Shel: I still swear by what I did for my endos: two days of liquids (not clear) and then a day of clear liquids. It was pretty easy to do. I took that easy small bottle (I forget what it's called), and with each drink, I sucked a lime! Good tip from a parishioner. I was bloated as all get out for about an hours, and then, well.............not.

We changed menus at the last minute and had grilled stead with a wonderful marinade. Tomorrow will be shrimp dill salad.

Judy: You sound like you are really having fun with the sewing. You deserve it, grandma!

Bren: I like the second from the left. I also would get some track lighting in that hall. There are some really nice once these days. Look at the Home Depot lighting department online.

Well, downstairs to watch The Producers on DVR. Have a good evening everyone.

Peace, Peg

Brenda - I think I like the middle 2 colors better - perhaps the second from the left is the one I favor most. The one on the far right is kind of a cheddar yellow on my monitor, so I think that's too orangy (assuming the color looks anything like real life -- but my monitor tends to display darker than normal). The one on the far left looks like a pale tan that hasn't as much life as the other two. I like the very subtle intensity of the middle two colors.

BTW, your picture of the lily is flat out gorgeous! I hope you have a really nice print framed and mounted somewhere in the house.

DH took me to the golf course today as he is eager for me to try playing golf again. A few weeks ago, I was feeling particularly chipper (cherries + yoga) and said I thought my neck and shoulders were in such good shape that I could try golf again. He's off and running - already borrowed a set of irons for me and bought a small golf bag to carry them. I'm not as limber and pain free as I was a few weeks ago, but I still enjoyed hitting a bucket of balls, and practicing on the putting green and chipping greens. DH kept urging me to play "just 9 holes" but I desisted. I need to get some small measure of control going before I want to risk playing and getting hurt.

But, it was ~so~ nice to do something recreational with him. Lately, our recreation interests have diverged and he's usually bored with my proposed activities - so we just go out to eat. The one truly common denominator!

Good morning, ladies. My body alarm works just fine--even on holidays. The good part is, I don't have to be anywhere in particular for the rest of today. And tomorrow.

Bren, I pick #4 and #2. These are the liveliest colors on my screen. I think you've got votes now for every color except #1, which seems to be the closest to what you already have. So...it's still your choice. The flower photo is beautiful--it would make a lovely notecard.

Teel, my DH used to be a regular golfer, and a good one. Like you, I took it up to have something for us to do together, and I didn't suck at it. Back in the day, I was the first woman to insist that women be allowed to play in the corporate tournament, and then went on to "integrate" the corporate weekly league. When he retired, I thought he'd play all the time--but lo--HE QUIT. And I did, too. Hope you enjoy getting back in the game--especially sharing the time with your DH. Now we watchgolf together, although it usually puts me to sleep.

Peg, hope your DH is appreciating your menus, and your efforts, this week. The previews for "The Producers" look hilarious. How was it? We loved the original movie.

Shelley, best wishes with the endo stuff. Good to take care of you. I'm out for a walk or run this morning when it gets light outside. I will no doubt STBO.

Donna, I've recently copied out some recipes for muffins and things that look really delicious. Just haven't got my act together to make them yet. You're wise to get all that done in one go, and spare yourself the heat and the work on a daily basis.

Yesterday afternoon, I did end up at the ice skating rink, and swooshed around for an hour. Nothing fancy, but fun.

Alida, did you get to the movies? I might do that today.

to everyone.

Good morning!

This is going to be a strange week. First, Ashley and Randy are on vacation. I'll go to the office today, work on a lot of little things, be off tomorrow, work from my home (on new web site) on Wednesday, then back to their office Thursday and Friday, with a few very small installs on those days. I hope I'll find the time to get somewhat organized.

Happy Birthday Rachel! I hope you can find the time to drop in soon. We miss you!

Peg, yikes ? the week after next is when you start showing your condo? I'd be going nuts about now. You seem to be very calm and taking things as they come. Good for you!

Shrimp Dill Salad? That sounds delicious! What was that site again?

Ah. "The Producers" is available on pay-per-view. That's one movie I wanted to see! "Springtime For Hitler" cracked me up when I saw it in the original movie. Did you enjoy it?

BTW, do you want us to walk you through the picture thing again? It really is very easy!

Judy, $4k is just about what was rolling around in my head. And Trane, Lennox and Carrier are also the brands I would look at. Son Mark got a new system about a year ago. They rave about it! Say it is quiet, bills are lower, and Beth says she does not get as much dust in the house. One of the extras I would price out is the "whole house" filter thingy. One day without air will be worth it!

Quote:
it is better to purchase a unit to download individual designs from the internet. Many designs are free. The units cost from $130 up. Designs of the correct format can then be written to a blank disk and used in the machine.
You mean you have to buy a separate unit just to download designs from the net? You can't use your regular CD or DVD burner on your computer to do that? I take it this separate unit is what converts the downloaded designs into the correct format? Sheesh. Why can't the correct format be downloaded directly to a CD on your computer? (I know! I ask a lot of questions!)

Brenda, that lily picture is gorgeous! This is another one that's suitable for framing!

As for paint colors, I like the color of the far right one (closest to the doorway) but the tone is too bright. My favorite of them all is the one next to it, which is a little grayed down. I tend to like those colors. The other two seem too much like your existing wall color. How are the colors in the sun and at night?

Shelley, yesterday I stopped in at a grand opening of a beauty place called Ulta. The gal in line in front of me had her big toe nails painted as little flags! I thought of you and your RED toenails.

CONGRATULATIONS on that three pound whoosh! Way to Go!

Oh. It's time for the clear liquids thingy? I remember when Bob did his. He took his liquids like a trooper. He's much braver than I! Peg, what was your "system" again? Why did you switch to liquids a few days earlier?

Barb, nuts! Wish I had caught your post earlier. We went to the Palazzo on 135th. We did see "The Lake House." I enjoyed it. But I left the theater trying to get my mind around the whole time thing. Best to just let your "willing suspension of disbelief" take over and enjoy the movie without getting technical! I cried at the end.

If you need a good beauty supply house, I can recommend the new Ulta at 119th and BlackBob. They had a %-off coupon in Sunday's paper, along with a free gift bag which had cotton balls, shampoo, conditioner and a lip balm. If you need a hair dryer or curling Iron (?) that's the place to go! They also carry many cosmetics lines, perfumes, spa stuff ? oh, all sorts of things.

Terry, golf? I used to play, too! I was not very good, but I had a pretty swing. Pros always told me that. Then they would wonder why the ball didn't go very far! Yanno, you could play like I used to. If I didn't like the lie, I'd just move the ball to the center of the fairway. Made play a lot faster, too. My problem was weather. It had to be 70 with no humidity for me to enjoy the game! Meanwhile, my clubs rust in the garage. Not sure I can play any more with a fused wrist. Hmm. On second thought, it may help!

Are you worried that you may mess up your back or your neck?

How wonderful your DH is excited about your possibly playing again. He was sweet to get you some clubs and go with you. Sounds like he would enjoy having you as a golf partner again!

Donna, how wonderful you get FREE mammograms! Look at it this way: a mammo is a lot better than a colonoscopy!

I vote to go and turn off your neighbor's water. I am sure they left and just forgot they had the sprinkler running!

Glow worm? LOL! Hey, I could have used a flash light!

OMG. I hesitate to use my oven in the summer and I have a/c! But now you have wonderful muffins and a quiche! I keep forgetting about those Mock Danishes. I used them as a treat. Thanks for the reminder! I think I'll make some tonight.

Donna, my friend, your garden is FANTASTIC! Don't think for one minute it is not. I can't wait to see the black lily! You are definitely the Garden Queen of the Board!

------------------

Gosh. Time to run and get the day going! Have a good one! XXOO

Yes, exactly - that and my hands. Have you ever missed the ball and swung the club right into the ground? Ouch! I met a woman who actually broke her thumb doing that. Although I used to have a good swing and hit a long ball, I was never a good golfer. DH has a Medicus, a practice club, with hinges. The reason for the hinges is to teach how swing correctly. With a proper form, the hinges do not bend. But, I find those hinges are a safety feature, too. If I hit into the ground, the hinge bends and breaks the force.

Donna, I agree with Alida (and everyone!) that your gardening and garden are superior. Remember, mine is just a patio garden. It doesn't require major weekly maintenance. Except for the potted plants, it gets watered via a drip system. I'm just lucky the prior owners of the unit cared so much and made it so pretty.

I have a handy man coming today to re-organize the garage. He is the fantastic young man who helped me so much last year when I was getting the old house ready to sell. I feel very lucky. I'm glad it's not going to be too hot; it's only supposed to be in the high 70s. So, he'll be very comfortable working in the garage. I always made him nice snacks and nice lunches, which has paid off. He's very busy these days, but was willing to take a day off from his other job and work with me.

As for a camera, we decided on the Canon Powershot SD700 IS. It was the image stabilization that was the deciding factor for me. It's the only camera in it's class I could find that has image stabilization. We ordered it from Amazon, because they offered one of the better prices and with free shipping. (Geez, I hate paying the outrageous shipping a lot of internet sellers charge - like shipping is a profit center!)

DH and I liked The Lake House. I found some comments on the IMDB boards that suggested theories to fill in some of the plot conumdrums due to the time travel. But, as Alida says, it's a beautiful movie and better to just suspend logic about some of the story elements.

Hola gang!
I'm taking a water break. I got my 3.36 mi walk in this morning and I just got back from the grocery store...woohoo! I don't know why, but over the last few years or so, grocery shopping has just become a dreaded chore...and I used to not mind it so much. Dunno...
Anyhoo....I'm pondering what to do with myself the rest of the day. I am giving great consideration to peeling off the wallpaper in the guest bathroom(Bren and Rachel's BR ) I need to give my wallpaper gal a call and see how long her waiting list is. I think I will only paper an accent wall in that BR. If she can get to me relatively soon, then I may proceed. My other thought for the day was to do nothing...guess what's really looking good at the moment?...heh!

Alida...I'll do my *liquids* starting next Sunday. I just needed to get everything to have on hand. The reason some folks start a day early with full liquids is, ummm...if their intestinal tract is a little slower, if you know what I mean. I'm also doing the pill prep, so they recommend that you NOT have meat 48 hrs before the test. That will KILL me...I'm such a steak and broccoli gal!!

Peg...see above comment on the liquids...LOL. Yeah...I expect the *bloated....then not*!!! LOL...you are a funny bunny!!! Whatcha doin' today?

Teel...I sure want to learn to play golf. My dad was a big golfer and I even caddied for him a few times when I was in jr. high. Anyhoo....I would love to take lessons and learn the game. Being outdoors on a beautiful course would be so relaxing I think....except for the frustration of getting that darn little ball into that STUPID HOLE!!! AARRGGHHH....oh....what was I saying about relaxing???? LOL!

Bren...made a decision about the paint color yet? Yanno...my theory on that is, BE BOLD!!! If you don't like it, it won't cost that much to *cover it up* with another color. JMO. I'm really leaning towards a buttery yellow or light mocha-ish color for my LR as well. Great minds think alike!!!

Barb...Didya STBO??? LOL! I sure did this morning....ugh! Our humidity is off the scale. But....in the end, that may be a good thing...they say all that warm moist air may trigger some thunderstorms later this evening. Just as long as they dont' go tornadic, I'll take some boomers and rain!

Judy...what up in Texas today? How's your dad settling into his new surroundings? Hope he's doing well and liking his new place. That means alot to an elderly person. I sure wish my FIL would consider moving into town. He lives about 20 miles out in the country, and that's a big drive for an 82 year old man to make just to get a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. But, he remains stubborn and unwilling to relocate. We are all hoping he will reconsider, and soon.

Rachel...did you have a big BD blowout???? Details....we want details!

Donna...did you say you were off work today as well...or am I having CRS???
Hope you have a stress free day which ever way you end up spending it.

Alrighty gals...I'm off to do some small chores, then go look at the wallpaper in that BR. I also want a new light fixture, and a new mirror in there. I'm thinking a nice oval mirror in a frame. All the baths need new vanities and fixtures as well. It's just a never ending thing....ahhhh the joys of home improvement!! LOL!!

later, chickadees!

Morning Girlfriends,

Anyone else love the sounds of other people working? PTL, DDad has hired a cleaning service on a bi-weekely basis to take care of his part of the house. They are downstairs now, vacuuming and dusting away. I love it!

Golf? Now that was something I was wretched at, unless you count miniature golf , Barb, TB, Alida

Movies? We watched the latest Wallace and Gromit last night on DVD, LOL. That's requires suspension of belief, but only on the cartoon level. I think we have The Producers in the que for tonight.
Thanks all for weighing in on the paint colors. I'm not sure any of the samples you saw will be the absolute final choice, but you should have seen the ones that weren't in the picture. Ack! What a difference between Chip and Wall. You all did confirm some of my thoughts and concerns. Onward!

Shell, your dinner out sounds wonderful. I'm licking my chops! Aw, you'll ace that endo. Although I have to say, I never liked having a procedure done where I knew everyone in the room!

I may be peeling wallpaper today, too, unless I talk myself out of it!

Donna, what a batch of cooking, girl! Makes me tired thinking about it, but I know you'll sure be glad to have goodies ready to eat this week. So gald you're getting your mammo. I hope all of us are regulars with that.

And, a happy belated Canada Day!

Judy, I know what you mean about pressure washing the house. Looks better, but you see those little places. I'd settle for DH's washing the front and back entrances, and I'd love to get the windows clean again. Maybe the mood will strike?

TB, take care on the golf course--oh I know you will, but it can be easy to overdo it and not realize it. You know that swing into the ground thing? That's why I only play miniature golf :o A handyman coming? Lucky you!!

The camera sounds great; hope to see some of your test shots when you receive it

Peg, yummy meals. I'll be you give DH a run for his money on your cooking week. Is there much left for you to do before your house goes on the market?

You are so right about the hall lighting--it's abysmal. The foyer, too. I'm thinking we'll go looking for fixtures this afternoon

Alida, that is quite a different schedule for you this week. If the owners are on vacation, does that mean you're in charge?

We have Ulta stores here. They're really good for finding products the big boxes don't carry, as well as the most popular salon brands. If you've signed up with them, Alida, you'll get a flyer with a $5 discount coupon every now and then. Enjoy!

We have an electronic air filter unit attached to our furnace/AC. The newer ones are probably more efficient, but even so DH's allergies have been better since we've been here. There is less dust, too, but it may also be because we never have the windows open due to said allergies.

Judy, what are you up to today? Somehow I doubt if you're having a lazy day!

Rach, bless you. If any of you didn't get her email, she's having a h*llish time getting packed up in Georgia. Good vibes coming your way, girlfriend.

Yesterday, we were up on the roof taking down parts of our weather station for repair. Wouldn't you know it, we had to make a hasty exit after disturbing a wasp's nest. I don't know if we looked more like Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello, or Ethel and Lucy, but it must have looked comical. Fortunately, the wasps were slow and lazy (and few in number) and we didn't get any stings.

More rain last night. Good for the yard, but postpones so many of the things I had on my "list" Oh well! Maybe it's a good shopping day?

OK it's 11am and I haven't eaten anything yet. I know better than that. See ya later, kids.

Yes, I did STBO. I ran for 45 minutes around the neighborhood, and it was very pleasant. Since then, I've been sticking close to the phone. We signed a contract with some outfit in Florida to sell our vacation lot in Bella Vista, Arkansas (purchased when we were young and into golf), and they've been hard to get in touch with for updated information. I'm still waiting for the promised call. DH said he'd stay by the phone later, so I can get outta here.

I've been entertaining myself by reading through some of my low-carb library and journals. If you're interested in that, I've posted over in the Challenge forum, under Shelley's Yankee Doodle.

I've got a shopping list for COSTCO. And then...maybe a movie today. I don't think I'd have any trouble letting "The Lake House" wash over me, plot glitches and all. I've never been much troubled by logic.

Well, here's Brenda! Hey gal. Yes, listening to someone else clean is fine with me. But no wallpaper-peeling here today, even though I've got a guest bathroom in dire need of a re-do, like everything else in this house.

I think I'll go fix myself some lunch, and then exchange my workout clothes for some other knockaround outfit. Ambling around Costco actually sounds like a good idea.

Hi Gang!

Well, Bren, I can't wait to see what you pick for those walls. I do know that my bf keeps telling me that light bright colors are the most attractive in the rooms. The more light you can bring/let in the better. So, that's what i have done. My walls are a distinct yellow, and though I have a woefully dark hallway, the color does enhance when the lights are off.

Barb: I vote for Costco. I love to wander the aisles in that store. We don't have it out here, but I will have it in CA. Have a good time!

Shel: So good to hear from you in the day time!

Same for you, Judy!

I'm cleaning out my desk today. I started this morning thinking it would just take a little while, and I'm still doing it!! Dang! I'm trying to get things off the top so I can clean it. Now, it just has MORE on top because I found stuff that I didn't know were in my drawers! I did clean out a cupboard over the refrigerator and got the top of the refrigerator cleaned. I don't know about you, but that is a place that seldom gets attention around here.

DH and I are filling lots and lots of trash bags! We can't believe that we have accumulated so much stuff since we moved in 6 years ago. We thought that we have "pared" down when we moved. Dang!

Just got off the phone with DD3. She's depressed and tired. Boy, do I remember what that feels like. I remember in my mid 30's with three kids and wanting to just be put in the hospital so that someone would bring me my meals, and give me a morphine drip so I could sleep. Bless her heart. I hope that she gets it worked out. You will be proud of me that I didn't offer to rescue her. I did offer to help if she could identify a way.

I'll be back.
Peace, Peg

Okay, I'm back. I see Peg sneaked a post in there while I was playing with the pictures. Morning, Peg.

First, does anyone know why the page seems to be so wide. All of my words are going right off the screen. Something I've done?

I decided this morning to get up bright and early and cut the grass. It was still a little damp, but oh well! It's done now and it's not even 11 a.m. here. So, nice to have an extra day off. I'll pay for it tomorrow though. So, don't count on a post from me tomorrow. And...yes I sure did STBO. Last night as it was cooling down I checked the temperature and it was ONLY 118!!!! A couple of hours of rain would be wonderful right now. Everything is so dry and yesterday I watched a stupid woman throw a cigarette out her car window. Reminds me I have to get that phone number so I can call and report stupid people like that.

Alida: I'm so sorry I didn't answer your question yesterday about cleaning my rug. It came out really clean. But, I think there must have been some kind of sizing or something in it that came out in the cleaning. It's really slippery on the floor now. Before, I could drag the coffee table off of it to do my vaccuuming and now it just makes the rug all bunch up. Maybe I'll put some of those rubber thingys under the corners and that might help.

Terry: I owe you an apology too. I'm so bad about answering questions. Usually I keep a post it note right by the computer so I can write them down, but I'm at home now and there aren't any here. Anyway, yes, those were Shasta Daisies in the garden. I really wish I hadn't planted them. When they seed they grow everywhere, even in my lawn. Maybe it's just cause we have such sandy soil here. Did you want some seeds? How did the pictures turn out of your garden with your lights on? I tried some and they didn't come out at all. Too dark I guess and the lights just weren't bright enough even though we have over 20 solar lights in the backyard.

Hang on.....another hot flush. In this weather they sure aren't fun. Talk about sweating!!!

Brenda: Thanks, I think I will order from Netrition. Even dh agreed that it would be the wise thing to do instead of waiting until October when we are on holidays and then have to fill the cupboards to bring it all back.

Peg: I'm sure glad it isn't us selling our house. It would take years to clean all the mess out of this place. Dh is a packrat!! I suggested yesterday that we take a load to the dump and he didn't think anything needed to go. There is so much crap in the basement that I hate to do down there. I must be getting older...it doesn't even bother me anymore to throw out old ornaments that I've had for years. I just hate the clutter now. Whenever you get tired of all the sorting and stuff, just remember what Rachel is going through!

Shelley: I'm with you on grocery shopping. I always spend more than I intend to and buy stuff I don't need. I did love it when the kids were little cause I had to buy good food for them and it took time to plan meals and do the shopping. I enjoy that kind of stuff. With just the two of us at home now, it's not as much fun.

Judy: Did you get that nap in? Yesterday afternoon I had two of them. I fell asleep outside on the patio when I was trying to read. Not a good thing to do when the temp. is registering 112 there. I burned through my shorts!

Well ladies, I'm going to head on over to Netrition and see what damage I can make on my credit card and then I have blueberry muffins to make. What I'd really like to do is go to town and do a Costco run. (Thanks Brenda! lol) But, that's not going to happen. Dh is at work and it's just too damned hot to go anywhere. Talk to you all soon.

Donna,
I think your pic is borderline being almost to large. If you will email it to me, I'll reduce it for you and repost it. BTW...what a beautiful wussy cat!!!! Now don't go making fun of him 'cause he's a big boy...LOL. His coat is gorgeous!
I'll send you a PM with my email addy if you want me to see if I can help.

I'm going to write in skinny columns
until someone techie figures out how
to fix the width!

Movie Review:
The Lake House on DVD is
definitely going to be added to
my collection. In addition to the
chemistry between Sandra Bullock
and Keanu Reeves (my faves), I
can't get enough of the Chicago
scenery. Woo woo! Loving camera
views of my favorite city, and a
beautiful lake house besides.

Maybe you could quarrel with
the physics, but you can't
resist the romance.

Donna--hope you're not hurting
too bad from sunburn. Yikes!
Find the coolest spot you can.

Costco was fine. Artichokes,
a vat of cream cheese, fresh
mixed greens, etc. etc. I can
usually get out of there for
about $100.

The real estate guy did call
and talked to DH. It's a non-
binding contract, so we'll just
wait until something happens,
if ever.

Now to slide into a lazy evening.

OK....I took the long way around, or as my Nana used to say....I went all the way around my fist to get to my thumb....
Anyhoooo....I think I fixed the *BIG* problem. I saved the kitty picture to my hard drive, then went into photo shop and cropped it and reduced the size a bit and re-attached it to Donna's post. Did it work??? I'm not getting the *stretched out* screen thingie now.
Yay! Techie....I'm not, but I think I did it yes?

(((hugs)))
