| OH Sh!T We had BIG rain tonight. And it's still raining. I am down in the basement taking a break from mopping up the leak in the basement because Bob did not fix the gutter properly and it became detached and all the water was forced down by this bad corner in our basement. All this was after I got buckets in the kitchen to catch the downpour coming in through one part of the ceiling. All the water is now running down through the walls and dripping down into my cabinets. We thought we had that sucker fixed. Guess NOT. BIG SIGH. Judy, so you are PI$$ED? I am livid.

| Oh Alida.......... I am so sorry, and I sooo understand. What is it with our houses? Remember in March when I almost didn't get to come to the convergence because of the stupid gas leak? I had one of those run down the cabinets rain leaks last fall, too. It happened one time and never happened again. So, in true drag my heels fashion, DH didn't do a damn thing about it. The stains are still on the ceiling...... in the kitchen....... that I was going to paint this summer............ what a dream that was.

| Shelley, you're probably out the door at the moment. Sorry you didn't get a day off--but then, being the energizer bunny you are, you wouldn't use a day off to take a nap anyway. Alida. ARRRGH on the bailing. Here comes the "blessing" of rain with a curse, too. Peg, hope you got a good night's sleep, pain-free. I agree with you about geese. Not postcard scenery anymore--just huge flocks of sh*t-makers. Judy, hope the installation is relatively painless, too. Maybe you should spend the day at the library catching up on whodunits? They have computers there, too--you can chat with us all day. Thanks for the card idea. It's a good one. In the online magazine GRAND, I found a list of the most common names for grandmas and grandpas. That would be a fun switch on the "baby names" lists that are so popular--maybe for grandparent-to-be. So yes, Shelley, I'll try it. It's almost time to head out to cycle class--the workout I love to hate. How come I burn so dang many calories and still ain't a stick?? Truth is, the transformation of a historically (or genetically) fluffy body to a more fit, muscular body is slow, but ongoing. I'm not quitting yet. By the time I'm 90, I'll look like Linda Hamilton. Remember her? Later, babes. |

| Oh Alida!! I can SO relate to you and your leaks! As you know, I have spent more time than anyone should have to cleaning up after leaks and floods in this condo! I'm so sorry that you had that. You too, Judy. FYI: Our handyman turned us on to a spray paint specifically made for covering up stains on the ceiling. You can get it at Home Depot. We used it on the ceiling tiles downstairs and it's magic! Judy: I like Barb's idea about spending the day at the Library. You could surf the web, write to us, get your email. Girl, it sounds like the ideal day to me. You could put your cell phone on vibrate, and have all your modern info right there at your fingertips. We had a new heating A/C system installed this past Winter while we were away. It works wonderfully, and I am very satisfied with it. We haven't had enough hot days to test it, however. I have had it on 24 hours for a few weeks, at a higher temp. I have asthma and the humidity just kills me. It takes the humidity out of the air. But, we have the de-humidifier going in the basement 24 hours. It takes gallons and gallons out of the air down there. Of course, now that there are drying carpets down there, you can imagine. I wish I had all those computer parts lying around like you and Bren. Of course, I would need to have your dh's around too! My computer (two years old) has started protesting big time about staying in it's little cubbyhole in my desk. It starts to whine after about 15 mins. So, I take it out and let the fan get some fresh air. Yeah. It gets too warm in there. Real estate has slowed down considerably here too. Three condos have just sold here in our complex. However, they were on the market for 50 days. The neighbors we mentioned yesterday, came over last night. They were a little more aggressive in their questions. Oops! Our real estate agent is pretty pessimisstic about it going very fast. On the good side though, one that was equal to ours just sold for the same price we are asking. That is good. We are not allowed to put up signs except for the day of the open house. Barb: I love Shelley's idea and your too. My dgk's can never find a card that says "Nana." Of course, they have only sent me about two cards in their lives, but hope springs eternal! Bren: I laughed at your posting while in bed and watching TV. I can't wait until that is true for me. Our laptop is housed on dh's desk. It's a PITA to bring it upstairs, and take it down again and hook it up. (What a whiner I am!) It is nice to have a clean house. The open house is Sunday. The real estate agents troop through on Thursday all day. We are going to go into Boston to the Kennedy Museum on Thursday. We have been trying to do the things that we haven't done in New England before we leave the area for good. There is a booth in the Fanuiel Hall complex that sells the very best clam chowder I have ever tasted. They call it "chowdah." Hoping to get in there. Though right now is tourist season, and downtown at the historic places is just packed with people. I'm not good with crowds. On Sunday, we are going to take a "day trip." We haven't decided where. We only have to be gone for 3 hours in the afternoon. Shel: I hope that today is not too tough for you. I could not have worked as physically as you do the day after. Let us know how it went for you. Donna: I keep hoping that your boss will realized what a gem he has in you!! I hope that that driver you helped yesterday send your flowers. You deserve it. Terry: Good luck with your stalking today. We've been watching a cardinal family here. The babies are now out of the nest and busy picking worms out of the grass. It is just lovely to watch the parents swoop down and chase off other birds. Gosh they are lovely birds. Yesterday, we had a papa cardinal and a big blue jay sitting on the railing of our balcony! Our neighbor has a feeding dish out upstairs. The birds line up waiting their turn to feed. Rach: Check in when you can, girlfriend! So glad you are safe and getting some good stuff done. (I mena, stuff that you really enjoy) Well, I gotta go and shower before the handyman gets here to finish up the bathroom. Then, I have to clean IT. Another white tile floor. We did get the boomers yesterday! I was so excited. We have fog, humidity, and heat today. We are supposed to get BIG rain today, but no more boomers. Peace, Peg

| Hi guys ? just checking in? busy, busy, busy? there is always about twice the amount of work to be done here than I expect. I love it but it really does mean 8am-8pm days. And of course, since I don?t have anything but the hotel room to return to every night ? the only thing that makes me leave at 7:30 or 8 in the evening is that a driver has to stay late, too ? so I try to cut that short. It was great to catch up with Shelley ? by surprise! What a treat ? I?m sure things went well? Judy, I loved checking the ptcenter website ? I know it?s out of date (believe me, I know all about out of date websites!! Ha ha ha!) but I loved a little glimpse of someone I know, ?on-line?. Donna, you and Judy might like Harlan Coben?s books? he?s a bestselling mystery writer and his stuff are just great reads? Barnes and Noble has a great page on their website where you can ?meet the writer? ? gives you all kinds of info ? including which book to ?start with?. This buy is really great and very humorous, too. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/writer...z=y&cid=968837 Oh Brenda, laptop in bed with cup of coffee or tea at bedside is such a treat isn?t it?? Are you on battery or does your power cord reach? Isn?t wireless just the best? <<grin>> Alida, oh man, what a DRAG about the rain/leak? :( I?m so sorry!! Barb, Peg? my father has decided that the answer to the overpopulation of the Canada Geese in the Eastern US (or all over the US?) is that some fancy-schmancy group of chefs has to come up with a way to promote these foul as a delicacy and get people to eat them! Otherwise ? they have no more natural enemies and are (like the deer in NJ, PA, etc.) going to get to plague-like numbers soon. Oh Peg, is the Faneuil Hall place called Durgin Park??? http://www.durgin-park.com/ Can you believe it, my great-grandfather used to eat there every week when we went into Boston (at the turn of the century). Hasn?t changed much, still looks and feels like a bordering house dinner hall. And has the best New England specialities I?ve ever had, Indian pudding, brown bread, chowdah, steamers, quahogs (a type of clam), and lobster?oh, I can only dream?. Terry? I think different birds have different periods weaning and ?learning to fly? or dive or whatever. I wouldn?t worry too much unless you have a reason to think something might have happened. Well gals.. three days into ?Armenian? induction and still not feeling any differences ? although I?m getting LOTS of green tea and water in ? over a gallon a day between the both. I wake up feeling trimmer but by day?s end the suit pants are tight and I?m as jiggly as always ah? I?ve never been accused of having ANY patience, don?t know why now should be any different!!The good news is that the only scale is a REALLY old one down in the basement of the hotel so I?m not tempted to get on it every day (plus, I like to weigh in nekkid, and I can?t do that here!!) Love to all -

| Morning, galpals... I'm feeling for Alida and her water woes, and Judy with the AC out, and Shelley back to work, and......well let's face it, we all have days once in a while that don't bear repeating often. We've had threats of boomers and rain, but only the humidity seems to be staying, and weighing heavily on my head, too. I want rain, but don't want to tempt the god of leaks who seems to be demanding worship in our midst. Peg, lots planned for this week. Maybe you should get one of those St. Joes anyway. Promise we won't tell your congregation ___________ Some good news yesterday for gf Diane. Her new oncologist says she is nicely "on hold" right now, so no surgery scheduled. Recheck in two months. And DH thinks he may have dodged the current layoff bullet. Next one scheduled for August/September. Not sure what today will bring, other than yoga class. I'm feeling rather vegetative today.

| Hi, Rachel. It's great to have you back with us. BTW, the reason for the Canada goose population explosion is that they are still on the "protected species" list. Once they were endangered. My how quickly that changed. Anyway, suburban homeowners from coast to coast would be DELIGHTED to shoot them and eat them the minute the government gives the go-ahead. They could be back on the "endangered" list in minutes. Bren, good news--however temporary--for your DH. Yoga and vegging sounds good. I have methods of vegging disguised as looking busy at my desk. Like what I'm doing right now.... |

| So far, not too bad here without air. The outside temp is up to 93 with 37% humidity. Heat index is at 94. We actually still have a small amount of cooling from a separate unit in a room addition. Installers say they will be finished by 2;00.......... I think that may be a bit optimistic. Whatever, it will probably be done by the late afternoon when the highest temps of the day happen. Good to see everyone checking in. I'll let you guys know later how the finished installation is working.

| Couldn't stay away. I'm sitting here at my computer with the fan on my face, sweating like a construction worker, sucking on a beer!! I got back from Home Depot about a half hour ago and found that our handyman had FINALLY finished the bathroom and gone home. TTL! Now, I just have to clean it. And, it's 3:00 p.m. Got a call from the Real Estate agent and they have a couple to show the condo to tonight at 7:00 p.m. It only went into MLS today! Good news, huh? I suspect that there are a few people out ther who are really looking for a water view. We have one of the only affordable ones in MA. Tomorrow is the Open house for realtors. Judy, glad it's not too bad there. It is just plain awful here. Low clouds, sprinkling but no rain, and humid as all get out. Bren: SUCH good news for your gf!!! Please give her my best wishes. That is great news for today. Barb: Somehow I just can't imagine you vegging even if it looks like work. I mean, you are working on a dadblamed BALL!! Okay, kitchen floor is dry, time to tackle that d*mned bathroom. See ya later. Peg

| 2:30 and all workmen are gone. Current temp outside is 94 with a heat index of 96. Inside, the air has been running for less than an hour and it is 81. It has already dropped 2 degrees since I started watching it about 45 minutes ago. It's amazing how much more air we can feel moving in the house. Let's see if the darn thing will finally get us down to 74 and if it will cut off before midnight. Lead installers predicts that it will cycle down by 5:00. Peg, good luck with the showing. Maybe there will be a bidding war and you will get more than you expected

| Judy, I can feel the breeze from here. BE cool. I mean, cooler than you already are. Peg, be sure and lock up the jewelry before the showing tomorrow. A sticky-fingered real estate agent lifted valuable stuff out of my sister's dresser drawer. Best wishes for a quick sale. |

| Peg, a showing tonight? That's a great start, but will keep you busy today. We've both been in the bathroom today, it seems. I started working on the wallpaper backing, not with too much ambition, but a few square feet I could reach lazily sitting on the floor. I think I now have a fabric softener overdose, though. Euwwwwww. Rachel, I am now cordfree AND wireless. Heaven! Judy, are you COOL Barb, now that is very sad--a sticky fingered real estate agent. <big sigh> ________________ I'm about to leave for yoga

| Temp outside = 101........... Inside is still going down. So far I'm impressed. Of course, it still hasn't gotten to thermostat setting of 74 and gone off, but at least it is going down as the temp is going up.
