| Hi Gang! Here I am checking in. Been finishing up this week at the church. Seems everyone wants to talk to me, see me, complain and whine this last week. Funny. Anyway, I've been busy. Also, we had two people look at the condo, and there is a rumor of a possible offer coming up. We are both leaving a little later in the day to go to our churches. I have to drop dh off for the rest of the day and evening. I have my last class with the Deacons tonight. Found out yesterday that my DD2 is going to be in California at the same time as I am and I may get to babysit my gkids on next Saturday night at a hotel (while they attend her hs reunion). I also might get to see them all DD2 and DD3 and their kids and spouses next Saturday during the day! Wouldn't that be fabulous!!? DD3 has a pool, and it could be a big swimming party. Anyhoo, I'll let you know as it develops. I leave for CA on Monday afternoon. I won't take a computer, but there are lots where I'm going. So, I'll check in. Barb: Have a great time! Bren: OHMIGAWD!! I LOVE the after. You really lightened up the room. I, too, am impressed at how much we all like red! Our real estate site now includes a movie showing the condo if you are interested. It is here . I haven't been able to open the movie. Don't know why. Shel: So sorry that you are still in the hotbox!! We have cool weather. Almost cool enough for a sweater this morning. We are supposed to get to 80 sometime today, though. Nothing, compared to what you are suffering. Terry: Bummer about the tooth. I had a root canal tooth begin on vacation once. It was brutal until I could get to the dentist. Donna: How's it going with you? Judy: I continue to pray for you and your family, darlin. You are in my thoughts every day. Alida: How's it going for you? RACHEL: POST, GIRL! Happy Hump day! Love ya all!

| PEG! The movie is FAB! Professional, your place looks awesome, and if even has great background music--a classical concerto I don't know, but sounds maybe Haydenish (?) I'd buy in a heartbeat Woohoo on seeing all the grandkids (and dd's) next week. Kismet! ___________________ I've got guys trying to mark utility lines in the back yard. ComEd is moving our service to a new transformer, but no one will tell me if and how much of my back yard is going to be dug up, and I am just sick. I don't care about the grass, but I have huge exotic hostas, lilies of the valley and european ginger in a shade garden where they're marking and tromping. My Mom and I planted those in 1989 :( I want to move them if everything's going to be ruined, but nobody's talking...... ack!

| Looks like I've been the one MIA for a couple of days. Just too much work to do, I guess. Brenda: I wouldn't let anyone near my yard until they told me what they intended to do. A lot of guys don't care a bit about other people's property and would ruin those plants. Come on girl...be assertive. lol And your room is so bright and airy looking now. What a change. Good job! Peg: Babysitting the grandkids? Fantastic! That's a job I love, but don't get to do very often. Actually, my dil decided that they should camp with us on the Labour Day long weekend cause they've been camping with her parents quite a bit. Hmmm...wonder what she wants? lol Shelley: I was thinking of you last night when I gave myself a pedicure. My toes are now sporting a pinky purple colour...very shiny and pretty. Judy: Ready for the little darlings tomorrow? Your summer holidays just flew by, but maybe that's a good thing? It makes it closer to the time you get to hold your first grandchild. That's a feeling that's impossible to describe. My grandkids were so tiny there were all in incubators so I had to wait to hold them, but I did get to touch their tiny fingers. Rachel: Everything okay I hope? Terry: What was the trip like? Looks like there are a couple of good movies coming out that I'd like to see...if it didn't cost an arm and a leg that is. It's over $20 to get in the movie here now. That's why we usually wait for the video. Anyway, I want to see Step Up about dancers and of course, I want to see the movie about 911. I read a story in the paper about one of the police officers that went into the wreckage to pull out another office and he really couldn't get over how authentic it is. I think it hits the movies today. Anyone plan on seeing it? And if so, please let me know what you thought. I'm still walking, walking, walking. I had to cut it short by 1 block two nights ago cause it was so hot I was having trouble breathing. But, it is paying off. This morning registered 154.....a number I haven't seen in many, many moons. I was shocked when I got off the scales. I'm not sure if it's the walking or the flax muffins working that's doing it. But, I'll take it anyway. (now I'm going to be scared to weigh myself tomorrow) What a crappy sleep I had last night!! I think I might have gotten 4 hours. Talk about a mind not shutting off. I'm sure I solved all the problems of the world before I finally did fall asleep only to be woken up by little kitty kisses by a fat cat that wanted out. I'm having problems today keeping my eyes open and sure don't have much energy. Did I tell you that I've been visiting every lc website that I can find and gathering recipes? I have a binder that's just packed now. I print them off and put them in plastic sleeves to protect them. Now, I just need some cool weather to try some of them. My old tried and favorite recipes are getting boring so I needed something new that didn't use weird things. DD ended up getting two kittens. They are so adorable I'd love to take them home, but no more cats for me. I'm taking her our large catstand for them to use as a scratching post. She doesn't intend to let them outside (ever) so I thought the stand would be good cause they could sit up high and look outside. (also, can you say....more junk out of Donna's basement! yippee) Gotta go....boss is back. Talk to you all tomorrow, I hope.

| Ready or not, here they come! I could be more ready, but I guess whatever I have done will do. I'm in a better humor today. Sorry to come whine last night. DDad got moved. DH needs to wind things down and get home --The dog is driving me crazy...... she even walked up and peed on the floor right in front of me. I doubt that Brenda would approve of my reaction to her "accident." After I drug her outside, she dug a hole right in the middle of the grass about 3" wide and 12" deep. I think she's not happy about having to stay in the bathroom during the day. Summer has been kind of rough on her, too.

| Good morning, Darlings, from 9000 feet--on the ground. One sis is on the phone with her daughter in Brooklyn (asking about the terrorist threat), the other is elbow deep in BBQ'd pork butts, pulling the meat into shreds. The famous "pulled pork" which we'll be selling from our site tomorrow. I'm glad not to be getting on a plane today. Yikes. Peg, this is going to affect you, so pack patience-but no liquids--in your carryon. The doggies are ready for a walk up the mountain, and I am, too. I'll be back later. Judy--good thoughts for a great start to the school year. |

| Hi, I'm still using DH's computer, a Mac laptop, so bear with me as I'm not used to this OS or keyboard. Actually, I dislike any laptop keyboard, Mac or PC, as the insertion point tends to jump around when I use one.... dunno why, but there it is. I've not uploaded any pictures from Victoria, as I keep forgetting to ask him what he has for an FTP program. Hopefully, soon. I'm going to take my PC in to see if the power problem can be fixed, but DH convinced me I need a new computer in any event - as long as it's a Mac. Soooo... I caved, and now I am awaiting delivery of a new iMac. AiAiAi! although I cut my teeth on Apple computers, I've not used the MacOS for almost 9 years. But, the Apple store nearby assures me they will get me up to speed in no time - they have free, onsite classes. I am very sad to learn about the terrorist plot on the airlines (of course, very relieved it was foiled). But, I feel badly for all those people waiting in long lines for additional security checks. Everything went very smoothly with customs and security when DSis , DF, and I traveled last week, and even then it was trying. I've much sympathy for those standing in long lines and worrying about the security measures right now. Peg, I've got my fingers crossed that your travel goes as smoothly as possible under the c urrent condiotions. And, I hope concerns have eased by the time both Barb and Peg are on their return trips. My low back is just killing me since Monday. Sitting is currently very difficult. I think I tweaked a disc when handling my luggage Saturday night. I took a BIG pain killer last night (I've hoarded them against future needs since 2002),and it seemed to help - I was able to sleep, anyway. Apparently, they are still good after all these years. But I'm back to plain ol' motrin during the day. It's not helping that much. My yoga teacher gave me some gentle exercises yesterday. They don't help with the discomfort, but I presume they will shorten the recovery time? I'll try to write more later, but it's too uncomfortable to stay seated at the moment. (sorry for whining).

| You aren't going to believe this.....it's raining!!! Oh, it smells so good and even feels good. Last night when I got home from work it was kind of dark out so I ran for the lawnmower to get the grass cut before the rain came. I just managed to finish in time. It rained about 3 drops! Then when I started out on my walk it just poured, and I got soaked, but it felt so good. It stopped again after about 1/2 hour. Then we woke up this morning to rain and it's still raining an hour later. Ohhhh, we need this so bad, for the fires, the farmers, and Donna's flowers. So....whoosssshhhh...I'm sending some to each of you too. Judy: Poor Lexie...sounds like she's definitely telling you the bathroom isn't a nice place to be alone in all day. No other place she could be put? Mine would be screaming if I ever left them alone period. But, then, I'm lucky in that I can take mine to work with me. Barb: Have a great time girl. And of course, we want pictures of you with your sisters. I know how much you enjoy this weekend. Terry: Awww, sorry you are hurtin'. That's just not the way to end a holiday. Hope you're feeling better soon. Brenda: What happened with your backyard? I was thinking about your poor Hostas last night, and when I told dh about it, he said he'd like to see someone come in our yard and try to dig anything with me standing shotgun! lol It's just about impossible to kill Lily of the Valley up here, I've tried. It just takes over everything, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Never tried to grow Ginger though. Poor dh! When he got home last night, I think he was wishing he'd stayed at work. Boy...was I the grouch. I didn't like having to walk in one door and out the other to start mowing lawns after working all day, and I resented the fact that I'd probably have to make dinner when I was finished, plus I knew I still had to do a load of laundry and then walk the dogs and make lunches. Get the idea? When he got home I was struggling with one patch of grass that's really thick and the stupid lawnmower kept getting stuck and digging up the lawn. He walked over and sugguested that we move the blade up a little. Wrong move!! I just growled at him and told him to get his butt out of my way. Wow....can his little legs ever move fast!! lol By the time I was finished, I was sweating and swearing. I walked into the kitchen and he had a big salad made with freshly cooked garlic shrimp to go on top. You can guess how my "mad" deflated. But, I still had laundry, walking the dogs, and lunches to make. lol Next Friday we have a camping weekend with the baseball team. It's on the land of one of the ballplayers who lives about 3 hours from us. He's got acreage and we all camp there. Then play ball with the local teams on the Saturday and Sunday. Such fun! Big potluck dinner on Saturday night and then sit around the campfire. Bocci Ball games all day between games, or sit in the hot tub. See why I can't wait? Well, the "whoosh" I got yesterday was just a tease. 3 pounds of it showed back up today. So, either it's water gain or my scales are hooped! I know it's not weight gain cause I had salad for lunch and salad for dinner, so there is no way in he$$ that I could gain 3 pounds overnight. Well, guess I should earn my pay. So far, all I've done is balance my own checkbook and of course check in here with my friends. Better get moving. Have a fine day everyone!

| Hi guys, I'm off today, but about to leave for the dentist. This stupid temporary crown came off YET AGAIN while I was eating lunch today....aarrgghhh! The permanent crown won't be ready until next week, and they don't want me to go without a crown on the tooth. I'm just about to boil over here!!!(can you tell I'm still cranky due to the heat????) LOL. We are forcasted to hit 108 degrees today!!!! UGH!!! Teel...so sorry to hear your back is acting up....back pain is horrid...hang in there, and do take those BIG drugs if you need them! Also staying on nsaids 24/7 might help cut the inflamation...just a thought. You could take them along with the BIGs if ya needed to. Barb....no kidding....I am totally jealous if you are out of this insuferable heat! Have fun...I know you will....and snap some pics for us, OK? Peg...hang in there kiddo! Hoping you get the perfect offer asap! The movie was neat-o! Alida...hope you are well...miss ya!!! Bren...hope you are hanging in there to. Sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Judy....marita tonight???? LOL. I know if it were me doing the first day back to school in this heat, I'd prolly have 2 maritas!!! LOL. Hope it all went well. Donna...WTG on the walking...I'd love to walk in the rain here, but unfortunately, most of our rain is usually accompanied by thunder and lightening!!! YIKES!!!! Those days, I stay home or hit the gym...LOL. Rachel...hope you are good! Any news on a new assignment yet? Absolutely nothing new here except the heat continues, and we've had several heat related deaths in the state. More triple digits forcasted for the next 4 or 5 days I think....cranky, cranky, cranky....LOL. Alrighty...off to the dentist! later, chickadees! Shell

| Well....guess what????????? After I walked in at the dentist's office, a guy came in behind me. I heard the receptionist exclaim "OMG...what perfect timing!". Then she peeked around the corner into the lobby and told me that was the delivery guy from the dental lab and he had just delivered my permanent crown!!!! HOORAY!!!! So........no more temporary crown...I got the real deal placed today!!!! I didn't even question why I had been told it would be next week when I had spoken with her 2 hours earlier on the phone....nope...not me, no sireeeeeee....LOL. Never look a gift horse in the mouth as my nana used to say. Nearly 1900(7PM) and it's still 104 degrees!!! BIG UGH!!!!! Pray for rain and cool air soon for us here in the lowlands! later chickadees! | 104 here today, too. Hard to believe that kids are in school when it is that hot -- until you freeze to death in my room. It's always winter there. So, in the continuing saga of my life........... Bobby is still in Dallas and coming home tomorrow. His dad's surprise 80th birthday party is this weekend and we will have a house full of company. This place is disgusting. I'll have to do a big time Merry Maid act on it after I get home tomorrow. Donna let's you and I run away together for a spa vacation. I think we both deserve it for holding down two jobs -- the paid one and the unpaid one.

| Hi guys, Wowzers...I think we must all be super busy, plus a few of our gal-pals are slightly MIA...LOL. Not much to report from the heartland today...just miserably hot and dry. We continue to be under watering restrictions and a red flag burn ban(no outdoor fires....and that includes grilling outdoors in your own back yard). It actually sprinkled on me on the way to work this morning...for a total of perhaps 7 raindrops....yes, I counted them...they were that sparse...har! In my quest to *get in shape* for our upcoming vacation hikes, I think I've injured my knee....man!!!!....IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!!!!! waaahhhh!!! I have pain in my left knee with motion(walking), and it feels like it is about to give away. I am going to hit the nsaids this weekend and use a heating pad and see if it's just some inflamation from starting the treadmill again. Otherwise, those are symptoms of a possible meniscal tear or possible chondromalacia...neither of which I want :( Anyhoo...I have a knee brace that I pulled out of retirement and I will skip a few days on the TM and see how it feels Sunday. Soooooooo........hope everyone else is doing good and has a most relaxing and laid back week end. I look forward to seeing you all here around the campfire as soon as your busy lives allow you to pull up that chair (((hugs to my gal pals!!))) Shelley

| Hey Shel and Alida! Thanks for keeping the home fires burning! (so to speak) Well, Summer is over here. We are in the 60's this morning and actually too cold to have the windows open all the way last night. But, the cicadas and crickets were having a party last night. It was simply raucous out there! Shel, and other of you dears who are still suffering through the heat, perservere darlings, it will soon be over. I'm thinking about you! I don't like the cool, if you remember. I teased dh all day yesterday that the next thing we are going to see is "s" (you know that snow word). It was my plan to be out of here before it got cold!! We are now "debating" whether to make October 1 or November 1 the date that we shoot for at the outside whether the condo is sold or not. I suspect that you know which date is my preference. We have an open house again tomorrow afternoon. We've lowered the price by 10K and hope that will bring in some people that the higher price might have missed. Meanwhile, we are cleaning madly today in order to "stage" the dang place again. Also, tomorrow is my last day at the Church. Yay! The Deacons gave me a party on Wednesday night. It included chocolate cake and some other stuff that I won't mention here. Also, they gave me the most beautiful dozen long stemmed pink roses. They are almost full blown this morning and the most beautiful roses I've seen for a while! Nice, huh? Judy: How'd it go for the first two days with your new kids? Are they going to be manageable, do you think? I'm wondering if you are going to Plano this weekend to see DDaddy? Yaknow, when we drive West again this Fall, we may be coming by your neck of the woods. We are taking the most direct route possible to Carrolton from MA. I'll let you know. Shel: Oh Damn on the knee!! I do hope that you haven't damaged it. But, I know your concern. It is the PITS this aging thing. DH and I are both railing over not being able to pick up and carry stuff. Of course, we still don't have a hand truck. Alida: I do hope that this might be a restful weekend for you. Though, I know that when you work full time, the weekend is when you have to do those pesky errands that need doing (like food shopping, yuk!). Barb: I suspect that you are deep into BBQ sauce this morning. Do continue to have a great time! Bren: And, what're you doing this beyoootiful day?? Rachel has gotten herself into quite a Country this time, huh? Equatorial Guinea. According to the Boston Globe this morning, the President (who obtained that office through a coup in 1979) fired the entire government including the Prime Minister yesterday. I'm wondering if Rachel wil have anything to do with the government. I hope not. Donna: I KNOW what you are doing this weekend. Partying!! Do have a good time with your baseball pals. It sounds like real fun! Terry: What're you doing this weekend. I actually envy you the new Mac. I would change platforms in a heartbeat if I could change over all my software. I started out with a Mac too. But, then their stores started getting scarcer and scarcer and I had no support or software other than through the mail. Also, their peripherals and software became so expensive. Still, the possibilities for graphics and ease of use and intuitive platform make it very, very attractive! Well, I think I have the "carrying my drugs in a different name than what is on my ticket" problem solved for my flight for Monday. My anxiety level has dropped considerably. It was a long convoluted route to get there, but nonetheless, I'm better. Flying at this time is a little problematic, but at least I can have my IPod and my headphones! I have three books loaded on it. and I'm taking a couple of paperbacks. I think I'll pick up a crossword puzzle book to keep me occupied during the "loading the plane" process. I'll be gone from Monday to next Sunday. DH just came in my office to tell me that we might have an offer on the condo. Real estate agent called. It is a contingency offer as before. Blah! See ya later, Peg

| Peg, hopefully the contingencies are the normal, minor ones (passing inspections, qualifying for a loan). I thought I read that no electronics, including laptops and c ell phones are allowed on airplanes currently? Might want to bring real books and magazines rather than the iPod. Also, as a contingency plan, you could mail or FedEx some of your Rx drugs to your destination so they will be there when you arrive. Shelley, I hope your knee problems is just a passing thing and not serious. Sometimes, twinges just pop up for a day or two and then go away. Fingers crossed!
