Good Morning!

Quickie this AM ...

Berta, sounds like we do the same thing re: hair color. Streaks first then color (lighter ash brown). My natural dark brown hair with auburn highlights has turned a muddy darker yucky brown with lots of grey. Hair hasn't seen natural color in about 25 years!

That cab sounds fabulous. I am surprised it never sold. Maybe because it's 8 feet tall and maybe a smidge too high for most kitchens?

Barbara: Cowpies and What's My Line!!!! My, you are a celebrity! At the next convergence, you will HAVE to bring that video! BTW, I imagine your line was "writing cards for Hallmark." Si or no?

And what a wonderful event for your church to host .... giving and wrapping gifts for parents who cannot afford Christmas for their children. I'll bet that was a lot of fun.

Actually, I didn't do a cowpie. I did more of the Gibson Girl look. And was NEVER blond, unless you want to call my streaks blond!

Brenda, YIKES. DH home all that time? Better make a Honey Do List!

Heather, of course, you and your DH can do whatever, but everyone has pretty much summed up the blond problem. Blond (bleached) streaks sounds like a good first step, though. Pictures would be FUN to see!

Well, if anyone wants to try that Colonoscopy Fast -- black coffee, diet 7-Up (with Splenda), water, jello (I went ahead and made regular sugar-free jello with aspartame), and Swansons Beef Broth. Amazingly, I was not hungry. Probably because it was practically ZERO carbs. For one day, it can't hurt!

Yesterday was a banner day. Got most of my shopping done and just about finished the baking. Still have cards to do. After the game (GO CHIEFS), Bob and I will go out for the last of the gifts. I am still waiting on my Sister's List -- but that's usually all on-line ordering. And, of course, because she always sends it to me way late, a lot of her choices are out-of-stock. Sigh. Never changes.

Have a great Sunday! XXOO

I'm back to bring you your heartwarmer for the day. A member of my church, David Warm, and his daughter Mary, who has Down Syndrome, participated in the NPR StoryCorp project. Their recorded "interview" with each other was featured nationally on Friday, and can be heard Here via NPR online. The Warm Family are beautiful people, one and all.

I should probably find a way to put that What's My Line? video on youTube. Yes, I was a card writer then, as now, but they never guessed, so I walked away with the big prize of $50--plus the wig, a chenille bedspread in the ghastliest shade of bright yellow you can imagine, and a really great story to tell for the rest of my life.

I did the Gibson Girl, too. Ratted my hair all around, and then gathered it up into a knot at the top, so it was pouffy. Add the floor-length dress with the leg-o'-mutton sleeves, and you've got the 70s style nailed. Aack!

Berta, my dh is 13 yrs older, has been "retired" for 30 years. We are both in excellent health--a state I achieve by hard work and sensible eating, and he achieves by the grace of God. Whatever works.

Guess I'll watch the Chiefs. I've run out of closets to clean--closets that aren't his, that is.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Hi guys!

Gee, you all so far have summed up my feelings about excessive togetherness. I DO think I'll have to get a job or a few more time-consuming activities when Jerry retires.

Alida, a honey-do list doesn't cut any ice with DH unfortunately--he can ignore one with the best of them. I think I will just have to set some boundaries about his following me around and trying to "give advice" (read "control") on everything I do around here. For example, he criticized my packing of a box I was mailing Friday and had to show me how to do it better---oh come on! The man is good at a lot of things, but there are some things that don't need to be "perfect." LOL!

I awoke with a headache this morning (not a migraine) and now I'm dizzy and queasy. I'm sure hoping this is not the start of something worse. Meanwhile, I'm taking it easy (except for vacuuming) although I wanted to get some cards out today, too.

Barb, Addy is a sweetheart, and I'll certainly listen to the Warm family a bit later.
Alida and Barb, enjoy the game. I'll root for the Chiefs, too.
Alida, congrats on getting most of your holiday necessities done already. Good job.

Barb, I'd love to see that video, myself

Bert, sounds as if you have an active life. How was the open house?

Shell, Rach, Donna, Heather, Judy, Peg, many hugs...

Hi guys, I know I've been MIA for a few days, but it couldn't be helped. Just got mega busy at work and home and no time for myself.

Alida: I'm not sure if voting off Jonathon did those guys any good or not. I keep asking myself why they don't get together and vote Yul out. I know he has the idol, but if they vote him out, then he has to hand it over. Then he's equal to the rest of them. As long as it's in his possession, he's going to take it to the end. Just MHO.

7 pounds!! Woohee!! Good for you!

Barb: I also die my eyebrows. I got a closeup in the mirror at work one day where I have better lighting in the bathroom and just about died when I saw all the grey in them. Came home that night and did the job.

Heather: Well, it's Sunday and we're all "dying" to hear what happened with your hair! And, how was the show?

Brenda: Had to break down and buy some more wool so I could make another afghan to throw over the back of my chair in the front room. Sora has definitely taken over the old one. Dogs can be just like children when it comes to "owning" something.

All you guys talking about having your dh's retiring and being around you too much, and I'd love to have mine stay home for a change. lol Yesterday he had off, but just had to run up to our store for a minute....got home 7 hours later! I'm used to it though and keep myself busy. Today, he's off to play darts.

Last night we went to a black-tie affair at the Legion. They had a catered dinner and everyone was in their finery. It felt good to dress up for a change, although it was a fight to get dh out of his sweatshirt. lol I was really disappointed in the dinner that was cold. Nothing like cold green beans to get you all excited. I had to pass on a lot of things that weren't lc....but no passing on the chocolate cheesecake. Come on!! You wouldn't have left it sitting there either! I had to stop at 2 drinks also, cause I got the usual burning in my stomach ....darned if I don't think I have an ulcer.

Sora is back to her old self now. We've been out walking the last 2 days seeing as it's warmed up now and most of the snow has melted. Can't stay out too long though cause he poor bare tummy gets a little cold.

I've spent the last 2 days in the kitchen baking up a storm and I'm not even half finished. But, the presents are bought and wrapped and the cards are done. My feet hurt from all the standing that I'm not used too, and I'm really tired. Still not sleeping well.

The good news....I have water at work. Mannnnn, what a treat to be able to wash my hands. And to flush....well, that was just heaven. No more hauling water, if I'm lucky!

You know guys, I think it's nap time. And well deserved too....talk to you all tomorrow.

YO, Donna! Great to hear you finally have running water and that Sora is making such a great recovery! Wow, I was so worried for her. And, indeed, lady - you certainly do deserve a nap after all that!

DH and I made a major dent in the Xmas list today. We had a nice time; he was in an unusually good mood for shopping.

Barb, I think I was in lurk mode when you posted the picture of your house. I ADORE it!

Okay, going to rinse out my hair now. Hope it turns out good! I?ll let you know after it dries.

Teel - oops, I?m on the computer right now dying my hair as we speak. I?ve been peeking at it and it doesn?t seem to be changing at all.

Let?s hope.

Barb - Today is the day! I totally forgot I was going to do the test strand and it?s completely covered now. I?ve got a few minutes for it to finish before I rinse it out and see the finished results. It?s been a long day so that?s my excuse for forgetting something as important as the test strand.

I?m not sure if the military will help him. DH and him haven?t hung out in a few years actually so I?m hoping we run into him around town. Sad divorce is, especially when little children are involved. Wow, their little girl must be 4 years old now.

You know Barb, I have my own room too! My dh loves asian items so I?ve made up the house (from garage sale expeditions) the best I can the way he likes. I love country style so I turned the kitchen into my own little area. We even have an asian curtain hanging up in the kitchen door so that you can?t see inside. One day I?ll have to take a pic of my little area for you too. I just love your doll?s! We?re alike in so many ways. Have fun at church (another way we?re alike ).

Berta - You do Red Hat?s! I think I knew that but forgot. I?ve seen those ladies at luncheons and they always look so pretty in their hats. What a fun group. I met a lady who attended one of these groups and she did her nails to match her red hat outfits and she had the most beautiful blonde hair. She said, "eat your heart out girls" when she looked at her nails. She mentioned that she was in her 60's and I was floored! I told her her dh must feel so proud to have such a beautiful wife.

Open houses! Have fun!

Alida - 4 minutes left to see the results of my hair dye! I?m a bit nervous. I don?t have a hair dryer so I?ll have to wait an hour before seeing real results. I?ll post as soon as I know.

I just love the colonscopy diet. Might try it next Saturday actually just to throw up my metabolism a bit. Like to keep it guessing. How much water did you end up drinking that day?

BC - hugs to you too.

Donna - Deja Vu was a good movie!! I was not looking forward to it but glad that we went. I thought it was going to be a typical drama but it was good and kept you guessing.

1 minute left for my hair!

As far as I can tell right now, since my hair is stil wet, it is not blonde. I tried for but finally got a light strawberry blonde color I've been trying to get my hair to for ever! So far I'm excited! It looks good! My dh is so good at his coloring job. We'll know for sure once it's finished drying of course. If it keeps this coloring then we'll go back to the strawberry blonde again (same brande and colorsilk type) and keep it as close to this color as possible.

Heather, congratulations on a successful color job. Just be careful to do the roots now and avoid too much color on the ends. Condition, condition, condition. It's taken a long time to grow it out, don't mess it up.

I have laughed more than once in the last few days about the comments of retirement and being at home together. DH has been a stay at home Dad for almost 20 years. Everytime I have a vacation, it totally throws him off. We have to reacclimate to our "vacation" schedule each time. And, as each of you have said........ that's a good reason to keep working. Although I qualify now, I see at least 10 more working years in my future. Besides, what "regular" people really get to retire before 65 anyway.

So, since I'm not 65, I'm off to bed.........another day, another dollar.

Good MONDAY morning!

Quickie -- I have to be at the hospital by 7:15 for my cortisone shot.

Donna -- WOW -- Sora is so much better! That is wonderful news! And you have WATER! More great news! You got some early Christmas presents this year. Now let's hope for that laptop under the tree.

If Bob and I were ever actually able to retire, I think I would enjoy it. He sorta leaves me alone. We each do our own thing, coming together in bits and pieces during the day. Works for us!

Heather: how's the HAIR?

Confession time: I made a new chocolate chip cookie recipe yesterday. And I ate THREE. SIGH. Guess I am not as good as I thought. I did not get on the scale today to check the damage. Piggy Fingers today. And today ... back to the straight and narrow. Hope I didn't totally screw up. I might have to resort to jello and broth today!

Have to run. Have a great day!

Morning everyone!

The hair? I think it looks good! It really is a nice light red - the strawberry blonde. I'm sure that will some washings it'll get a little darker. We dye it every 6 weeks and this color sure is nice. We did my eyebrows too and they even turned out a shade or two lighter. I'm so glad that this worked! Not blonde like the box but better. Red like I've been trying instead of the dark brownish red I've been getting.

Well, I'm off to the gym now. Excited to get moving so I can get out of the high end of my signature again. Getting to close for comfort since I'm also feeling it in my clothes.

Monday, Monday. The weeks fly by, don't they? Shelley, that's the blessing of being really busy. Take care of you.

Heather, I'm delighted that you're happy with your hair color adventure. Hope we can get a picture soon.

Donna, getting dressed up is fun once in a while. Sorry the dinner wasn't worth the effort, but still.... We've run out of fancy family weddings for at least a couple of decades, so I don't see black tie in dh's future anytime soon.

Alida, I'm cooking this week, too. An LC cheesecake pie and a Fauxtato casserole for the office Christmas potluck. I figure that bringing these will help me stay out of the rest of the goodies. After the first of the year, I'm going to try a revised eating plan for a while--not sure what yet--just to shake things up. I think my body has totally adjusted to my current pattern of eating, and is likely to start gaining if I don't throw it a surprise.

Yesterday, I was bored with sitting at home, so I took myself to the Toy & Miniature Museum. Wonderful place! The miniatures are incredible. One of my childhood dolls is on display there, a gift to the museum's founder, Barbara Marshall, whom I mentioned earlier. I'm thinking of donating a couple of other unusual dolls--ones my dad brought me from his travels around the Mediterranean when we were there with the Air Force.

I had time to go to the Liberty Memorial Museum, too, only long enough to see the short introduction film I somehow missed on my first visit. Since I can walk over there any day at lunchtime, I'm starting my own personal continuing education plan re WWI.

Judy, good luck today. You'll know what to do. Peg, likewise!

Berta, Teel--all good thoughts.

Back later!

P. S. Back sooner--I see that Heather has posted at the same time. Wanted to say your hair is not likely to get darker, since you've bleached out your brown color. It may actually get lighter as the red washes out.

Heather, I love strawberry blond! I'm relieved to read that it worked out so well, in fact. Pictures!!!

I'm not in the schedule to work most of the week, and it feels strange to be sitting home in my jammies! There are only a few classes on the calendar this week, and I'm only down to observe one class on Wed. and go to a staff meeting on Thurs. Friday has potluck holiday parties for both Youth Sci and Water Dept. Then, nothing much until after New Years. I'm told that January will be slow.

So, I think I'll call my neighbor and see if she's up for early morning walks again. She begged off back around Thanksgiving, and was supposed to call me when she was ready to get going again.

My weigt is up 3 lbs. since Friday. We ate out Saturday and Sunday. Although I ordered LC, I just plain ate too much. Then, too, I had a scoop of pumpkin gelato last night (I promise myself 1 scoop of Dolce Spazio's pumpkin gelato each year). That, plus a 1/2 a bread roll and about 1 oz. of mulled cider were my only off plan choices, but too much is still too much.

Brenda, I hope headache evaporated. I get headaches a lot this time of year. Maybe when DH butts in, you could just turn the job over to him and happily go on to something else? ("Oh, I'm so glad you can help! Here, you can just finish this up while I go and ....").

Barb - lighter? My dh will love that. He really was hoping that my hair would turn out blonde.

I just love miniature things. What a fun museum and walking around burning calories too. Double goodie.

Teel - I'll see my stepmom today and I'll ask her if she can take a pic with her cell phone and send it to me. It just turned out to good not to share it with you all.

Hope you are able to get that walk in. Feels so good "when done" exercising.
