Judy, bundle up. Don't even THINK about fashion. Just warmth. I don't suppose Payless in Texas stocks fleece-lined boots, but if you can find any, they might be a good idea.
That's about as likely as finding the ear muffs and other warm items that Brenda suggested a week or so ago. People, they already have bathing suits in the stores here! Anything "warm" is a fluke. You have to buy that kind of stuff before Christmas.

Heh, heh.....I was trying NOT to scare you, Judy, but it looks like you are taking care of that yourself, LOL!!!! Downtown was particularly nasty today due to the high winds. Part of Lakeshore Drive (seen on your second picture) was closed because of zero visibility. One of the commuter train stations was so full of people (hundreds) waiting for delayed trains that scores had to wait OUTSIDE. But hey, we're having great weather this weekend

Glad you found a coat hiding in the closet, and a nice scarf will be welcome, too. Undoubtedly you will see snow here

Barb, thanks for the link. Yuck! I think I'd take a few extra pounds over "cosmic pizza grease." LOLOLOL! I love that term....the visual is disgusting but the term is priceless.

Meanwhile, this is the exercise of the day, Judy......

EDIT: We've got bathing suits in the stores, too. You'll see!

To those of you who've lived with bad weather, my apologies. This really isn't that awful. I am enjoying terrorizing Judy, though.......

The best I can say to you all today is: Don't let Valentine's Day get you down! Very few sweethearts--even the most adoring--can live up to the hype. Nor should they. My beloved procrastinated, and with the weather keeping us close to home, he admitted last night that I'd have to face this morning without the usual avalanche of cards. For some reason, it's a little easier for me to get my hands on a card or two. We have a date for dinner tomorrow.

Judy, I figured they'd be short on winter gear in TX, especially now. Of course, we're all seeing spring clothes in the stores, too--that's the only place spring is showing up.

I loved the Springer Spaniel that won Westminster Best in Show. He wasn't the most exotic breed, but what a show dog! Brenda, forgive me, but I can't stand to look at poodles done up that poofy way. I know it originates in a hunting custom, but zheesh. It looks so undignified. I was kinda rooting for the PBGV--and worked all night to remember the actual name of the breed. I think I got it: Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (Vahn-Day-ahn more or less).

Chicago seems to be a focus of energy for the group these days. Hope we can turn it around to positive energy before it's all said and done.

Stay warm, m'dears. Warm in heart at least.

Like Peg, I am lurking. But Judy, Lake Michigan can be absolutely awesome during a cold winter. The waves freeze! Really beautiful!

I got a call to stay home yesterday because of the snow. But I had some computer work to do and various calls to Chicago. Got some good info. Now, if someone will LISTEN. XXOO

Hugs to All and Happy Valentines Day, too! I gotta make this very short, get myself semi-decent and trek across town. Lovely sunshine today, today. Can't beat that for a winter excursion. Back later....

Nothing planned today that should keep me from straying off my eating plan. Last night we went out to dinner and I was able to stay on plan. Tonight I go to church and watch the babies in the nursery so should be able to pick up some extra steps walking around with those crying babies.

Elliptical is being delivered tomorrow at 1pm! I'm excited! Won't be able to get home until 5pm from babysitting but plan on working the machine while I watch Ugly Betty.
    -------

    Peg - Howdy!
BC - Thanks! I'm excited to get my elliptical delivered tomorrow. I forgot my weights at the in-laws house but will try to pick it up this Friday when FIL looks at our radiator in our car. Stay home!! Those roads sound horrible.

Judy - What a great pictures!

Barb - I agree, I can't wait for the new season to start. Spring!! Where are you? BC said it is predicted a dry one. Although I feel for the farmers I am looking forward to many walks with nice weather. To hot? I'll just go on those wonderful sunrise walks that I love. I get home and breakfast started before DH even wakes up to get ready for work. Can't wait!

Alida - I can't wait for the weather to start clearing up so we can get around when we need too.

Shelley - Happy VD to you too!

    Hi Gang!

Writing from my dgd's computer while I take a break. Boy, I'll tell you, I've learned from this house that it is not a good idea not to dust and vacum for several months!! Sheesh! I will NEVER tell her that. I am just doing what I can. LOTS of washing and drying and folding. But, it's okay. I'm being productive and that's more than I can say for most days these days.

The ofh finally got back to us last night and the price has dropped to $20K!! Now, why do you think that is? Do you suppose it might be because a MAN (my dh) got involved and I got out of it??? Sheesh. Makes me so mad. But, I'm not going to sweat it. Now we have to design and buy the kit chen, but it won't be too expensive. I'm going to do it on the cheap. Though, I will get good appliances, because they will go with us wherever we go next.

I'm feeling a whole lot better today. It's really good to be alone. Though I do have the TV on with HGTV. Love that channel.

Listen all you snowy gals.....do take care, hear!! I am watching the news and simply awed by the weather that you are having. Of course, I am always awed by the weather, you know. The BIGGER the better for me.

    Peace, Peg

That is so nice of you Peg to help out with the cleaning. You are really going to think I'm a fitness freak...last couple of months I did the final cleaning for a friend so she could get her deposit back and I've helped my sister-in-law who doesn't like housework and has up to 5 kids at one time there a couple of times. It is hard work and I can feel the burn from the scrubbing. I wouldn't let someone clean my house though...it would only take away from a bit of extra calories I could be burning.

Yes, indeed, Shelley. I succumbed to the chocolate temptation. BF brought me a heart-shaped box at lunchtime, and I ate two lovely pieces of Hallmark Gillham&Grand chocolate. I believe my blood sugar plummeted shortly thereafter, and I got to feeling so sleepy, I had to go for a Starbucks. I don't even LIKE Starbucks. So now I've got caffeine on top of truffle, and I really need to go home.:o

When I got to the gym this morning for cycle class, the place was open, but the guys at the desk said it was officially Closed because of weather, and class had been cancelled. It's kind of hard to get the word out at 5 a.m. Still, there's lots to do at the gym, so I hopped on the elliptical for 30 minutes and the treadmill for another 15, and got my sweat session done for the day all on my own.

I decided to try and break up my muffin habit, too, so I cooked egg and bacon for breakfast instead. Tasted pretty good.

Peg, you got to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em, I guess. If your dh was able to close a deal, take it. The goal is GOING HOME. Glad you're feeling better. Yes, doing something useful (and with closure to it) usually helps. Laundry is my chore, and I like it fine. Nice smell. Nice piles of clean stuff. Doesn't need to be done every day.

My thoughts are with everybody...interesting challenges all around. If we all sorta lurk until spring, we'll have that much more to catch up on. Take care!

Barb, my guy was caught unprepared this morning, too, after spending all day at home yesterday. He was rather surprised to find my card waiting for him, heh heh. No biggie. He'll bring one home this evening and the sentiment will always be perfect.

Barb, it took me years not to wince when I saw a poodle in drag (as I call it). In reality, working poodles these days wear low maintenance 'do's. Show coats are so difficult to keep that I have a difficult time imagining their utility.

Alida, I do hope things go well, and you have a productive day

Peg, glad you're getting some you time, even if it's washing and folding. Sometimes there's a soothing rhythm in the mundane. Especially if it's not your own mundane.. Down 20k? Well, that's irritating! You know, he's messing with people's LIVES! It will be fun to pick out good appliances, though

Heather, I'll have to say my exercise today was shoveling. The sun is out today and the roads were cleared by the time I got out. Enjoy your eleptical tomorrow!

Shell, nice to see you peek in

How is everyone else? Any special Valentine's plans?
