| Good morning! Wow. March sure came in like a lion yesterday. Howling winds. Needless to say, no windows got washed yesterday. (Window Washing is Firehouse's main business). At work, I started feeling a little funky so I prepared for a day off today. Woke up this AM feeling fine! Darn. I was looking forward to a day off. I think I'll leave early today, though. We did not have any hail here, Barb. But the office did and it's only 12 minutes away. The good news? NO LEAKS. Bob even mentioned we may start thinking about painting the kitchen. Notice the word thinking. Barb, two cute hunks, huh? Nice way to spend the day! I think a guy from Fox TV news did a book on that same subject. He unabashedly loves his wife! Brenda, your mention of new memory cards leads me to ask .... do memory cards "go bad?" Or do they sorta last forever? And Costco takes coupons? I always thought those kind of stores do not take coupons ..... Another pair of shoes? I was going to say a gal can't have too many, but yanno .... I do. I have two shelves of show boxes in an upstairs closet. I haven't looked at them for about three years. But it's the lifestyle change that did it. Now it's walkers during the day and slippers at night ... with the odd low heel or two for dress up and several pairs of flats. Shelley, that darn heel. I know it is crimping your style. Did you look at that contraption at Solutions? And now another tooth? Oy! Hope the dentist visit goes well and the discomfort is just a temporary blip. Donna, ah, Survivor. That poor team lost twice again. I'll bet that bottle idea came up in a hurry when the producers saw that one team was consistently losing! But yanno what always amazes me? There usually seems to be one person who annoys everyone ... but they don't get voted off! Guess one has to be there. And a new "do" for DD? Sounds wonderful! I think spoiling her a little right now is appropriate. Judy, I agree with everyone. Your daughter can manage the move-in. Once summer is here and you are off, I am sure she will have some projects for you to help with! Seems to take forever to settle in and to find the best place for everything from Aunt Ida's crocheted throw to the frying pan. And pictures? After four years, I am still playing with them. Heather, I am constantly amazed at your energy. But then you are young! You must be so thrilled to have your own elliptical! Happy Friday, everyone! XXOO

| Oh Peg, forgive me! I forgot to respond to you! What a wonderful friend you are. It's not work when you do things out of love. Prayers that the pathology comes back OK. If BF felt like "running to the store," she must be feeling OK. Thank goodness for that! Barb, green eggs and ham? What the heck ARE green eggs anyway, LOL!

| Morning everyone! My day started with my little friend I watch at 5:30 am. We have a nice day ahead of us with going to Salvation Army's 1/2 off sale and then to look for baskets at the craft store. Thankfully my parents are taking us so that I don't have to manage with the little ones alone. Plus this means that DH can get some quiet time. He has been so patient with all the energy that runs around here that he deserves it. When we get back I'm going to make my parents lunch. They are working on lowering calories so I'm going to introduce them to http://hlc.merchantcart.net/mainshop...&Show=PURCHASE - tofu noodles. The bag is only 40 calories total and is wonderful!! I'm going to put 99% lean turkey burger, mushrooms and tomato sauce. They'll each get a large bowl that is about 250 calories. For dessert I'm going to make a bowl of pumpkin with splenda and spices that Nita mentioned. So wonderful and only 140 calories for the can! Pretty filling so will split the can for them. 320 calorie lunch! Later it'll turn scary because we go and pick up one of my nephews at school. He can be a lot of work because at this early age of 7 the little guy steals and just doesn't listen. Love him so much and it'll only be for 2 hours when grandparents pick him up. His parents are going out of town for a family wedding and nephew gets car sick and asked if he could stay. Don't blame him. So later I'll have a 2 year old, 3 year old, 7 year old (that might as well be 3 kids ------- Barb - My 8 year old is bringing Dr. Seuss books to school today. What a fun day!! Hope you have a good time at your event. Alida - I really enjoy my elliptical. I find I feel so good about my day when I have jumped on it. Good to take care of me too. // Have a good day! |

| Hi gang! Working on my 2nd cuppa this morning. It's kinda chilly here this morning; it figures after the gorgeous day we had yesterday! Alida....I did look at the sleep brace on the link you posted; thank you for that. If I was going to go that route, I would go ahead and get one custom made, I think. Actually, my heel feels pretty good of a morning now. It's later in the day or after I fitness walk that it starts hurting...<sigh> I think it is ~slowly~ better; guess I just need to be patient...which I am NOT! LOL! On the tooth issue: they did an extra xray and said it could possibly be an infected root. Of course the dentist wanted to jump right in and replace the filling; I said "no thank you", I'll wait until it declares itself more clearly. Heck at this point, I'm not sure EXACTLY which tooth it is. Kinda funny how a toothache can radiate to other teeth; but this is just a once in a while sensation...not every time I drink hot stuff. Oye!...it's always something! Barb...ahhhh...good ole green eggs-n-ham! Probably not visually appealing, but tasty to a LC'er, eh? Have a good day! Bren...well, aren't you just the little shoe shopper?! Are you trying to bump me off as *Shoe Queen*? I, to, have a ga-zillion pairs, and DH jokingly tells me all the time, that it looks like I'm trying to out-do my *Aunt Emelda* Seriously, no seriously....I have been known to do that...although not lately, I don't think. You go girl...yanno, it's sounding more like we are kin....you just might be a long lost Emelda cousin or something like that...LOL. Peg...good to hear from you, darlin'! I'm so glad your bgf is doing so well. Recovery for some, is often times mind over matter. A good and positive attitude is surely a helpful thing to have. Prayers the path will be good with clean margins. Heather...sounds like you have a *jam-packed* day ahead of you. Yep...you're young...I've no doubt you'll do just fine Donna...hope you are getting all caught up with the end of the month stuff you do, and it's soon out of your hair Judy...wow...it sounds like a never ending thing for you...no time to call your own for quite a while. In that case, I'd say, make the most of any time you can grab...and if that means a bubble bath or a nice tall Marita...go for it! Hang in there, kiddo. Sending good vibes your way for lots of energy and patience for ya! OK....Teel, Berta...where are ya??? You guys better have a good excuse for making us worry about ya! LOL... Really, I do hope you are both well and can check in soon! Well...I have a piddly little $10.00 gift certificate from JC Penney, so I may mosey to the mall later and see what I can see...LOL. Actually, I'm in the market for a few things...a new toaster oven tops the list. Mine died a tragic death right before Christmas, and Santa didn't even realize it...LOL. I am pretty picky about what I want. I was so disappointed my old one had such a short life span...less that 2 years, as I recall. They just don't make some things like they used to. I think small appliances are definitely a *disposable* item these days. I remember back *in the day*... my Nana had her toaster repaired, several times actually. She had the same darn toaster for 15 or more years...LOL...good ole days...yatta, yatta, yatta. OK...enough reflecting...I'll just suck it up and go buy another disposable toaster oven! Everyone have a good Friday! Ummm....thinking out loud....time change is NEXT weekend...Sunday, March 11, I see. prolly back later... (((hugs to all))) S.

| Green eggs and ham! Yes, Sam I AM a fabulous fan of green eggs and ham! Turns out the green eggs were eggs scrambled with a bit of pesto--very tasty indeed, and also pretty on the plate with a half of a grilled tomato and char-grilled ham slices. All suitably low-carb. Hard to pass up the orange juice and the blueberry muffins, but that's life. "Reach Out and Read" is a national program extended through pediatricians' offices and children's hospitals. Beginning with newborns, parents and their children are provided with new books. Volunteers read to children in hospital rooms and waiting rooms. (I'm thinking about doing that!) It appears to be a fairly simple, grass-roots effort to prepare kids and their parents for the enjoyment as well as the incredible importance of reading. We got to hear Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and local meteorogist Bryan Busby do a stage reading of Green Eggs and Ham--and as the emcee said, "A book about ham read by a couple of real hams!" Fun way to start the day. And I'm leaving at lunchtime. Heh heh. Like that part, too. See ya later, babes. |

| Morning ladies....it's a chilly one here today, but the sun is trying to shine. And....it's Friday. Shelley; I sure do agree that things aren't made to last. Just last month I had to retire my moms' iron. She died in 1967 and had it for many years before that. It's not that it didn't work....the wrapping around the cord was worn down to the wires and I was afraid of getting zapped. I still use a lot of her baking stuff. Wish we could get things made as well now a days. Brenda: More shoes? You have officially won the title of shoe queen. Lucky girl. I love shoes....well not as much as going barefoot, but it's a little cool for that now. Peg: Glad to hear from you. What a friend you are! My father in law always says that if you have one friend that would be willing to take your place in a line facing a firing squad then you are a lucky man! Don't think I've met anyone silly enough to do that...but then my life is far from over. Judy: Your dd will be just fine. As parents we just have to learn how to stop worrying (aren't I a fine one to talk?) Heather: Energizer bunny....that's you. I did end up walking last night. Got home from work, changed my shoes and took off. I was half way through my walk when I passed the pharmacy and remembered I was supposed to pick up dh's prescriptions. Woops! Had to go straight home to get my purse and back to pick them up. So much for the walk. Alida: I sure was disappointed in tv last night. What happened to Grey's Anatomy? And ER? I was on the edge of my seat cheering on the losing team in Survivor and they blew it again. Of course, they have to have someone who complains...I really don't like that guy, I think his name is Rocky? Trouble maker. And, poor Poppa Smurf. Hope he's okay. It's supposed to hit 16C tomorrow, but I have my doubts. Pretty hard for it to warm up that much when it's snowing in Vancouver. (they can have it) Sunday, we are going to town, so the list is growing. Dd went to the dr yesterday and he explained to her exactly what was happening to her body by the time she got to the hospital. Pretty scary. She's made it 17 days now. But, they are now determined she will go to rehab. Put her at the top of the list. So, she could be in there before the month is over. Better get back to work.

| Sorry to disappoint everyone, but I can not legally claim the throne. I don't have that many shoes which makes the spree of the last few days unusual. I threw away my highest heels years ago. I'm hard to fit, so generally if I'm in a shoe mood and find something I like that really feels good, I go for it. Alida, memory cards can go bad. Generally it will make the camera or other device act as if it were broken when they do. Some people have thrown out perfectly good devices when the memory card was the only problem. Same thing with memory in your pc. Costco only takes their own coupons, so you're right they don't take most of them. They mail members a coupon book every month or so. The prices minus coupons are generally really good, if you need the product. We finally caved on the dental hygiene front, buying a Sonicare set from there (2 complete units in pkg) minus a $25 coupon from an already very low price. Couple that with a $14 rebate offer you can get from any dentist _____________ Weather's crappy again today, high winds and snow. Consequently dh is working from home. I'm sorta getting used to it. more to come

| Hello, my lovelies! Well, we hit Sears on the way home yesterday, and scored a washer and dryer, refrigerator, gas range. Sears is having a Sale here until Saturday. 10% off, and a sizable rebate for each. Dropped a bunch of $$$ on that. They will be delivered the end of April when we have our walk through. We got a wonderful KitchenAid refrigerator! Yay! I'm waiting now for the truck to deliver our new bed and nightstand. We have a Select Comfort bed to sleep on, but I got a headboard and footboard with rails. Our Select Comfort SHOULD fit! Yikes! It's so good to hear from all of you. I wish that I could answer each of you singly. Thanks so much for posting and telling what's going on with you. My diet seems to be pretty up and down. While I was gone, I realized that I seem to have this 14 year old girl's voice in me that says, "Yay! We're away from home! We can eat anything that we want!" Sheesh. I have less trouble eating correctly when I am at home. Now, I ask you, "Whose in charge here?" Sigh DH is off at a Missions conference today and tomorrow. He took the train this morning so I could go to my Spanish class, and then we got the call from Penney's that they were going to deliver today. We've only waited a MONTH for this danged delivery. Tomorrow, he'll taking the car because the train is not as reliable on Saturdays. Barb and Alida: I think it is absolutely necessary that you take the afternoon off! You too, Donna! I hereby give you permission! Judy: I suspect that my willingness to bestow Friday afternoons off would not apply to you. By the way, how was the actual conference in Chicago? Did you learn anything that you didn't already know? How is it knowing that you don't have to do Aca Dec. this spring? Well, I need to get to work on writing. I have a few ideas that I need to put down on paper. (actually, it's really putting down on "hard drive." Love ya, Peg ps: Terry and Bert and Rach: Where are you?? |

| Didn't find my baskets but got a suggestion on where I might be able to find some. Do that tomorrow. Lunch went well and the kids are asleep. I'll check on them in a sec before ds and nephew arrive which should be any minute. I'll catch up more tonight! Got to hide the laptop so it doesn't get damaged. - - - - - - - - Shelley - Hope you find just the toaster oven today on your trip! Barb - You have such an exciting job. Donna - Sorry to hear that you didn't get your walk in. You'd never hear the end of it if you forgot his prescriptions I'm sure. BC - You talking about all those shoes got me looking and thinking about getting some with a thick heal to slim down my legs. Peg - I think the same 14 year old talks to me too. I can't turn down food when I'm away from home. When I'm on vacation I go all out especially in that area. I love what you said - who's in charge here? I need to remind myself of that phrase, thanks! |

| Me too, Shel. I can't believe the day is almost over. I have to get dh in about an hour and then we'll have dinner and put up the bed, hopefully. Neither one of us is very strong at this age. I hope it can go together in parts! Peg |

| Me three! Haven't been outside and it doesn't look like I'll venture out tomorrow, either! Got a few things done at home, though. Crossing fingers your bed goes together easily. When I worked for JCP in their Service/Warehouse system years ago, the delivery people put everything together they delivered. Wondering if the guys bailed on you, Peg.

| Night everyone!! What a long night. The grandparents grabbed my oldest so I'm waiting for him to get home before I retire to bed. I did get baskets for under my couch and coffee table!! They don't look to shabby. DH is going to help me construct something underneath the couch ones so they hold up better being dragged out every few days to get my weights. |

| Saturday morning...a cold, gloomy sky. Too bad, because I think there's supposed to be a total lunar eclipse around sunset this evening, and that could be something to see. Nothing about it in the paper this morning though. Maybe I'll go to Google and see what I can find out. Peg and Donna, you're out of luck, because it will still be too light out West. It was an enjoyable lunch with my bf the retiree and her dh yesterday. Then we went to the movies. She picked "King of Scotland." Well done, but hauntingly terrible. Snuggled in my warm bed in my big house, I can't help thinking about other lives in other lands. Peg, did you end up sleeping on a mattress on the floor? Bedding is SO heavy! I can't imagine putting it together by ourselves. Off to weights class and step class today. My Saturday treat. ![]() Stay warm. Relax. Enjoy the weekend, girlfriends. P. S. Yes--total lunar eclipse at about 6:00 CST. Not that it will be dark enough to see the full effect. And probably too cloudy today. I remember the last total lunar eclipse I saw in KC. The moon looked like a copper cue ball, close enough to touch, and incredibly dimensional. Magical! |

| Good morning! I actually slept in a little this morning. Barb, Ooooh. Lunar eclipse! Now I just have to remember to look out at 6pm! Bob mentioned going to a movie today. Usually we go to one around 4, so I may have to adjust that if I want to see what there is to see of the eclipse. Many years ago, while "up north" I saw the Aurora Borealis. It was magical! I stood outside for over an hour with my mouth hanging open. And one year while driving to Chicago, I saw a meteor shower that left me awe struck. Must have been the Perseid's. It was night and we must have been in a "country" area so it was pretty dark. We actually pulled over so Bob could watch, too. Donna, what's up with GA re-runs ALREADY? Sheesh. I am trying to remember what TV was like when we were younger. I could SWEAR that there was a new show every week -- September to about May. Then in the summer it was re-runs or they would have new "summer replacement" shows. Must be the high cost of those star salaries. I wonder if Poppa Smurf had a concussion. And Rocky? I agree. His rants are getting old. Shelley, I can one-up you on appliances going bad. We got a new Mr. Coffee for Christmas and two weeks ago it died. All our other Mr. Coffees lasted for years. It was only $20 at Target, so what's the point of having it repaired. This time around, I will make sure I fill out the warranty card. LOL about Nana's toaster! I remember having ONE toaster the whole time I was growing up! I am glad your foot is feeling a little better. Is ice and massage the only cure? Peg, wow. New appliances, new bed .... how exciting! I hear you on not being as strong any more. And I agree with Brenda ... you would think the delivery guys would set up the bed. Fingers crossed they did. And I take it the kitchen appliances are being delivered to your new place, right? You mentioned having the plans available for us to look at. I love looking at plans! Brenda, LOL about getting used to DH working from home! They sorta grow on you, don't they? As for shopping, I am the same way, really. I can go for long periods not buying a thing. But then all of a sudden I find I need stuff. Then it's 4 or 5 things all in a row. At least it gives me a chance to pay down the charge bill. However, I can never seem to get it down to -0-. Think I'll mosey over to LinenSource. They are having a sale. I PINE for a new bedspread for the MBR. I really don't NEED one, and it's in perfect condition. But since we bought the new mattress several years ago, it is too short on the sides. But this entails the whole she-bang. Dust ruffle, coverlet, shams. I know they do bed-in-a-bag thingys, but I never like the designs. And the ones I like run close to $400. My bedroom furniture is Baker. Seems almost sacrilegious to put something cheap on that bed! Have a great Saturday! XXOO
