Hi guys,
Looks like Andrea is fixing the time on the server. My time appears to be correct at this time.
This is as good as it's going to get, most likely, so if you want to re-set your time, go to:
User CP (control panel) in the narrow blue stripe menu box at near the top of the page
then select:
Edit options
Then scroll down to near the bottom of the page and you'll see a drop down menu box will all time zones/selections.
This is where it gets trickey...
if you are in the CENTRAL time zone, pick GMT-9(Alaska time). Trust me....I know that sounds crazy, but it works.
If you are in a different time zone, 1 hr earlier, then you would choose the next one...GMT-8 etc. If you are on the *Left coast*, add the time difference from central time...GMT -5 I think will get it right.
If not...then play with it. But for now, central time equals GMT-9. Of course if the board goes haywire again, who knows which time zone will make it work....

good luck!
back later...

Good morning!

Actually, I am surprised the "I Lost My Post" post was posted! When I hit send, it took so long I just said "NUTS" and exited LCE.

And so it is December. Barb, you are really good at knowing your dates! How does the rest of that verse go? ......"All the rest have 31, except when Leap Year ...... I can't remember the rest!

I will do my best to recap (sigh):

Peg, did you go with the apron or the pillowcase?

Judy, thanks for the hug. Yup. I needed it! I think I made a smart comment about that picture you posted showing your DD's snow. HA. That was not snow. Barb's gorgeous picture shows SNOW. But then, I can understand the excitement when people get snow who usually don't.

Brenda, did you make it to your hair appointment? That is definitely a priority! I'd better not miss mine next week. It's full color and highlights. I am still and always amazed at your animal knowledge! Gosh, we have so many smart people on this thread!

Shelley, thank goodness for your 4WD! In my lost post, I had bet that some surgeries would be canceled!

Barb, gorgeous photo of your house! Yes indeedy, it is a picture-postcard house! Can't remember what I said to you yesterday, but it probably had to do with SNOW and ICE ......

Terry, how's everything going at your end?

Donna, how wonderful Sora was able to give you a kiss! I can imagine your panic when you could not wake her up. Poor thing must have been exhausted and was finally in a good, deep sleep. All the better to heal. And I don't blame you for not wanting to cart Sora around. After being at the vet for so long, I'll bet she just wants to STAY HOME!

Rachel, I know you said you were going to DC and out of touch for a while. I hope all is going well!

Heather, I am an ISFJ too! Although don't ask me to tell you what that means. Maybe Peg can clue me in! I do know that being alone is welcome after being in a crowd.

Sounds like you have your problem with your dear nephew sorta solved. Remember .... do not feel any guilt over this.

Berta, LOL. A coffee run. Just like Brenda, I totally understand!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day of my colonoscopy was the day it started to sleet. The next day, Thursday, I did not go in to work. That day the snow hit. But Friday morning I was all dressed and ready to have Bob drive me to work when Ashley called again and told me not to come because her street was so bad. But the sun was out doing its magic, so I was able to get there around noon. That was after the refrigerator repair guy was here. 279 dollars later, our refrigerator is working again, and the d*mn thing is only 4 and a half years old! The first CLUE was when Bob went to pour milk on his cereal and it was curdled. SIGH. This expense plus missing 2.5 days of work is a BUMMER. But I am lucky I have some work I can do at my computer at home to try to make up for some of those hours!
I did make 96 Coconut Oatmeal cookies and Henry's low carb chocolate/PB balls. Only about 6 more recipes to make! OH! Shelley, thank you for the recipe! I do have some Erythritol. I may try a batch with that.
Have a great safe and warm day! XXOO
OH! I forgot to mention ... I am still down 5 pounds from the day before my colonoscopy!! That test may have been my SWITCH. Now 15 more to go, LOL.
Hi guys,
It looks like Andrea has fixed the time on the board, but some of the posts will be out of order until a new day rolls around, or at least that's what I understand from her post to us. So, my afternoon post went above Alida's early morning post....very confusing, but hopefully after the clock rolls around past midnight all will be well.
Alida...sorry you are having fridge problems. Don't they always happen at the most inopportune times? Good for Ashley for calling you to stay home yesterday. Like I said, there is more to our Friday than I can say, but if we ever end up in this situation again, I will NOT risk body and auto to get to work.
Barb...YAY...you little techie detective you!!! Glad you figured out your problem. Did you get your new power cord today as planned? I don't know that I would set foot in a computer store this time of year, but if ya gotta, ya gotta
Bren...did you retrieve your sweetie as planned? Hope he had a good trip. Ratz on missing the haircut appt, but after battling the elements yesterday, I'd say you absolutely made the right decision by staying home. Hopefully your stylist can rechedule you soon.
Donna...man, how scarry with Sora's spell the other night. Gosh. If TLC would do the trick to heal her and make her well, then she's getting lots and lots thanks to you,
I know from when our Fu kitty was so sick, you adapt and work your schedule around their needs, just like you would for REAL kids. Hoping each day brings improvements for Sora.
Peg....dahh-ling....whatcha doin'? I SO thought of you during the first night of our winter storm. We had *thunder sleet*. Was a weird occurance for sure. Huge claps of thunder, then the house was pelted with sleet. Umm...BIG WEATHER for sure LOL!
Judy...have you guys *defrosted* yet? We were up in the mid 30's today and had lots of melting, but it will re-freeze tonight, and the roads will once again have black ice...ack!
Did I ever tell you guys about my head on car wreck on an icy bridge my first year away at college? I'm pretty sure that's why I don't do iced over roads so well....duh!...ya think??? Shorten version....the outcome would have probably been worse if all the cars involved had been going any faster than 30mph. Luckily, everyone had slowed down before we started the *bumper car chain reaction*...oye!
Anyhooo...ice spooks me on the B&O's(bridges and overpasses).
Rach...you must be singing....
Bert...did ya finally get the rent house finished? You sure have been putting in some hours on that project, bless your heart. I don't know that I would be that detailed, knowing that it could possibly be *abused* again. If I may ask, do you require your renters to pay an up front cleaning deposit? Whatever it is, you should DOUBLE it, girl!!! You're working to hard!!! Gracious!
Heather...whatcha doin' on this cold, blustery weekend? What part of Montana are you in? You guys certainly get the cold weather there, that's for sure! Is the nephew sitting problem all resolved? Hope so
Teel...how are you? I don't think we've heard from you for a day or so?? Maybe I missed your post?? Sorry if I did. Sometimes I totally get tunnel vision and just go down the railroad track of life at full speed and not pay attention to other things; boy I hate it when I realize I'm doing that! A person can miss out on some important tidbits...LOL! Anyway...hope your classes are all going well.
Well....I think I'll probably win the SLUG award for the day. I went for my manicure this morning, and that's about all I've done. I did unload the dishwasher...woo...watch me go!!! LOL. It was sunny but still pretty nippy, the roads were a mess, all slushy and wet, so no walking outdoors, so I vegged out and watched hgtv and played computer games.
Tomorrow morning I'll go grocery shopping, then finish wrapping a few presents. Next week will once again be crazy at work, and I really don't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet..but soon! Counting down the days until Jan 1st...then I'll be part time...woo hoo! I've really missed my sewing and applique, and I'm thinking I'll start a new afgan...if I can remember how to read the darn pattern, it's been so dang long since I've crocheted.
Well...to avoid the day being a total loss, I think I will iron my scrubs tonight so I won't be stuck doing that tomorrow
(((hugs and love to all)))
later, chickadees!
Alida! Woohoo at whatever flips the switch!!!!
Jerry's on the shuttle bus from O'Hare as we speak, so I'd better get out of my jammies, wash my hair and get ready to pick him up on this absolutely gorgeous winter day. Wish the snow would stay this white and beautiful all winter.
Nope, didn't get the haircut. My street didn't get plowed until about an hour after I should have been there. I may be SOL until next MONTH!
Alida, bummer on the refrigerator!!! Appliances used to last 20 years....
Hi, galpals. It's Saturday afternoon, and I'm writing from my office. Yesterday evening, right in the middle of my latest dispatch to you, my computer screen went dark. Couldn't wake it up. Couldn't turn it on or off. Couldn't insert a Diagnostic disk. I am going NUTS!!! Later (after going out to an event and back) I had the idea that the power cord wasn't working, and the battery had run out. I plugged it into several outlets, but the little green light never went on.
So I brought the computer to the office today, where I have an identical Powerbook with an identical power cord. VOILA! I was right. My home Powerbook is now sucking up juice and recharging, as I write this on my office machine. My next stop will be the MAC store.
Boy, I'm sure glad that was easy. On the other hand, I did learn than my MAC service contract isn't up until next March. So...except for the panic, all's well that ends well.
While I'm down here, I'll go across the street to check out the Grand Opening of the Liberty Memorial World War I museum. As I may have mentioned, my office window overlooks its magnificent tower, with the sphinxes at the base. I can see the flags flying and the people walking around. This is where my dad's memorial stone is placed in the Walk of Honor.
I had a fabulous day yesterday--working at my little projects. When I get home with the new power cord, I'll send you the message I already wrote about that,
and other things.
Meanwhile, big sigh of relief from this little corner of the frozen earth.
Be back with you later!
Good Sunday Morning!
Barb -- ACK. Thank goodness your problem was easily solved. See ... you are a bit of a geek to even figure out what the problem was!
I had forgotten that this weekend was the big opening of the WW1 Museum. When things calm down a little, the museum is on my list for a definite visit. I saw a promo on one of the local shows about it. Sounds like they really went first class.
Brenda, yup. The switch is flipped. Down another pound today -- even though I baked cookies all day yesterday! The weight loss is quick right now because I have done two things: omitted cream from my coffee and NO BARS. Even though I was sorta low carb, the calories I was consuming must have been astronomical. DUH. Once my body settles down, the hard part will start.
Ah. Jerry is back home! I'll bet all's right with your world.
Yesterday I made Spritz, chocolate covered peanuts and a low carb Almond cookie. Not too bad. However, one of the problems with LC cookies seems to be sweetness. They never seem sweet enough. In the batch I made, I even added about 10 drops of liquid splenda and sprinkled the tops with some packet Splenda. That helped, but they still don't have the sweetness of a real cookie. At least it's something to munch on.
Today I am going to make real Pralines. (Terry - yes - that recipe)! This will be a true test of my willpower. I will also make some LC macaroons and give Shelley's nuts a try.
When I was stocking up at Netrition, I bought some coconut FLOUR. Now, with major CRS, I don't remember what I was going to use it for!
The last few days the sun has done major magic. Except for a lump of snow where our driveway meets the street, all the snow and ice is gone from our driveway and street. Whew!
Yesterday I also finished re-arranging the guest bedroom. I removed a corner desk that was flanked by a dresser and small chest and put in a chair with a round table. This is my old teen furniture. It's 45 years old but still looks good. Only problem is, it's yellow. Oh well. We call it "The Yellow Room." Duh. I'll try to get a picture today and post it.
Have a great Sunday .... and, GO CHIEFS!
Shell, I missed your post because of the time thingy. Hooray!! I changed my time in the user CP and voila! It now exactly matches my computer time. And I did use Alaska's time (GMT-9). That's weird, but at least it works!
Yanno, I sorta kinda had the same thing happen to me. I had just been driving for a few months and was driving down a hill. I skidded on some ice and plowed into a chain link fence. No other cars were involved, but for a few seconds I was in the other lane with cars coming at me before I swerved back into my lane and the fence. WHEW. I have to agree with you about bridges and overpasses!
Good morning, my dears. Whew. I can't even tell you how weird (and bad) it felt not being able to fire up my e-mail yesterday morning. I woke up in the middle of the night, and couldn't go back to sleep. So I got up, played with dolls for a while, watched a movie (Charlton Heston and Eleanor Parker in The Naked Jungle which horrified me when I was a child--I remember it so well!), and finished the thriller I started weeks ago. Y'know, between not sleeping and not chatting on the computer, you can get a lot done.
The Liberty Memorial World War I Museum is a stunning experience. If you can possibly get there, you must see it. I bought a membership for my dh so that he can go as many times as he wants to, because he will want to study everything there.
I don't understand all this baking with REAL stuff. That would be beyond my powers of resistance for sure. Yesterday I made an LC Lime Pie, and I have a hard time limiting myself to one piece a day. Alida, you might try using Stevia in your cookies and other baking. It's super-sweet, and a little goes a long way. Good for you about keeping on the losing track though. I think it might be those BARS, not the cream, that's been holding you back.
I'll be back later to see what everyone's up to. Love ya!
Good Mornin' I sure understand how much you can get done without access to a computer, or I think I do... I certainly spend more time than I should e-mailing, surfing and playing games. My reading as sure taken a back seat.
The rental house is nearly done.. just need to mop kitchen floor and still have the hole in the bedroom door where they slammed the door into the wall and the door knob knocked a hole in it. I really haven't worked that hard .. had a break with dd & family, bunko etc etc and the snow storm as sure stopped me from going down the block where the house is.
Alida, I am so glad you are still dropping weight, I know how good that must make you feel. You have more willpower than I do, I could not do all that cooking without eating 1/2 of it. That's what happened to be last year. I baked cookies for everybody and I'm still wearing them on my hips.. you know once past the lips..
Shelley... great you will be semi-retired next month... part time will be wonderful. Then you will wonder how you ever worked full time and accomplished so much.
Judy.. is it warmer yet in TX?
Donna.. how is little Sora?? hope she is better..
Last night was so much fun. DH was Santa for the Royal Neighbor's Christmas party. He is just wonderful with children. The kids really enjoy him. Good thing I was there to help poor old Santa... you know he's been around for a long time and he was pretty short of breath before he was dressed.. but we got 'er done and he was great.
Yesterday was clean up the desk and I ran across records from summer of 05 when my weight was lower.. mmmmm was walking 2.5 miles a day and working out in the gym.. no wonder the weight won't drop off... that's my whine for today.
BOOMER SOONERS-- rah rah rah:jumpgreen
BTW, when I checked my CP for time options, I realized I didn't have the whole story on smilies, etc. Now I can see them--off to the right there. I'll try to restrain myself.
Morning All!!!
Yup, retrieved DH just fine. His plane was only a half hour late, and that was from waiting on the runway for a gate. Now I am contemplating the utter horror of having to wait until January for my haircut, since Kim is taking two weeks off over the holidays and is already overbooked. If I wait, this will be the first time I've had "roots." HORRORS, LOL!!!
We've made the decision not to exchange presents at our house this year to honor the spirit of the season. (However, we will still have a "Doggy Christmas" since the girls do so enjoy ripping open packages of toys, balls and treats. Don't tell them I sometimes recycle the toys just so they'll get lots of unwrapping joy.
Alida, woohoo on continuing the loss, especially in the face of major cookie baking. Let's see, coconut flour? I don't know what you'd intended it for, but I use it as a flour sub when breading and also as a fiber helper/thickener in protein drinks. I also use it when making a breakfast pancakey thingie. It would be a nice fiber addition to your new colon care regime, I think. I've been really, really liking acacia powder as a fiber helper, too. It thickens some but doesn't get slimey like psyllium and I can add it to other things, as well. Unfortunately it seems to be a hfs item--Heather's Tummy Fiber. But I am totally liking it. I'd love to see your new room arrangement!
Barb, I'd be crazy, too, without access to a pc. Major congrats on diagnosing the problem!!!! Sorry you couldn't sleep, but indeed, it sound like you've been accomplishing quite a bit instead. Also, catching up from last month, you looked wonderful in the Dana Buchman! And a very handsome man by your side, too Ya know, I thought your non-use of smilies was a conscious choice. When a person writes as well as you do, they don't need as much help with the meaning and mood that smilies provide. Still, they can be quite fun and expressive
Shell, how nice to get a long post from you--a weekend phenomenon with your busy schedule, I know! I do understand about your ice driving fears. Like Alida, I've had a close call, and also one that wasn't. Yup, no job is worth that much danger.
Bert, hey glad to hear you are almost finished with the rental. Whew! Now I'll be wishing you MAJOR success in finding honest, responsible, long-term tenants. Gosh, I am glad your DH was able to get suited up. It sounds as though he really was rewarded by being able to play Santa. No doubt the kids were enchanted!!! Those are lovely moments, aren't they?
Donna, thinking of you and Sora.
Rach, I didn't thank you for the nice long post updating us in late November!
Peg, TB, Heather, Judy, where are you, galpals?
WOOHOO, the clock on the board is PERFECT, now.
Barb, I forgot to mention this one. Background: The sister and bil of a friend of mine in Toledo were the victims of a broad day light attack at a cemetary. The attacker slashed them both and stole the sister's purse--thank goodness the wounds were superficial, they will be just fine, and the attacker was apprehended within 24 hours. Also thankfully, my friend and her family have a wicked sense of humor. This is what she emailed me (quoted with permission):
Quote:
My sister and bil are getting a ton of cards now! We laugh that hallmark doesn't have a big selection of "Sorry to hear you were STABBED and ROBBED" section! lol I think hallmarks missing the boat on this one, in my opinion! lol I tell ya, it doesn't take much for our family to turn to the humor...lol
I'm sure you get a lot of this kind of thing, but I had to laugh!
