| NOT, Berta--that's my vote I've been up a while now. I'll drop DH off at the airport shuttle about 11:30 and head directly for a haircut. Meanwhile, he's had 2 conference calls and I shoved a scrambled egg and bacon through the door a couple of minutes ago. He won't have to take today as a vacation day, even though he has more than he usually uses. Barb, I'm sure your twin set is too pretty for army surplus pants--but the idea of a cute sweater set in camo tickled me. Of course, there are a couple of manufacturers making camo yarn now for knitters, so why not. Stylin'. So, good mornin' all, seeya later.

| Good morning, everyone. It's friday! Gotta love it when you only have to work half a day on a Friday. The motorhome is all packed, except for groceries we will buy in town and then we are on the road. The dogs got all excited last night when dh brought the motorhome to the front of the house. They wouldn't leave our sides. Barb: Yup, got everything done last night and did fit my walk in. Not as long as I would have liked (only 1 1/2 miles), but better than nothing. The calories might be burning but the scale doesn't show it. I have lost 1" on my hips though. I'll take it. The old fellow down the street was waiting for our talk again last night. I hate to not stop and talk to him, but it was almost dark by the time I finally got home. Brenda: Have you done much knitting lately? Haven't heard you talk about it. Maybe it's too hot? Shelley: Sorry about the knee. Geez, you sure haven't had much luck lately. Looks like your body is trying to tell you to slow down. You can still walk, but take it slower, maybe? Looks like it should be pamper time ahead! Now I have a problem. Remember I told you all that next weekend is my weekend to spend with my grandaughter and take her shopping for school clothes. We just got an invitation last night for a surprise anniversary garden party for dh's best friend. It's the same day! I refuse to give up my time with Micayla. We could take her to the party, but here's the problem. It's in town also. So, do I pick up Micayla and drive to town and get dh to meet us there later or drive all the way home and then drive back with him to the party? What do we do with the dogs and also you should know, that I'm night blind so I can't drive at night. What a mess! Dh said maybe we should just forget the party but I can't do that either. These are our best friends on the ballteam and it's their 25th anniversary. Any ideas? Gotta go and get something done if I'm leaving early. Need to pick up corn on the cob for the ballteam and some melons from the farm wagon on the way home and then stop at the Sears catalogue outlet for the order that should have been in on Tuesday and wasn't. Talk to you all on Monday after I get rid of the dirt that I'll accumulate from camping all weekend

| Donna, Don't your DH's parent live in town? You could all go in that morning, he could visit with his parents while you shop, then you would all be together to go to the party. You wouldn't have to make two trips or drive back at night by yourself. Speaking of driving........ I'm off for Dallas again tomorrow morning (by myself). Yesterday was DDad's 85th birthday. I'm going for a little late celebration. Later I'll try to post a picture of DDad and DD out to dinner last night. I got haircut today.....happy dance happy dance. The last one was at the end of May. Life got in the way and I had to cancel before school started. My wonderful hairdresser stayed late tonight to finally work me in. I just couldn't wait another week. She's scheduled 3-6 weeks out.

| Donna, could you incorporate the motorhome some way, since the pups are comfortable in there? Maybe DH driving it that day? Perhaps you could leave your car in town that evening, drive home with DH and pick up your car another day? Or everyone stays in town over night (big sleepover adverture for Micayla) in the motorhom and you both drive home the next day? Or some combination of Judy's idea, too? Ish, I'm bad at logistics..... Judy, bless you, another trip to Big D, but for a good cause. I'd love to see a picture of DDad and DD DH just called. He's made it to Orlando, although had to wait for baggage for an hour for no apparent reason. Now I'm off for a bubble bath, then jammies and a book.

| Ummm....checking in here late. I just knew I would be able to sit down for a while this morning and chat with ya'll...but, one thing led to another, and the day totally got away frome me. I really didn't get much accomplished either! Did make it to the gym for a 75 min session on the TM for 4.44 miles; only went to a 6% incline though :( However, I did STBO!!!! Hope everyone has a super week end. We are once again in the hot zone...105 today...ugh. Yesterday, we had a HUGE fire just off of I-35 between OKC and Dallas. I think they said that section of the interstate was closed for over 8 hours. What a mess. Anyhoo...I'm gonna follow Bren's idea...jammies and lights out...I'm frizzled Nite-all! Shell

| Morning has broken, as the song says. Apparently a lot of other things got broken overnight. There must have been a storm, because fairly large tree branches are lying on the ground. I didn't hear a thing. I got home late from the movie-watching group. We saw "Who Killed the Electric Car?" It's a really BORING documentary, although the information is good. Technology exists for a clean and cheap commuter car, but nobody wants it--including the consumers. Who's to blame? Everybody. Politicians, oil producers, car manufacturers, and US. I was feeling smug about my resolve to ride the bus more. I picked up schedules yesterday, and will start Monday. Workouts this morning, and a wedding this afternoon. DH is going with me, although he's not too happy about attending a wedding where he doesn't know anybody. I don't know anybody but the bride and groom--and perhaps a few colleagues who have also been invited. It will be a beautiful wedding, I'm sure, being held in a lovely country manor called Hawthorne. I'll wear the "Pretty Woman" dress I bought for the wedding this spring. Or did I call it a "Marilyn Monroe"? Either way, it's sexy and dancy. Donna, you already have some good suggestions on the logistics of your garden party. I'm sure you'll figure it out. The motorhome may be the key. I'm glad your walking schedule is working for you. Walking is good. Shelley, bet you can't wait for cooler weather so you can take your walking feet outdoors. TM is fine, but scenery is better. Hi there, BertaDott. I didn't know you were "local." If you're "out west" of KC, maybe Legends could be a gathering-place after all. Alida is already halfway. It's not exactly handy for anybody but the crows. Judy, the haircut will look good--and most of all, feel good. Have a good trip to Dallas, even though it will be sad to see your DDad in his diminished state. He will be glad to see YOU. My DDad, who can't see, persuaded his friend (the recent widower) to drive them both to Tasso's (my DH's Friday hangout) for lunch on Friday. That turned out great. A good outing for all the guys. I'll be back later. But if nobody else posts, that's a good thing. You're either too busy or too relaxed. |

| Whoops.......... never made it back to post the pic. Nothing like Taco Cabana and a grandkid to make for a good birthday party. DDad had been seeing ads on TV for some kind of new dish at TC and decided that was what he wanted. He loved it......... simple pleasures.

| Great picture, Judy Barb, up and at 'em early as usual. A wedding will be a fun dress-up occasion. Hope your DH enjoys it more than he thinks he will. Rats! DH's iPod was supposed to come Tuesday according to the tracking record, but guess what? They tried to deliver it this morning while I was gone. NOW, for some reason the next delivery attempt will be Tuesday......LOL!!!!!

| Hi, I finally got my Victoria pics sorted out. There were so many I uploaded them to KodakGallery.com and sent you all an invitation to view them. This is the first time I used the service, so I'm hoping it's a convenient way to go. here is my favorite pic - Inner Harbor Spirit Bear (that's my DSis and DF on the far right). Note: The Spirit Bears, each unique, are on display all over Victoria and in Vancouver, too.

The Inner Harbor area in Victoria is full of buskers (street muscians). I understand they have to audition for the city to get a license, and the competition is keen, so the talent level is way up there. Strolling along Wharf Steet and Government Street can be a full evening of entertainment for the price of a few loonies and twonnies tossed into their hats. Loonies are $1 coins stamped with the image of a loon. The $2 coins are called, of course, twonnies!

| Good morning! Yes, I am still alive. Lots to catch up on .... Hmm. Peg is the first name on my cheat sheet. We haven't heard from her. I hope all is going well and she has a great apartment or home to tell us about! Judy, the picture of your Dad and Daughter is wonderful! You will treasure that one, for sure. I had to laugh at your Idiot Story. Ha. Just when he thought he was getting away with something! Brenda, sorry you missed the IPod delivery. I hate it when that happens. It always seems to be a hassle. Guess you had to sign for it? I am sorta like Donna. I don't know anything about those IPods, but I am sure if I did, I would want one. Don't they run around $200 - 250? So you did get a butt crack view, eh? And speaking of that, our local paper did an article about construction workers. The guy they featured first looked sorta like that guy on the old coke commercial. Hunk. But good news that he was so careful! Perhaps when the next crew(s) come, they will see the neat hole and work accordingly. One can hope. Shelley, nuts on the knee. But we can pray that these next three weeks will see a BIG improvement. But didn't I read where your doctor said 5% incline and you did SIX? Or do I have my inclines mixed up? Nuts on the eye, too. Have you re-schedule that appt. you canceled with the eye doctor? We are getting a little respite from the heat. Are you still in the 100s? Barb, I was only at Legends once -- when I went to tint some windows at a Linens N Things, or maybe it was a BB&B. Or maybe even another store. How quickly one forgets! So it wasn't quite built up yet. Yanno, everything is getting so BIG. Nebraska Furniture Mart makes my hip hurt just thinking about it. Congrats on selling the car! That's a BIG item to cross off your to-do list. And more work being done to your home? You will have to give up your house-slug crown and give it to me. How was the wedding? ..... And are you going to post a picture from the BBQ Bash? Terry, Oh! Your pictures are positively beautiful! Thank you for sending me the Kodak-Share thingy. It worked really great. Tea in the garden, weddings, the scenery, the flowers .... all make me want to run to Victoria! How is your back doing? Getting better? Donna, you're camping this weekend and I know you are having a great time! As for your party weekend problem, whoever suggested the scenario of both you and your DH going to town together in the AM (using the motor home) makes sense. He can visit with (his folks?) while you take Micayla shopping. Then you can use the motor home to change and go to the party. If you don't want to lug the motor home, perhaps just your car and you can change at someone's home? I take it both Micayla and the party are in the same town? Are DH's parents in the same town, too? And Rachel, wherever you are -- thinking of you! ---------------------- Son Paul was in town for one day and he fixed: the leak under the furnace (clogged hose), leak under the sink (we thought it was the garbage disposal, but it was something else), leak in the main waste stack. This last was leaking where the old Culligan water softener thing was connected to the waste stack. So Paul disconnected the whole Culligan thing (TWO big tanks). Yea! Now I can list it on Criag's list and try to get someone to get it out of my basement! Tonight we take son Mark and family out to celebrate his 50th birthday. That will be fun. I tried to make reservations yesterday. I called (Cheesecake Factory) at 10:58 am. I ask to make a reservation. This young thing replies (speaking a mile a minute) that they only take reservations between 11 and 11:30. Well, I say, it's 10:58. Do I have to call back in two minutes? (Conference). No, she says, I can take your reservation now. Great! I'd like a reservation for tomorrow at 5:30. (Much garble). Upshot, after 5 minutes, the only time they will SEAT someone with a reservation is between 11 and 11:30. Very confusing. Have a great Sunday! XXOO

| Good morning--Alida and everyone! Alida, let's not wait for "perfect" before we get together again, okay? ![]() Teel, your pictures are fabulous! But...you're not IN any of them? Or is one of those ladies you, and I just missed it? You inspired me to create an album online for the first time--that Kodak site looked fairly simple, and it is. However, I don't have everybody's e-mail here at home, so notification will have to wait until Monday. Then you can see some BBQ pix. On the other hand, if you're enterprising, you might be able to access my RUB THIS album by poking around on the Kodak Gallery site. Your views of Victoria are delicious. Great close-up photos of flowers...and food. Talk about carbs! High tea takes the cake, as it were. No wonder I gained thirty pounds in the eight months I spent in New Zealand years ago. We had just one day in Victoria--a rainy, cold day--so we spent most of it in the excellent natural history museum. Next time...Burchart Gardens for sure. Thanks for sharing these beautiful, tempting pictures. The wedding was lovely. Everything perfect, including the weather. Speaking of weather, today might be cool enough for a nice long walk outdoors. I have to walk off some wedding cake. Okay, a BIG hunk of wedding cake.:o Judy, the picture of your dad and daughter is priceless. Shelley, hang in there with the knee. How's that eye coming along? Bren, one reason I'm resisting iPod is that I can barely cope with new technology. I don't even want to trade in my old cell phone. I just found out that I can get MS Office for MAC a lot cheaper than I thought (only 80 bucks at amazon.com) so I'm finally going to be able to send and receive documents from my home computer. The combination of being a tech dodo and a cheapskate really gets in my way sometimes. Have fun with your new toy.A peek at the newspaper, and then I'm off to church. I wonder if Peg is enjoying the church of the great outdoors in beautiful California? Love to all. |
