Default DECEMBER Tracking

First of all, big hug to Heather. You've already heard good counsel and encouragement. I'm sorry your innocent nephew has to bear the consequences, but you'll do everything in your power, I know, to assure him that he is loved and cared for by YOU. Meanwhile, your landlady is the most important authority in this discussion, and your SIL will just have to start acting like a responsible parent on her own.

I tried taking a picture of my house in the dark, with the pretty lights shining through the snow. I never found the right setting to get lights and focus at the same time, but I'll drop in my favorite "fuzzy" shot anyway. Call it "artistic." I'm up late, lingering over coffee. I've got the whole day to get on with my idea of cleaning a closet or two. I'm certainly glad not to be going anywhere on wheels.

Oops. That wasn't the fuzzy shot. Let's try again. There it is. This is kind of the way I see things early in the morning anyway.

Me again. Or me still. You can see from this picture why we fell for the charm of this old house almost forty years ago. It's still a Christmas Card house, with all its quirks and cracks.

Alida, sorry about the lost post. That kind of frustration early in the morning doesn't get you off to a very good start. You are so conscientious about responding to everybody's posts.

Shelley, whenever you get here, hope you're not totally exhausted. This was scheduled to be a very busy day for you, and fighting the weather to get to work doesn't help.

Judy, I've one-upped you on the amount of snow, but you still take the prize for "weather whiplash." I can see from the weather maps on tv that you are living right between the clashing systems, and likely to get some of everything. Ack!

I'm voting for making myself a second pot of coffee this morning. I'll be back to chat later.

Barb, Love your house. It is Christmas card perfect. And how deep is the snow there??? Pretty deep here.. over the bottom of the chairs on the deck..

Alida: How frustrating to lose your whole post... hope you are doing well after your procedure.

Donna: How's your baby?? Sounded like she was doing better after the vet visit the other day.

Heather: Hope everything is working out with your family. You were certainly being generous babysitting for no pay. Don't think I could have been that nice.

Shelley: How's the day, if your weather is as bad as this... maybe people canceled.

I am so glad I didn't have to get out in this, however, the job I had I would have just called in and stayed home.. hospital could have survived without me. Guess I am going to get out in this.. gotta go get more coffee and somebody has to shovel..and that be me. Kind of looking forward to it, haven't played in the snow for a long time... haven't seen this much snow forever. However, 13 degrees thinkin' I'll wait till it gets warmer..

Ya'll have a good day...I'm going to watch the news and drink my coffee...and check back for the continuing saga of "The Fireside Chat"

Alida - Ugh Alida! I hate working hard on a long post and then losing it. I type my messages on word perfect to help with my spelling and lost my brain and in error X out the program.

Judy, Alida, Barb, and Berta - Thanks!! Doing much better this morning. Came to the realization that I don?t need to worry about this as much as I am. If my family tries to get me to "sneak" watch my nephew I?ll just ask them if they really cared about me they wouldn?t risk me getting evicted. Plus as much as I love nephew I shouldn?t worry about this more then his mom. DH said too that things happen for a reason and maybe this is for his mom to be his mom and this Aunt to be his Aunt.

Barb - You have such a beautiful house and take such wonderful care of it. One day I?ll take a picture of my apartment for you guys. I?ve lived in many apartments, a few renter houses, over the years and this is my first low income place. It?s the most beautiful one of all! I can?t believe that people misuse these beautiful apartments. I have 3 bedrooms!! My boys each get there own room. It?s really great to live in America to get an opportunity to live in a safe beautiful place for only 30% of my DH gross income. Before this place we lived in a 1 bedroom apartment but of course DH was almost 3 and needing his own room soon.

Shelley - I saw on the news that the weather looks awful in your state. Hope you are doing well today.

Berta - Forgive me but where do you live again? Looks like a little to the right on the map from me since it hasn?t snowed in a few days. Just been windy and blowing the snow everywhere. It feels nice today at 26 degrees. I?m going to Salvation Army with my dad and stepmom (love her!) For 50% off day.

Good Morning, guys! Your weather has moved east and is sitting over ME! It's strange to be the most easterly of us now that Peg is in CA. Anyway, nine inches as of 9am and no end in sight. I wouldn't mind a bit except I have a hair cut appt today I'll probably miss--hey, a girl has her priorities!!! If I could get out to the main roads I could make it maybe, but my little street is never a priority for the plows, not to mention my driveway. This is when I wish I still had 4WD.

Hope all of you who have had to get out are safe.

Barb, your house is perfect!!!! No wonder you fell in love with it--I'd feel like I stepped in a storybook.

Since I am in captivity today, you may see more of me, heh heh..... hugs to all......

I shoveled snow this morning... wore DH's old army galoshes (do you still call them galoshes??) they were wonderful had felt liners.. however, the snow was over the top of the boots.. OK, now ask me why I was crazy enough to shovel snow when I could have just left it... not enough coffee.. forgot to buy more coffee before the snow hit, guess I have my priorities snow or no snow. Fortunately I do have 4 wheel drive, that was sure a benefit this morning, didn't have to go far, but the streets are a mess with deep snow.. and only a few tracks.

Donna, I found this article on how thyroid disease affects liver function. Although this article is referring to humans, I believe there is a similar physiology in dogs. The article refers to both hypo- and hyperthyroid conditions, and I'm assuming Sora is hypo-thyroid.
Hope you both are doing well today.

Brenda: Is the article on the net? If so, where could I find it.

Be back later, I hope.

Hi guys!
Just a quickie little fly by to tell you all I made it to work and back home...by the Grace of The Heavenly Father. OYE!
We ended up cancelling 6 surgeries after all due to a water line freezing and cracking that runs one of our sterilizers. Soooooooo.......there's more to this story, but I really can't go into it here.(sarcasim and irony involved!) snort!
I got up at 0330 and left my house by 0430. It took almost a whole hour to go 20 miles! The roads were pretty much a sheet of ice with a snow coating. The bigest obstacle was actually getting out of our subdivision. I do have a Z-71 4WD(our road trip vehicle) and if I hadn't had a 4WD vehicle, I'm not so sure I could've even gotten out of our driveway
I don't know exactly what our total snowfall was on my side of town, but I know it was significant enough to close a lot of businesses down.

To all who are being pelted with this winter storm....(((hugs))) and stay safe and warm. To all who wished me well, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, 'cause when you drive on ice in OOOOklahoma(and have to deal with men in pick-up trucks who think defensive driving does not pertain to them), you need all the prayers and good vibes you can get! Har & snort!!!!

later, chickadees!
Shell

Oh...our little snowbirds(juncoes) showed up the first part of the week. Also, we have a pair of cardinals that are now daily visitors to our feeders I'm hoping Santa will bring me another birdfeeder or 2.

Brenda: Thanks so much for the link. It does sound exactly like Sora. I'll have to talk to the vet about it next week when I take her back for a recheck. She is on thyroid meds now.

Shelley: Wow...did you ever get ugly weather. I can't stand to drive in that. I hold my breath when I'm driving in bad weather...one of these days I'm going to pass out at the wheel doing that, I know. lol Glad you made it there and back okay.

Barb: Loved the pictures of your house. I always wanted a house with an upstairs in it with windowseats so I could curl up and read with a cat by my side. Obviously, it didn't happen. lol

Just a quickie again for me. We had quite a scare last night when Sora fell asleep on my chair. I tried to move her so I could sit beside her and she just lay there with her eyes open with a glassy eyed stare. I couldn't wake her up. I was screaming at her and dh ran over and picked her up. Finally she woke up. I was sure she was a goner. I guess she was just in a deep sleep but the rest of the night was a write off for me...wouldn't let her out of my sight. She seems to be doing a tiny bit better each day....still won't eat or drink on her own. But, each little thing that she does that reminds us of the old Sora is a big achievement. This morning she gave me a little kiss on the cheek....that was all I needed to have a great morning!

The ugly weather sort of bypassed us again. We've had 2 days of sunshine but it warmed up a little...not enough to melt anything but it's okay.

We were supposed to go to town tonight and spend the night at my in-laws and then leave the dogs with them while we do our Christmas shopping. I changed that this morning when I got up and saw that Sora had left a mess in the front room. All these meds have gived her diarrhea and I won't take her to my inlaws like that. Their house is just like something out of Better Homes and Gardens. Dh is ticked off at me, but too bad. He could go by himself if he wanted. I told him I would go in tomorrow with him and I can pack a small cooler with all her food and meds in it, and I can do it all in the car. As long as she's with us she's happy, and she has her blanket for the car. I know he's anxious to get his laptop but I think Sora comes first right now. Besides, now he says I can't get a laptop until probably next February or March, so let's let him wait a little too. lol

Just a few things to finish off before I can head home for the weekend. One of these days my life will get back to normal and I won't feel like I'm writing for All the World Turns. Thanks for putting up with me guys.

Berta - Kansas! My grandma lived in Wichita for many years and from video?s Grandpa and her would send to us of their Christmas, Easter and even Valentines Day decorations each year. I saw many video?s of snow. Great exercise shoveling snow. I?ve thought about asking the maintenance guy of my apartments if I could help but I bet they have legal issues with that. Don?t want to be looked at as the weird tenant who compulsively shovels or anything.

BC - Stay warm!

Shelley - I just love birds. I hope you get that bird feeder from Santa.

Donna darling - stop saying that we're "putting up with you". You should never feel like you are burdening friends. Wouldn't be good friends if we didn't listen right? I'm glad to hear that Sora is giving kisses today. Sorry to hear about the scare last night. My heart hurt for you as I can imagine how you felt.
