| Good morning! Shrimp Scampi and chicken with roasted red pepper sauce ? it's only 5:15 am and you guys have me thinking about dinner! Yesterday I did make cauliflower with blue cheese. I love that stuff. Other than that, a rather dull meal of hamburger patties and green beans. But the tomatoes Bob is getting are delicious. We serve them Caprese style with buffalo mozzarella. Barb, I have to agree with you about Dr. Phil as an MC. He should keep his day job. Peg, sorry, I had forgotten about your DH's problem. I guess I assumed he was better. It's STILL hanging on? That poor man. I am glad he finally has a specialist. Hopefully this colonoscopy will get to the bottom of the problem (no pun intended). The doctor asked you if you were a nurse? You must have oozed knowledge! Good for you for taking control. I am really beginning to think that as we get older, it's a good thing to have someone go to the doctor with you, especially for problems of a more serious nature. You think you hear and understand everything, but once you get home you realize you missed something or an important question wasn't asked. Brenda, is this weather station your husband's hobby? Years ago, when my DH still had his business, he designed a fun weather station. It was a cling film thingy you put on your window with a hole in it. The legends? You got it. If you see the sun = it's sunny, etc. It was cute. Thanks everyone for your URL suggestions. The name Firehouse is hard to work with. The reason it's called that is because the original guy who started the business was a fireman doing the window cleaning during his off-hours. Also, one has to be careful not to sound like a window manufacturer. That's why FirehouseWindows would be out, as would windows-by-firehouse. Although, Shelley's idea of FHtintandclean is good. And Teel, thanks for ALL your ideas! I like firehouse-does-windows! Also, FirehouseInc. is good, too! I struggled with the web site yesterday. Maybe it's because I feel like I am *******izing my original site??? My site was a little more "elegant." This one is more bold and punchy. Has to be with their logo:

| Peg and Brenda--that's what I mean! Supper can be sublime AND simple. Alida, if those window people are no longer associated with the fireman/firehouse origins, perhaps it IS time for a nifty abbreviation--or a new name altogether. In any case, it's hard to explain all the elements of a window business which happens to exclude actually installing windows. And then there are the shower doors....A friend at work expressed an interested in yoga, but explained that she couldn't do down dog or cobra. Turns out she was using some athletic style video, and the fast transitions from one posture to another were the main difficulty. What she really needs to do is take a beginner class. However, she liked Candlelight Yoga (from Crunch studio, with Sara Ivanhoe) which is one of my favorites. Today I'm taking her my "I Want That Body" weight training video with Tamilee Webb. She wants my body! I'm happy to help out people who ask. But it's a RARE individual who actually follows through on her good intentions. Eventually my videos wander back, along with the borrower's guilty apology. Enjoyment is the only motivation that works, even when you're working very hard. It goes beyond enjoyment--to joy itself. See ya later, babes. |

| Silly anecdote of the day: Last night when I went to bed, my right thigh muscles were "twitching." Not exactly restless legs...no pain...just twitching. But that was enough annoyance to make it hard to fall asleep. So I got up and opened a new bar of Irish Spring, and put that in the bed nearby. Guess what? No more twitching, and I fell asleep in a jiffy. If this happens again, I'll let you know. (For those of you who didn't click over to the link in previous posts here, this is the remedy for RLS suggested by "believers" on a different forum).P. S. to Alida: There's a certain subliminal effect to that Fireman logo--works on both males and females. Notice how many lighthouses you see on FD cards? |

| Hi guys! Just got showered and shampooed...yeppa...I STBO on my walk this morning. Not as bad as the last few days though...the humidity was only 58% this morning at 69 degrees. I think I hear Kohl's calling me today...big sale(supposedly). I am in need of some kitchen stuff, mainly a new toaster oven. Also I think there could possibly be some items for DD and DGS for Christmas. I like to get as much of that outta the way as possible...LOL. Usually, I am mostly done by July, except for the *big* gift. I learned waaaay early where DD is involved...she changes her mind at the last minute at what she would like for Christmas. Ahhhhh well...perhaps some *stocking stuffers* can be found today at least. Alida...Does *firehouse* have to be in the www. addy? I mean if the business is NOT actually called FH, then maybe it would get more hits and traffic if it were the real name? Hope you hit on something catchy at any rate. Barb...hummmmm Irish Spring, eh? What did your DH say? I'm sure mine would think I'd lost what few brain cells I have left...LOL. Glad it did the trick. Bren...which direction are you going in today, sweetie? Painting, wallpaper stripping, shopping??? So much to do...so little daylight...heh! Hope you get everything accomplished with energy to spare! Judy...what's on your agenda? More creative sewing? Have fun! Peg...cleaning day? I gave my LR, BR and master bath a *lick and a promise* as my Nana used to say...a lick of the duster and vacuum, and a promise to do better next time Teel...hope you got the email. I almost got your addy wrong...had to go back and add a letter! Anyhoo...what will occupy your time today? Donna...working girl! You are making me look bad...all your cooking and gardening. I did water the marigolds this morning, but I don't hold out much hope for the little darlings. They looked pretty wilted. The rain missed us 2 days ago, and the next chance is over the weekend, but the % is not very encouraging....just mostly *dash & splash* at the most. Rach...still sending good vibes to you, dearie! Hope you are in a Zen state Alrighty goils....gonna eat an early lunch so I can go *shop til I drop*...LOL. I'm sure I'll check back in later. Wish me luck! later, chickadees! Shell

| Good morning ladies. Any rain out your way? Then, please, send some to us. All we have been getting is dry lightning at night and some clouds. All kinds of fires popping up due to the lightning. None near us ....yet. Temperatures are still well over 100 everyday and only dropping into the 80's at night. Thank goodness for the little window airconditioner in the bedroom. Even the dogs and the cat head there every so often to lay on the bed and cool down. I have no idea where I am with the posts, so if I don't mention everyone, please forgive me. It's not done deliberately. Peg: That dinner sounds heavenly. I've been craving squash lately and for some reason the stores don't have any. I can't wait for our little veggie wagon to open up at the local farm. That won't happen until next month though. Acorn squash for .25 can't beat that. I've been in the Mojave Desert. The heat didn't bother me....it was the wind. We had to pull in a campground and wait it out cause it was impossible to drive in. We just had a truck and camper at the time and the crosswinds were actually picking up my side of the truck and then slamming it back onto the ground. So scary. I was so glad to see that sign for the campground...even if it was on the air force base. (pretty noisy). Judy: Any more sewing done lately? I can still remember the satisfying feeling after making something. My mom was a big lady and back in those days (the 60's) you could only buy clothes in black for big sizes. I can remember her coming home crying cause eveything was so old looking. Then in high school I learned how to sew, so I started making her clothes. The look on her face after making her a pink suit, or a pale blue jumper was sooooo worth the time it took. I bet you feel the same way after completing a project. Terry: No nighttime garden pictures yet? I'm having a terrible time with my garden this year. Too much heat and not being home during the day, I can't get everything watered. A lot of my flowers have just given up. Of course, I have my favorites that get watered as soon as I get home. I'm trying to grow a blue hydrangea by putting chemicals in the ground to get the flower to change colour. It's just a small plant so no flowers this year, but I've caught it at just the moment when it's laying on the ground and would have died if I hadn't watered it immediately. It's definitely a challenge! Shelley: Way to go on the 5 lb. loss. You've worked so hard and now it's paying off. STBO doesn't seem to help me to lose any weight. Alida: How's the logo coming? I wouldn't have a clue how to make up a webpage, but then even if I did....I probably wouldn't have any time to do it. You guys that know all this techie stuff just amaze me. Rachel: I can't believe all the "stuff" that you are going through. I guess I just thought that you moved into a house with everything already there and when you moved out it was all left behind for the next person, except for personal things. I can't imagine moving all that stuff from one continent to another. You poor girl.....you're definitely going to need a rest when this is all over with. Barb: It must be frustrating to loan people videos and know how much better they will feel after doing the exercises only to have them returned and not really used. Maybe not enough time is the problem? I know we should set aside time to exercise, but sometimes it just doesn't work with our schedules. I still have to learn how to do that. Brenda: You've definitely gotten a lot done on the "honey-do" list. Where are you finding your energy? Mine is just sapped cause of the heat. Some days, it's even hard to breathe...walk outside and you can feel your breath being sucked out from the heat. Well, I don't know if I'm retaining water or what....but my weight is just climbing by 2 pounds a day. I've been really busy at work and on Tuesday I only managed to get down 1 bottle of water instead of my usual 4 or more. Also, I haven't cooked much due to the heat. It's just salad for lunch and sometimes the same for dinner. Maybe I'm not eating enough? All I know is that this morning I topped off the scale at 160.5!! Better be gone tomorrow....or....you'll hear me screaming all the way to California.

| Donna, my night time pics of the patio lights really didn't come out. Did you see the pictures I posted yesterday of a dragonfly ? I took them with the old camera - and that maybe it's last "hurrah"! My new camera came last night ( Barb, keep me posted on the soap cure, LOL! My twiches returned briefly last night. I'm taking magnesium malate and methylcobalamin (a form of vitamin B12), but I just started the viatmin B12 so it's too soon to tell. Methylcobalamin is supposed to help nerve/muscle action. I'm wondering if my computer chair is to blame? The one I'm using now is from the dining set and it digs into my thighs if I lean forward (which I do a lot at the PC).

| Terry: Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I took some single pictures of some of my lilies and my passion fruit vine in bloom, after seeing the one that Brenda took. I'll have to wait until I get to town to get them developed. Good luck with the new camera. I forgot to say that I put in my first order with Netrition. I must have rocks in my head!! $33.00 for postage? It will take 2 weeks for the order to get here too and they don't guarantee that it won't get hung up in customs. I think I'll have to try and find a place in Canada to put in my orders.

| Good grief, Donna. Netrition charges a flat 4.95 for the US, no matter how much you order. Sorry I recommended it! I wish I could send you some rain, but I think we are starting our dry season now, too. We've had more in May and June than we've had in many years, so I will be grateful for that. Alida, I'm sorry but that Firehouse logo reminds me SO much of the decal you see on so many good ole boy pickups around here-- an outline of a little boy peeing with whatever the decal is p*ssing on written underneath. (Sorry to be crude!) I do think it's interesting how many firefighters have businesses.....on our last move the big pieces were handled by "Three Alarm Movers" TB, I loved your Dragonfly pics. Can't wait to hear how you like your new camera though, and see some samples. Yup, why not try a different chair--that might indeed be the problem. Peg, you had your bf call this morning? How's the bathroom looking? Judy, I want to see more pictures of your sewing, girl! Barb, I'm glad you tried the soap recommendation from Dr. Gott's column/via that other discussion group. Good for you for having some curiosity! Who knows! Shell, I'm so proud of your consistent walking program. GO GIRL! Let us know what you come home with from Kohl's. ______________________ Grocery shopping and errands this morning for me. Now I need to do some paperwork and make some calls to find a home for some furniture Dad wants to donate from downstairs. Good thing--you can hardly move without bumping your shins. Good pieces, but Mom's style, not his. After it cools this evening, back outside for me. The front yard beckons for a mowing -- "CUT ME, CUT ME!!!!! " See ya later, gators...

| just playing around and posted this pic. (scroll down a bit) Let's see if I remembered how to do it. Back from Kohl's. Didn't really score to big...some kitchen towels, some new undies, a shirt and pair of shorts for DH and a sleep tee and shorts for me. Oh, yeah...and a cheapie pair of flip flops for watering the yard in. I did pick up another set of kitchen towels for DD as a extra santa gift. I try and give her something for her kitchen every year...gadgets, potholders, towels, etc. OK...off to put in a load of laundry. ((((hugs to all)))) Shell

| Hi Gang! I'm on borrowed time as I wait for my timer to go off on LC pizza. Just a fly by and then more later. Discovered a NEW spot on the ceiling in the basement last night before bed. It was WET!!! Found out it was coming from the upstairs kitchen sink or vicinity! We've jerryrigged so much stuff up there that I was scared to death. Called the plumber and it was a new garbage disposal! $200. later, we are set. Also tried out the jacuzzi tub, which we never use and found out it works. Yay! If there is anymore WATER leaks in this place, we may just sneak out in the middle of the night. Shelley: Your "fu-kitty" looks a lot like my Persephone. I will try to find a pic of her to post. She was a calico and was 22 when she died. She was my dd1's cat, so was very, very special to me. She became mine after dd1 died. She made four moves with us! Lots and lots of memories with her. Bren: I never got to the bathroom. Can you believe that??? I suspect that you can! I am the QUEEN of the procrastinators, remember? But, to be fair the afternoon was spent with the dam* plumber. (fixing the pipes, okay??) Back later, Peg

| Shelley, that's an "Awwww" picture for sure. I love that Fu-Kitty would reach out and give her Danny Boy a gentle paw pat. What sweethearts! Gosh, Peg, it sounds like you need umbrellas inside and outside when you're in Mass. Thank goodness you'll be able to dry out in So.Cal before too long! Do you make your own LC pizza? If so, do you have a recipe? I'm so-so on my current LC pizza recipes. Judy, you lil' bear turned out to be just charming! What a fun project. I'm looking forward to seeing her in her tra-la wardrobe. Reminds me of my friend's 3-yr old granddaughter on a shopping trip. The wee one really liked the dress she tried on and said (preening), "It's ~so~ me!". Where do they get it at that age? LOL! Donna, I got a few Balfour's Impatien (aka Touch-Me-Not and Poor Man's Orchid) seeds from my friend, Tommy. Do you still want some? The seeds come from plants that were originally grown in the yard at my old house.
