Hi guys!
Quickie fly by for me this evening. I am on call for tomorrow and Friday; hope I get to stay home, I've got tons of stuff that need my attention...ack!

Judy...so sorry for your DDad. Dog-gone-it...just when you thought things might level out for him. (((hugs)))

Peg...aaaccckkk on the thought of moving twice! Hope you find just what you're(and Bob) are looking for when you go out on the 20th.

Barb...getting close to your *mountain time* isn't it? I'll be jealous for sure. My heart is truly in the Rocky Mountains. I can hardly wait for our vacation...sigh.
Have fun and think of us waiting here with our mouths watering over all that delicious BBQ you'll be getting...LOL!

Alida....Yay!!! I'm so glad someone got pictures for you! Even though it will be a PITA for you to actually get them, huh? And what's with Ashley wanting you to install the software and work at the office??? Hummmm...sure sounds like you could get waaaaay more done at your own computer than the one with the crappy monitor....(IMO)

Bren...hey girl. Hope you are humming right along with all your re-decorating projects. Sounds like you are really making headway That's pretty impressive, m'dear! You go girlfriend!!!

Rach, Donna, Teel, Kim...

Goodnews: My eyeglasses finally came in...woohoo! They adjusted the bifocal spot as well, so I think they are MUCH better! Good deal!!!

Badnews: My temporary crown (that I got last week on the tooth with the rootcanal) came off today while I was eating lunch at work!!! AACCKK!!!! So....I also made a trip to the dentist's office in addition to picking up my eyeglasses.
Boy....IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!!!!!

We are so dry andHOT here, we are again having wildfires pop up all over the place. We are under a burn ban, and watering restrictions. I'm pretty sure our lawn is on it's way *out*. We did water our trees very well yesterday morning before they re-instated the watering ban, so who knows when we will get to water again, providing mother nature doesn't give us some relief.

Also of BIG news here in Sooner Nation, is, the starting QB for the Sooners was kicked off the team today by the head coach for taking $$$ for work not done. sigh. Why do star atheletes think they can get away with such stuff? AARRGGHH. This kid had already had a little run in for a DUI and was suspended once, now he goes and does a bone-headed thing like this. His career as a QB is definitely over here in Oklahoma, I think. And the kid had talent...that's what's sad. I'm thinking we may be in for some tuff times here in Sooner Nation for the 2006 season...LOL!

Alrighty....so much for my quickie fly by. Gotta get moving on some chores.
((((hugs to my gal-pals))))

later, chickadees,
S.

Hi Gang!

Decompressing after a REALLY stressful meeting with those darn ole Deacons. One of the women accused me of emotional blackmail. I think it may have been when I suggested that the Deacon of a church needs to attend that church on a regular basis! Oh silly me. One more week with these bozos.

Shel: I go out to SoCa on the 14th! Yikes. Our weather today was 114! Can you believe that? I went outside about 3:00 to get some lu/inner, and felt as though I was in a blast furnace. But, a boomer storm came over about 6:00 and it cooled off some. Now it's bearable. It's 11:00 pm and 77degrees. That I can take. (Of course, I turned down the AC as soon as I walked in the house) DH had it at 78 all day. Okay for him, but I need it at 75 to sleep. Also, I want to thank you (NOT) for introducing me to Gravity Tiles. I am ADDICTED to that foolish game!

Tomorrow I'm off. Friday night my Associate Pastor is coming over for dinner. He is a sweetie. He's 27. I'm going to back him a blueberry pie. He loves blueberries. He brings out the Mom in me. Of course, I'm almost old enough to be his grandmother, but we won't go there.

Peace, Peg

See ya tomorrow.

Good morning!

We got some rain last night. I don't know if it was enough to really make a difference, though. It's almost 5 AM and can't see a thing outside yet! It's also supposed to be cooler today. Yea!

Peg, LOL about your "sweet spot" for your assistant pastor! And BOO to the b!tch that says you are guilty of emotional blackmail. Deacon should attend his/her church? DUH.

YIKES. I was thinking the end of August for your move was "far away." But it's the 3rd already! Many hugs are being sent to you as you start the BIG PACK. And it sounds like you have some good leads to check out when you go to SoCa on the 14th. Good, good luck!

As for your massage therapist, you are so lucky to have found one who actually knows what she is doing! Will you be able to continue this therapy in SoCa?

Judy, I am so sorry to hear the news about your Daddy. Just when you thought you had him settled for a while .... But he will get the attention and the care he needs at the nursing home. It will be a better place for him.

Brenda, what's up with you today?

Shelley, did you get any of the rain we had last night? I hope so! We have been luckier than you. At least there has been no watering ban. At least not one that I am aware of!

Here's hoping you do get today and tomorrow off. And how about a picture of your new glasses? (You don't need to post a picture of your new crown, though)!

Barb, how great you can now cross off "new driveway" on your list! How many days did you have to let it "cure" before you could drive on it?

((HUGS)) to you on the anniversary of your Mom's death. Yanno, even if the marriage was a "hair shirt" I'll bet your Dad misses her a lot. There were happy times, I am sure.

Donna, did you post yesterday? Perhaps I missed it. Hoping ALL is WELL.

Rachel, are you out there?

----------------

On the issue of working on the web site at Ashley's -- I think it's just that she wants to get it done and if I can spend some time on it at the office, it will get done that much faster. However, I find I am more creative in the quiet of the morning hours, at home, with the comfort of MY computer. Capisce? ("understand" in Italian). Yesterday, while going through the "display" properties for the monitor at the office, I did see a "font smoothing" box that was not checked. Much better now! At least I won't get a headache looking at that screen all day!

I think I have also come up with a simple web design I like (finally)! Perhaps it will all fall into place. Although, now I have to change all my .gifs from a white background to a beige background! Fun with web sites.

Have a great day everyone! XXOO

Good morning, Alida. Nice to see a long post from you. I'm in awe of your web-designing talents, on top of your other creative skills. We got a big wind here last night, and a little rain. Hope that will settle the dust from the city curb project on the adjacent block. Our neighbors have had to park their cars on the street, just like us. Our neighborhood looks like a used car lot--or a BIG party going on somewhere. NOT! Our driveway should be "cured" and ready by Saturday.

Peg, I wonder what would have happened if you had said that a Deacon ought to contribute money to the church on a regular basis? You might have been tarred and feathered. Not a good thing when it's hot out.
I'm sure you feel tarred and feathered anyway, by all this hassle. I'm glad you can get a few kinks worked out by a helpful therapist.

Shelley, being able to see straight is usually an advantage. Hope the new glasses will be good for quite a while. But yes, it's always something. You seem to have a cheerful attitude no matter what--and that mountain time will get here sooner or later. Are you breaking in the new hiking boots indoors?

Bren, Teel, Judy, Rachel...complicated and busy lives, all. It's amazing to be a witness to life unfolding in so many different ways and places. Who needs reality tv? I look forward to hearing from everyone, and hope for the best today.

Even watching it day after day, we simply cannot conceive what it would be like to have bombs dropping into our homes at random, rubble all around, and armed troops everywhere we look. This war is a sickness as devastating as any other disease we can't find a cure for.

Let's count our blessings today. Amen.

It's been so busy at work, I've barely had time to think let alone get in here to post. Better get this done while I have a moment.

Barb: Count my blessings? You've got that right. We lost another Canadian soldier in Afghanastan this morning....so senseless. We had it so good here and a lot of us don't even appreciate it.

Peg: What a job you have ahead of you with packing and moving. I don't envy you. I haven't moved in 24 years...I think I'd just have to get a dumpster put outside the house to get rid of the junk.

My ds and family were here on the weekend and I managed to get rid of a sleeping bag, gameboy with all the games and a desk. Yippee!!! He thought he'd had Christmas in July and I thought I'd gotten rid of junk! I kept asking him if he wanted anything else. A major cleanup is going to take place in my basement before winter, that's for sure!!

Shelley: New hiking boots! And you could return the 2 year old ones....bonus!! I've never heard of a store doing that. Good for you.

Alida: So good to see you posting again. I envy you being able to set up websites. I wouldn't even know where to start. We had our techie over to the house Tuesday night and it turns out the Yahoo web bar was causing us to flip off the internet as soon as we had logged on. He removed it....and no problems anymore. Dh is in heaven being able to play his games at night again.

My dd's little cat Harley has gone missing. It's been 5 days so I'd say it's safe to say a coyote got him. She never used to let him outside, but he'd been used to it before he came to her and he was getting very frustrated, so she decided it probably wouldn't hurt. Her trailer is in a little park next to a mountain and I know for a fact that their are coyotes there. Anyway, she was just a basket case when he disappeared. I figured she'd use it as a good excuse to hit the bottle again. I told her to get another cat right away to help with the hurt, but she refused. Well, someone showed up a her house yesterday with a tiny kitten and now she's just like a new mommy. This poor little kitten is only a month old...too young to be away from mommy. But, they didn't want the kittens around anymore. It's going to need a lot of supervision at first, but that seems to be helping dd get over the fact that Harley's gone. Guess I'll have to head over there after work and see this new baby.

I was about ready to give up on my nightly walking cause the scale didn't budge and my measurements haven't changed. I've done all the tweaking I could think of to try and get something to happen. Then yesterday....the scale dropped 1 1/2 lbs. Hooray!! And again, this morning another 1/2 lb. It could have been the heat or whatever, but I'm taking it. So...now I'm at 157 again. And hoping to drop even more.

Our heat left last week and it's just nice and comfy...around 72-76. So easy to sleep now. I'm still chasing hoses around all night, but that's okay, at least the flowers aren't gasping for water.

Back to work. It's a long weekend for us this weekend but I'll try and get back in tomorrow.

Hi Gang!

Sale fell through this morning. They came up with a still more ridiculous contingency to the sale, and we finally said, "no more." So, we're back on the market. On Wednesday, we will be listed at 10k less than we are now. C'est la vie!

So, I called the mover and asked to be kept in the files, but no idea when we will move. Called the storage facility to cancel our move out date. Buyers didn't seem interested in getting a "bridge loan" to simply buy the damn place and remove all these ridiculous contingencies. Just as well, I think.

We're both in shock. But, I'm trying to see in a positive light and see all the things that I wanted to complete before we move. Okay.

See ya later,
Peg

Hola, gal-pals!
Well, I did get to stay home today, and I'll be off tomorrow as well. Next week is shaping up to be busy on all days, so I'll just take it one day at a time, I guess. I really wish I didn't worry and stress over my job...it does tend to *wear* one down, yanno?

Alida...girl, we didn't get one drop of that rain! :( However, I do hear thunder in the distance, and there are some gray clouds hanging about, so I'll hope for the best. We are forecasted for a *cool* front tomorrow and our temp is only supposed to be 97-ish! Still to HOT!!!....but better than 103, I guess. Oh, you will let us know when we can click on your new web site, and see it, right????

Barb...yes...I will wear my hiking boots inside for a few days to try and soften them up a bit. They really do feel pretty good. I went with an all leather boot this time, and they do have a nice rounder toe box. In a few weeks, I will wear them when I walk, just to get some miles on them before we actually hike.

Bren...whatcha been doin'? I'm still betting you have been elbow deep in your redecorating. And of course, we want pic-chas!!!

Peg....yanno....I'm glad you guys deep-sixed those folks and all their contingencies....aacckk! I bet you'll have offers much better and with less hoop jumping soon! Hang in there. Will you be staying with your BF in Calif when you go out on the 14th???

Judy...hoping things are leveling out for you and your dad. Sending hugs and prayers for all to be well.

Donna...that's one of the things I love about LLBean....money back guarantee. Period.
Of course those boots had never been worn outdoors. I probably had them on a grand total of 20 minutes or less, walking around in the house to try and see if they were going to be OK. I don't know why I didn't send them back right after I got them. If I recall, we left on our trip and I took my old hikers, and totally forgot about them once I got home...BIG DUH!!! Then I ordered a different style(low cut) just a few weeks ago, but they really didn't fit right or feel good either. I've got clunky ole nurses' feet for sure. If a shoe ain't comfy...I ain't wearin' it....LOL! Thank God for Borns and Clarks too!

Teel....hope you are having a grand time. You'll be back tomorrow(Tuesday), right?
<insert possible CRS here>
We've missed ya bunches!

Rach....I hope you are also decompressing, like playing with your little nephews maybe? We still want to hear that Aremenian hospital story you've promised us.

Well....I got in a 45 min walk this morning and yes, you know it....I STBO, despite taking a water towel with me....OYE! It was 85 degrees at 0800 this morning, and I think we topped out at 103 today. I think it has actually quit thundering, so I bet the rain is going to miss us....d*mn!!!!

I also managed to go grocery shopping and made a run to the HFS as well. Tomorrow I'll clean house big time, and then I just may take Saturday AND Sunday off as SLUG days!

later, chickadees!
(((hugs all round)))

Aw shoot, Peg. What a roller coaster you've been on with these people. I'm really sorry it didn't work out--it seemed like it was getting close, at least. I imagine you are still in shock, but now that they're out of the picture, we'll just make way for the perfect offer to come in, ok?

Emotional blackmail? You gotta be kidding. Well, at least you know you've made her uncomfortable. Sometimes you have to sit on a nail before you'll move your *ss, ya know?

Yes, I'm still taking the yoga class. I'm going to continue for the foreseeable future--it's been a centering experience I needed again. I've always wondered about cranio-sacral therapy--it sounds so interesting. There's a massage therapist who works next to the yoga studio who does it....I'm tempted.

Donna, we're both in "give away the junk" mode. I can't tell you how many trips I've made to Goodwill, and now (HOORAY) I've got DDad in the mood for cleaning out.

I'm so sorry your DD lost her kitty :( Her new baby is going to need a lot of mothering at 4 weeks. Perhaps that will keep your dd busy and feeling needed.

Barb, we finally got our nice rain here this morning, which has lowered the temperature a bit, too. We must have also been in the path of your wind. When I came home yesterday, my patio umbrella had taken flight, landing gracefully, it seems, in the side yard. I admit to a moment of discombobulation while my brain tried to imagine what the green pointy thing in the yard might be.

Alida,
great to see your post this morning. Sure glad you found an adjustment for your monitor at work. Nothing worse than straining your eyes all day. BUT, you've got a web design you like--well if you like it, I'll bet it's a great design. Talent, m'dear.

Hey, Shell, glad you had the day off! Tomorrow, too We got your rain and needed it, but not as much as you did. Ya know, I want my shoes comfy, too. Of course, I really don't have many places to wear 4 inch heels any more so comfy isn't that difficult, or wouldn't be if my feet were both the same size! Glad you got those glasses fixed--they sound perfect now. You've promted me to think about getting mine checked, too. The reading area of the bifocal is SO tiny. I wonder if Terry got hers straightened out before her trip?

And Judy, thinking of you and hoping you are getting your Dad settled in. I do wish you had more time before you have to be back in school. Next week. Oh my. This hasn't quite been the summer you planned.

Waves to Rachel and TB

I started this post about four hours ago. How time flies when you are trying to figure out a new cell phone, link with Outlook (PITA), and find a ring tone that won't be embarrassing . I am very grumpy at the whole deal, darn it, since I didn't want a new phone in the first place. Other than that, the usual this and that around here.

Oh, I got window treatments for the LR today, but have to make a choice of how I'm going to use them before I get hardware. I can feel myself obsessing about what would be "perfect." Not only that, it's really perturbing how much time can be wasted ruminating about this vs that vs the other, whether it's drapes or pictures, or sheets, or..... In the long run it's not going to matter a bit what covers the windows, but try to tell that to the squirrel in my brain :o

Lotsa news here this morning!

Peg--RATS!!! It's so hard living the "betweener" life. But take a deep breath. You know you didn't feel good about that complicated arrangement. When the right thing happens, all this will drop behind you. We're here for the long term--no contingencies!

Quote:

I know this little guy! Very funny. Not fun, but funny. You'll figure it out. As the absolute Queen of Slapdash, I don't really relate to the details of decorating. I hang a new picture wherever there's a nail. In a year or so, Cingular will probably offer me a new "free" phone at the end of my contract. Do I really want the hassle? Well, I probably will need to upgrade. Sigh.

The First Friday of the month is Brand Day at work. It's unbelievable how they are pushing us to wear "the uniform"--that is, anything with the logo on it, or in company colors (plum and gold). It's like high school. I'll bet one of the executives attended some high-level conference in Aspen or someplace, and "encourage corporate pride" was one of the topics. Oh well. I've got a plum jacket, and I'll slap on the logo lapel pin. I often joke that I'm going to get the Hallmark crown tattooed on my butt. S'pose I could flash that for the gift certificate award for Brand Day?

Go Hallmark!

Back later.

Quick fly-by.........

DH and I toured five nursing homes yesterday. Most of the time we figured that it was wasted time and that Daddy would decide to go back to the same snf where he had rehab. That place was depressing! The people were nice, but the facility was old and not some place that I would want him to spend the rest of his life. Late yesterday afternoon he told DSIL that he might need to consider something else. That finally opened the door for considering the places that we had visited. We now have things narrowed to three sites including the original one. DB is taking off work this afternoon to look at the two new ones with us. Tonight we will present all the options to Daddy and let him make the final call. Expected move is sometime next week. DH will come back to help with that.

Got to get dressed and begin the process of the last weeding out of stuff. We may get home tomorrow night. I'll "see" you guys then.

Judy, I figure you won't see this for a day or so, but thoughts are with you. You've gone about this just right--knowing that your dad would need and want to be a part of the decision. I have to add that nursing homes, by definition, are depressing. My mom was in a very nice one, and still my heart sank every time I walked down those endless hallways. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and be at peace with it.

Hi Gang!

I'm feeling a little less like getting on a slow boat to China today. But, still sort of realizing that we are NOT moving right away. It has led both dh and I to begin spreading our own stuff throughout the house, as if we weren't showing it soon probably! Oh well! Today I need to do some cleaning. My darling Assoc Pastor is coming for dinner and furthermore, I need to stage this damn place again.

It looks as though dh has a hernia, and it will need to be fixed soon. He has a call into the Dr. Sigh. More dr. stuff to get taken care of before we go.

Judy: You continue in my thoughts and prayers. I have been there too, with my Mom. It is a terrible prospect no matter how nice the place is. Peace to you.

Barb: I used to work for the Girl Scouts, and we had that "pride of work" stuff too. Only we had to wear our uniforms on that day. It was a PITA.

Bren: I LOL'D over your "green pointy thing" in the backyard. How funny!

Well, Alida and Shel and Donna and Barb: Just one more day and then the weekend! Wooho!

I gotta go and help put away the groceries. I wasn't able to convince dh that he should cook for a third week in a row! (I didn't really try)

See ya later,
Peg

Judy, tough decisions for everyone. I've been in a few nursing homes that made me want to run, or cry, or both. However, I've also experienced ones that were clean, odorless, sunlit, and with caring, sensitive staff members. It's a difficult prospect, nonetheless, I know.

Peg, what a letdown, darn it. And now DH needs surgery? I do hope it's they kind that can be repaired laparoscopically. Let us know what the Dr. thinks. Meanwhile, hang in there kid. Maybe a delayed sale will mean something perfect could open at the ofh and you could avoid a second move.

Do have a lovely dinner with your Assoc Pastor, even if you DO have to cook!

Afternoon to everyone else, and hugs all around.

Got some drapery hardware at JCP today, and bought two lamps while I was at it. You know, that sounds so easy, but I am still absolutely sick to my stomach over the anxiety. I'm actually getting a migraine. Talk about making yourself crazy! See, this is what carbfests used to sublimate. Now I actually have to feel these d*mn feelings :o
