Hi guys,
Short, but sweet visit...LOL
We made it all the way to 54 degrees today...talk about melting! But...our driveway still has about a quarter inch thick sheet of ice on it! It's the result of a northerly facing house...aarrghh!
Work is crazy busy, so I won't even go there. A bright spot for me there is, I may get to be off Friday as my *day off*, so an unexpected 3 day weekend...I'll sure take it!!!

random thoughts...
Peg...yay for your dgd1! Good job!! I bet she will want to do many projects with her Nana!

Judy...hey...thanks for pulling for our Sooners! I don't know that they will win their bowl game, but with so many obstacles to overcome, I think they are a pretty scrappy bunch...LOL. Tech gets to go *bowling* also, don't they?

Bren...how was that buffalo burger? Hope you had a terrific time with your friend.

Alida and Barb...Are you guys defrosting a bit? Barb, I meant to comment on your pretty house. Gingerbread, picture perfect, I'd say!

Bert and Heather, I got your info...thanks very much. I will send the new list soon.

Donna...oh, dear...sorry to hear Sora is still not eating. She may still be very nauseated, perhaps? Did you say one of her meds is an anti-nausea med/acid reducer? Our Fu kitty responded pretty well to Reglan when she was having issues with feline diabetes and would have bouts of N&V(nausea and vomiting). Hope Sora's appetite returns soon.

Teel...thanks for stopping by my journal! I think my addiction(to chocolate) is one that no one likes to talk about...har! Seriously....no, seriously. It's my *drug of choice* for many things. This is a subject that we might discuss in more depth sometimes. But for now, I'm trying to do this holiday season *in moderation*. I don't expect to chalk up any losses :( I'll just be tickled pink if I don't gain more than 3-5 lbs.

Rach....betcha you are one busy galpal these days! We miss ya!

OK...off to get things ready for a marathon work day tomorrow. It will be early and it will be long....so I anticipate a crash landing tomorrow evening...LOL.

Over and out!

later, chickadees!

No, I have not "left the building." It's the week before final exams and the crisis on the part of many students has led to long long hours on my part. At 4:30 this afternoon I had a dad sitting in my room with his kid to find out what she needed to do to complete a test substitution grade so that she will be able to pass the course. She had been there working since 2:00. It has been dark both days this week before I left school.

I'm still trying to stay up by reading, and I promise to check in with something longer soon. (Humm, that sounds like a familiar tune since school started.) For right now, I'm going to take a Tylenol PM and see how much of Boston Legal I can catch before it kicks in.

Hugs to all.

Good night folks! Just popping in for a moment before DH jumps on to do some work.

Shelley - No problemo

Lucky! We're getting a high of 34 degrees tomorrow.

Judy - It's nice to see a dad at the school looking after his daughter and her grades. It seems like most of the dad's I know don't want to take any part in their children's lives. Guess I need to surround myself with more positive people - lol.

Have a good relaxing time watching Boston Legal.

Alida, you there? I can hear her little keyboard all the way across town.

Judy, good to hear from you. I can hardly wait for December 21--and the beginning of longer days. I hate going to work and back in the dark, and I'm glad that with my current choice of hours, I can leave at about 4:00.

"Test substitution" grade? I realize that some kids have a tough time with tests, and today's "no child left behind" milieu requires teachers to provide every opportunity. Still, I'm impatient with students who want me to provide--and grade--"extra credit" material when they obviously didn't bother to learn the stuff in the curriculum in the first place. There's a reason I didn't grow up to be a full-time teacher. Saving my sanity is one. You seem to stay not only extremely sane, but totally devoted, and I admire that tremendously!

Shelley, speaking of sane, hope your "crazy busy" week goes well anyway. A day off Friday would be nice. I'm looking forward to mine, although it looks like it will be partly occupied with Dad activities, like a trip to the Wal-Mart.

Cycle class this morning, but I'll be taking it easy. The depletion of a few red blood cells does make a difference you can feel in a workout. I went to Body Blast after work yesterday, but took it easy on the weights and the reps. That class is getting big--we run out of equipment for latecomers. And it's likely to get worse after the first of the year, when people's New Year's resolutions kick in.

Wednesday already. Have a good everybody.

Good Hump Day Morning!

Barb - keys are clacking a little late this am. I slept until 5:30. I am also down another half pound!

Hmmm. Brenda may have a good idea about just the roots. As long as we can buy the right color, I think that would work! Maybe I can do a root job and let my stylist do the next color with the highlights. I get my hair colored every 10 weeks ($100). The highlights are done every other time ($125). My hair cut, every 5 weeks, is $45. That hair cut cost is included in the above color costs. It is my biggest expense!

UNICEF has been around a long time! I remember it being formed when I was young. I think a few Halloweens were spent collecting for UNICEF. CRS!

1800 calories does seem high -- but if only once in a while, it can't hurt that much. Barb, you do so much exercise -- I am sure you must burn off more than you realize. PLUS, those calories are all healthy calories .... don't forget that. And now we know the wine is healthy, too!

I'd donate blood if it were convenient. Wouldn't know where to go! I know there is a blood bank on Main & 40th (?). But that's not exactly convenient.

Peg, your DGD pillows are precious! Seems like she will be a natural if she can sew a straight seem right at the start!

I laughed at your description of walking like at old woman yet .... looking MAHvelous! Priorities, yanno. But I am sorry you were in pain. Does the pain lessen a little after you walk a while?

Judy, I agree with everyone. You are simply a super teacher! If I recall, you teach seniors, right? Then passing a course is even more important. There's really no time left for make-up.

Brenda, nuts. Your post is not showing up ... it was too far back. So, I can't remember what you wrote about! Ah, roots. Perhaps she will give you the recipe for the color and you can have another salon do it?

Donna, I totally understand your frustration. I got to that point with Buddy too, when he wouldn't eat all his food and get all the medicine in him. Did you try Teel's reflex trick?

I am not sure I understand about your son. Didn't he realize that when you said "Me too," that you meant you loved him too? What -- did he think you meant you loved yourself too? AARRGGGHHH.

Yikes. It's almost 6:30. I really fell rushed when I get up so late.

So everyone I didn't mention -- HI!

Quickly -- I really don't understand what's happening. Every morning my ketostix is dark purple. When I was on OWL, that never happened. Of course, I am not looking a gift horse in the mouth right now! The weight loss progress is feeding itself. I am eating my regular LC B, L & D. The only difference is no cream and no bars. I am enjoying two of my LC cookies every evening and yesterday I did not get in all my water --- yet I was down a half pound this AM. I am also going lighter on the blue cheese. Whatever. It's working for now.

Have a great day! XXOO

Berta, Shelley told me that adjusting the pixels to 400 x 400 works--and it did for me. That makes most of my shots 300 x 400 proportionately, and the site seems to accept them at that size.

Alida, I wonder if those bars were really setting you back? A lot of people have said they are stallers. In any case, whatever you're doing, keep doing it! My ketostix are rarely more than very light pink. I think my body is just a darned efficient storage unit. I DO workout a lot, and I'm sure that keeps me strong, heart-healthy, and much more metabolically active than I would be otherwise.

It's a beautiful day outside today. A skate would be nice. TTFN

Good morning ladies. I'm in a better frame of mind this morning, even though the scale didn't like me....again.

Alida: Now that I think about it...my son had it wrong. I didn't say "me too", what I said was "you too". The more I think about it, the madder I get. And you guys are right....she had no right to e-mail me and tell me to tell my son that I love him. She should be spending more time with her own kids and leave me and mine alone. Although, in the next sentence she thanked me for raising such a wonderful man. I still haven't answered her e-mail....letting myself cool down a little before my fingers say something that my mind knows I shouldn't.

Way to go on the 1/2 lb. loss. I've got to get myself going again too. Now, 10 pounds over goal. Talk about frustrating. The only thing I can think of is that with this weather I haven't been getting much exercise.

Teel: I did try the reflex thingy with Sora. You have to picture her little face though. These dogs have a tiny little button nose that is right between their eyes. Have to be so careful not to get too much on their nose or they will sniff it right up and into their lungs. She is getting very hungry I can tell....trying to find little scraps of cat food etc. on the floor. Last night I did get about 1/2 cup baby food into her. Today is the check-up day at the vet. We'll see what he has to say. Wanna bet that he just tells me she's spoiled? Oh, the beef jerky yesterday? She hid most of it around the office, but by the time we went home I think she'd found most of it and ate it!

Bert: I had a heck of a time posting pictures too. Shelley is really good at it and knows the pixel sizes.

Heather: I bet your kids are getting really excited about Christmas. I miss the little ones and their excitement.

Judy: Now that's really getting into the Christmas spirit. I'm thinking that you're glad they aren't your neighbours.

You are such a committed teacher! In our area, the teachers are gone before most of the kids have gotten on the school busses.

The guys have been working like crazy on the water for me. The machines are right outside my window making all kinds of noise that is like music to my ears. Maybe by the end of the week I will have running water? (actually, when I look out....they are busy clearing the snow from our parking spots....come on guys, I'll wade through the snow, just get me water!!!)

Brenda: How did the yarn shopping go? I was just telling dh last night that I'm going to have to make another afghan. The one that I made last year has been taken over by Sora. When she started the shivering when she was sick I started wrapping her up in it. Now, she thinks it's hers. So, I'm going to have to make her one for the car so I can have mine back. What we don't do for our furkids!

Shelley: Humpday today! See, you'll make it through the week. Poor kid...you work much too hard.

***
Yesterday before I went to work I threw the makings for a stew into the slowcooker for dh. I hate stew with a passion so I made myself a nice salad for dinner. Didn't go overboard with anything I ate....and I gained 1/2 lb. Can't figure this out. I'm into the dreaded 160's now. But, the stupid thing is that none of my clothes are getting tighter. I know....push the water....but easier said than done when I'm at work and I have no water for the toilet besides what I bring in, in big jugs. I can only carry so many of those. Okay, that's my excuses for the day.

I finally had a good sleep last night. Maaannnn, what a difference it makes. It's been weeks since I've actually slept through the night. I was getting pretty wiped. I even looked for Tylenol PM here in Canada and couldn't find it. Is it behind the counter maybe? Anyway, I fell asleep in front of the tv a couple of times and decided enough was enough and went to bed. I'm sure you can by my post today that I'm a much happier camper today! Sleep does wonders for you!!!

Okay, it's time for some work. Then off to the vet at 11:30. Oh, dd has another dentist appointment today and after that one....just one more. It's taken a year, but the work is almost complete....and my commitment to pay for it for her. She's on her own as far as her teeth go from now on. (yeah, right mom!)

Okay, you guys are going to think I'm nuts. Around 11 this morning, I told Sora that I was going to tattle on her to the vet and tell him that she refuses to eat. Yes, I talk to my pets like they are human. lol Anyway, five minutes before we were leaving she shoved her face into the bowl and started chowing down. Couldn't believe it! What a relief.

I wasn't impressed with our vet visit. It wasn't Quinn, the new vet who operated on Sora. It was the retired vet filling in for him. All the questions I asked, he didn't have an answer. Then he told me that the liver won't regenerate and she will be borderline well the rest of her life. That was when I knew he was nuts! I can distrinctly remember Quinn telling me that the liver will regenerate and in time it will be good as knew. When I asked if she should stay on the thyroid pills his answer was "might as well if you have them". Grrrrr. This is the vet that will tell you that he really doesn't like to work on small animals. Good thing he retired. As we were going to leave he said to Sora "can I pat you". That was when it dawned on me.....he's scared of the little ones!! Here was this little dog that was so scared she was shaking and her face was stuck in my armpit as she was trying to climb up the front of me. And, he was afraid to pat her!!! Lily gets her next set of shots this month so I'll make sure I have the appointment with Quinn and I'll get some answers then.

Anyway, it looks like the worse is over and Sora is finally eating....so all is well in my world!!

random thoughts...scattered as they may be...LOL.

Judy...hiliarious pic...but I think I've seen some similar decorations in OOOOklahoma!
good taste is never out of style, eh???....hehehehe

Bert...go into your photo editing program, make a *copy* of the pic you want to work with, then on the copy, reduce it to about 300-400 pixels, then try to upload. If you can't get it to upload, email the pic to me and I'll re-size it and post it for you, OK?

Donna...big sigh of relief for Sora girl, and a big pat on the back to you, the fur girl mom, for taking such good care of her! Good job!

This is how fast things change...when I left work, I understood I would be working tomorrow and have Friday off. In the 30 minutes it took me to drive home, there was a message waiting on my machine from the boss that she had made a mistake, and I am scheduled off TOMORROW(Thurs) instead of Friday now. D@mn! I had already made plans for Friday. Again...more to the story than I can go into, but I'm really pi$$ed...ack!!!

Oh well...life goes on, doesn't it?

Am about to crash land....
over and out!

(((hugs to all)))
