| I had really good intentions of getting in here early and "talking" to each of you......... then early this afternoon I started reading Kite Runner. I'm sure that I am once again way behind the curve in getting to this novel, and you probably have already discussed it. It is excellent. I can forsee a very late night tonight. This may be one of those finished in two days books. and now, back to the story..............

| Raising hands on good intentions here.... Judy, Kite Runner is a great book. Well worth a two day read. Enjoy. You won't believe it, but DH is still up. He found some delightful piece of something (a server, actually) on clearance is evidently having loads of fun. We have a server, however I am assured that this one is "different" and has "lots of other capabilities." Heard that one before Shelley, yum, I workshop with Ana Forrest in the Rockies? That sounds like just short of heaven! Probably expensive heaven, but something I really want to do sometime--a yoga vacation somewhere. Hmmm. After thinking about your Mexican dinner Yea! on the new lights! I'm convinced lighting makes a tremendous difference in how I feel about my environment--sounds like you feel that way, too. I've replaced many an Old Yaller bulb here with the "daylight" florescents, but I need more lighting in general in most of my rooms. TB, I can't ID your little Baby Huey--my guide doesn't show enough pictures of the juveniles. He does look large for a sparrow but seems to be at least in a related family. His poor adopted parents must be pretty tired of feeding him by now. Peg, sounds like a delightful day in Boston. The Kennedy era seem like such a short time ago to me, but in reality, much water under the bridge I suppose. Is that board in your entrance really so noticeable? Sheesh, after all the other work you've done.... Rach, oh, you DO understand my clam chowder experience. Yup, it was thin gruel with rubber bits, and didn't smell all that good either. Funny how experiences as a kid can put a little kink in the brain. I KNOW there is good clam chowder. I've eaten chowder, I've eaten clams....but clam chowder..... Smiling at the memories of your sleeping half nekkid. I did the same back when, and darned if I'm not doing it now! What is it when hot flashes come back for no apparent reason and only at night. Sheesh. So glad you're having a great time; you needed some positive experience after the packing experience. Donna, Alida, hope all is well. ______________________ Tomorrow is ME day--haircut and pedicure

| Hi all, just a quick one ? I?m at work, but it?s Friday and I?ll be working most of the weekend so I?m taking a few minutes for you all.. Peg, the waterfront we are looking for in Western MA ?IS? lakefront! Neither of us has had an interest in ocean front. I only wish Worcester (pronounced ?whuh-ster?, no?) were even slightly closer to Amherst (or more specifically Leverett). Otherwise we be seriously interested. <<sigh>> Shelley, glad the kitchen lighting is making you happy! And what difference in the two pedometers ? I?ll be very interested to hear how this is resolved. Sounds like Terry has it figured out. Could be that the new pedometer ? which is more accurate (right?) might be the one to rely on. One thing I loved about my treadmill was that calibrated or not, it was the same all the time!! LoL! Bren.. I do love Bean it?s true! And I?ve turned Georgians onto them as well! Every time I?ve gone back to the states for a visit it?s been with a request or two for orders from LLBean? Judy! Kite Runner was fantastic ? it has been a hugely popular ?book club? choice all over the world. You go read, girl!! To all? please consider reading, ?Tales of a Female Nomad? by Rita Golden Gelman? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/060...161514?ie=UTF8 if for no other reason than to see what pieces of my life are about ? ok, I?m not climbing gorges in Irian Jaya or living with Balinese royalty? but she?s done all her travel in her late 40s, 50s, and 60s (!!)? it is great stuff ? and very much about being a woman in the world?and she?s a great and funny story-teller as well. See you all later!

| Friday, Friday. And oh my--looks like I have some reading to catch up on. So far, I haven't managed to finish the one I'm working on. Gotta SIT DOWN, girl! Bren, a ME day sounds great. But heck--every day is pretty much me day for me. I don't have a lot of demands other than the ones I choose, although they DO expect me to show up at the office--at least physically. ![]() Shelley, your vacation plans sound wonderful--actually with or without yoga. I'll be in the Rockies in August, and looking forward to it. Mexican must be in the air. I asked DH to make "tostado mountains" tonight--his with and mine without tortilla chips. I'll skimp a little on lunch. Rachel, sometimes I'd like to pack up everything I own in a big crate and lose it on the high seas. I don't wish disaster on anyone, but when the past gets swept away, there's still a lot of life to embrace. Perhaps I'm speaking as a childless person--no one will care about inheriting or cherishing any of my leavings, and I'll be too busy having new adventures to sort through it myself before I go. Guess that's why I have such a passion for maintaining health and fitness. I DO see mountains yet to climb. Teel, I love your precise way of looking at things. Nothing to add about bird I.D. My Peterson Eastern Birds book probably doesn't have enough information to be helpful in your neck o' the woods. I chose short yoga this morning: PM Yoga with Patricia Walden. Lovely scenery, out in the desert somewhere. (Not that I actually watch.) I'm trying to pay a whole lot more attention to breathing--so fundamental. I'm sure that adding a couple of sessions of yoga each week will be helpful, not to mention delightful. Speaking of delightful--I'll be back here later to see what ya'll are up to! |

| Quick Note: Bob had his Heart Cath yesterday -- 3 totally blocked -- one vein led to the damaged (dead) part so they left that one alone. Two other veins had 3 stents put in (one vein needed two). He stayed overnight in ICU and as of 9PM last night was doing well. I had to decide on-the-spot about stents vs. triple bypass. Sigh. What do I know? Went with doctor and nurse opinion. Read about the stents afterwards. One complication is DEATH. Sigh. On my way to hospital. Bob should be home today. XXOO

| Hi Gang! Oh, Alida........my dear, dear friend! Goodness sake you have had a lot on your plate lately!! Prayers ascending for your dear dh. You must be totally stressed out from worry. I certainly would be. Take care of that dear man, and let us know how it's going. Thanks for posting even in the midst of this crisis. It's good to know what's going on so I can be sending positive energy your way. Judy: I listened to Kite Runner, and it was told in the Afghanistani accent. Ohmigod, I think it is one of the most important books of this century. A real keeper. When you finish that one, let me know, I've got a million recommendations. Bren: Hair and pedi, huh? You lucky girl. I get the treatment next week. But, for me, add a massage too! I can juszt see your dh. I do the same thing when I get a new toy. My dh thinks I am obsessed or something. Notice I said OBsessed, not POSsessed! Yeah, the board is between the hall and the kitchen, very noticeable, but I was hoping that no one would notice! Ha! It was the last one installed and he split it. Well, the first people who looked at the house noticed it. Dang! Our realtor, also a friend, and a really handy guy, is coming over this morning to fix it. Shel: Pedometers are a mystery to me. I have wondered how it was that you calculated your pace and miles so accurately. Your secret is out. By the way, how are you feeling after your big week? Barb: How's the "granny" project going? Rachel: It is SO god to hear from you again. We have missed you so much. I love what you add to the board. Donna: Where are you girl? Terry: I agree, your quiet wisdom and measured posts are so welcome here. We have a bird "snapping" (that's the only way I can describe it. It sounds like an electrical snap) outside our bedroom window. Very insistent. I suspect that it is a baby calling for food. I did get a peek at it this morning and I can't identify it. It is a small bird rather indistinct in its grayness. It was indeed holding its mouth open like it was to be fed, but there was no one coming to her aid. It's bigger than a finch, but smaller than a cardinal. It's not a robin, no hint of color other than gray. We do have a cardinal family, and a bunch of finches, beautiful in the yellow brilliance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, off to talk to bf. Did I tell you that she was robbed this past week? Burglars kicked in her door during the day and took every bit of jewelry she had. They also took every other valuable thing she had including her laptop and her safe! Every drawer was opened and overturned. Every room. Six other neighbors were hit on the same day. A professional gang. Took the Sheriff THREE HOURS to respond to her 911. She's in SoCa. Uh huh, that's where we are going. Peace, Peg

| Alida, hang in there, girlfriend. I'm sure you made the RIGHT decision...the most conservative treatment to start with. You have permission to pamper yourself in any way possible...and to ignore calls from "the boss." Thanks for asking about the Grandma project. The editor's favorite so far: Every day, you just throw your arms around life and hug it to pieces. Hope life hugs you back real big today. Personally, I think that's for Shelley. The editor has about forty other ideas to look at, and this is MY personal favorite: Aging gracefully is overrated. I like the way you?re doing it? with just a touch of outrage. You go, Grandma. That's for you, Peg. Do I have a fun job, or what?? |

| Good morning ladies....sorry I've been MIA, but my days seem to be getting shorter and busier. I've decided today that it's a good thing that I basically work alone cause I'm not a very nice person today. I'm *****y and this isn't a mood I generally get in. You see, I've added power walking to my routine. I walk every night for at least an hour (got to get a pedometer). My legs are sore and so are my abs, but I've been feeling good about it. Yesterday, I was soooo careful with what I ate and did my walk last night so I was pretty excited about stepping on the scale this morning. Awwwwkkkk. I gained a pound! What's with that? So, that's why I'm not a nice person today!! Dh always tells me when we are driving that you use more gas when you are driving into the wind....well, I've been walking into the wind everynight, and it's really been blowing, so why haven't I used up more pounds? Okay, enough whining. Alida: I wondered why you didn't post yesterday. Big (((((hugs))))) to you today, girl. I'm sure you made the right decision as to Bob's treatment. Will be sending positive thoughts your way. Judy: The David Balducci book that I'm reading is Hour Game. Really good one if you are interested. Peg: I didn't realize you could just replace one board in a laminate floor. That's good to know. I've found one already where there is a tiny chip taken out. You wouldn't notice except the mop keeps getting caught on it. Maybe I could get it replaced too. Barb: What a fun job writing about Gramma's. We're such special people that it can't be too hard to talk about us. lol Terry: Sorry, I can't help you with the bird names. I enjoy watching them, but hardly know any types of them except the usual robbins, etc. We have one that comes to our feeder that has a red face and breast...so pretty. Dh came home from Vancouver on Tuesday with a flat of strawberries, one of blueberries, one of raspberries and a big container of cherries. So, I spent most of the night freezing them. Now, I don't have to worry about berries for the winter. I do need to get into my freezer and see what's hiding at the bottom. Too bad there wasn't a button you could push so that the whole inside of the freezer rotated and the bottom became the top. Tomorrow is my friend's birthday so we are having a BBQ for her. She's had a very hard life and now has rheumatoid arthritis. But, she doesn't let it get her down even though sometimes you can see the pain on her face. She never complains. I'm looking forward to a nice visit with them. They are vegetarian so it's going to be a challange to make dinner for them. I'm really not too chatty today as you can see. Just too pissed off with life right now. Still no water at work. I do have the option of walking over to the warehouse and using the bathroom there, but it's quite a walk and absolutely filthy. Ever see what truckdrivers can do to a bathroom? We won't even go there. Looks like someone else has been trying to tap into our water source and has screwed up the pipes. Boss had better get something done soon!! Have a good weekend everyone.

| Finished Kite Runner. If you haven't read it, I definitely recommend it. I told DD about it earlier today. She is NOT a student of history or politics, and said that the idea of a story set in Afghanistan didn't sound interesting at all, but that I had not steered her wrong in books yet, so she would look for it at Half Price Books the next time she goes there. Alida, I was so shocked to read of the severity of Bob's heart condition. It's amazing that he has not had some serious chest pains or an attack. You were very lucky to have caught it before anything happened. I have to say that I agree with you on selecting the stents over the bypass. That surgery is incredibly hard to get over. I would avoid it if given a chance. Bob may find that he has great bursts of energy now that he has increased blood flow. It's all very scary. (((((HUGS!))))) Barb, I like your cards from yesterday. When do you find out if they made "the cut"? The Peg one was perfect for her. I'll bet she's not the only Stylin Nana around either. Did you find a list of grandma names? Nana has already been claimed by Olivia's other grandma. Besides, I don't think DH is fond of that anyway. I'm thinking that I will probably end up just being a plain old "Grandma". That was what my mom was called and what my favorite grandmother was called, too. I'm not totally into that name, but I guess it's really to early to worry about it yet anyway. Olivia might come up with something on her on. Brenda, I did a low end version of your "me" day yesterday. Did a hair color job and painted my toes while it was processing. Something tells me that your was a much more pampering experience. You know, the money for hair color is one factor in why I di it myself, but more than that, I find that I get more consistent results when I do it myself. The stylists never listen when I tell them that I need an ash color to keep from being brassy and not to pull the color through to the ends. The ends "grab" and then look awful. They seem to think that as a professional they know more than I do about what will work. Donna, I think if the boss doesn't get the plumbing fixed over the weekend that I would just tell him that you plan to work at home until it is done. OR, I'd take 30 minutes to drive to a clean bathroom every couple of hours. I bet he will do something pretty soon under those choices. I'm so sorry that your walking efforts went the wrong way on the scale for you. I'll bet it has something to do with the change in water consumption. Peg, Did you get the floor board changed? Some times its all in the details. I am so sorry about your bf's robbery. How scary for her. I can't imagine what an awful feeling it must be to walk in and find something like that. Did she have an alarm system? It might be time for her to investigate one. I hope she had insurance that will help with replacements. There are always those things that are irreplaceable due to sentimental value though. Those would be the worst losses. Rachel, Can't tell you how much the thought of clam chowder gags me. My first experience with it was far from pleasant. Actually it's a fairly long and funny family story. However, I have never gotten past the taste. That would be one regional delicacy that I will just have to pass up if I am ever in the Boston area. Terry, How are your bird babies? Our babies (wrens) seem to leave our yard immediately after flying from the nest. We only see the them in the early spring -- the darn blue jays and sparrows hang out all the time. I think we are partial to the wrens because they hide their nests somewhere in our garage every year. They are probably smart enough to go somewhere where it isn't so hot for the summer. Tomorrow I think I'll go back to sewing. I have two pillow cases to embroider names on for my friend's twins. And, I have the cranberry dress to work on. The pattern is Simplicity 4074. Go here and click on the pattern number. I'm making the two piece dress that is shown in red, only I'm adding the 3/4 length sleeves. Earlier this week I made a cute top out of some throw back to the 60's looking chifon. The pattern number for it is 4220 . Click the pattern and look at the top in teal. It's actually much cuter than the pattern illustration. Siomplicity patterns were on sale for .99 the day I went to the fabric store. That's a serious bargain. For now, I think I'll go to bed. I stayed up way too late reading last night.

| Judy, it's been so long since I looked at patterns--I'm STUNNED that they cost $15.95. I realize they're endlessly reusable, but still...I could buy a cute top at Target for that. And I usually do. That dress style is great--very becoming (and sexy) on you, I'm sure. No kidding about getting a serious bargain on patterns at .99--you go! One of my not-so-favorite childhood memories is having to hang out in a fabric store with my mom. She was an industrious seamstress--had to be, as the thrifty mother of three girls. We always had pretty clothes that she made.As for the grandma names, I'll pick up the list from my work computer and send it Monday. My sister is "Grammie" (I like that) and her counterpart is "Mimi" (I like that, too). But one of the kids calls her Nana, which he decided all by himself. So you never know. I've always done my own hair color. L'Oreal Excellence now has a "resist" cream I use on the ends, which further prevents extra color uptake on the previously-colored parts--and seems to add interesting highlights. Donna, don't worry about the weight gain after walking. It's a common effect of exercise--your muscles suck up extra water. After accidentally losing one or two pedometers in the toilet (they fell off my belt), I gave up on the darn things. I just plan my routes by time and terrain. You have every reason to be cranky! That toilet thing is worse than inconvenient. I think I'd refuse to come to work. Here, too, they can't legally permit people to work in a building without water. Once Hallmark had to send home thousands of people from the headquarters when a huge water main break downtown interrupted water service for a day. Talk about a chunk of change out of the corporate pocket. Ouch. I picked up a copy of Kite Runner at Target yesterday, so I think I'll just abandon this book that doesn't seem all that gripping and read that first. Also, DH handed me a John Sandford Dead Watch that he couldn't put down. So...I'll find a reading opportunity somehow. I jumped ship Friday afternoon, and went to see the movie "Word Play"--which is all about crossword puzzlers, and features Will Shortz, the crossword editor for the New York Times. It's a charming movie, and relevant to the work I do. I'm recommending to my boss that all the writers be encouraged to see it--maybe buy the tickets for them? That's also how I got into Target--checking out the greeting card competition. It feels like playing hookey, but actually it's quite important for me to get out into the real world with the intentional purpose of watching people in their everyday environment. I should actually do it more often. The "tostado mountain" was scrumptious. But I steeled myself putting everything in Fitday. Calories have been (for me) astronomical this week. Carbs mostly in the 30s, which is quite low. But still. I'm a little concerned about letting total consumption get out of hand. That's the way the Weight Creep works. Little by little. The daytime heat prevents me from walking outdoors at lunchtime, so I'm missing some cardio that I had been getting. I'll have to figure out an alternative. Alida, how are you? Is the patient being patient? Off to the gym this morning, and then a girlfriend lunch. After that? Well, I've got books to read! See you later, m'dears. P. S. Judy, here's a link to the Grandparent Names. I don't remember how to make that "short link" but this should work: http://www.grandmagazine.com/cms/ind...d=14&Itemid=26 |

| Judy... the whole grandma name thing can depend sometimes on the kid! My nephew couldn't pronounce "Grandma" and it came out like "Uma". Which is what we now all call her (as does he)... turns out that that's grandma in German! My other niece and nephew call their two grandmothers, "Grandma J" (my mom) and "Grandma Roberts" ("The grandmother at Robert's house" - Robert is their retarded uncle)... My mother's mother was Nana to us and so special to the nine of us that we have a Yahoo Group for the nine cousins (her grandchildren) called Nana's Nine! And of course, when my Aunt decided SHE wanted to be "Nana" to her grandchildren - we were all outraged (she is nothing as wonderful as our Nana, her mother, was!!) So it can be political too!!!

| Hi Gang! Wow! So much I want to say in reply to all of you. We are really going through the pages this month. It's great!! I love coming here in the morning to see what everyone has to say. Feels like a great big "girlfriend fix" to get my day started. Judy: I had no IDEA that you could view patterns online! I am so excited. I have to find that dang pattern for my dgd. Once I find it, I can get started, which I am actually looking forward to doing. I know that I am going to have to improvise some to get what she wants, but that's all right. I may need to get two or three patterns to get all the pieces she wants. Puffy sleeves, for instance....I love the patterns that you chose, especially the dress. That is very nice. I bet you look smashing in it in Cranberry. Back to the dgd dress...when I was cleaning out my fabric cupboard to pack stuff, I found a lovely piece of fabric that dh brought me from Ghana. It is a fairly stiff sheer fabric, with green embroidery all over it. The "sides" are finished in green scallops. It is really quite lovely. It is several yards long, and about two or three yards wide. Wide enough, actually to use as a half skirt or an underskirt with the scallops on the bottom. I also found a nice length of white chiffon, and a length of white taffeta. So, at least I'm off and running with some of it. Barb: I absolutely LOVE that verse for me! Somehow, I think that you have me "pegged" (ha!) indeed. Ya want to make that one up for me and I'll send it to my grandkids so they can send it to me! (yeah, right! ) Having been in the "Nana" category for a long time, I knew that there were a lot of names. I had no idea how MANY names though. My dd3's kids have 12 grandparents!!! But, they don't seem to have any trouble keeping them straight. Some of them they call by different names (we are "Nana" and "Papa"), but most of them they call Grandma and Grandpa. And, you are right. All of us have very different ways of grandparenting. Unfortunately, most of their grandparents don't even contact them, even at birthdays. This is one of the reasons that I want to be much closer to them as they move into their teens. Teenagers NEED their grandparents. Of course, there IS that Alpha grandparent thing...(EVERY grandparent competes to be the most important in their grandchildren's life....we may not confess to it, but it happens).Happy reading today. Yaknow, I couldn't find any more Nancy Pickard books at Barnes and Noble. Where can I get them? Alida: Waiting to hear from you, darlin'. How's dh? Donna: I don't think that you can replace just any board in a floor. The one we replaced was the threshold between the kitchen and the hallway. Warning- Advice: I know that you probably won't follow our advice about your job, but I am going to echo the others here nevertheless. Working in an environment where you can't use the bathroom, is not only illegal, it is very unhealthy. You need to be drinking LOTS of water. And, you need to be "emptying" your bladder several times a day. You know this. It could also be that your body is holding onto the water you are drinking. I put off going to the bathroom to empty my bladder for so many years, that I stretched my bladder. It has taken more than a year of re-training to get my system back to normal signalling and release. I have developed spasms in my urethra as a result of holding for so long. Now it takes forever to empty my bladder, because my urethra no longer works properly. I know that you are one stubborn woman when it comes to that job, but I urge you to think about the situation that your boss has placed you in, for your own health. Bren: What'cha doin' today? I got Gel Gloss at Home Depot yesterday. Going to try to get all three showers and tubs done today for the open house tomorrow. Rachel: How's it going in Armenia. I bet you are busy as a bee. Shelley: Oh walking Queen! (That's close to the "Dancin' Queen" think ABBA) You are da woman! So, where exactly did this energy and determination come from? And, would you mind sending some my way. Terry: How are you today and what are you planning. I am either moving into a flare or I am solidly there. When I rolled over this morning, I was sore in every single muscle in my body! When I got up it was worse. Now, an hour later, I am still hurting. It may be a weather pressure thing, I don't know. I am feeling pretty good emotionally. Of course, there is the stress of keeping this danged house clean every minute, but I don't think that I can do anything about that. It's clean. We just can't spread out like we are used to doing. We both agreed yesterday that we just love it this clean, but it's a PITA to put everything that we use daily out of sight. Tomorrow is our open house to the public. So, today is a little major cleaning. In addition to sermon writing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm also playing with my new toy. I bought an IPod on EBay and it came yesterday. It is so fun! It holds my entire library of audiobooks! FAbulous. We are going to go out to the Berkshires to stay at our time share for three days tomorrow, so I will be out of touch, probably. I may take the laptop, we'll see. We are having a heat wave, so it will be wonderful to be in the mountains, well such as they are here in Massachusetts. Remember I come from the State that has the high Sierras! Our time share is in a resort with a pool, and because it is a natural pool it is REALLY cold. So, that will be good too. We'll be leaving right after church in order to get out before the hoards (hopefully) arrive for our open house. We haven't heard anything yet from anyone who has viewed it. I'm preaching tomorrow, so off to my barrel (most preachers "recycle" their old sermons for churches that haven't heard them). But, I do rewrite them to make them current and relevant to the church in which I am working. So, today is sermon "re" writing day See ya later

| Alida, fingers and toes cross for a quick and full recovery for Bob! Gosh, what a shock; and coming so soon on the heels of your own surgery. But, hopefully, the surgical intervention will leave him with renewed energy and optimism. Quote:
Tomorrow, we'll take a few days to visit friends who staying in a summer cabin in the Sierras (Peg, up above Auburn at Weathertop). There won't be any internet access there, I'm afraid. Anyways, ...I need to get cracking and finish making some deviled eggs, clean the kitchen, and mop the floors.

| Good morning! Sigh. So much to read ... I'll just jump in. I hope I haven't missed something major! Bob is doing well. We got home around 2PM, after long talks with many health professionals. There were the diet people, the exercise people, the heart health people, etc. All were good and we left the hospital with TONS of reading material. But it was scary, ya know? And now the threat of another attack sorta hangs in the back of your mind. I am sure as the days pass, this worry will become less. Now we just have to remember where the nitroglycerin tablets are! Also, for the first time, I looked at Bob walking when we were at the pharmacy and I saw an old man. I know it was the effects of the surgery, and being a little "unkempt" from a night in the hospital. But that scared me, too. I am used to him being spiffy! Ah. He will be again! Gramma names? I think Nana is the favorite! I am Gramma Lida. The other grandmother is Maw Maw. Where that came from, I don't know! Peg, off in the Berkshires! Have a fabulous time, and please try to get that flare under control, if you can. Can you take your BIG drugs there? It's hard to imagine that show time is now here! Best wishes for a speedy sale! But what a drag about the board that needs replacing. Always something, eh? And what a real bummer about your BF's robbery. That's always been one of my worst fears. Sometimes I am paranoid about locking doors, etc. Judy, you never reported (I think) the outcome of your new A/C. Did it get down to 74 and turn off? Are you happy with it? Do you really notice a difference? That cranberry dress is going to be beautiful! How nice to be able to browse patterns on-line. My grandmother used to sew some of my clothes and I remembers spending HOURS in Marshall Fields looking at patterns. shopping for fabric was another chore. We usually shopped at a specialty fabric store. I remember "Forstman" (sp?) wool. My grandmother liked that stuff. She also did a lot with embroidered silk organza. Do they still make that? I had to laugh that your stains are still on your kitchen ceiling, too. I am so glad I've been dragging my feet on the painting. We are going to call our insurance agent Monday to come and have a look. I think we will need a new ceiling ... it's that bad. There's a friggin' HOLE in one section of the ceiling! As for getting new pages and re-naming pages in Frontpage .... What version do you have? That will make a difference in my instructions. I just upgraded to 2003. I need to buy an instruction book for 2003. I much prefer a book to the help available within the program. As for renaming pages, remember there are TWO ... the "name" and the "title." The "name" is the actual htm or html. The title can be whatever you want! The title is what shows up in the blue bar on top of the page when displayed in a browser. You never want to change the NAME of your home page. That should always be "index.htm" But the title can be changed to anything you want. Click on Folder View, highlight the TITLE part you want to change, and type in the title. If you want to change the name of another htm page other than the index page, just highlight that but make sure you keep the .htm extension. Brenda, you picked out colors! What are they? I am dying to know! That's terrific news about your friend Diane! It's also good news about your DH dodging the layoff bullet for now. Yes, you described my feelings about the web site change to a T. I am tearing apart my baby. Shelley, argh on the Pedometer. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You know you walk A LOT. That would be good enough for me, if I walked, that is! Maybe, because I am not a walker, I do not fully comprehend how important a pedometer is! New lighting? Are you talking about the kitchen ceiling light or the under counter light? Whatever -- I am glad you have LIGHT! How about posting a picture? Yea! on the good colonoscopy results. And a big Whew! too. I loved your card idea for Barb. It would surprise me very much if Barb did not used that one! Barb, Thursday, when son Mark was at the hospital, he mentioned his wife is going to interview for a job at Hallmark! I think she has already had lunch with someone. I've got to get more info on this. She currently works for the Fed and has for years. She is looking for a job change where she can use her expertise more. She is currently getting her Master's at Baker. I think it's in human relations/resources/interpersonal relationships ... along that line. Isn't it terrible that I cannot remember??? Anyway, it would be a stitch if she ended up at Hallmark! LOL. Does Hallmark offer discounts to an employee's mother-in-law? I loved both your Grandma cards! Terry, sorry but I cannot help with Huey's ID either. He certainly looks like some type of sparrow ... and there are so many different sparrows out there! How did your garden tour go? It's such a great way to meet your neighbors. I hope you meet someone you can "connect" with! Yup. That leak was exactly where we thought we had it fixed by the siding guys. SIGH. Donna, yup. Your boss better fix that water problem pronto. It's bad for your health. As for being *****y ... I don't blame you one bit! But yanno, walking in hot and humid conditions does make your body soak up all that moisture! You WILL see results. Keep it up! It's so good for you. (This, from me, the one person who HATES to walk. Ah. Maybe one day I will see the light). Rachel, how wonderful to see your regular posts again! (Clam Chowder? I'm with Brenda, sorta. I don't like those clammy things). I am so glad you are enjoying Armenia and your work there. Who could ask for more? Well, maybe having DH there! Time apart is good, too. You can pass up ice cream? Oh, how I wish I could! Although I do keep it to low carb stuff at least! And Butterfingers! (Barb -- you really must have willpower!) Another week in Armenia, yes? And then .......???? ---------------------- Thank you all for your good wishes for Bob. I am so thankful he had that stress test. Who knows what could have happened if we did not catch this in time. He always figured his heart was good. Leak: son Paul is coming tomorrow to see his Dad and will try to find the source of the problem. Bless his heart! We do have a basement guy coming. That's a problem we've had since we moved in. Some cracks in a corner that were patched. The guy coming from the basement company must think we are having major work done. They sent us a very $$ info packet along with a CD. Hmm. Hope he is not disappointed, or try to tell us we need the house jacked up or something! One plan I have for the kitchen leak is to knock a hole in an upstairs BR wall that leads to the "dead" area above the kitchen. There's a whole ROOM there! Think of it as an attic room above the kitchen that is currently unaccessible. Put a doorway to it in that BR and voil?! Storage space! All we'd have to do is put some plywood down as a "floor." Then, next time there's a leak, we can go into that room with a flashlight and actually SEE where it's coming from. Sounds good to me. Wow. This was long! Hope I didn't bore you guys! XXOO
