| Good morning! I think the show was a success. Got off to a rocky start. The booth we got from 3M was a type Bob and I have never worked with. First, there's a wire "cage" that expands. Bob and I were expanding it horizontally and wondering how the hell it works. Then a nice gentleman came by and showed us that it expands vertically. DUH. The you have to stick in spacers and the attach magnetic side bars. That did me in because the side bars kept falling down, once on my face. Ending up taping some. THEN you attach these fabric panels that have a magnetic backing which sticks to the magnetic side bars. Sounds simple, huh? NOT. The signage that was included has a velcro backing that sticks to the fabric panels. When you put the signage up (crooked) and have to remove to realign, the fabric panels would fall down (twice on my head). I know we were missing a crucial element to the set-up but NO INSTRUCTIONS that really helped. Then I glance over to the next booth and notice the sign. It's for our ARCH RIVAL! Now competition is good, but this would be very uncomfortable. After much haggling with the show coordinator, she agreed to move him four booths over. Whew. So now it's a wait and see game. How many calls will we get? ~~~~~~~~~~~ Shelley -- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Will you be celebrating this weekend? Do you share anniversary gifts? Enjoy your off today today. And welcome to Induction Central. I cheated yesterday. I was so exhausted by the time we got to Applebee's ... I ordered pasta. I needed COMFORT. I just had a thought, though. What I really needed was bodily comfort like a massage, NOT mental comfort like food. I have to remember the consequences of wrong choices made when defenses are down. A carb choice consciously made is different. Then you accept the consequences and are in a better frame of mind to accept them and get back on plan. So today, it's back on plan. I was finally in ketosis, too, before yesterday! Donna, HAPPY BIRTHING DAY! Did you call your son yet? How did it go? Spider Man sheets will be a HIT! As for GA -- was it just me, or did you find the spin-off with Addison annoying? I didn't know she was a dingbat. And did anyone else find Meredith's step mother's death scene off-kilter? Didn't she realize when her father hit her it was a reaction of pure grief? Oh well. I guess she will need 3-4 more episodes to work that out. Maybe I am missing something. Barb, thanks for the recipe. It's so easy! I never noticed a reaction to coconut oil, but I will heed your warning. And KUDOS to you for maintaining so beautifully! You worked so hard to get to this point. "She was apologetic, but dh was apoplectic..." That's why you are da writer! When will you know the results of the test? NITA, CONGRATULATIONS on your induction loss so far. You are doing great! I remember when I was on OWL. I stayed at 20 carbs for a very long time (about 6 months). I never really went over 25 to 30 carbs. I found that was a good zone for me for a slow but steady weight loss. Heather, were you able to get your son's medicine increased? It must be hard. A balancing act for sure. And it sounds like you are slowly getting back into your exercise mode! I'm glad you are feeling better. It's late -- HELLO to everyone I missed. You are ALL in my thoughts! XXOO

| Friday morning....yay. This weekend is supposed to be beautiful weather so you all know where I will be getting dirty. lol Alida: I was really disappointed in Grey's last night. I didn't think they needed an extra hour to tell us Addison couldn't have a baby. Personally, I don't watch the show to see her. It didn't help that dh came home from his ballgame at 9:30 and talked his way through the rest of the show *sheesh*. Survivor didn't tell me anything I didn't think would happen either. It was Alex' turn and we knew that last week. He did try to get something going though. Barb: The scales must have been afraid of me cause they dropped a whole 1/2 lb. I know I'm not eating right...not enough fresh veggies or water. But, it's that time of year when I'm running to and from ballgames or when I'm home I'm trying to get the yard in shape. Last nights dinner was a joke....2 sausages and some left over yukky salad. I did make myself a OMM at about 9 p.m. Heather: You sure do get the exercising in. If I only had the spare time I'd love to do it too. I'm hoping tonight I can get my walking in. Last night I just ran out of time by the time I had the grass cut...although I was up and down all night moving the sprinkler. Shelley: I think you said you had today off? Hope so for you! It will give you time to get some more rest after being so sick. Where are you going for dinner this weekend? Brenda: Are you caught up on the reading yet? We can be a chatty bunch sometimes. Okay, I know you guys are wanting to know this. I did call my ds....and got the answering machine. So, I left a very nice message wishing him a happy birthday and telling him I would call back later. He called me just before noon. (bad timing, I wanted to talk longer, but I was soooo hungry). Anyway, we had a very nice talk...didn't talk about his sister. I found out he's still on disability (due to a surgery for a hernia) and won't be going back to work until May 14th. He also said his son will love the Spiderman sheets and comforter *whew*. So, I guess all is okay with him. Of course, I could hear his wife in the background yapping away telling him what to say to me. Maybe someday I will get to talk to him without her butting in. I'll leave that one alone for now though. It's now been over 2 weeks since dd has called me. I have no idea if she is drinking or not or what she is doing. I do know that she is going to work. Dh doesn't seem to have any complaints anyway. I'm finding it much easier to get on with my day without worrying about her. What I learned by reading at the AlAnon site has made it easier for me. I still think about her....a lot....but I'm learning not to worry...nothing I could do anyway. I've been nagging dh for 3 weeks now that my tire has a slow leak. He keeps putting air in it. Why not take the damned thing in and get it looked at before I get a flat??? Now my car is sitting outside my office and the stupid tire is very close to flat. I called him and said *@#!!)! We'll see if he comes and gets it and takes it to the repair shop before noon. If he knows what's good for him he will. (gee, I like it when I sound tough! lol) Have a good day everyone!!

| Ha! I win. Dh just came and got my car to get the tire checked. What power I have over him.....ya, right! He got the results of his blood tests and the meds that he is taking to lower his cholesterol is making all his muscles inflamed. That should explain the sore hands, and arms and sore legs after baseball. Now he's going to start Lipotor tonight. Didn't I see that it has some side effects. Gotta check that out. His blood pressure was a little high and they sent him for tests for h.pylori. Wish my results would come back...it would probably explain the terrible pain in my stomach until I eat something and then it goes away.

| Oh my goodness........ I am so far behind posting and back reading. Please excuse me for the short comments. Donna, I have taken Lipitor for years --- absolutely no problems of any kind. I hope it works for your DH. Alida, hope the show produces good results. Next time see if you can download instructions from the internet. Barb, I agree, you have a definite way with words. Nita, everything here is totally a sponge. We have had LOTS of rain this week. More than one night we had to shut down and unplug the electronics to save them from the storms. DD has gotten the worst of the weather, though. She is just north west of the Dallas City limits. They have had siren alerts twice lately and she was without electricity for 5 hours earlier in the week. Like you, we'll be wishing for some of this rain in July. Heather, I missed wishing you a Happy Birthday a few days ago. So, here?s belated good wishes from me. Shelley, Happy belated anniversary wishes to you. We have 35 years of partnership. Berta , How?s the patient doing? How are the reunion plans coming. You?re busy!! As you might guess, we?re going back to Dallas tomorrow. This time there is only a small amount of work to do. DD has computer/router issues after her storms. I think we will probably get some face time with little Miss O, and will go by to visit my dad. School is on the downhill slide. Graduation is 3 weeks from today. This is ?the best of times and the worst of times.? But, the best of it all is that you can see the end from here.

| Howdy everyone!! Been a productive day which I love. Mailed my brother's birthday gifts out to him. He'll be 28 May 31st. Mailed my stepmother's day gift and card. Went grocery shopping for lots of healthy things and coconut oil to try out Barb's recipe. Got in an hour of elliptical, upper body weight training and will be walking ds home to school in just a bit. When I get back it's a quick clean of the house before M's grandpa picks her up. Need to get the dishes done. Oh! I made tofu biscuits today. I had them for my starch servings today which was wonderful. We bought some sloppy Joe sauce and lemon icing so the family can finish the rest off today. ------------------------- Barb - I bought coconut oil. 1st step complete. Alida - It went from 20 mg to 30mg for my little ADHD boy's medication. We'll go back in a month for a check up on this dose. // That is so good of the coordinator to move your rival away. That could have been uncomfortable. Donna - Don't feel bad about cutting grass over walking. I'm pretty sure that mowing burns more calories. Then you worked the glutes each time you squatted down to move the sprinkler. Judy - Thanks for my birthday greeting! Are you getting anxious for the summer and school to get out? Do you get free time? |

| This is quick -- just to let you know I am alive. I am having lunch with a dear friend today and I have to work on an ad for the Yellow Pages (formerly Feist). Or is it the Yellow Book? I get them all confused. But not to be confused with AT&T yellow pages. Anyhoo, they are all yellow! Nita, I bought some St. John's Wort yesterday. I'll let you know if my mood has improved! Donna, I am so glad DS called back and you have a good talk and that the Spider Man sheets got a green light .... Judy! So good to hear from you. Graduation is three weeks away? I can understand "best of times, worst of times." To get from here to there will take a lot of work, but you can SEE the there! Shelley, pale pink already? You get into Ketosis quick. Congrats for getting off to a great start! Heather, here's hoping DS's increased dosage has the desired effect! Got to run. I got up late after a restless night. I ended up taking two big pain pills. I think I am going to plan on August for the new hip. Have a great weekend everyone! XXOO

| Saturday morning! I slept in a little bit--but I was dreaming of being awake, so it doesn't count. I dreamed that dh had fallen in the bathroom in the night, and cracked the tiles in the wall. Funny--I was more worried about the renovations than the possible injury. In the dream, that is. A couple days ago, I noticed that dh had a flyer promoting the "miracle benefits" of DHEA. Apparently, it came in one of his collector magazines. I asked if he was interested in trying it, and he said he might. Well, it just so happens that Dr. Barb has a stash of DHEA in her personal pharmacy, so I gave him a bottle (same dosage as in the ad). The next day, he said, "I don't know if it's the stuff or not, but this is the first day I actually felt hungry enough to get up and eat something on my own." Miracle drug indeed! Even if it only worked on his mental state, it WORKED. Never understimate the power of a placebo on a believer. Then again, maybe it IS a miracle drug. It never seemed to do a thing for me, which is why I still have it. All things work together for good.... (As you may recall, the Milkthistle was a disaster...but that was MY suggestion. The DHEA he arrived at on his own. Makes all the difference!) Workouts this morning, a little housekeeping, and a grocery run to the health food store. I'm almost out of ingredients for my OMMs. Alida, I'm glad you've picked a target date for your hip surgery. The anticipation will pull you along. You must have been a supreme diplomat to get the booth rearrangement at that show. I'm guessing that your competitor wasn't very happy about having to relocate--especially if their display was as ornery to put up as yours. Donna, you've just got one plague after another. You go ahead and attract them all away from me, okay? Really, it's not fun...or funny. I'm sorry your dh is having trouble with the cholesterol meds. My friend who takes them really has a struggle finding one that works and doesn't make her feel worse. Fifty years from now, medical science--such as it is--may decide that the whole cholesterol flap was NOT the real problem. But for now, the docs have to go with what they think they know, and so do we. Berta, take care of you while your patient is mending. Wonder where our Peg is at this moment? Hopefully smooth sailing. Have a good weekend everybody. |

| Hi guys, Just got back from all my *beautification* appts today...LOL. I'm pleased to announce I am polished, waxed, sheared and styled...LOL. Like I said, it takes a lot to keep an old broad presentable Barb...I second the idea of *I think it will work...hey, it DOES work* for Larry. The power of suggestion is a powerful thing. Glad he was moved to take in some calories. Alida...I'm also glad to hear you are going to get the hip taken care of. Let us know all the details(via email), 'cause you know you will have all kinds of good thoughts and wishes and cards headed your way when the time comes. Judy...hope you find things in good shape in Dallas. Also, you know we wanna see a pic of Ms O! Hope you got a good long gramma visit in Heather...bet you have a busy weekend all lined up. Donna...playing ball this weekend or did you say you were going to stay home and do some gardening???...CRS Bren, Nita, Peg, Teel, Bert, Rach...missing you all! I was down another 1.5 pounds this morning...I'll take it! So, down 2.5 since Thursday, I think, and the stix are darker pink today. Life is good! Off to wrangle dinner...left over smoked beef brisket and some LC slaw. Cheese and olives for a snack later in the evening...a no brainer for me later chickadees! (((hugs))) Shell

| And a good Sunday morning to all. Shelley, sounds like you had a fine pampering extravaganza. I'm sure your beautification experts are delighted with the naturally beautiful "material" they get to work with. :gorgeous: I got my hair cut on Thursday--new person. She was pleasant and did a good job. I am the non-fussiest hair client on the block. I mean, as long as the end result suits me. I do remember abandoning a new haircutter last year when he just didn't listen. Yesterday I did a few errands--found myself in the neighborhood of Kohl's and remembered that I earned a ten dollar rebate when I bought those jeans last week. Luckily, I had it with me. So...I spent it on a nice pair of Lee casual pants. Lee is as good as their advertising as far as I'm concerned. They cut their pants for actual women. Even short ones. Sunday school, church, then off to see my dad today. Not much excitement, but that'll do. Judy, hope things aren't too wet where you are in Dallas. Nita, hope you're not getting tornadoes in your neighborhood. SW Kansas took a fatal hit yesterday, and I consider that close enough. Everybody tuning in, be well. |

| Good morning! Thunder Boomers going on as I write this and the rain is pouring down. And today I wanted to go to the garden center. Maybe this afternoon if all this quits. I didn't have my lunch yesterday with my friend. When I called her she had to cancel. Same time, next Saturday. Shelley: What a fun day you must have had with all that pampering! I always enjoy going to my hairdresser. A little gossip is fun. And he always has a new joke or two. WOOHOO on your continued Induction progress! Barb: I should know what DHEA is ... but CRS. How wonderful DH feels it's working! As for the arch rival and his "booth" .... he didn't have one. All he did was put a brochure on a table, LOL! I had signs, brochures, film samples, the whole kit and kaboodle. He cast an evil eye or two over at us. Lee Jeans have always fit me well, too. Do you get the Petite size? I spent the AM ordering a few things on line. Sizes are always a crap shoot. Travel Smith and Appleseeds ... various tops (tunics!). Next is Land's End for some casual, comfy shoes. Off to do more shopping. And my credit card was starting to get down. No more! XXOO

| Hi guys, Looks like it is another bumpy day weather wise for western OOOOklahoma and southwest Kansas. It looks like Greenburg is getting severe weather AGAIN for the 3rd day in a row. My heart goes out to all the residents there...so devastating. Alida...how funny...we both hit Land's end for some online shopping this morning! I scored 2 tunics, some red sport thong sandals and 2 polo's for DH from the overstock page. I need to shift some of his *out to dinner* shirts over to the work side of his closet and toss some of the work shirts that are beginning to fade a bit. Barb...I LOVE Lee jeans also. My favorite pair at the current time are stonewashed stretch jeans, bootcut. They are very comfy! And the white pin-tuck tunic I ordered this morning will go just fine with those jeans DH and I lowered our purple martin house this morning because we saw a stinkin' starling going in and out of a compartment where we knew a female martin had started to nest. Just as we suspected...the starling had killed the female martin!...argh! We evicted 2 sparrow's who had started to build nests as well. Again, I say....I HATE starlings!!!! DH and I are going on our anniv dinner date this evening. I've had about 10 carbs so far today, so I think I can have a lovely prime rib dinner with a side of broccoli for 10 carbs(or less). Life is good! Everyone else...be well...keep an eye to the sky if you are in an area that's seeing BIG weather. The way it's rapidly heating up here today with all the unstable, moist air, we are under a tornado watch. This tornado season has certainly been an active one. later, chickadees! (((hugs to all))) Shelley

| Howdy gang!! Took 8 yr old ds garage sailing yesterday and bought mostly clothes for myself, catching kid gloves for charlie and M, sandals for Charlie, a cup for my stepmom, Jay picked out his own toys AND MY FAVORITE a non-electric treadmill!! *see picture below* The electric ones are to dangerous for my little ones to be around right now so when I saw this one for a steal of $20 that could fit in my car I was sold. I'm typing right now, using my elbows for support and walking away. My DH says I need to stop collecting exercise equipment. lol I use to collect unhealthy recipes, food and sedentary things like movies and crafts so this really is better. I'll listen though because we're running out of room for my toys. Tonight I'm going to watch TV and walk on this in the living room. Shelley - Thanks for reopening the PODO thread. What does it stand for? Alida - Did I mention that I have grandmother's on both sides that had surgeries for bad hips? Sometimes while walking mine acts up already and my brother has mentioned the same. His back has similar problems so I'm betting he has scoliosis like me. You can't get in any sooner for your surgery? I bet after you heal you'll be wishing you did it a long time ago. Sorry you have to go through so much in the meantime. Good things for good drugs eh? Barb - That is so great to hear about the DHEA and your DH's hunger!! Woo hoo! Description FEATURES

| Hi guys....good to hear from everyone after reading the paper and seeing the terrible winds that hit around Kansas. 200+ miles per hour it said! I thought of you Barb and you Alida right off. Glad to see you posted today. I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Yesterday I spent the whole day outside gardening. Hit two garden centres and bought a few perennials. Not as many as I would have liked....just don't trust the weather yet. Then today I did some more painting...finally got the picnic table done....and started the columns holding up the roof on the patio. I spent about 3 hours painting and decided to quit cause my arms were so sore. Instead of relaxing I ended up doing more gardening. Just a sucker for punishment. Then I did my 3 mile walk before the wind started up. Now, I'm just sitting and finally relaxing before the final episode of Amazing Race in half an hour. Believe it or not dd called me on Friday afternoon. She said she hadn't called because she was embarrassed, but she's been sticking to the AA program and still waiting for rehab. I told her I was glad that she was doing that, but I didn't want to be involved in that part of her life anymore. She understood. Maybe the fact that I've pulled away from her will make her realize that she's going to be totally alone if she doesn't clean up her act will make her rethink her way of life. Barb: Isn't that something that Larry just decided to eat on his own after taking the DHEA (whatever that is). Hope the eating continues. Dh bought me some coconut oil and I made a batch of coconut bark. I think maybe my cocoa powder was old cause it left a terrible taste in my mouth. I'll get some new cocoa and try it again. Heather: I have a treadmill like that and I hate it. (sorry). When dh put it together he did something to the tension and I can't even get the stupid thing to move properly. I'm thinking I'm going to either trade it in or just buy an electric one that I can use in the winter. In the meantime, I'm still pounding the pavement every night doing about 3 miles a night. Alida: Hope that hip is feeling better today. Did you make it to the garden centre? Peg: Happy sails! I think it should be just about time you get home and tell us all that went on. Brenda: All is well with you, yes? Shelley: How was that dinner? Prime rib sounds soooo good. I had a terrible eating day today. Not off plan....just not good. I think maybe I'm a bit more nervous about getting my leg done tomorrow than I though I was. I only have to work until noon and then I'm off to town. If all goes well....I'll be heading to a GOOD nursery and finding the plants that I want (I'm looking for a trumpet vine). Then I want to find a metal park bench for the front yard. And then....I hear Michaels is now carrying a new line of Martha Stewart scrapbooking supplies and I just want to "look" Ya, right. lol So, guys I probably won't be posting tomorrow. Not enough time in the morning if I'm going to get any work done before I leave. Wish me luck!!
