Surprise! Yup, it's me on a Sunday. Dh has gone up to work for a few hours so I decided to scan a few pictures that I got developed yesterday. Hope I don't blow up this place when I post them for you. lol

Brenda: I copied your idea (hope you don't mind) and just took pictures of some of my lilies up close. Wow! I'm really impressed with how they turned out. If I blow some of them up, I can put them on the wall in the living room.

Peg: Hmmm, how can I describe where I live. First of all Victoria is on the Island, and I don't live there. Have you been to Vancouver? I'm 232 miles due north of Vancouver. If you came up the Fraser Canyon (which has the most gorgeous scenery you will ever see), you would run right into the town where we have our store. That's called Cache Creek. I actually live in Ashcroft which is 6 miles from Cache Creek. Our area looks so much like Nevada....sagebrush, sand, dry, rattlesnakes...well, I bet you get the idea. I'm going to try and take some pictures of the area so you can get an idea.

Spotted bleach clothes...hey, you guys could make tie dyed clothes. Well, maybe not but it was an idea.

Judy: Lexie is so gorgeous. I just wanted to reach out and pat her. We have a fellow in town who has a Bassett Hound that has a kennel in the back of the truck. He cut big round cutouts in the front of it so the dog can stick it's head out. It's hilarious to see the truck coming down the road with this dog's head stuck out and him baying for all he's worth.

Shelley: Vacation plans? Well...did you decide? My dh is still whining that his parents aren't coming with us this year. (I'm still praying they won't. Not nice, but I hate sleeping up in the bunk), Anyway, looks like we are going to JackPot Nevada and then heading to Wendover. Never been there before.

Rachel: So, so good to hear from you. I agree with everyone else. I couldn't stand to pack away all my bits and pieces of my life and not see them again for months.

Alida: The blueberry muffins are extremely dry. Maybe cause they are old? Oh well, they are okay when I'm too lazy to get a proper breakfast ready.

Barb: I always wanted a convertible. Even when I was a kid I wanted one, but then my dad talked me out of it. We lived in Vancouver at the time, and it was common practise for kids to go around and slash the roofs on them. So, it wasn't practical, but maybe someday. Enjoy yours!

It must be the time for sales, even up here. I know that dh hates it when I want to go in Michael's so I warned him ahead of time that I was going there. He doesn't complain about me spending money...it's just that I have so much scrapbooking stuff now, and he's right. But, this time,he was really good about it. They had a huge sale on. I got all kinds of gorgeous ribbons, and stamping stuff and all kinds of other goodies and they were only $1.50 each!! I spent just over $100 and that included a whole bunch of stuff that I am going to put in a box for a friend for her birthday next week. Now, I just have to find the time to use this stuff.

Well girls, I am going to go and try to post a couple of these pictures. If the place blows up....don't blame me.

Donna, how about uploading your photos to one of the online photo services places and then linking to your pics from there? I haven't done it in a while, but these places usually provide lots of free image hosting and very easy upload processes. They make their money if your order prints from them, and often that's an economical way to get prints, too. They also encourage you to send links to your "gallery" to you friends and family who might also want to order prints.
There are tons of places online, but these are the two I know about. I used Shutterfly some years ago and the service was great at that time. I would suspect Koday is just as good.

Hi guys!
Just a little fly by again tonight; sorry about that. DH was home today and we did lots of running once we got all our *housey* stuff done.
We spent nearly 2 hours watering the front and back lawn.

Alida...you'll sympathize with me on moving those darn sprinklers, right? LOL.
DH and I are about to have another look-see session with the atlas tonight.
If this heat keeps up though, I can tell you we ARE going north and perhaps into Canada!

Bren...hope you got yourself a nice little nap today. I really hate it when the nasty ole insomnia bug hits! Did you say previously you couldn't do the Melatonin/valerian root combo? It works pretty good for me.

Barb...Good luck on selling your car. I bet you will sell it in no time, though. I'm sure it gets good mpg and that's what a lot of folks are looking for these days.

Peg...I do some of my best thinking when I am walking by myself...LOL...why, I can solve the world's problems...hehe! I also crank up the tunes on my radio headphones...Deep Purple, CCR, Santana, Dr Hook, the Stones...the good old *hard rock*. (yes, sadly I do have some hearing loss due to my teen years of playing/listening to LOUD music...sigh.) Oh well...I'll forever be an *old rock-n-roller*

Judy...that pic of Lexie is adorable. We have several folks in our neighborhood who have installed doggie *lookouts* in their gates and fences. I think it makes the dogs happier...of course they still bark at me when I'm on my walk...LOL.
By the way, when will your school start again? I believe our schools will start back Aug 17th (I think)....ugh...it will be soooooo hot!

Donna...I meant to ask you if that pic of your cat was a photo you had scanned from a print. I figured it was. I learned the hard way when I used to post scanned photos about re-sizing them.
I'll PM you with some ideas about trying to post your pics.

Teel...RATS for sure! I'm sorry you lost those bird pics....DRATS!!! We would love to see them for sure. Maybe you'll get another photo op at *feeding time* again? I know you'll be watching and waiting! Good luck!

Rach...hi to you! Are you in Armenia yet? Hope everything is going smoothly for you

Well, my big news for the day...I got new shoes; a pic of them is here
This is my second pair of 1122's. If any of you have foot problems, this is absolutely the best shoe I've ever found. It keeps me in motion for sure!

Also I scored a new pedometer...this one the hj105. I had picked up the newest copy of Prevention this morning at the grocery, and they have several good articles on weight loss, but they had a guide to pedometers in this month's copy as well. I did a little reading and ta-da...I'm now a very happy camper...well, walker! LOL!

OK...DH is once again ready to talk vacation talk, so I need to plea my case for high elevations...well, higher than the Smokey Mountains any way.

later, chickadees!

Donna, the upload will take forever if the pictures are still too large, too. Bless your heart, we've got to get you fixed up--I want to see those lilies! And I know you really love your in-laws, but I do think you deserve a vacation of your own. Hope it works out for you.

Barb, lovely day for a visit to a botanical garden, however, I'll bet you need the rain, and shopping is a good diversion, anyway. How's your DDad today? Oh, wanted to mention I enjoyed the Hallmark movie last night--Wild Hearts, was it? Anyway, sweet movie--and I've always had a crush on John Boy, anyway

Alida, ok I need to clarify--I have the first layer of the wallpaper off, the vinyl layer--it strips off easily, like peeling a sunburn Now I have the paper backing and glue.

Let's see, the DR carpet in the pictures you have--that's actually 2 cheaper 6x9s which came from other places and will probably be "retired" if I redecorate. They do make the DR look too dark. The one in the LR is a good one, but really too small IMO for that room. The color doesn't flow well with the landing carpet, anyway.

TB, darn, I wonder what happened with your camera! Oh, I hate missing really good shots like that. Phooey! With your lovely garden and pond, though, I hope you'll get many more opportunities for a great shot.

Shell, no vacation destination yet, eh? Bet it'll be mountains Somewhere. Hey, great walking goodies you got today!!! I like New Balance, too, and they make one of the only sneakers DH has found that don't aggravate his Morton's neuroma.

Actually I can take both melatonin and valerian, and have been doing so (along with benedryl). Sometimes it helps me go to sleep, but I'll wake up in an hour or so and that's it until 4 or 5. Sometimes it only makes me dopey but not enough to sleep. Sheesh.

Quote:
I've also found that in the light of day, my 11:30 decisions don't have as much appeal.
ROFL....yup, there's that, Peg

Hey, sounds like you're off to a great start on the condo selling front. Exciting to have a potential buyer in your pocket, and one who knows what they are looking for. Gotta tell you I thought of you as I was in line at the hardware store yesterday. On a peg right at the register was the "Official St. Joseph House Selling Kit." St. Joe in shrink wrap, complete with prayer and money back guarantee. For $5.95, can't beat that for a commission

Judy, what's up today?

And Rach, as always, hugs coming your way.

I worked about three hours on the shed today--about all I could do in the heat. I've got the doors and trim done, which are the most time consuming and tedious. The siding will take some time, but I can do that with a roller. Must say I'm rather pleased with myself!! I thought perhaps DH would be inspired by my efforts to work on one or the other of the projects on his honey do list, but evidently NOT! And now, for some quality slugdom for the rest of the evening......

Thanks Shelley. I came back in tonight and they were gone from the attachment file. Does anyone know how to delete some of the stuff we've already sent? It was my own fault for hitting "close window" instead of "download". Anyway, let's try this again.

They came out a little small, but you get the picture. lol When downsizing a picture, what is the size I should try for?

Alida: The first picture is my black lily that you asked about.

Donna, The pic of Lexie is 640 X 480 pixels. That's about the max. size for posting without messing up things. Keep trying.......... you are getting there, and we are enjoying the look at your garden. (*Note, when you scan the pictures, be sure to cut out the extra white space around the edges. Scans are often a PIA. Mine always turn out too big or too little.)

Have any of you read Dean Koontz's novel, Velocity? I have just spent most of the day finishing it. There's places in the thing that will scare the beejeebers out of you. I woke up one night last week and had left a light on in the computer room............ totally freaked me out. Read the book and you will understand why.

Now that the story has ended and all is well, I'm off to bed.

Monday morning. More rain overnight, and I don't mind if it keeps going.

Donna, your flower pictures DO look like paintings you could hang on the wall. Lovely. I got out the Atlas this morning, and looked you up on the map. It actually has Ashcroft on it--right there near Cache Creek. I must say it looked like a remote and mysterious place. But then, the movie people know exactly where it is--a "body double" for the Wild West.

Teel, when I'm feeling ambitious, I'm definitely going to try one of those online photo services. There's got to be an "easy" way to get photos posted. Thanks for the links.

So, Shelley...where ya goin' on vacation? Ashcroft would be interesting, but you can't get there from here!

Peg, I once bought one of those St. Joseph kits for a friend--a Presbyterian friend yet. Eventually it worked. I don't think you're going to need it.
(For the uninitiated, St. Joseph is the patron of selling houses, among other things. Superstition--or faith--has it that you bury him upside down facing a certain way in your garden, and he'll bring you a buyer.)

I got new shoes yesterday, too. A pair of Avia cross-trainers, which I'll use for indoor workouts. The old sneaks get demoted to knockaround shoe status. The best shopping prize was a Samsonite rollie suitcase 60% off at Kohl's, with a rollie backpack thrown in for free. That takes care of DH's packing requirements for the trip--for less than 100 bucks. (Oh, and I did get a frilly top, too.)

Just because my almost-new size 8 denims were feeling loose-ish, I tried on some stretch 6s. Couldn't zip them comfortably, but was astounded I could actually pull them up. Me? Dreaming of a 6?? In spite of the no weight loss thing, I think the cycling is actually having a slimming effect. How could it not? Those jeans were Levis. Lee jeans have the cuts that work for me, so next time I get in the mood, I'll see about downsizing. Not long ago, I recycled (to the charity bin) my 12s and 14s...and maybe a 16 or 18. I've kept them around for my ups and downs--but never again, says I. Sizing is weird though. Only the fit really counts.

Everybody should be back in the office today after the holiday week. All grumpy probably. Thankfully, it's no salt mine.

Have a great week everybody--especially Rachel, out of the maelstrom now, we hope.

Good morning!

For some reason I feel sluggish this morning. Maybe that's because I was a complete slug yesterday.

I have been thinking about how I feel lately. And I am wondering if the effects of the radiation are still hanging on. I just don't feel as good as I did prior to the CK treatments. I don't seem to have any energy. Hmm. I have a few of those steroid pills left .... then again, maybe it's just life in general.

It's 6:07 and I know I will not have time to reply to you all. But I'll give it a go:

Peg, how great you may have a local buyer! At least for them, they know what the area is like and how the association and property is run. That's half the battle! As for the realtor fee, at least they will do all the paperwork and all you have to do is sign. I would hate to have to do all that legal paperwork myself and find out I forgot to mail something-or-other to someone-or-other.

LOL -- putting your shoes in the car! But yanno, I'll bet that car can hold lots of stuff!

Judy, I used to read Koontz years ago. Some books were better than others. But I'll give Velocity a go ....

Brenda, I couldn't tell from your pics that the DR had two rugs. and I agree that the LR rug is too small for the space.

Sounds like that d*mn shed is just about done. Hooray! As for the wallpaper ... been there. Fun ahead with removing the "base."

Shelley, even if you haven't decided where to go yet, it's fun just looking at all the options. At least you have it narrowed down to MOUNTAINS.

I like the New Balance shoes, too. They used to make an all white model that looked a little sleeker. I loved those shoes! When I tried to replace them, all the store had were ones with a lot of jazz on them. I prefer an all white shoe. I usually end up with Keds. Not the best for my feet, especially with standing a lot. But I add some inserts which help.

With your new pedometer, now you can report the actual mileage! I wonder if you will find you walk more miles than you thought, or less.

Barb, whew, not selling the Miata! The M's confused me. Miata and Mazda.

Wasn't the rain wonderful yesterday? Just what we needed!

We need new luggage, too. Not that we are planning to GO anywhere, but our luggage is so old ... and without wheels. Got to have wheels! That's a good price for a Samsonite.

I find Lee jeans fit well, too. They seem to be cut more generously in the hip area! Congrats on finally seeing some results from all the cycling! "jeans getting loose" has to be music to your ears!

Terry, NUTS! on losing those pictures. I would have been swearing a blue streak, too. Maybe today you will have another shot at it?

Donna, oh my! Posting on a Sunday! So that iswhat the black lily looks like! Dark purple with tinges of black. Beautiful! The pictures were a little small. Judy posted her usual pixel size. Do you have a clue about that? Pixels are the measurements used on the web. For instance, the window I am typing in right now is about 540 pixels wide. The window with our posted messages is about 750 pixels wide. (I have a handy pixel ruler I downloaded from the internet). So Judy's recommendation of a picture about 640 pixels wide is good. But the Kb requirements are for a "square pixel" (length x width), so if your picture is really tall, it may have to be narrower than 640. Clear as mud?

Good going on the scrap booking materials!

Rachel, thinking of you and hoping you can post from Armenia once you get settled in!

Got to run. Yikes. It's Monday. Love to all.

Donna,
If you can, make your width about 500 pixels and the length will automatically fill in.
Also, just my personal experience, I find it easier to just attach the pics instead of using the photo linking. But whatever works, yanno?
I'm sure you know, but I'll go through the process to attach a pic here in the thread:
click on manage attachments
click browse
find the photo you want in your computer files
click on that photo
click open
then click on upload
THEN close window
then click on submit
easy-peasy!

The pics are great. And when you attach multiples like you did, you only get the link to open the pics. So, by Jove...I think you've got it! (said in my best British actor voice)...LOL!

Off to walk then have a yummy clear liquid breakfast....YUM-O!....NOT!

Back later for more chatter!

(((hugs)))

Alida, it's highly possible you're experiencing some residual reaction from the treatments. However, I'm feeling sluggish--physically and mentally--for no reason other than summer doldrums.

I'm wearing the frilly top I bought, and realizing it looks like lingerie. Too late. Guess I'll spend the whole day looking like I forgot to change out of my nightie--or the top half at least.:o

Hi Gang!

Shortie stop by for me. I joined Brenda in the insomnia last night and didn't get to bed to sleep until after 3:00 a.m. I'm okay this morning, but don't hold a lot of hope for the afternoon!

Donna: The pics are great. I join you in not knowing how to do this. Every time I do what Shelley suggested, I get a message that says the photo is to big. I gave up.

Barb: I LOVE frilly tops that look like lingerie. They are very IN, right now. I bet you look absolutely smashing!

Alida: Good to see you this morning. I'm feeling sluggish too. I think it's "in the air." Speaking of air, we are supposed to have thunderstorms every day this week! But, that's okay with me. I'm on vacation and I've been "eating" up the books I bought last week.

Judy: I had nightmares about Velocity! Wow! It scared the bejebers out of me. But I do like Koontz's' writing. I just have to remember to read them in the day time. By the way, I talked to my 6-yo dgd yesterday about her Halloween costume. She said: "Nana, I want something that no one else has." "I want a full skirt with diamonds all over it, and a blue sash, and pink flowers on the top, ummmmmm." That's when I said to her that she would pretty much have to go with the fabric that I have. "Well, that's okay," she said. "I just want a dress that when I walk into school, all the first graders will say, "Faith, where did you get that dress?" "I've never seen anything so beautiful." "I want a dress that no one has ever seen." Isn't that cute? This is also the dgd who said that you would be fine as a woman as long as you had jewelry! She is a darling looking girl with blonde curls. But, she is also a tomboy. She will fight and wrestle with her brother until you want to put them both in cages! When I'm with her, people stop me on the street to tell me how pretty she is. It's definitely not good for her ego! She has two sibs who are needful of attention too! Oh, I could go on, but won't.

Back later,
Peace, Peg

Morning gang, delightful to see you all this am.

Peg, I slept a bit better than normal last night, but here is is only 9:30 and I'm already crashing a little. Or maybe it's those summer doldrums Barb mentioned.

Alida, you've been through so much the past few months, including the radiation, company sale, new job, health concerns for both you and DH, and even those doldrums. Whew. Less than perky and energetic would be understandable, although I know you don't enjoy feeling less than yourself. Maybe some more research on radiation effects, or a call to your DR's office?

Judy
, Peg, Velocity? OK, haven't read that one. I like Koontz most of the time. One Door Away From Heaven has to be one of my favorite novels.

Shell, ugh on the liquid diet, but it's for a good cause. Tomorrow for your procedure, did you say?

Barb, I'll bet the top is cute and very stylish. Hey, congrats on the lean jeans A grand feeling.
