Hi guys,
I'm off today...horray! We got some very intense T-storms last night(Yeah, Peg...BIG WEATHER)...LOL. Some trees in our neighborhood lost huge limbs, and some fencing was blown down as well. The good news is though...we got 0.7 inches of much needed precipitation....WOOHOO! Now, we could certainly use about 5 times more, but we are thankful for what we got last night for sure!

I meet Eddie150 for dinner tonight He is here in OKC with his job, so we decided to connect for dinner. Of course, we'll take pics, or hopefully luck out and have a good waiter who will do the honors

Here's the deal with the knee...it's still painful, but tolerable as long as I take my NSAIDS twice a day. I do have an ortho appt for Thursday afternoon.
So, I did go to the gym this morning and did my extreme TM(used the knee brace as well.) I'm of the opinion, use it or lose it when it comes to muscles, so until I'm told NOT to do the TM, I'll stay the course. I am careful though, and if the pain were to increase, then I would back off.
The eye thing just kind of disapated on it's own. I had an eye appt, but by mid day, the pain and irritation was gone, and I felt like a duffus for making the appt, so I called back and cancelled. So far, so good. I'm thinking my body must have been in a total *betrayal* mode this weekend...or...the other thought, which I totally don't want to admit...the *age thing* was showing me who's boss! BLAH!!!

Of note on the Shy-Drager syndrome, Johnny Cash was afflicted with it. That was one of the reasons he became a *recluse* in his later years. A very awful disease to live with....Judy, sending good thoughts and hugs for you and your dad

Alida...yay for finishing the web site. When do we get to cruise it? Can't wait!

Peg...have fun in sunny California! I know you will. Also sending good thoughts and hopes that you find just what you need in the housing market.

Bren...woohoo on finishing up those chores!!! Now for something fun, so go for it, Ok?

Barb...happy trails back to Kansas! There is totally nothing that can compare with a cool, crisp mountain morning, IMO. I can hardly wait til my turn gets here

Teel...how's the back? Sure hope you are not *down for the count*.
And...we are still waiting for some vacation pics from you, my dear!

Donna...hey...hope you are doing good! This coming weekend is your big baseball fling, isn't it?? Have fun!

Rach...hi!

Alrighty gal pals...the little bell is dinging itself silly on my clothes dryer, so guess that's my cue to get rolling with some chores...ack!

I'll try and post a pic of the Eddie/Shell dinner if it's not to late when I get home.

later, chickadees!!!

Shelley

I forgot to say that last night was my night to "nag" dh into phoning his parents. It really annoys me that he doesn't think to do it on his own. Wish I still had parents to call. Anyway....when he talked to his dad, he found out that he is having a bone scan this Friday. His back has been bothering him so the doctor ordered the scan cause he thinks he could have cancer in his back. Just what we needed to hear. He's 84 now and just appreciating every day he gets! Maybe that's why I'm a little down?

must be the night for pics......... that's a good one Shelley.

On my part, I think you will agree that water and digging don't mix well.

Although the mud wasn't from this hole, it came from one just about like it. Here's the proof that my dog is a championship digger. Yes, that's right...... that hole is 17" deep.

How delightful to hear from you all and see pictures, too!!

Shelley, I'm SO glad you and Eddie had a chance to meet and gab! You both look great, and happy to boot, and I'm sure the conversation was delightful! Can't beat that!

Glad to hear you got some rain in OKC finally. Keep us posted on the knee, too.

Judy! Lexie looks SO adorable. I know you're not happy about the digging, but she certainly looks like one happy dog. Don't be too hard on her; not her fault she gets bored and amuses herself, ya know. Dogs try hard to fit into our lives, but they're still dogs with doggie ideas and doggie needs. I was thinking that perhaps there's a Guiness Book of Records opportunity here <ducking>

Donna, so sorry to hear about your FIL having to have a bone scan. I do so hope that it isn't bone cancer--that's what took my Mom. Understandable that you'd be down with that news. Maybe the haircut (and a trip to Walmart with a hot credit card) will lift your spirits. By the way, good for you on your walking routine, you've been faithful and are getting great results! Congrats!

But good news on getting the basement clean out going again! Yea! I sure do know how great it feels to clean out.

Barb
, winging home tomorrow? Glad you've had such a lovely time, and in such a lovely place. Reality calls, though.

Alida, yea! Ashley likes the web site! Big "whew!" I imagine. I do hope you won't have too much trouble coming up with some kind of "fading" clip art. The cat sounds perfect, but hey, what can you do, right? Meanwhile, I hope that means we'll hear more from you. You asked about my proposed projects while DH is gone--I'd like to get the bathroom prepped for painting, but mainly I need to work on the stairs. Instead of wall to wall carpet on the stairs, I wanted to stain them and use a nice oriental runner. The treads and risers underneath the old carpet, though, were just thrown together and are going to be Heck on Wheels to make look decent. DH is betting I can't. HA!!

Peg, TB, hey California girls, hope all is well out your way. TB, I'm concerned that we haven't heard from you because of your back:( Hope all is well.

Rach, we're thinking of you!

Excess furniture GONE and wow, the downstairs looks so spacious now. There are still enough pieces to fully furnish the place, and but now they're not double parked

I have to admit to you all that I played hookie today. The last 2-3 days we've had the most astonishingly perfect weather here, unheard of in August (or most any time in the midwest). Today I gave in, packed a quick picnic lunch, a book, and the furkids and their gear, and took off to a lovely nature preserve. We spent several hours walking trails, reading under a tree, playing ball, watching birds and furry critters, and most of all enjoying life and each other. It may not be Colorado, but I'm pretty darn mellow this evening A day spent just being and not doing. A very good day indeed.

Good Morning!

I just had a wonderful laugh at Eddie's Journal. Everyone, Brenda's right. Go to Eddie's Journal and check out the photo essay. It's hilarious! It's a few pages back from the last page.

Judy, what a darling picture of Lexie. She's a little devil, isn't she? 17 inches is a darn big hole! I wonder if you can ever cure her of this habit. It's her "thing."

Brenda, what a lovely day you had! As for those stairs, they are hardwood at least, right? I mean, you're not thinking of turning plywood into a silk purse are you? An oriental runner sounds beautiful!

Shelley, as I mentioned above, Eddie's photo journal was a STITCH. You must have had such a wonderful time!

Good news on the eye feeling better. Now for that knee ....

Barb, safe trip home? No hassles? Waiting for delicious BBQ pictures!

Donna, good going on throwing out all that crap! Isn't it a wonderful feeling? Speaking of old childhood toys, my cousin called last night and we were talking about our old Madame Alexander dolls, which we both still have. We both had real wood furniture for the 8" dolls. My. That brought back memories! And pictures? I keep an old turkey that my granddaughter made and put it on the refrigerator every Thanksgiving. Ditto with a Christmas Tree at Christmas. Good thing that old popcorn didn't bring in BUGS!

Terry, HOW are YOU?

Peg, anxious to hear how the apartment (or house) hunting is going!

And Rachel, wherever you are: HI!

Below is a photo of the swan song for my "Glass Illusions" business. That's what I called the faux lead process. She loves the cabinets. Whew! Sure took long enough!

Hey! The web site is not quite finished yet. A lot of tweaking to do. But the design, layout and color selections are finally done, so that's a HUGE load off my back.

Donna, I'm so sorry you got that bad news about your FIL. BIG HUGS! I would say it's funny that they did not call to tell you and DH what was going on, but then I know a lot of older people who don't like to share bad news. My friend's daughter gets distraught when her parents withhold - she says, "at least, I could pray for you!".

Alida, those cabinets are knock down, flat out gorgeous! Is this something you could still do as a hobby, or did you sell all the tools and supplies?

Back pain is still draggin' me down, but my yoga teacher has been giving me some exercises -- good abs strengtheners if nothing else!

I have a couple of morning appointments, but I'll try to be back later.

Hi Gang!

Just got online for the first time. Flight was from hell. Security was just fine. Got through in three minutes. Felt like cattle in the airplane. Full plane. Not a seat to be had. Small aisles, made for people with no hips. Short seat coverage, made for "little" people. 5 hours in flight seemed interminable. But, i',m here and on CA time today. Going to look at apts today with bf. First a pedi and some shopping at my favorite store here. Nothing much to report. I've read back one page. Donna: I hope it isn't cancer. Shell: I'll read Eddie's journal when I get home. Bf has "dialup" and it's slow as molasses.

I'll get back soon.

Peace, Peg

Morning Gang.

Alida, those doors are WONDERFUL! Just, absolutely, positively beautiful! I'm so glad they owner took a picture and that you could share with us. So how are you feeling about not doing this any more, even though this particular project was a PITA?

Well, I'd say the stairs are "semi sow's ears." The treads are hardwood, but the risers are plain pine 2x4's. They don't meet each other or the trim boards nicely, either, so there will be a lot of wood filler and sanding involved :( However, if you think about it, with a runner only about 6 inches on each side needs to look really nice. Don't tell anyone, ok

TB,
oh no, so your back is still giving you trouble. I'm so sorry to hear that, but I thought that might be why we hadn't heard too much from you since you got back.

Later, kids!
