| We're all so busy it seems like there are fewer and fewer postings. Once the weather calms down, I'm sure we'll all be back. I got up early this morning and started cleaning. So much for a day off. But, then I started putting things in piles that I didn't want or need anymore. As I started seeing some of the rooms getting neater and the closets not so crammed it got kind of fun. I've filled 2 more big bags of clothes for charity, cleaned under the sink in the bathroom and thrown out 2 bags of stuff that was guaranteed to get rid of soap scum and didn't work, and loaded up and delivered the large cat stand to my dd. All without dh's help. If he had been here, it never would have gotten done. I'm sure I'll get a lecture when he gets home. He thinks I should sit and do nothing on the weekends...the whole damned house would fall apart if I did that. I have to say this walking thing is really working. Last night I did 2 1/2 miles and really enjoyed it. It was cooler with a nice breeze and I just wanted to keep on walking. I knew I would pay for it later though so I just came home and got the dogs and took them around a couple of blocks. Their little legs can't go very far. (or their chubby bellies either). This mornings weight...155. I'll take it!!!! Peg: No camping this weekend. It's next weekend that we go. You're right though...it is a lot of fun with a great bunch of people. Terry: You didn't tell us about your trip to Victoria. Or did I miss it? Barb: I can just picture you covered in BBQ sauce but with an even "saucier" grin on your face. Can't wait for the stories. I just finished cooking my bacon for the week and I think I just might make some mini chocolate chip muffins to freeze. Can't have enough lc goodies to handle my sweet tooth. I do limit myself though. Another thing I've found is that if I don't have meat and veggies besides salad during the day....I gain weight. Crazy, but it's true. I can have a big roast dinner with a couple of veggies and salad and I usually lose, but if I have salad for lunch and dinner...I gain. Not much else happening here. The heat is supposed to come back tomorrow...I've really been enjoying these cooler days. And Peg...shame on you for the "S" word.

| Good morning! I can't wait for this danged web site to be done so I can spend more time with all of you! I have changed it again. I think this version is IT. Currently there are 15 pages, all with photos, head that need to be .gifs, etc. So when I change the background color where the text is, I have to changed all the .gifs. PITA. Now I am wondering if I should add "printer-friendly" pages. Always something. I also changed my computer resolution to 1024 x 768 to check out the site. Oh my. Everything looks so BIG. I usually use 1280 x 1024 just to get more on a page. Type is smaller, but I am used to it. Peg, you leave tomorrow! Have a really good trip and good luck finding the perfect place! Are you staying with your BF? Have you heard any more about the new offer? Prayers that these contingencies are the norm. Judy, so, how are the kids this year? And any new surprises on the administration side? Brenda, how goes the plant battle? Have you found out what those guys are doing in your backyard yet? Shelley, oh no! Bummer on the knee. But sometimes weird stuff just pops up but goes away in a few days. Hope this is one of them! Isn't this heat just awful? It is just so draining. Trying to keep plants alive takes so much time. Forget the grass. It's a goner. I know I am putting off several etch jobs just because of the heat. No one keeps their house cool enough so I don't sweat while working. And I HATE sweating! Barb, when's the BIG contest? I remember the darling picture of you and your sisters (and sister-in-law?) from last year. Looking forward to another great BBQ shot! Terry, a new computer! They are always fun. There is so much power out there now. My first computer was a MAC way back in 1983 or so. $3,000 for what, 516K??!! I was just looking over a Dell catalog. My mouth started watering and my current computer is only a year or two old. By getting a Mac, at least you don't have to face the Vista hassle once it comes out! Donna, you rock! 155 is a great number for you! That is odd about gaining with salads and losing with meat. Maybe your body just needs that extra protein to keep all the gears running. When you don't get that protein, it slows down. Just a thought! You will have so much fun next weekend. It sounds like such a good time! ---------------- Sorry if I have missed any news in my "recap." There are just not enough hours in the day for me right now. But today Bob insists we see a movie. So I will have to tear myself away from the computer to get cleaned up an go. I think we will try to see that 9/11 movie. Great reviews. XXOO

| Sunday Morning (I think). Hi, Girlfriends! WE WON!!! My sister won FIRST PRIZE for her side dish entry--a potato casserole--and 6th place for her "Miscellaneous" entry--"Paco's Shrimp." This is a BIG competition, so these awards are truly significant. We had two busy days at the BBQ, and sold all the meat she cooked. It rained all day Saturday, but that didn't seem to dampen the crowd. I've got pictures, but can't download here. We had a blast--and now we're just going to coast for a couple days. Needless to say, the beautiful cool mountains are a lovely break from the scorched flatlands. Shelley, major commiseration. My sister and I hiked up and down the mountain for an hour this morning, and it was lovely. Please forgive me not responding to everyone--it's just nice to touch base with my crew. Hope everyone has a chance to relax a bit this weekend. |

| Hi Gang! Quick note before I continue getting ready for the airport and the ridiculous new restrictions! Yesterday was my last day at the church. The congregation gave me a nice going away party, along with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a Willow Tree angel that says "thanks" on the front. I LOVE those things. I collect them. It was very sweet. Very, very nice words from everyone. So, today I turn my sights toward California. I have a lead on a house to rent from the daughter of the woman who does housing placement for the ofh. Her daughter has bought another house and needs a renter. I may have told you (CRS) that we can't get in now until early 2007. So, we have pretty much decided to move by the first of October and just rent out there. It was my plan to get out of here before it gets cold. This morning it is 58! I froze last night. Dh needed to have the windows open. that would have been okay but I don't have enough blankets on the bed. Haven't heard anything on the offer, but it's been the weekend. Yesterday our real estate agent had another open house here. We haven't heard from him either. I suspect that dh will hear on both of those today. Let's hope that there is some resolution this week! I'm flying into hot weather in SoCa. But, it IS August. Often the hottest month. I'll spend tonight and Tuesday and Wednesday with bf and Thursday through Saturday with DD3 and dgkids. Saturday day I will see all my dgkids in one place! Yay! Then I get to babysit for the two youngest (3 and 1) on Saturday night before my flight. I'm taking both the digital camera and the movie camera. I was going to travel light, but with all the electronic equipment I need I ended up with a big suitcase. I could have gotten by with a small one for my clothes AND my shoes! And then there are my "potions and lotions," I have to pack them in the suitcase too. There are ALOT of them. Dh looked at it last night, shook his head in wonderment and said, "Boy, you really ARE high maintenance." Yup! I am. I'll check in when I get near a computer. Peace to you all this week. Love, Peg

| Monday morning: Hi, Judy. Best wishes for the new school year. You'll be in the groove soon enough. Peg's off to California. Rachel is Lord knows where! Alida is deep into webpages. Shelley--well, poor you, making the rounds of dr.'s offices. Ack! Too bad. Hope everything heals with speed. I have one more day to enjoy the mountains. Yesterday, we had "beauty day." My kid sis dyed my hair a deeper, richer auburn (the color I used to have before I moved toward a reddish blonde) and then added gorgeous reddish blonde highlights. It is spectacular! She also gave me some cosmetic advice. So I should be a glamourpuss once I get into the Body Shop store and change my colors. She also dyed our other sister's hair a very becoming blonde. Then we all went to the Outlet Mall and spent money. Coldwater Creek blouses and Easy Spirit shoes for me. Woo hoo. We're saying good-bye to another flock of company today, so my sis and I will have a quiet day just us. I'm off tomorrow morning. I'll have to check what I can and can't take in my carry-on purse. Zheesh. Not fun. But it's a short flight to KC, and I've got a thriller to finish. Take care everybody. Thinking of you wherever you (or I) may be. |

| Hey gang, sorry to be MIA myself. No good excuses here--I've been passing by the computer all weekend and saying "ok, I'll sit down SOON." Peg, sorry to have missed your departure. Hope that lead on a a CA house pans out well and that the first thing you hear from DH when you land is that you've got a sale. on the condo. Do have some fun with the dgks while you're there, though! Donna, WOOHOO at 155. See, patience, girl! Barb, great to hear about the successful BBQ and your sis's wins Commiserations are in order to TB, Shelley, Alida, and Judy methinks. TB and Shelley, ouch! Hope TB your back, and Shelley your knee (and now your cornea!) will mend without major intervention!! Shelley, your vacation is SOON, so you have to be mobile and see where you're going! Judy, commiserations to you for having courtyard duty. I can imagine how wilting that is, and first thing in the morning, too. Comes under the heading of "other duties as assigned" eh? Doesn't sound as though your weekend was relaxing, either... Alida, sounds like you're on the right track with the website, and happier with the results, so your commiserations are for all the time you've spent on it. That stuff takes away from "real life!" ___________________________ I've been catching up on a lot of half done projects, like painting the shed. Done! You know, most of what goes on around a house is totally invisible unless you don't do it. I've still got a couple of major things I've started, which I plan to work full steam while DH is in FLA next week. Crossing fingers for the energy! Nothing has happened in the yard yet except for the guys who came to mark the utility lines last week. Unfortunately, they can do most anything they want to in the easements. I'd just like to know how far into the yard they might be digging so I can move plants if need be, but it's been impossible to get a straight answer. Ever try calling the 800 number for your utilities? LOL! I suppose this is a good place for me to practice non-attachment. This morning Dad's cleaning people are here. Yea! And Salvation Army is scheduled to pick up Dad's excess furniture some time today. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like downstairs without wall to wall "stuff." Some of the carpet hasn't seen the light of day for years Hugs to all!

| Another day ........... another issue. DDad saw his new doctor today. After considerable background work and an exam, he thinks that the neurologist may have missed his diagnosis of Parkinson and that Daddy has "Shy-Drager Syndrome". Believe me, this is no improvement on the previous diagnosis. It does help to explain some the issues that he has, though. When you read the list of symptoms, he has them all. Is it time for vacation yet? This was definitely MONDAY!! I had company still at the house this morning, had to be at school early, forgot my cell phone, forgot my lunch, had outside duty, and the remote for my powerpoint projector went out on me. Ok, the rest of the week has to go better!

| Oh, Judy, I'd never heard of Shy-Drager Syndrome, but it seems like such a devastating diagnosis for your Dad. I'm so very sorry. I wish I could give you a vacation from all your worries right now, including a very bad, no good MONDAY. (((HUGS)))

| Good morning! Oh, Judy. I've just read the page about Shy-Drager. Not good news. Many, many (((HUGS))). I am praying the new doctor will be able to give your Daddy some relief with different drugs and make his life a little easier for now. If I were you, I would have eaten the whole cake. And, Shelley, corneal abrasion? How the heck did that happen? How did the treadmill "test" go with your knee? Please be careful! Brenda, yea! on the shed! That project is off the list. And getting rid of extra furniture is GOOD. What are the other projects you want to start next week? Any more news on finding a place for your MIL there in Chicago? Barb, BIG congrats to your sis! And to you, too, for helping! Hmm. Will your sis share her recipe? Oh nuts, it was for potatoes, right? Well, it would be a great company dish! Safe travels home. Peg, how was your flight? Hassle-free, I hope. And I also hope that friend's home will be an easy "YES" for you and solve that problem. You will have so much fun with the kids. Enjoy! Terry, Donna & Rachel -- HI! What's happening with you all today? ---------------- Whew! Ashley likes the web site. Now to fine-tune and finish up some miscellaneous pages. One <sigh> though. I have a picture of an antique chair that shows the ghost outline of a cat. It represents fading. Ya know ... cat sitting there for so long, the fabric fades around it ... anywho, Ashley doesn't like it. Now to hunt for another picture. Sheesh. What's not to like? It's a friggin picture representing fading. We had BIG rain Sunday night and the temps cooled down a little. Now we have a mysterious leak UNDER the furnace. AARRGGHHH. XXOO

| Tuesday morning. One last cool morning in the mountains. I took a long walk up and down the hill this morning, admiring the views of the Gore Range--Buffalo, Red, and Silverthorne peaks--and the valley below. Most of this area is high-rent, many ski condos and summer homes. Nearby resorts are Keystone, Breckinridge, Copper Mountain, usually known collectively as "The Summit" which is also the name of the county. Ill be heading down the mountain just before noon, and home for dinner. Judy, try to remember that what you're really doing is ensuring the future of America. We are grateful, even if your students (and their parents) put up a bit of resistance. The rest of the week can only go better. Meanwhile, I am so sorry to read the awesome list of symptoms for that syndrome, and hope medication can at least provide palliative comforts for your dad. Alida, hoo-rah on finishing the website. Writers have a saying: The fewer words, the more opinions. I'm guessing the beneficiary of all your hard work had to think of SOMETHING to criticize. Oh well. BC, sounds like you're doing well on the spiffying up around your place. I'm leaving my DS's light, bright, tidy contemporary home for my dark, dusty cottage in the midwest. Oh well. One of these days, I'll pull up the dumpster in the driveway and have at it. Donna, Teel, and travelers--good thoughts. |

| Good morning, ladies. Didn't make it in yesterday due to my usual Monday crap. It's bad enough having to go back to work on a Monday without it being the busiest day of the week. At least my day wasn't as bad as yours Judy. Barb: What a wonderful time you're having. Too bad it has to come to an end. Holidays are looking so good to me right now...and I still have to make it until October 6th! Congrats to your sister on her win!! Shelley: Ouch...poor eye...how in the heck did you do that? Do you have to take time off work? Alida: Web site finished....whooppee! Does that mean we'll see your long posts again? Really did miss those. Peg: Hope your flight went okay. I know I'd have to turn my purse inside out to find all kinds of things (like metal nailfiles), that wouldn't be allowed. Have you had a chance to look at the rental house? Brenda: Shed is finished? Whoohoo! One job down and many more to go if you're like me. On Sunday, I had a talk with dh and made him realize that his job of cleaning crap out of the basement isn't finished. It will take many more trips to the dump to get rid of 25 years of "stuff". So, this week all of my old canning went along with a lot of the old camping supplies. This stuff has just been sitting collecting dust and spiders for so long. And taking up room! He has plans to rip down and put up new walls in part of the basement and it would be impossible to do with all the stuff around. He's a pack rat and will admit it. I'm slowly giving away a lot of things that was in the grandkids playroom with the hope that one day I will have my own craft room. This week my dd was presented with her cabbage patch dolls, and all her my little pony collection. Then I cleaned out my hope chest and gave her, her baby shoes and some dresses I had saved. She loved the fact that I had saved this stuff all these years. Funny, I can remember thinking I would never get rid of this stuff and now it's just become a pain in the butt to me. In my hope chest I think I found every picture my kids had ever made for me while in kindergarden. I took pictures of some of them but the rest when in the garbage. I mean, I really needed a paper lamb covered in stale popcorn that was made 26 years ago! But, I did score big in finding a huge box full of GI Joe stuff that my grandsons will love. I bet some of that stuff is worth a bit of money and it's all in perfect condition. But, the look on their faces will be worth more than money. I was just shy of 2 miles in my walk last night. I would have made the 2 miles, but while walking down one sidewalk I could see ahead of me this fellow that's a little weird and with no one else on the street I took a side road that got me home. Better safe than sorry, especially with no one else on the street. So, even with all that's been going on around me, for some reason I'm feeling kind of down. No idea why. Maybe it's the end of summer that's bumming me out, or just the fact that I haven't left this dinky little town in quite awhile. Oh well, a baseball practise in town tomorrow night might be just what I need (and a trip to WalMart after). Haircut tonight that follows the colour that I did on Sunday. Turned out a little darker than usual, but I kind of like it. It will start fading to golden red in just a few days...always does. Okay, *sigh* back to work. Have a good day ladies!
