| I was typing away on my post this morning when the screen went black. Aaack! Turns out the cat had knocked out the plug, and the laptop ran out of juice. Quickly remedied. Whew. Teel, what a luxurious weekend. I felt good just reading about it. Hope the egret works out. Donna, that's great about relocating the osprey nest. Where my sister lives in the Colorado mts., some developers let an old power pole stand on their new golf course, because it had held an osprey nest for many years. We can watch them through a telescope. You're a faithful fan to sit through that kind of weather. Sorry about your DDs. Funny how we all resist what's good for us in one way or another--but for some, the consequences are far more serious. Take care of you. Ditto, Shelley. The new kitchen will be worth the trouble. Looks like I've used up my early time. Peg, I won't tell anyone you're "over there." Alida, Rachel, Ilse, lurkers...have a healthy day. |

| Morning Alida, Barb, Judy Alida, hope your hip doesn't get unbearably painful while you are off meds. I'm sure that's got to interfere with your rest, as well as daily activities. Did Bob give you good report on his night? Barb, cat-induced power outage. That makes me smile. I'm almost certain cats do at least half of what they do intentionally, then watch in silent amusement. Judy, Hugs! Don't forget to take care of yourself this week while you are taking care of Ddad's situation. While I'm glad to learn that crisis will not befall the rest of us, I'm not sure I'm at all happy that it's your crisis that keeps us safe. To everyone else, "good morning!" ____________ I'm not sure what the rest of the day will bring here, other than misc tasks--oh, and making an appointment for my car with the dealer. Pesky engine light has come on for some reason. Some sunshine today--hope it lasts long enough for me to take the tomatos back outside. They don't make the best looking house plants.....

| Hi Gang! Color me frustrated!! I just called to confirm my Urologist's appt. and it was yesterday!! I can't believe they didn't try to track down my phone number! It is in their computer, but not on my chart. What kind of an office uses paper?? Judy: Be assured that prayers are ascending for your ddad, and for you and family. I apree with Donna, Parkinson's can be so d**n insidious. You are a good daughter, Judy. He is very lucky to have you. Bren: Good to see you too. I have misc. fixups to do around here. I started working on some of them, but then got distracted doing my shower and cleaning up for the "Doctor." (D**nit all anyway). We didn't get a car yesterday. Dh wasn't keen on paying the prices that have been quoted. He always needs to think about stuff that costs money. So, here I am at home with no hope of going anywhere. I probably wouldn't go, anyway, it's raining. But, we did get a small storage unit so I can start putting stuff in it as I get it packed. Barb: Good to see you this morning. Are you back to work and normalcy again? Alida: I took a deep breath and dared to post my weight on the other place (I'm not calling it a "challenge" because I may be disappointed in myself if I don't make it. So, I'm just ignoring the fact that I am posting my numbers there). Thanks for the courage. Yeah, Physical Therapy is painful. But, they are very compassionate and gave me a good ultrasound treatment last night along with a kind of traction (with just hands) where she pulls my head while I'm laying down. It feels SO good. Sometimes these days it feels as though my head weighs about 80 lbs. Then they put one of those wonderful heat wraps on my neck. That was nice too. Shel, Rach., Terry: Howdy to ya too! Peace, Peg

| Peg, according to a TIME magazine report last week, hospitals are deadly, and doctor's offices are in the dark ages when it comes to computerization. Last time I visited mine, I suggested to the nurse that she could communicate with me conveniently by e-mail, and she got a look of horror on her face. "I don't do e-mail," she snapped. So...it still takes me three days of phone tag to get the smallest question answered. And of course, charts are paper mountains in a folder. Hope the neck treatments are helpful. My cousin the occupational therapist once corrected a longstanding "crick" in my neck with a technique called "myofascial release" in which she applied extremely gentle pressure with opposing hands placed just so on the neck and shoulder. It has to do with a reflex of the "fascia" or connective tissue in the muscle. Interesting. Maybe that's what you're getting. I'm having trouble getting down to work. The assignment I have at hand is challenging, and the hope of success is...limited. I'm flogging myself. I think I"ll take a walk. |

| Hey Barb! Yeah, I know that about hospitals. I'm a little leary going in for surgery with a DH who doesn't know the right questions to ask, and just blithely assumes that everyone is doing their job well! I know intimately about the myofasicia. Back in the seventies, I was "rolfed." That's where the practitioner works down hard into the myofasicia and works to extend it. It is VERY painful, but I was "into" stuff like that, and green tea, and "ohming," and long gauzy dresses, with no bra (yeah, I could do that then). You can imagine how that "played" with my "dh-at-the-time" who was a policeman! HA! Just got my latest online order from Coldwater Creek. Going to have to send back some stuff. Too small. :o Peg

| Barb, Peg, I could use some myofacial release or rolfing or something myself. Ouch, darn it all. Peg, I'm glad you're getting something soothing out of the PT anyway. Oh yes, I can see you in gauze in the 70's--bet you looked great, too. Peg, I missed an appoinment yesterday myself--the furgirls haircut. I just hate that! Made me feel like a dufus all day. However, the groomer said something must be in the air so many people were forgetting appointments or confusing the times....let's take that as an out. Barb, creativity on demand seems rather intimidating to me. Wishing you well with today's assignment. Peg, you didn't get a car? Darn it. How does DH expect you to get to your interim assignment? Ok I have to see what Dad's up to. He's been gone for hours, and now that he's back, he's running back and forth from car to house. This never bodes well.

| Hi guys, Just checkin' in to say hi! I'm wiped out and slightly ticked off. The plumbers did not come today...aarrgghh. My kitchen sink etc is still Un-usable...d*mn! They are suppose to be here tomorrow between 1100 and 1500!......great.....a 4 hour window of waiting. Judy...sending good thoughts and good wishes *down* to Texas! Peg....a gauze dress eh??? I'll get back to you on this one...hehe! Bren...I'm in suspense here......what's your dad up to with all the trips to and from the car to the house???? Barb....you said it well,(as you always do)...charts are paper mountains in folders; you should see a hospital record room...oye! I don't know how the medical records folks find anything, but they do...continually amazes me! Alida...hope your hip pain doesn't get any worse, but you are right to get it checked out. I pray you do NOT need a new hip, kiddo! Rach...where are you....home yet. or still on vacation? Send us a post card! Donna....sorry your end of the month duties are so demanding. (((hugs))) Teel....hey to you! I had a patient last week that has a koi pond and she told me to discourage the egrets and other birds that like to *fish* in her pond, she got a water scarecrow. It has motion detectors, and the water will come on and *spray* the *varmits* away. I thought that sounded pretty neat. She said it works well. Ilse...I had an eye exam today and picked out new frames. They are ordering them in brown for me as they only had black in the office. So when I go back to see the brown vs the black ones, I will make my decision. There was a really cute pair of far out red frames I drooled over briefly...no...I've got to be strong...got to make this short and sweet! What can I say...I'm a compulsive shopper! LOL! OK, cowgirls.....looks like we may be in for nasty weather this evening. The weather guys keep *beeping in*. I'm off tomorrow, and Thursday, most likely. PRAY that my kitchen issues get mostly resolved ASAP...LOL. later, chickadees! S.

| Oh....here's a link to the frames I like. The decision will be black vs brown. They are framed on top only and have a nice oval look. Anyhoo..... http://www.bestbuyeyeglasses.com/pro...product=237903 S.

| Very cute frames, Shelley! You know what, I could see you in red ones, too! I'm chuckling at the red idea because wouldn't you know it I have fallen for RED countertops, one in Corian and one in Zodiaq. Now, you MUST tell ME to be strong on that one! .....I hate waiting for contractors, delveries, etc. NEVER when they're supposed to be. Boy, do I hear your frustration. Aw, a bunny. Little critters are so cute, even if when they eat my flowers. Enjoy! Donna, thanks for dropping in even in the midst of your most hectic time! Month end is a real killer of good fun, for sure.

| One minute check in....... no internet access at the hospital...... Oh yeah, last I posted they were sending DDad home. He was here less than an hour and had another "episode". DBrother had to call EMS again. DDad is in the hospital and as yet they do not know the problem. He had a sonogram of the carotids today to determine if they might be blocked. His strength has deteriorated so much, and with these seisures/fainting spells/mini stroke whatevers, it looks like we may have to skip assisted living and go straight to a nursing home. I'll check in again when I can. Thanks for all the prayers.

| Judy, we'll be thinking about you, and sending encouragement for a good decision. Sounds like dad needs close supervision. My dad sold his car--voluntarily, himself--which is a good thing. He wasn't resisting the temptation to drive himself to the HyVee, and we were contemplating a key-ectomy. Shelley, can you at least try on the red frames? You might be surprised. Bren, red glasses are one thing. Easy to replace in a couple of years. Countertops? Better be darn sure! I'm a sucker for red myself. Actually, I heard on a tv news spot the other day that bright colors in the kitchen encourage overeating. Blue is the best color for suppressing appetite. (There's an expert for every topic.) I'm up at the usual time this morning, but reversing my routine. Breakfast first, then off to the gym for cycle. I'm feeling a little headache-y today, and wondering if it might be the so-called induction flu. I haven't been that low on carbs (20 or so), but I had a lot of "cleansing" to do. The scales were down a lb today, so perhaps it's working--at least the water weight part. I did weights class yesterday evening, and it felt really good. Peg, did you have long hair, too? I can definitely envision you as Earth Goddess. Gotta run. Great day everybody. |

| Good morning. Oh, Judy, my heart goes out to you. Sending prayers that your Dad WILL get better and does not have to go directly to a nursing home. Perhaps there is a retirement/nursing home combo? Thank God your brother is there with him. Hard time to go through. As Barb would say: "Take care of yourself." Peg, yup. I can see you in gauze, too. I went bra-less in the 70's. But in the later 70's I wore a size 32-A. There was nothing to bounce. I ordered some stuff from Coldwater at Christmas and had to return some too-small things, too. That's one of the reasons I hate ordering on line. I can wear anything from a 6 to a 10. Amazing. BIG bummer on the no car. I echo Brenda. How the heck are you supposed to get to your job? If it were me, I would start to claim a lot of "car time" to the extent that my DH would cave in and rent the d*mn thing. Warm neck wraps? Gentle pulling? Ultrasound? Sounds like GREAT PT to me. Fingers crossed it will WORK. Barb, I (again) echo Brenda. Creativity on demand must be very hard. What was it you needed to come up with? And did you? Or least wrap your mind around a "direction." When I have to do anything creative (lead designs, a new brochure), I find I do my best work in the early AM. Speaking of hospitals: when I first went to the hospital and gave them all my stats, namely my insurance card, you'd think ALL the bills from the hospital would have access to my insurance card. NOT. The CTs and MRIs which were billed separately, had a note on the bill stating they needed my Insurance info. You'd think they'd call to get it before billing. Nope. Same with resident neurosurgeon. Sigh. Shelley, CUTE frames! I'd definitely go for brown though. My best friend in Chicago had red frames for a while. They looked good on her. I am much too conservative. Good old gold for me. Goes with everything, yanno? Bummer on the plumber not showing up. Today? And when is your tile being installed? Don't forget the pictures! As for my hip ? the only reason I mention a NEW one is because the nurse who did my bone scan told me in 2003 that I was going to be a candidate for a new one. Bunnies are so cute! But they are eating my hostas. I am putting out lettuce in hopes that they will like the lettuce more than my hostas. Brenda, I am echoing you left and right! CRS seems to be going around with missed doctor appointments. I hate it when I do that. Yup. Feel like a dufus. So, what did your Dad buy? Terry, you haven't mentioned how you like the film. I HOPE the install went well! Donna, have fun with the invoices! Rachel, big HI! from KC. ---------------- Taking a second dose in the PM seems to be working for DH's GERD! Yesterday morning he reported he got his best night's sleep in days, in spite of my snoring. He is also keeping his head slightly elevated with two pillows. Today I have an etchlike job. Tomorrow, too. I am hoping this extra "exercise" will tilt the scale. Still at 145 this AM, in spite of being good yesterday. But, I will look at this number as a good thing. Hey. At least is wasn't 146. Yesterday: Calories, 1241 Fat: 88 Protein: 85.3 Carbs: 21.87 I am finding Diet Power is really the KEY for me. However, since I can't take my supplements, it it giving me really LOW marks. Usually I get a score of 98 for my daily intake. Without the supps, it's more like 68. So, I'll plug in supplements and make it happy. Have a good day! XXOO
