Good Morning everyone! It's after 10:00 and I'm still sitting around in my pajamas. I have successfully managed to do nothing except read the newspaper and turn on the already full dishwasher. I even got to sleep in until almost 8:00. I can't tell you how wonderful that was. If I didn't have so many things that I want and need to do, I would try for the weekend slug award.

It's great to be at home -- this is only the second day in the last month that I have been here for a full day. To make it even better, DH is in Dallas again, so I'm home alone. It's been about 3 months since that has happened. He doesn't really "cramp my style", but it is nice to do things without consideration of others occasionally. It is incredibly quiet with him gone. Today I plan to try to do some sewing and mending. I have several things that need to be ironed and stuff to be laid out for packing. Tuesday, I leave for St. Louis. I'll be away on that trip for 5 days. Of course, that also means making detailed plans for a sub additionally I need to create a new lesson for my AP kids so that they will complete and understand Fiscal Policy (and all it's ramifications) without me there to guide them.

I've read most of your posts and hate that I have been out of the loop of the conversations. It sounds like lots of shopping has been happening, and everyone is ready for spring. I totally agree about spring! We had a few days where the temp got almost to 80. It was wonderful. Off now to bathe and get moving. I need to take advantage of the time that I have. I'll try to check back later. Enjoy your Saturday everyone.

Mornin' gang!
Looks like another possible SLUG day for me...LOL. It's in the 30's, the wind is howling, and it's miserable with a wci of 23...blah! So, if I can find some positive energy I might consider going to the gym.

Quote:
I am glad your foot is feeling a little better. Is ice and massage the only cure?
Alida...with ice/ice massage they recommend stretching exercises and rest of course. Yeah...staying off the feet is NOT an option for me most of the time(except yesterday in SLUG mode) LOL.

Barb...thanks for the heads up about the lunar eclipse. I knew one was coming up, just wasn't sure when. If it stays clear here we may get a peek at it...dunno though.

Bren...what up? I'm SOOOOOO glad you *slugged* with me yesterday...LOL.
It's more fun with a pal

Peg...ditto above! I hate to admit, I stayed in my jammies until around 1300!
I never do that unless I'm *laid out* sick! Sheesh...I just can't seem to find my energy. I've got to kick myself in the rear and get busy with things.

Judy...hope you can grab some *me* time this weekend. I repeat...Marita's will help you make the most of any spare time you can manage

Bert, Teel, Heather, Donna...whatcha doin' this week end? Hope it's something totally fun!

DH is working, so I have the day to myself. I should find something constructive to do....nah...wouldn't want to spoil my SLUG-ISH image

Off I go...
most likely back later...
(((hugs to all)))

Morning everyone! I slept in today and I'm going back for a nap. I woke up later then usual but it was my bladder speaking to me that woke me up. Oh I love lazy Saturdays. The kids are just going to watch their morning cartoons. Going to see about decluttering my 8 year old's room today, getting in elliptical time, weight training and ending with weight training. All that and a nap will make for a full day.

- - - - - - - -

Barb - Thanks for the heads up on the lunar eclipse! Hopefully it'll be clear enough for DH and me to share a moment with our boys.

Alida - We just must have needed that extra sleep today.

Judy - Have a great Saturday!

Shelley - Have a good Slug day.

Hi Gang!

I have a new keyboard and mouse since mine both died on the same day (yesterday)! I had almost finished a full post to ya?ll and all of a sudden it disappeared, no doubt because of a burst of unbidden keystrokes! So, this post is going into MW!

We did set up the bed last night; and with pulling and tugging and a real mess with packaging and Styrofoam and boxes, and a little harping at each other we got it done. It was almost bedtime when we finished, and was I ready!! This morning I am really sore. Bren: Penney?s made it clear all through the ordering process, that they would be only delivering the packages to the front door and no further and no setting it up. Luckily, the bozos who did the delivering did bring it in! I suspect that they might have stayed to set it up if I had paid them a little cash, but frankly I didn?t want them in the house another minute.

But, even as sore as I am, I have already dusted and polished the entire apartment (took me all of a half hour). So, I am not going to win the Slug award! I am mortified. You all know how competitive I am. I am trying on recent purchases from some online folks. Much of what I have ordered, I have sent back. But, it sure beats mixing with the crowds out here. As I sit here I am typing in a lovely caftan I ordered from Soft Surroundings. I love it. I am ?acquiring? stuff to take with me to Tahiti. I plan on doing nothing but laying around the pool and looking lovely. Though, I really want to swim and kayak too. We?ll see how my muscles are doing by then.

Bren: Good for you on the shoes! I will have to go to the front of the line for the ?Imelda? award. I have so many shoes that I have to close my closet door so no one (dh) will see the mess in there. And, I keep buying! I scored a darling pair of three-inch rope wedge slings with a denim toe box and ribbons that tie up the ankle at Famous Footwear. They cost $20! Now that is my idea of a score!

Alida: I know what you mean about bedspreads. Mine no longer fits I found out when I made the bed this morning. But, I am going to wait until we move until I buy something new. I?m going to change colors in the mbdroom, so I need to see what color that is going to be. And, as predicted by my dd and my bgf, the bed, with its French Traditional white color is WAY too big for the room. Oh well. It looks funny with my maple and cherry other furniture. We have a hodgepodge since moving from MA. It will look better in the ofh mbroom. It will sit in there by itself with a nightstand that matches.

Barb: You sound as though you are ready for Spring! I well remember that feeling. March is my least favorite month on the calendar. How about that for a card?? I hope that today can be a day of rest for you. I know that you work hard on Sundays. Dh is back at the Mission conference today, with the car. Gives me a good excuse to stay in and read my new Robert Crais novel. I could go out in the sun, but the wind is blowing and it is SO dusty. We are having Santa Ana winds. Hot winds out of the desert. I?m not complaining about the sun, believe me, but the particular area in which we live is especially windy. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 81. I am glad. We have had a cold spell the last couple of weeks.

Shel: I hereby award you the slug award. Take it and enjoy it, girlfriend. You need it and you deserve it. Do it! That d*@n heel of yours! There is just nothing, I think, worse than sore feet. Especially when you have to be on them for work. You ARE on part time now, aren?t you? I?m so glad.

I don?t know if I told you all that we are having a ?walk-through? on April 25th of the place at the ofh. That means that it will be ours after that. Of course, we leave for Tahiti on the 26th, so we are trying to figure out what to do. I am hoping that they might be able to finish it a little early so we could move that week and then go on vacation. We could at least get everything IN there. I could come home and put it away. What do you think? If we wait until we get back on May 6th, we will have to pay for another month here at the apartment, and our rent will go up by $200. You can imagine what dh thinks about that!

Well, off to do some serious slugdom.

Love ya, Peg

Quick pass by for Peg:
In my experience it is very unlikely that the finishing at the ofh will happen earlier than planned. The closer to completion, the more things seem to slow down. You may be lucky, but I wouldn't bet on it if it were me.

No slug award for me today. I seem to have kept moving. I even used my new vac to suck the crap out of the basement floor and steps (all-weather carpeting.) You must believe this is a "magic machine" to get ME to vacuum.

The carpenter has been laboring hard all day, and the new door and window are in place. Woohoo! The difference is huge already in the amount of cold air coming in.

I stopped at Tuesday Morning to see if they had any bargains I couldn't live without. I've been thinking about replacing the bedcovers in our bedroom. But really, the bed is NEVER made, so why bother with fancy new covers?? Just for the cats to sleep on? Nah. I did buy some pretty sets of table napkins, and purple Capezio workout pants. Never too many workout pants, right Heather?

The sky cleared perfectly, so I'll take my binoculars out to an eastern vantage point at about 5:45 and check out that moonrise.

Peg, the timing doesn't sound good on the transfer. What about renting one of those portable PODS thingies? You can shift your furniture to a POD while you're in Tahiti, and move it into the new place when you get back. However, as BC suggests, the likelihood of the walk-through actually occurring on April 25th seems remote. You might be able to afford a few days in a hotel better than another month of big rent.

Now for a nice glass of Pinot Noir, and a long slide into the evening.

Hey everyone! Didn't get much of a nap. Was awakened by the
neighbor needing to make a call since she was locked out. So
DH and I made the bed and just watched TV. I felt like we
were back in the old days watching TV when we were young in
his room at his parents house. My mom would have killed us
if she would have known we were left alone back then. Since
the elliptical is right here DH surfed on the laptop while I
did my exercise. Plan on getting in my upper body weight
training in probably after dinner sometime. Decluttering?
Still planning on trying to work that in too. Have a good
evening and talk to you all probably tomorrow!
- - - - - - -

Never can have enough workout pants Barb! I have them in my drawer
with my pj's squished in. Now that I workout at home I plan
on getting more shorts. I never would have worn them at the
gym because of how white I am. People would be running into
each other due to me blinding them!

Peg - I don't know much on the subject but I hope that you
are able to get out of there. $200 is not money to be just
thrown around if you can help it. Buy some nice things with
that.

BC - passing you by but wanted to say hi!

Check it out!! I'm here two times in one day instead of two times in a week. Actually, I'm here while I'm psyching myself up to do some school work. I need to get an inspiring idea on how to set up the two big lessons for the AP classes that I will miss next week. The light just hasn't come on yet. What is it that Peg used to say.....she was waiting to give birth to a sermon. Yeah, I feel like that's more likely to happen tomorrow. I feel no labor pains at all tonight.

In the realm of "Judy Slugness", today I pressed a white cotton shirt, some black pants, a top, a skirt and a jacket. I also did some semi serious alterations on a jacket that I purchased in one of my Coldwater Creek bargain basement buying sprees. I think I only paid $14 for it so it wasn't worth paying the postage to send it back. To get it to fit I had to release the lining and take about 3/4 inch from each sides. The shoulders were just a little big so I stuck some tiny shoulder pads in there, and hemmed the sleeves. Why is it that a large top feels tight and a large jacket turns out huge?

Barb, if you tire of vacuuming at your house, you are more than welcome to try your miracle machine at my place. It always needs it. I have never seen a dog shed as much as Lexie does.

Over and out.......I don't feel a lesson idea coming at all. I think I'll just go to bed and watch TV.

Finally going to bed. Can't believe it's nearly 10pm. Have church in the morning and just got done with my weight training session. Not a bad day - got relaxing in AND some work. Woo hoo!! I'm such a lucky lady to have such a cooperative family that will let me have my exercise time.

Just about bedtime and I finally get around to dropping in.

Here it was Saturday, my day to sleep in and Sora climbed up on the bed at 6 this morning and started screaming. Woke us both up. Then she ran up to me and started giving me kisses. Scared the heck out of me. Of course, there was no going back to sleep after that. (she did though....she was fine)

So after a couple episodes of Trading Spaces, I got the laundry done, house cleaned, shopping done, freezer cleaned out and did a walk around the yard to check what plants are trying to poke out. Then took the dogs for a walk. By that time....I needed a nap. That was when the cat decided he needed attention. These critters just don't want me to sleep.

Tomorrow is our trip to town. I haven't been to town since Christmas so I'm really looking forward to it. Michaels' has a good sale on (ribbon 3-$1) so I'm going there of course. Dh needs a new shop vac so I'll get him to drop me off at Michaels and he can go to Home Depot. Then I don't have to listen to him whine while I'm shopping. We can meet in WalMart when we're both finished.

Dd dropped in at my work yesterday to tell me she signed the final papers for rehab. Good for her! Looks like she might get full funding. I can't believe the difference in her. She looks soooo good. Day 19 for her today. And, she's actually looking forward to rehab.

Sorry I haven't taken the time to talk to everyone singly, but it's late and I'm tired. I should sleep like a log tonight. I'll try to get back to you all tomorrow. Just wanted to warn you that if you see smoke in the sky coming from the north....it's okay, it's just my credit cards smokin' tomorrow!

Donna, it's great to hear that your dd is doing well. Fragile at every step, but hopeful. We're praying right along. As for responding to every post? I always consider that optional. Personally I don't post many comments that require it. Please forgive me, but I've forgotten which town "town" is. Where do you go to shop? Enjoy the day.

Judy, did your lessons emerge this morning? I'll bet your brain was busy on them all night.

The lunar eclipse wasn't that dramatic, because by the time the rising moon was visible, it was half-past total. It looked more or less like a normal half moon, gradually (almost imperceptibly) growing larger and larger. Still, when you consider that it's the shadow of Earth up there, it makes the whole system seem more real somehow.

Tonight my church group is going to see "Amazing Grace," the movie about anti-slavery in England. The Quaker hero is played by actor Ioann Gruffud, whom I fell in love with as Horatio Hornblower. (That's pronounced Yo-Ahn Griffith).

Enjoy the day everybody.

Good morning!

I spent the morning looking for a W-2 I brought home to forward to my old assistant who moved to India. The W-2 came home at the end of January. I just got a reply to my e-mail with his address in India and ... no W-2. Spent about an hour looking for the d*mn thing. I mentioned it to Bob and he suggested looking at our tax pile. Shur nuf. There it was! That mini-crisis is over.

Barb, at about 6:15 I went outside to look for the moon. It was still too light. I tried again at 6:45 and caught the end of it. Both Bob and I looked at it for a few moments, then he said. "OK. We saw it." LOL.

Judy, wow. Two in a day. Woohoo on salvaging a great buy. I am in awe of your sewing talent. Did you birth a lesson plan yet?

Peg, if you are both alive after the bed fiasco, you win the Gold Star! I can't tell you the number of times putting something together has caused arguments in this house.

As for the move/Tahiti timing -- it sucks. Of course, the least stressful idea would be to just pay the extra month's rent and move when you get back. At least you'll be rested for the move! I was thinking of your requesting the walk-through to be after you get back ... but then you would not be around if any questions/problems arose. Sigh. I really think the extra month's rent is the way to go. If everything is in a pod ... you have nothing to come home to! You can pack away the unnecessary stuff in preparation for the move, but still have a bed to sleep on when you return from Tahiti. Then again, the Moving Gods may smile upon you and you WILL be able to move in ahead of schedule!

Donna, if today is Sunday, you are SHOPPING!

That's such great news about your DD. And the rehab fees may be fully funded? That's wonderful news! (Whew).

Shelley, thanks for the PF update! Sigh. I can see how staying off your feet is not an option. Two things called Life and Work sorta mess that up. Of course, you can always claim slugdom is a medical necessity! (See, there is VIRTUE in slugdom).

It's getting late. Hello to everyone I did not mention. Have a great Sunday. Bob is playing golf and I think today's the day I may try coloring my own hair. Yikes. I should wear plastic gloves, right? XXOO
