unbelievingly successful.

Teel, I love your reference to 2nd breakfast. It's very Hobbit like.

Barb and Rachel, I'm another one of those people that wants to work in silence. I cannot stand having a class that has "free time". The noise level gets beyond my tolerance level.

Donna, so sad for your daughter. I hope that something positive comes from the experience -- like being scared straight!

Brenda, sorry about the headache.

Shelley, hope your week is going well

Girls, I think I got lost in the postings today. As I read, I had things in mind to say, and now that I'm here and those posts were two or three pages back, I can't remember. Goddess, don't feel bad that you can't keep up. You can sink fast around here. As president of the CRS sorority, I think I'll have to let the day pass by saying that you all should receive well deserved hugs.

So, my damage for the day = 1370 calories and 45 net carbs.
Breakfast--same old thing
Lunch -- hamburger patty topped with a little non-LC barbecue sauce, cheese, and mushrooms. Some raw babcarrots and ranch dressing on the side.
Snack-- nuts and another Pumpkin thingie (I should turn yellow like a baby I eat so much of that stuff)
Dinner -- A mission tortilla wrapped around the scrapped off tops of two pieces of pizza. Just to dress it up I threw in a little extra Mozzarella. Dessert = jello and cool whip. ---A really gourmet meal for sure, I was dealing with an email issue. Like I said, a few days back, Maybe if I posted what I ate it would embarrass me enough to cook and eat right.

Peg, I hope you've gotten word that DD3 is okay after her surgery. I didn't realize they could do that laparoscopically - what a wonder of modern medicine.

Judy, it looks like a tasty and nutritious menu to me; and that's the important thing. Menus don't have to be gourmet or high-end or "classy" to leave you feeling well and satisfied.

Had a damaging post-dinner run-in with the peanuts.

Brekkies - Flax/whey protein cereal, coffee w/haf-n-haf
Second brekkies - a small whey protein/peanutbutter shake
Lunch - brocolli with a little browned butter and mizithra cheese, hard boiled egg
Dinner - roasted chicken, mixed veggies with yougurt cheese, salad and salsa, frozen blueberries and strawberries blended with cream and water for soft-serve ice cream

Then... peanuts... sigh... yes, sometimes I would feel deprived if I didn't just munch. Clearly, same old issues. You can bury them, but they're still there waiting for a crack to rear their heads through. Rather ugly metaphore, I'm afraid.

There was sporadic sunshine in the afternoon. Everyone was commenting on it. That's rather sad considering the state's reputation for fine weather.

Hi beautiful ones? ya know, I don?t like being so far out here ? I miss all the interaction and posts while I?m in bed ? then when I?m up in the morning I have no one to ?talk to??

Still at 143 ? I?m not going to post weight again until I can post something different (hopefully, less)? My arms and abs are killing me this morning (after a couple of days of the plank (Bren, I blame you for teaching us that one))?so I?m talking a day off of walking ? will return tomorrow morning.

Donna, so sorry for your DDs pain ? but it can be a wake up call? poor thing!

Tbilisi has a Women?s and Children?s jail ? the ?inmates? are street children and itinerant women (many are roma or what we?d call gypsy)? the police here have quotas and so they arrest children and women for things like ?alleged? robbery of things like amounts of money less than a dollar. The place is horrible, they are in cement cells, no outside light. They are allowed outside once a day to an area about the size of the average American dining room. There isn?t much we can do from outside but food is a big thing. We can?t take books or toys for the kids because the jailers take the toys home to their own children ? it?s way worse than the orphanages ? which are pretty pitiful, too. <<sigh>> don?t get me started? it?s so sad.

Record temperatures? We had some warm but it?s been cool here (high 40s) during the days ? and rain, jeez-o-man it was been raining so much (April showers bring May flowers, I know, I know..)

Brenda, the Germans are the world?s sadists, remember? (I have a lot of German heritage so I feel I could say that, if I offended anyone, I apologize!) If I get a tape of the show and it isn?t terrible (oh yes, that caveat!) I?ll send it out to you all to round-robin.

Judy, I am making the pumpkin stuff today? DH will love it ? he?s a big pumpkin fan and he really needs to get back to the exercise and eating right, and having stuff he likes around will help. Besides, pumpkin is so so so good for you? and with the flaxmeal, girl, it?s like a vitamin muffin!!

Dixie (it is Dixie, no?)? LOVE the magnet?(I?ll PM you my snail mail address) and I wish I had posted many more recipes, frankly? I was traveling for most of the time the contest was running ? I know that?s a bad excuse ? but I actually lost two recipes that I was halfway through posting, got frustrated and stopped. I always felt bad that I couldn?t add any of the nutritional info ? such a burden on you then.. ugh! But I?d participate again if you run another one!

Peg, much positive energy to your DD3 ? She?s lucky they caught it and that they can do it by lap. My thoughts are with her?

Had mine out at age ten ? probably by a surgical intern who left me with a HUGE 4? scar ? thank you very much (not that I have ever been a bikini-wearer but still )

Terry, ?post-dinner run-in with the peanuts? Man, I have so BEEN there? Wish I could get frozen blueberries?<<sigh>>

Ok gals, I?m off to have a day? hope to see some of you later before bed? We are singing again this evening at a American academy (Georgian high school run like an American high school by an American principal, etc..), so I?ll check in after that..

Terry, your menus sound really appealing to me. I haven't been eating much dairy, but I used to enjoy yogurt, and maybe should add some back in. What's "mizithra" cheese? Sounds magical.

Judy, I'm the worst at responding to everyone's posts. Combination of CRS and laziness. I don't know how to get a double window going, and clicking back and forth between posts and Reply is tedious. Wait a sec. I just now see that I DO have a double window going! Serendipity. (I'm not sure that discovery will improve my response performance.)

Rachel, sometimes your posts appear while I'm writing in the morning. Remind me of the time difference--maybe we are in synch after all. Hope we get to see/hear some of your music one of these days.

I knocked off the alarm and overslept for a little while this morning--so decided to skip the early workout. When that happens, I figure my body is giving me a message. I'll "take a hike" at lunchtime.

Alida, how are you doing after your long day yesterday? Your posts always sound so matter-of-fact and unflapped. I believe I'd be whining a bit more if I were in your shoes. Take care of yourself.

DH has been getting ready for dinner guests (tomorrow) for two weeks. I'm going to try baking an LC pound cake tonight. After giving away THREE bundt pans from my dad's kitchen, I realize I could use one. So...off to buy a bundt pan after work. I think company cake should look pretty.

Hope the road's not too bumpy for anyone today, including and especially our road-trippers.

Good morning!

Sorry about the deleted message. I typed "good morning" then hit submit instead of go advanced.

Peg, you did not post a follow-up on your granddaughter. I do hope all went well. Appendectomies should be a no-brainer, but any hospital procedure can be worrisome.

Your clothes feel a little looser? That's great! By the time your back in MA, you should be raring to go!

How was Jamestown?

Brenda, sent you a PM.

A German stitch? And casting-on was confusing? Leave it to the Germans!

Sorry you had a mini-migraine. Hope it's gone with the wind now.

I have to go back and find the post where you talked about the sauce you had on the Tilapia. I remembered it sounded delicious and LC!

What kind of car did DDad get? Something more apropos to Chicago winters, I hope! (And good for you for keeping the "I told you so" to a minimum).

Donna: LOL. Yup, that would have been one of my questions to Rachel (about the jail). We are on the same wave length.

The funeral for your DD's friend sounds like it was very healing and comforting. I am also glad you went with her. I am sure she was grateful for your support.

Sora is doing so well! Thank goodness it was nothing more than perhaps an allergy to something in her old food.

KC is starting to get some warmish weather. Unfortunately, my "going out" consists of going to the hospital and back. And since I can't wear a bra (and just don't want the hassle of wearing one then taking it off/on) I HAVE to wear a jacket. The old girls drop down to my waist. Not a pretty sight.

Survivor tonight!

Judy, I have to go back and print your Pumpkin recipe, too. It sounds so simple. Leave it to you to simplify a recipe while making it better at the same time! You da QUEEN.

I also prefer "working" in silence. If music is on in the background, I find I always switch gears and the music takes over and I have to get up an dance! It's also hard staying still during my treatments. I play a CD of oldies I made myself. Lots of toe-tapping music. At least I can keep the beat with my fingers!

Shelley, how ya doing?

Barb, were you able to get some inspiration yesterday at The Nelson? It was The Nelson, right? I haven't been there since the remodel. The window tinter in me shudders at the new glass addition.

Rachel, the poor Romany's. They seem to get the bad end of the stick. Perhaps with some justification? But nothing justifies such horrid conditions. Sort of brings back visions of starving children being put in jail for stealing a loaf of bread. I remember when I worked at Saks. There were certain codes that were flashed to all employees. One of them was "Gypsies in the Store!" They did try to steal quite a bit of stuff. Not "real" gypsies, either.

LOL at the English interview with a Georgian/German couple! Ditto last night's Georgian concert at an "American" academy! It would be wonderful if you could get a copy to share!

The Plank? I vaguely remember that one. I do remember that I couldn't figure it out. Brenda, do you mind posting that again?

Terry, what do you use as the liquid in your smoothies? The Whey/PB one sounds good! I also remember your posting that instant LC "ice cream" recipe, which I have used in the past with frozen strawberries, then completely forgot about it. I have got to write down these little quick gems and keep the list on my fridge.

Egret quest? I have a picture in my mind of a metal egret sculpture. Is that what you were thinking of?

"ewe's not fat, ewe's fluffy!" That is GREAT!

Dixie, it's just wonderful seeing a post from you! Know what you mean about not being able to keep up. I am here once sometimes twice a day and have trouble, too!

Your magnet is WONDERFUL!! And it's the truth, too. One's A$$ always knows.

I hear you about Team Lisa. Wasn't one person doing low carb on the team? I read Lisa's article a few days ago -- the one where she gained a few pounds. I cringed. And I kept wanting to yell "LOW CARB!" It's good that you're there, imparting some basic low carb principles. Maybe they will click.

Kim, it's great hearing from you, too!

___________

Yesterday's treatment was a bit of a hassle. They had to stop mid-stream and re-boot the computer! Then they had to stop and re-align my neck. Then they had to stop and re-align my body. But I am glad they know what they are doing!

My last treatment may have to be re-scheduled. They have a new patient who may require my time slot. Glad to share!

I also heard from the ENT nurse yesterday about my parotidectomy operation. SIGH. Not until May 13th. I guess the problem is finding a 2-hour time slot in the Surgicenter's schedule. She told me most operations were 1/2 to 1 hour long. They also have to have something called a NERVE MONITOR on hand. Can I begin to tell you how nervous this is making me? She also told me I have to stop taking all "blood thinners" TWO WEEKS prior to the operation. And -- get this -- you know what they consider a blood thinner now? GREEN TEA. Also, anything HERBAL. Plus, all VITAMINS. Sure hope I don't get a bleeping headache during that time. Of course, no aspirin, no ibuprofen. What will I do about my hip pain? I've got to ask them about Alleve.

Have a GOOD DAY, everyone! Much love to you all.

Hi gang....

Side note to Alida...they will most likely tell you NO Alleve. Extra strength Tylenol is the safest to take prior to surgery.

I'll be back later to post. Electrician coming today to help with light design for the kitchen reno. I'll be sooooo glad to be rid of those *buzzing and humming* flourescent(sp?) lights!

(((hugs to all)))

Oh, Alida, gads how awful to have to elimate EVERYTHING you listed. I keep thinking "you've got to be kidding!" I suppose they are just covering all the bases, but some of that seems like overkill. Hope Aleve will be ok. Boy, that's a long time to wait for the surgery, too, isn't it? Maybe they'll have some cancelations and will be able to do it sooner? Gotta say, I'd probably be freaked if the procedure had stopped that many times yesterday. But LOL at the girls dropped to your waist. Aw heck, they deserve a little freedom once in a while

Oops, now I see Shell's new post--no Aleve probably. Rats.....

Alida, this is very, very close to the recipe used by the make and take place for the tilapia. I think there was more mayo/less butter and I don't remember using celery salt, though. It's very pretty broiled up, I must say. HTH
http://seafood.allrecipes.com/az/BrildTilpiPrmsn.asp

And Dad's new car? A Lincoln Zepher. Not my kind of car, but will be better in winters.

Barb, you MUST tell us DH's menu for the dinner and which cake recipe you are going to use. Sounds like you'll have a lovely evening.

Oh Rachel, that jail sounds horrid. It saddens me terribly. I don't understand the human race, honestly.

On another note, yes, I had visions of a large frau whacking me on the knuckles as I struggled with this cast-on

Have a wonderful sing "tonight!"
