Have a good day everyone!

------

Donna - Have a fun shopping trip!! Since Christmas you haven?t been to town? I bet you are in need of a lot! // That is wonderful to hear that your dd got the final papers and she is ready to continue on with a healthy life. Do you think it is the support of her guy friend that she met? I thought you mentioned a gentleman who was in AA with her. If I?m getting to personal just ignore me, I don?t get out much and often misjudge my boundaries. Anyway, a prayer sent for you daughter to have another victorious day.

Barb - Let us know how "Amazing Grace" goes.

Alida - Gotta run but wanted to say hi. W-2 lost is definitely a mini crisis. Glad to hear you found it.

Good Sunday morning to all!
I just got back from the grocery store...oye!...one hundred bucks and not a lot to show...<sigh> I must admit, I did spring for a new nail polish in the L'Oreal section, that's a luscious cottoncandy pink...yum! I can take it with me to my manicurist and she'll polish me right up, then if I have any *boo-boos* in between, I'll be armed and ready

Alida...thanks for re-inforcing that there is virtue in the Kingdom of Slug! LOL!
I'm going to try for a walk after lunch; I'll pay dearly tonight when the shoes come off, but...oh well.

Barb...busy but relaxing day for you, it sounds like. Enjoy.

Bren...you're forgiven for your lack of *post* yesterday...hehe. I do know what you mean...sometimes the time totally gets away from me to. Somedays, though, you just need to let the brain go into neutral, yanno? But....we do look forward to hearing from you today, OK?

Peg...Hope you are feeling better this morning. I'm inclined to agree with Alida...that extra $200 might be cheaper than trying to rent storage space, and besides, that would be only1 move instead of 2 trying to do storage, THEN move again into the OFH. I will continue to hope and pray though, you can get in early. Just don't wear yourself out and feel crummy on your trip!

Judy...Yay!...2 posts from you yesterday...we'll take 'em! Wow, sounds like you had a productive day sewing and mending despite not *birthing* the lesson. Hopefully, you'll *deliver* today on the lesson
Have fun on your trip...will you get to check in while you're gone?

Donna...ready....set....SHOP!!!! I can see you already...whippin' out those charge cards! Have fun and be sure to fill us in on your big scores!

Heather...hi to you! Hope the week end is good to you.

Bert, Teel,....where and how are you guys??? Inquiring minds want to know!
Hope you both are well.

OK...guess I'll go see what I can find in the freezer to defrost for dinner tonight. I had intended to buy an eye of round roast and have roast beef and veggies tonight, but totally forgot it,('cause it wasn't on my list...duh!) and I'm not going back to the store. I think I have a pack of nice butterfly pork loin chops, so that will do.
All this is subject to change though, should DH suggest a dinner date tonight; I'll jump right on that...hehe.

prolly back later at some point...
(((hugs to all)))

It's lonesome in here LOL!
Come out, come out, wherever you are!

Well...DH sprang for a dinner date tonight. We went Italian...yeah, I probably went over my calorie count by a couple hundred. On the positive side, I did get to walk today

Headed to the sofa...shoes off, feet up, cuppa DCGT, hgtv....ahhhhh....my return to Slugdom!

over and out!

Hi Gang!

I was going to post right after we got home from church, but opted for lunch and a nap instead. Now, it is 3:00 pm and almost time for dinner! Nothin' like bein an absolute slug, huh? I win the prize today!!

I got up feeling kinda punk. Nothing really specific, just overal achy and tired. I was this way yesterday too.

My computer has been giving me fits, so I "restored" and "system" this afternoon. First time I have done this successfully. Wel......we'll hope that it is successful! I've not been on very long.

I hope that it was a peaceful day for you all. Sorry I wasn't on earlier, Shel. Hope you are resting now.

See y'all tomorry

Here I am!!! Sorry! I've been in the land of good intentions all day. We were on the go most of the day (no shoes when dh is shopping with me, LOL), and by the time we got home and dh worked on my pc it was time for supper. Tacos! Yeah for having the filling ready made in the freezer. The upshot is that I have a new video card and a television card in my pc. The tv card is way cool, let me tell you. Now if I had a refrigerator in reach I'd never have to leave my room. Hmmm. On the other hand, I'd need a bathroom, too, wouldn't I

Dad got home about an hour ago. He's been in Arkansas since early January, so I'll need to get used to the extra noise again.

I WILL make the effort to be more faithful during the week.

Hugs to all

Labor was successful........... I finally birthed an acceptable lesson set. To be honest, I was about to decide that it was going to be an ugly baby, but in the end, it's not too bad. Of course, that is all assuming that the kids did their reading and do what they are supposed to do.

I'm sure that postings will be limited again this week. I'll have a computer with me, but the Weston hotel only has free internet in the lobby. I'll have to schlep it down in the evenings to try to catch up. I am to cheap to pay the $12.95 per day that they charge for service in the room. That's not a charge that will be reimbursed.

Have a good week if I don't have the opportunity to check on "all y'all". I leave Tuesday morning and will return on Saturday night. "Y'all be good, now."

Night everyone! I really should have been in bed 1/2 hour ago (at
least) but thought I'd stop by. Had such a great day! Church
went well with my 2 & 3 year old Sunday School class, came
home and finished oldest sons room and he is so happy! It is
so organized and Grandpa brought over a stereo for him we
hooked up tonight. DS and little brother were just dancing
away to Disney classic's. I just love Mary Poppins! Grandpa made
us the cd and I'm going to borrow it tomorrow while I'm babysitting.
The little kids and I can dance and I can sing away. They won't
know that I can't carry a tune. Just gone done a bit ago on my
elliptical and lower body weight training. Full day! See you all
tomorrow!
- - - - -
Shelley - Cottoncandy pink!! Pretty in pink is what you
will be.

Peg - Sorry to feel your body is not feeling it's best. I'd
say maybe it's waiting for spring but I bet it's just beautiful
where you are at.

BC - Shopping, taco's, video card...glad to hear that you had
a agreat day.

Judy - have a good week!

I'm pooped but happy...it was so good to get out of this little hick town and actually be around some people!

Barb: The town we go to shop is called "Kamloops". It's a native word meaning ....meeting of the waters. If you look it up on the map, you'll see it east of Ashcroft.

Heather: No, the guy dd was going out with sure hasn't anything to do with her doing so good. He turned out to be an a**hole who used her, and brought home another woman while she was there. Good riddance to him. I'm sure he didn't help her though.

Well, the back of the truck was pretty full when we got home. Got everything on my list and some. Although shopping with dh I didn't get a chance to even look at the clothes. It's so much nicer to hit those departments without men around. When it came time for me to go to Michaels he got a little huffy so I told him to stay in the truck and have a nap! Managed to drop over $150 there without him around. But, I've been doing so much scrapbooking that my supplies were low. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Peg: Hope you're feeling better soon. Too much stress lately?

Sorry to cut this short tonight, but I'm really tired and it's late (10:30) Just about bedtime. Back tomorrow.

Monday morning. Wow, they roll around fast! We should be getting a weather warm-up this week.

Donna, now that you tell me the town name, I don't remember ever hearing it before. I see it on the map now. Glad you made a good haul, even if your "chauffeur" got impatient.

Judy, Have a good trip. I'm sure the lesson plan will work out fine, but the kids will miss YOU delivering it.

Nurse Shelley, what's a good cure--and preventive--for those painful little splits I get in my thumbprint near the nail? Is this a consequence of dry skin? Feels like I'm always slathering cream on my hands. Maybe I don't have the right one yet. Okay, skin experts. What shall I buy?

I really messed up my thumb trying to screw in the brackets for the window covering I took down to have the window replaced. I examined them carefully before I removed them, but then, could I remember how to put 'em back up??? Took me a lot of effort and one or two four-letter words, but I finally figured it out. In this case, dh couldn't be much help.

The movie "Amazing Grace" is intense, with powerful characters and a big history lesson about slave-trade abolitionists in Britain at the beginning of the 19th century. William Wilberforce died in 1833. Between this movie and "King of Scotland" (which I saw on Friday), I'm done with social history for a while. However, I'm sipping my fair trade coffee (which we purchase through a church mission) thinking that at least one form of exploitation in the world has been diminished a little.

Teel, what are you up to these days? Rachel?

Alida, truth is, my reaction to that eclipse was kinda like Bob's. But I did enjoy explaining it to the guy who was putting in our window--he was still at it after moonrise--and he was intrigued.

Well, onward and sideways, as my dh is fond of saying. Be well.

Good morning!

Barb, I love that saying ... Onwards and Sideways. Does seem like it sometimes, doesn't it?

LOL about forgetting how the screws go in. I do that, too.

Hmmm, thumb skin splitting? Sounds like your hands could be in something they are allergic to? Have you asked your doctor about it? Bag/Tiger balm? Or just Vaseline at night with gloves while you sleep? Paraffin bath? I hope our resident Nurse Shelley has a clue!

I want to see "Amazing Grace." May wait until out on DVD, though. Bob and I rented 4 movies this weekend. We had a coupon for Blockbuster ... $1.99 per movie. So it was a marathon movie weekend. I have to say, I love those DVDs -- the captions are fantastic. Both of us actually "hear" everything. It's funny how they even caption sounds. But that would be wonderful for the truly deaf.

Judy, yea! You had a successful birth! Have a great time in St. Louis. I know you mentioned what this trip was for but ... CRS. Care to refresh my memory?

Your "Southern" e-mail took me back to the time when I was dating a guy from Kentucky. This was when I was in Rome. Nothing funnier than hearing him speak Italian with a southern accent. Buon giorno y'all.

Shelley, ah, you did snag a dinner date last night. Good for you! You have HDTV too? Son Mark loves his. He says the picture is really amazing. For now, we'll mosey along with our old TV. And it is old. Probably about 23 years old. But it was top of the line back then, and in a great cabinet. I always wondered why they don't make TVs in their own furniture cabinet any more. When this one goes, not only will we have to buy the TV, but something to put it on, too.

Peg, sorry you are feeling sorta punk. I hope you will be feeling better soon. Yikes! You "restored" your system successfully? You get a giant Gold Star for that one!

Brenda, a TV card for your computer? Sounds Fabe! I let my subscription to my computer magazine lapse. I didn't even know there was such a thing! Can you explain it? I take it you have to have the video card with it?

Dad's home? Ah. Patience.

Heather, sounds like you had a great weekend! Dancing to Mary Poppins! That counts as exercise in my book.

It's late so I need to get the old bod moving. I hope the house where I work is "bug" free by now. I successfully dodged strep and a bad cold. This week is pay week. So that means trying to get all the route sheets reconciled and into the computer. We also have to close the month. That's always a PITA. Have a good week, ya' hear?

It's a high of 49 today! When it finally reaches 60 I'm going to open all the
windows and air out this place. For today I have my babysitting, dishes/laundry/chores,
want to tackle my youngest closet again for a more thorough decluttering, elliptical,
weight training (uppper body), help oldest with homework if needed, dinner and then
that should be about it. My stepsister is coming over sometime today to drop off
some things. She announced last night that her and nephew will be moving this
weekend! She had been saying this summer so wonder what could have happened she
would take out her kindergardener so soon. Could she have had a fallen out with her
boyfriend? My mom and stepdad who she was living with to the end of the year? Although
sometimes she makes hard times for herself mostly she's hasn't been able to control what
life has thrown her way. Hope that where ever she goes she can finally be happy
and forgive God since she tells me she is angry with Him.

- - - - - -

Donna - Glad that your dd is rid of that bum! // Glad to hear that you got all
you needed on your in town shopping trip!

Barb - Weather warm up here to! Can't wait to get some more walking under my belt.
Onward and sideways! I plan on saying that to DH as he heads out the door today.

Alida - Mary Poppins is just lovely isn't she? // I just think it's amazing that
you can do your own hair coloring. I tried that once and it was a horrible mess
that I believe DH had to fix and then of course he took the job from then on.

side note to Barb,
Ouch on the split skin in the thumb area. I get the ailment, especially in the winter.
Here's my cure: apply some bacitricin ointment to the cracked open areas, let it soak in, then follow with a lotion or hand creme high in lanolin, like utter/bag balm. If you can't find the lanolin enriched creams, Neutrogena's Norwegian formula is pretty good. I've even taken a blob of hand creme and added a blob of the antibiotic ointment to it and slathered it all over my hands...especially paying close attention to the splits and cuticles.]
I've had the split skin so bad that my thumbs will crack open and bleed. One time, I bought some liquid bandage(the stuff that's like second skin); it feels funny, but kept the skin edges together and gave my thumbs a chance to heal.
Good luck!

side to Alida...we don't have HDTV...but I do watch HGTV. We're in the same boat...when our current TV goes ka-put, we'll have to buy the whole shebang...tv AND something to put it on(ours is like a piece of furniture also)...sigh. Always something...LOL.

Off to do some housey chores, but first a bite of breakfast!

later, chickadees!

Thanks, Shelley. I actually have a bottle of Australian moisturizing cream with lanolin on my desk. I'll just use it wa-a-a-y more often. And come to think of it, I have some of that Skin Glue, too. I'll remember to use that as well. Thanks!

Alida, the last time we bought a tv we dumped our cabinet console. It was still a working tv at the time, and we persuaded Disabled Vets to pick it up. DH was out of town at the time (attending to his aging aunt). I went to the electronics store, bought the new tv and a good-looking cabinet/storage unit, which I assembled by myself. It was SO heavy. My nephew helped me bring in the boxes. The only thing I couldn't do was lift the tv into the cabinet. Eventually, we'll have to decide how to accommodate an HDTV/flat screen job. But hopefully not for another decade or so.

Heather, my new kitchen window has a built-in screen, so we can open up to the fresh air, too. I think the cats will love it.

Hi gals. Decided I'd get here before I start fizzing around, or I know I won't get back for a while. Good morning to all of you!

Judy,
you couldn't make an ugly baby of any type Glad the lesson planning is over so that you can look forward to your trip more. I'll be thinking of you.

When I was 16 I spent the summer at Interlocken in Michigan. Having lived in Mississippi and other deep South states for 7 years I found I could understand everyone, but no one could understand me! I evidently had assimilated well. Still, there is nothing more beautiful than a gracious southern voice--perhaps with the exception of the BIG HAIR types--you know what I mean, LOL!

Barb, I don't get those split fingers often, but they do hurt! Glad to hear the window and door project was a success, and window covering replaced, too. Can't tell you how many times I've done the exact same thing--thought I understood exactly how something goes back together and then ?????? Why is it that loose parts look entirely different?

Alida, this TV card is amazing. It's actually a TV, Video/Sound Player (like Quicktime), FM Radio, and more that I haven't figured out yet. There's an online TV guide at your finger tips, it can record and play back like a Tivo, or take screen shots of a picture on tv and save it to a gallery. You can use the whole screen or like I'm using it with the tv in a small box in the corner and the rest of the screen free to use as usual.

I already had a video card that would have worked just fine, but dh had a better one I inherited at the same time. Yes, you'd need a video card that meet the requirements of the TV (or Multimedia card, as they call it), but not a specific brand. And you'd need TV cable access nearby. The board itself has a cable connector. It's really neato. Something I didn't know existed either until dh suggested it.

Shell, congrats on the unexpected dinner out. Those are nice surprises when dh suggests them without the usual hinting needed (around here, anyway)

Donna, congrats on the haul you made in town! Yes, of course you needed more scrapbooking supplies! Never too many supplies for a great hobby of any kind, is there.

Heather, I'm jealous of your possible 49 degree high today! We're still below freezing and with high winds predicted again for this afternoon. Ok, where the heck is Spring!

Peg, what's up today. Is this a Spanish class day? CRS. Is your pc playing nice now?

TB, Rach, Bert, waves and hugs!
____________________________________
I think I may have found one of those weird cures. I had a patch of eczema appear on my face a couple of weeks ago. Sometimes in winter I get a patch on my thigh(???) but sheesh, on my face? It was red, scaly and unlovely. About 3 days of looking at it, I thought about readers of Dr. Gott's newspaper column recommending Vicks Vaporub for psoriasis and toe fungus , so what the heck, right? Long story short, after a couple of days of dotting this spot with Vicks whenever I remembered I could tell it was disappearing, and after five days it was completely gone. Usually my thigh spot I get will last all winter. Of course, it could all be a coincidence too!

Off to clean house a bit, then work out and perhaps hit a couple of stores on the way back. I'm on a roll!
