Hello all you dear and wonderful persons!!!

Thank you for your forgiveness in my extended absence? and THANK YOU for all your lovely birthday wishes ? even if I am retrieving them belatedly! I spent it pre-packing the house from 8am-2am. DH and I celebrated in Spain two weeks ago because I knew the actual ?day? would be horrible? and it was. So the gourmet meal we had in Salamanca and then the dinner we had with my best girlfriends ? those were the real celebrations

My mother tells me that I was born at 3:30pm during a tremendous thunderstorm ? a few days early because I was induced ? my due date conflicted with the doctor?s weekly golf game and lord knows that in 1963 the most important person in the birthing process was the doctor (not the mother nor the child)? something she is still angry about. It was NOT an air-conditioned hospital ? and it was a hot summer ? she slept on the living room floor for the month or so before I arrived with a fan blowing on her over iced water.

As I have mentioned to some of you aside? we have heard NOTHING about the Armenia post and so we have spent the last six days suffering the worst pack-out and move we?ve ever had. Everything we own (except our clothing) including the car is now in a 45 foot container on it?s way across the country and then onto the Black Sea, then the Bosporus, then the Mediterranean, then the Atlantic, and finally to the port of either Baltimore or Charleston. We should see it again in about 3 months. At that time it will go into storage until we get the next long term assignment and it gets put BACK on a boat for wherever that may be!

Gals, I so appreciated your prayers and good thoughts during this last week ? I?m so grateful to you all, really! XXXXOOOO

It?ll be a long time before I see my kitchen stuff again and that is actually a little depressing ? in large part because suitcase living gets old fast and this may be a long stretch ? we?ll see.

It probably is not the time to try and respond and comment on all the entries I?ve missed? but I did want to comment that I have LOVED all the pix that you?ve been posting, Teel?s GORGEOUS garden (it looks like a catalogue!!), Shelley?s cherries (WOW!), Brenda?s paint samples? and those lilies? and Donna that fat cat.. Judy ? I LOVED the bear (you are sooo talented)!! All so very neat!

And Alida?. Bravisimo on the insurance claims!!

And what is STBO?

I have been ignoring my weight, my diet and my exercise for the better part of the last month ? the last time I got on a scale I was 150 ? a good 20 over my goal weight. I leave tomorrow for a short three weeks assignment in Armenia and will be able to focus on both my eating AND my walking/exercising during those three weeks. I am hoping to get back down to a reasonable 142 or so before August? I should be able to get close ? we?ll see? <<sigh>> another rollercoaster.

... it's so nice to be back... I have missed you all terribly... <<sigh>> much love to you - R

Greetings, Rachel! Great to see your newsy post. Don't worry about "catching up." Life goes forward. As for STBO? That's what you've been doing the last few weeks: Sweating The Big One. Usually it refers to heavy exercise, and you've had that and mental anguish as well.

I have a mental picture of that big container with all your stuff bobbing across the ocean--sort of an animated cartoon with a dotted line all the way from Istanbul to Charleston. We'll absolutely hope for the best.

It's been years since I thought of the big pack-ups in my childhood, and what a pain for my mother! Every two years or so, everything got moved by the military, including two Pacific and one Atlantic crossings. For many years, the move included a grand piano. (Your tax dollars at work.) This gives you an idea why I am not a "house" person. I was never attached to anything domestic--house, property, garden. Or even friends, for that matter. That part has, I hope, changed.

In fact, today, my sister in CO is meeting up with two friends of hers she hasn't seen since high school, when we lived in Madrid. She's very excited about it, and I can't wait to hear how that reunion goes.

Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth does demonstrate that global warming and massive CO2 emissions are having dramatic and deadly consequences. It doesn't offer much in the way of suggestions for solving it. If you stay for the credits, they list some ideas in the fine print. So basically, the film is a campaign ploy based on a slide show Gore has been shlepping around. He's still boring. IMHO, a promising leader would offer something in the way of a plan, even a faulty one. This movie just paints a picture of a hopelessly huge problem.

Judy, I used to see a GYN for annuals, and never went to the GP unless I was sick. I never got sick, so I felt like I didn't have a "regular" doctor. The truth is, I didn't like having my only visit to the GP annually be the one with my legs in the air! So last year, I switched from the GYN to a nurse practitioner--very nice woman--for the girl stuff, and promised my GP I'd show up at least annually and keep my office records up to date. He's monitoring my thyroid meds, and other bloodwork. It all counts as "well woman" and I'm not sure how it shakes out in the insurance. But I feel better getting to know my "regular" doctor face-to-face. It's definitely time for you to make plans for that dental work. I got high-end coverage last year in preparation for DH's major ordeal. It's still expensive, but ya gotta do...etc.

BTW, DH made a speedy recovery from the "flu." I'm happy he's feeling fine, and I'll leave it to him to schedule a make-up date with the dentist.

Family day today. I'll be back this evening to see what ya'll are up to. Find some time to relax and enjoy the weekend!

Hi Gang!

Rachel!!! How great to see you!! Well, girl, it sounds as if you have gone a little back in our posts. Don't worry about catching up. As Barb says, life goes on, and so do we. But, as I said a few pages back, your chair is here always waiting for you! I loved Barb's image of your stuff bobbing across the ocean. Geez! I just can't imagine doing that, girlfriend. So, after Armenia, where will you live? Can you rent a furnished apt. somewhere and make it approximate home? Will you come back here with your folks? I'm still waiting to meet your sweet DH and introduce him to mine. Our condo goes on the market on Wednesday, and if it sells right away, we may be leaving as soon as September. But, yesterday, we learned that two condos here in the complex were on the market 50 days before they sold. However, they were both on the other side of the complex and didn't have water views. IMHO, we have the best view in the complex. We've been in almost all the condos on the water side. Sigh.

Brenda:
Quote:
while men seem to need goals, women derive their highest sense of satisfaction and purpose relationally, which is more circular than direct. We've taken on the goal obsession at the time as we've taken on the mantle of equality, but not examining whether it fits our true nature. Women working together need a new paradigm.
See, now, THIS is why I NEED you posting! THIS is the incredible thoughtfulness and wisdom that you bring to this thread. I do so believe this, and try very hard to live it. I have puzzled more than one search committee with my unwillingness to name my goals for my future in ministry. In my belief system, God happens to life while you are making goals for your life. Since my Robyn's death, I have tried to live each day without worrying too much about tomorrow. (Definitely not Type A, Judy ) Now, I don't mean that I don't prepare for tomorrow. I do. But, I simply don't plan too far ahead. For instance, I could be going crazy right now about where we will live and how much to pack for storage, etc. I've decided to postpone that worry until I know more.

Anyhow, Brenda, you are da woman! I'm so sorry that you aren't sleeping. It's been a long time since I have had that problem. Oh, sometimes I can't GET to sleep, but I take Tylenol PM sometimes for that. I also take several other chemicals for my FM that are supposed to put me to sleep. For the most part, they do. Sometimes later than sooner.

Judy: Honey, you have a long way to go to earn that Slug title. You are going to have to wiggle yourself into line. And, girl, I am fierce about keeping the title. Yesterday my wonderful dh washed every one of our 15 million (well, it seems like a lot) windows! Ya know what I did? I spent my day at this computer. Just like I do every other day. I couldn't tell you what I DID at the computer, except to write to you guys and answer some emails. Oh, I am filing all my software in a big three ring binder with pages for discs. I'm peeling off serial numbers and keeping them too. Feeling so self righteous for doing this! But, I've GOT to get to that danged bathroom. Talk about goals, huh? Maybe today I'll sneak up on it and it will get done without me planning it?:silly:

Barb: I had a very different take on Al Gore's movie. In the face of the denial about global warming that we continue to hear from our Country's leaders, I was glad to get some hard science about it. Yaknow, I believe that Jesus' message was a political one. He both pointed out the difficulties with how people were living and treating others, and pointed out the answers to change it. They killed him. I try (as do most Ministers) to bear witness to that way of bringing Truth to a congregation that is often in denial about the realities of our consumptive lifestyles. Unfortunately, our entire cultural system in this time does not lend itself to the kind of answers that Jesus posited. When I preach against the denial system that we have in place, it sounds as though I am "preaching politics." In fact, I've had more than one parishioner walk out during the sermon when I do that. I had one guy get up in my face with a red face and cords sticking ou in his neck and accuse me of "preaching Kerry's platform" and "mixing church and state" during the last election. Well, IMHO, Jesus messsage has profound political implications for the United States (and the World, actually, but that's another sermon ). And, this is my point, (FINALLY, PEGGY!) after that long sermon, I don't feel obligated to give the political and sociological and psychological answers to my cry for justice. But, I do feel a moral obligation to continue pointing out to the people in the pews how "off the mark" (the definition of sin) we are. Sermon over, phew. (Forgive me, please, gals, if I have offended you!)

Terry: Every day when I sit down at this computer, I swear that I am going to download that softwear that Judy told us about and try it out on my pics. You truly do have a "photographers eye."

How is your weather this Summer. I thing that you have told us that, but CRS!

You know, you guys, I am feeling a little guilty that this post is so long. I am going to "submit" it and come back to address the rest of you later. I'm also feeling guilty generally.....because I can't seem to get anything done. Queen of the Slugs!!

Peace, Peg

AS IF you actually COULD separate church and state, or any compartment of life from any other compartment. It doesn't work that way, does it, Peg? I think I see your point about not having to provide all the answers when identifying the problems. And people do get mad when it's their ox being Gored--so to speak.

The movie has nothing to do with my decision (this morning) to sell my Mazda 6 sedan. Owning three cars was a kind of fluke to begin with--and a pain in the butt just about daily--so I've finally seen the light. I'll try to get this done with a minimum of hassle and a maximum of return on investment. But I'm inclined to go with the less hassle part mostly.

Sorry about the shorts, Peg. Polka dots now, eh?

Brenda, thank you for wise thoughts, too. I'll just coast for a while!:great:

Hi Gang!

Back again, and this time with a CLEAN, SPARKLING bathroom! I was right! I had to sneak up on it! I also had to use bleach, 409, and a grout brush! Ohmigawd, my hands and back are so sore. The floor in the bathroom is white tile with white grout. Well, I hesitate to mention this, but talk about slugs, I don't remember the last time I bleached it. But, it is done, clean towels and clean rugs back in. Yay! Floor absolutely blinding it is so white. he he I also cleaned the kitchen floor since I had a wet mop. I am so ashamed to say that I didn't know how dirty it was. We go along and sweep it pretty often, but it's been a long time since it was mopped. Sheesh. I have to go over it again before Wednesday. I also have to repeat my grout brush performance on the master bedroom bathroom when the handyman finishes up on Wednesday. I decided not to do too much on it before that.

So, Shelley: What're ya doin' today?

Donna: What're ya doin' today? Yanno I need to get up to your neck of the woods. I don't understand your weather. Are you directly North of Victoria? Where in relationship to that City are you? You must be far away from the Coast with those temps. Just can't picture it. (Remember that my knowledge of geography is limited to up and down and right and left)

Alida: I hope that you are getting some rest today. Though I do know that for working girls, Saturday is an errand day.

So, I'm taking my blue and white polka dot pants and going downstairs to watch TV and drink wine and wait for supper. It's DH's week. Yay!!!!

Peace, Peg

Peg, I have white tile with white grout, too. And, yeah, my favorite black teeshirt has a "rusty" horizontal strip just above where the countertop hits my waist from when I was using a spray bottle of Lysol w/bleach to clean the grout. I'm thinkin' we just shouldn't wear any clothes when cleaning with bleach!

Hi everyone!
Just a quick little stop from me this evening. Not much going on here in the heartland except this miserable heat...ugh!

I cleaned all the bathrooms today also! I didn't *scrub* any grout, just the weekly comet of the sinks and tubs, and the lysol bowl cleaning...eewww! It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it...yeah...well...

I bumped up my walk this morning to 4 miles...also did some jogging sprints. Unfortunately, my little splurge on our dinner date last night(8 stinkin' chips with some fresh salsa) had me up a pound this morning I drank an extra bottle of water today, so hope that helps.

Hope everyone is having a super weekend and doing what makes your little heart sing

Well, DH is out of the shower and ready to sit down with me and discuss some vacation plans! I could go in about 3 different directions! Oh I wish we had more time off! I think I've got a case of *wanna go*...LOL

maybe back later,
(((chickadee hugs)))

Ok, I wasn't a total slug today........... I went shopping. Scored a nice pair of pants at TJ Maxx for $8.00. DH was far from a slug. He built Lexie a "window" in the fence. Tomorrow he'll finish the other side and put some wire in. He thinks if she has something to look at she might quit digging. Boy, is she ever good at digging!

Awww Peg, Bleach......... such a good thing that does so many bad things. Yes, I too have ruined some things.

Teel, you may have the right wardrobe idea for cleaning with bleach.

Rachel, good to see you back again

Brenda, sleep tight tonight!!

Shelley, Happy planning! You can't beat the mountains......... whereever they are.

Barb, Deep thoughts on Al Gore this morning. I think I better stay out of a political discussion.

Alida, We missed you today. I hope you were out doing something wonderful.

Donna, you too. I hope you found some good bargains on your shopping trip.

Aw Judy, how cute it that? And "how much is that doooooggy in the win-dow ARF! ARF! Ya know, most diggity dogs are bored as DH surmises, some like the coolness, some like the smells in the earth. I've seen quite a few dogs respond well to having their own "sandboxes" where they are permitted and encouraged to dig by "finding" toys and bones there. Perhaps another fun project for DH--yeah, just what he needs, right?

$8 Pants for Judy, $8 top for Barb. I'd better go shopping, too. I just ordered capri's from LLBean, and they were NOT $8, but will fit my weird lower half. I have to pay a little more for that.

Peg, you've made me both blush and smile today. For the life of me, I'm having a hard time envisioning my Peg down on her knees with bleach and brush.....you are a cat, m'dear. You are supposed to have "staff." Peg, I enjoyed the sermon and appreciate your point of view. Don't apologize. Until a problem is recognized and acknowledged, there is no possibility of a solution, anyway.

Shell, what was it with bathrooms today? I got the rest of the top vinyl layer of wallpaper off the tub/toilet area. It is SUCH a tiny closet of a room--not any way to make it look like the ballroom baths of today's homes.
Four miles??? WOOHOO. And hey, that gain is just the salt on those chips. You'll sweat it off in two days max, I bet.

TB, white grout and white tile, you and Peg both? Honestly, I'd make everyone go to the outhouse.

Barb, nothing wrong with coasting. It's much harder to enjoy the scenery of life when you are accelerating or braking.

Rachel, so good to hear from you on these pages. I know that overall you and DH love what you do, but I keep thinking after this experience, "oh I wish they could find something wonderful in the US for a while!" I too have been wondering where you will find yourselves when you're back in the US.

Born in a thunderstorm? I good omen for you, I think, but obviously not a pleasant time for your Mother. However, I like the idea that you "came into the world with a BANG!"

Donna and Alida, did you have good Saturdays?

Oh, did take Khaki to her chiro, plus a run to Sam's Club for the gigundo packages of paper towels and toilet paper. So big that the only place I can house them is in the tub of the guest bathroom But boy, I do so hate to run out of either.....

Tomorrow we may have thunderstorms. Neato.

Sunday morning. Another nice day. I might drive out to Powell Gardens this afternoon, a local botanical park, with a stop by my dad's on the way. The daylilies are blooming gorgeously now, and they have hundreds of varieties out there.

We saw "the kids" yesterday, and they are so very happy in their new home. Stepson has finally found a rewarding job situation, and just bought his dream vehicle--a spiffy red Ford Ranger truck for a great price--so he's in heaven. In addition, their aimless older son has now enrolled at DeVry, like his brother, and may be on his way to an actual career. He's a classic case--only interrupting his video-gaming long enough to show up for his shifts at Burger King. Now...perhaps he'll rollover that video passion into a job in game design. But probably 80% (I have no idea) of boys of his generation have the same idea, so I hope he's got the commitment. I think it's a bit like aiming to be a Rock Star when you grow up. But you never know. He may have the mojo.

Bless all you "cleaning ladies." I hope you get mucho appreciation from the people who live in your sparkling houses. Better yet, Peg, hope it puts a sparkle in the eye of prospective buyers.

Alida, hope you're relaxing or playing.

Judy, what's on your list of fun this week? Lexie looks like a happy dog. Probably too smart for her own good.

Rachel, hope you're settling in.

Good vibes everybody.

Good morning!

On Saturday, I was up at 2:30 am! I could not go back to sleep, so I said the hell with it, got up, made my coffee and headed for the computer. One thing led to another and I never posted. I finally got my butt in gear and did a little shopping around noon. I thought I would crash in the afternoon, but made it all the way through to 10 pm. We watched "Firewall," and the movie kept me interested enough to stay awake.

Peg, oh, been there with the bleached clothes! As a matter of fact, I keep a spotted t-shirt and shorts in my closet just for this chore.

Your "sermons" never offend. I read them with interest, although I will admit sometimes I do not fully grasp the meaning. Hey! It's usually real early when I read this stuff!

Judy, what a precious picture of Lexie! I do hope the doggy window will help the digging. Whoever mentioned a doggy sandbox -- excellent idea! My dog used to bury his rawhide bones, but that was the extent of his digging. So cute! He would go into the yard with the bone in his mouth and look around for a good spot. I mean, a lot of thinking went in to this matter! I would watch him and could see his mind working.

Brenda, congrats on getting the wallpaper off. That's such a messy job. I find the hardest part is getting all the paste off. It seems no matter how much you wipe with "paste remover," the wall still feels sticky.

I got that Benjamin Moore CD yesterday. I am looking forward to playing with it today. I also bought a sample of my color for the main rooms/hallway. I wanted to go to the store that had that British paint at $60/gallon, but it was a little out of the way. Plus, that area is under heavy construction. Another time, if ever.

We get those BIG packages of TP and paper towels, too. Life would STOP if we ran out of either ....

Switch carpets? That sounds like an idea I would have at night, too. I just revisited your pictures ... looks like the DR rug is darker than the LR rug, right? Are they the same size?

Shelley, I agree. That's just a little salt weight. With your walking, it will be gone in a day or two! Those chips are so hard to resist, aren't they?

So, did you discuss your vacation plans? Did you come up with something different?

Barb, selling the Miata! That's the cute red convertible, right? I know you have the Jag ... but what's the third car?

I have to agree with you about so many politicians (and I guess Gore could still be considered one) talking about problems but not offering solutions. Even if it's a bad solution, the idea would be a starting point. Politics has turned so nasty. 'Nuf said.

You mentioned your sister is seeing some old friends from high school ... in Madrid. Are these fellow Army "brats?"

Terry, OK, now you've done it. I have a mental picture of you and Peg cleaning the bathrooms naked!

Having a good weekend?

Donna, so those Blueberry muffins were a mix, huh? Are they any good? It's been a while since I have done any LC baking. I am trying to avoid that stuff. To no avail, obviously, but hope lingers.

And last on my list, but certainly not least is Rachel! How wonderful to get a post from you! I just cannot wrap my mind around what it must be like to pack everything and not see it for three months! I mean, you even packed your CAR. So, do you rent a car to take you to Armenia? Fly? Hitch? Borrow?

Where is Roger staying while you are in Armenia? With friends?

I am so not good at expressing myself, but I'll give it a go. You and Roger both amaze me. Your lifestyle is such an adventure. I know I could not do it. I am too much of a nester. But I am in awe of your good nature, your spirit and your ability to live life to the fullest. I am honored to know you!

Off to water some plants. We may get rain today or tomorrow, but I can't count on that!

Have a wonderful Sunday. XXOO

Hi Gang!

I'm being a church slug this morning and didn't go to church. I'm still on vacation for another week. I didn't even WAKE UP until 9:15 this morning! DH was already gone to his church. Now it's an hour later and I'm still in jammies.

Judy: That window for Lexie is just precious! And the picture is too, thank you! I agree with Brenda and the sandbox idea. What a GOOD idea, Brenda. You are a wonder with your "dog" knowledge. And, $8.00 pants, huh? Maybe I should go shopping too. I know everything is on sale. I breezed through Macy's the other day. Nothing interesting caught my eye; at least nothing that I wanted to pay for. But, there is a Target there. Think I'll take a little shopping expedition....

Alida: Thanks for posting this morning. I can harken back to the days when it was Judy and I posting on this thread. Sometimes I was the only one posting on Sunday....it was lonely. (I'm sure that Judy would say the same thing)

I don't think that Barb is selling her Miata! She is selling another vehicle that they have. No, I think that Barb is going to be buried in that Miata! Right, Barb?

Barb: Your trip today sounds like fun. I do so admire you for getting out to see the flowers. Our daylilies are just now coming into bloom. And, the impatiens.......oh my gosh! They are just beautiful. They did spread out, just as I wanted, and they cover the whole bed. The Alyssum didn't do as well as I had hoped, but I am comtinuing to pull for them. DH and I (yes, me) took a walk last night. It looks just spectacular around the complex. Some of our neighbors have taken on the task of planting and watering in the common areas, and I am just thrilled at how well they look. Our landscaping crew are those that come in like locusts and spend about two hours cutting the grass in the whole complex and then are gone before you know it. Meanwhile, the bushes and trees grow to mammoth proportions. Dang it.

Shelley: FOUR miles? What do you THINK about during your walk. I can barely get a mile in before I get supremely bored. I can't do ANY jogging or my knees would give out. However, this lingering pain in my left hamstring (where I had a SEVERE charlyhorse last week) continues to remind me that I need to stretch even if I don't do any more exercise. I used to have really good hamstrings. Being a couch potato does have it's drawbacks :eyes:

Yesterday seemed to be bathroom cleaning day, huh? I just love walking into mine now. I only have two more to tackle and then I can relax about the bathrooms. I staged my closet yesterday too. I moved about 20 million pairs of shoes to a box (and gave a bunch away). I had it in the bedroom when we went to bed, and DH said, "Where are going to put those?" I said, "I don't know, but I'm going to hide them somewhere." He said, "Why don't you put them in the car?" Um hmmmm. I suspect that my car is going to be a repository for a lot of stuff while we are showing the house.

Brenda: Now, listen.....this advice is from an OLD insomniac (me). 11:30 is when you are supposed to be relaxing your mind and your body to prepare for blissful sleep. :silly: Moving rugs is not an option at that time of night. I think that you need my Doctor. She gives BIG drugs. (I know that you wouldn't take them anyway ) I've also found that in the light of day, my 11:30 decisions don't have as much appeal.

Donna: What are you doing this weekend? Are you still suffering from the heat?

Terry: You have polka dotted clothes, too, huh? I really knew better, but I was being so careful, I thought. I suspect that you know what I mean about a landscaping crew, don't you? How is the one in your complex? I wouldn't care so much, but we are preparing to show the house this week and I want everything to look perfect. What? You say perfect is too much to ask for? Oh dang.

Well, interestingly, one of our young couple neighbors were walking back from their boat last night and yelled up to DH on the balcony that they heard we were selling. One thing led to another and we ended up showing it to them. They didn't blink an eye when we told them the price, and were discussing where to put their furniture. It seemed as though they were really interested. They have been waiting for a unit on the water to go up for sale. I wish we had known that before we signed a contract with a realtor! It won't cost them anymore, but it will cost us 5% of our profit. C'est la vie!

Well, I'll probably be back. Oh, I won an IPod with a video on Ebay last night for about $200. less than they sell for. Woohoo. Interesting to stay online for the bidding in the last few minutes. Someone else was bidding with me, and it was fascinating to see the bid go up.

Peace, Peg

Well... rats! RATS!! RATS.RATS.RATS!!!

I took a series of really fun pictures this morning of that huge fledge being fed by it's tiny junco "parent"! I was so pleased to capture that; although the lighting wasn't ideal. So I fiddled with the camera settings, hoping to find a mode that would adjust for the brilliant morning glare a little better. I'm still getting to know the menus... took a few more pics around the yard trying out macro mode vs infinity mode, etc.

When I went in later to copy the pictures to the computer ALL the fledgling pictures were GONE! GONE GONE GONE!!! <insert multiple really vulgar swear words here>

Do not know what I did wrong. There is an Erase All command in one of the menus, but I surely do not remember using it!

Judy, I think Lexie will love here window. What a clever idea! And the picture of her through it is so cute - with her pink tongue happily dangling through the window. Such a nice puppy.

Brenda, I swear you are a dog psychic... or at least, that you could pose as one. You understand them so well - what motivates them and how they react to the world. I don't doubt that you could make money giving readings at dog shows!

Peg, have you taken pictures of your complex gardens? I think you will enjoy looking back at them after you've moved.

Ooo... quickie post... it sounds like my laptop is going to shut itself down. I'll post now for safety and edit it after.

Hmm... maybe that was a false alarm. Okay, what was I saying? Ah, Peg...

... and, anyway, some of us here might like to see those pretty plantings you and your neighbors have done this year!

You asked about our landscapers... they seem to be full-time or nearly so. There's ~huge~ swaths of common areas and stuff grows year round in this climate. When the complex was built, multiple family housing was not well accepted in this area. In order go get permists, the developer had to provide deep set-backs and leave lots and lots of open space around the buildings. That was a big draw for DH and I to buy here, although it means our HOA dues are higher than average.

The slacks I ordered from the outlet Soft Solutions came yesterday, but I'll have to return them... they are a bit tight, too long, and the fabric is too thin for my build. Ah well...

So much for my plans for the day! "A chance of a morning thundershower" has turned into a nice, steady downpour. Oh well. We need the rain desperately. I'll go out to see my dad, and go shopping instead. They've got deals on luggage here and there, and DH needs a rollie for our trip. If I happen by the shoes or the cute tops along the way...well,.....

Alida, Oh NO!! NOT selling the Miata. I've got a 2003 Mazda 6 sports sedan. Very nice car, but superfluous at this point. You're right, Peg. If the Miata holds out, I WILL be buried in it. And it's actually purple (Merlot) not red. It's the 1995 M Edition.

Peg, I find walking and running very entertaining. I run various routes around the neighborhood, and it's like sightseeing. I think about a ton of things--or nothing at all--and find it relaxing, not boring. A lot of people plug in music, but that's a safety hazard for me, so I just listen to the birdies and the lawnmowers. Sure hope the sale goes through on the condo, even if you have to swallow the irony of paying someone else to sell it for you.

Well, off for a drippy ride to Lee's Summit. Later, Babes.
