The rain continues to pour down. Our basement is getting a bit damp (!) but at least it isn't coming in from the top anywhere that I know of. How are you doing, Alida?

Don't drive through any deep water. It's amazing how many idiots don't THINK before they drive into water of unknown depth.

Heather, good luck with that treadmill. My mom had one of those, and it was more like Donna's--almost impossible to get it moving. This will be a lot more of a workout than a powered one. Good for younger legs.

Speaking of workouts, just reading about your day in the garden makes my muscles hurt, Donna. And by the way, your words about your dd illustrate the principle of "detachment"--it is NOT unloving, just putting some space in there. Well done.

I stayed up too late last night--watching new episodes of Cold Case and Without a Trace. I shouldn't do that, since I'm the queen of reruns, and everything comes around again sooner or later. As a consequence, I shut off the alarm, and went back to sleep for an hour. No workout this morning. And just when I need it most. I'm feeling very blobbish--I'm sure I've taken on water.

Off to work. Have a good week everybody.

Good morning!

Barb, I got up late this morning, too. That was quite a rain yesterday, wasn't it? So, no trip to the nursery. But our basement is DRY. Maybe we solved the problem? Actually, I won't totally relax until we get the sump pump hooked up to a generator so it can still work if the electricity goes out. Some day this rain will end I will start complaining about watering the lawn.

Shelley: so you scored too at Lands' End? LOL. Like minds! It sounds like you are taking Induction more seriously than I am --- actually counting your carbs. How did your Anniversary Date go? I think steak and broccoli are excellent choices! What does your week look like? Working?

Heather, I was going to write "another treadmill" when I remembered you have an elliptical, not a treadmill. If the thing works, I'd say you are set!

Actually, my hip started acting up about 7-8 years ago. At that time there was no pain, just a feeling like my hip had glue in it. I didn't know you had scoliosis. Did you get it as a child? Is it taken care of now, or do you still have problems?

Donna, reading your post made me tired. Is the painting done yet? How much more do you have to do? Didn't make it to the nursery (see above). Maybe next week. Bob said he would go and buy the edging today. Even though I have a picture, any bets on whether or not he buys the right stuff?

And your daughter called! That's wonderful news. I think you are handling the whole situation very well. Any word on rehab?

I have to get ready. Have a wonderful week everyone! XXOO

Just had to stop in for my daily fix before I leave for town to get my leg done.
Only an hour to go. Gotta love short days at work.

Alida: I figure another 4 - 5 hours and the painting will be done. The next part will have to be done on a ladder....you're better at that than me....how about coming over and helping?

Shelley: Thanks for the good wishes....I'm sure everything will be fine. I'll be wrapped up tight for three days and then the worst will be over. You guys can't get rid of me that easily.

Better get going....talk to you all tomorrow.

per my journal entry today:

Quote:
more storms today; under a tornado watch at the present time, along with a flash flood watch... We got 3.3 inches of rain over night. More has fallen today.

DH and I did make it to the feed store for more bird seed...2, 50# bags...one for the wild birds in general, and some black oil sf seeds for the cardinals.
The bunny was back again this morning...eating some of the cracked corn that fell out of the bird feeder. It was such a sweet, sweet site to see the bunny with a mourning dove not more than 4-5 inches away...both eating peacefully and unaffected by each other. I think we could sometimes learn a few things from the animal world...

BIG surprise...down another pound this morning...I'll take it!!! Total since 3/24 is down 8.5#. Probably would have been more if I hadn't had tonsillitis for 8 days and lived on soups, juice and milkshakes...that were NOT LC!!!...shame on me!
Alida and Donna...the prime rib was most excellent! The table next to us ordered desserts...oh my! Thank God I was able to *stay focused*...and not on that 3 inch high, honker huge piece of cheesecake the lady was having!!

Barb...we didn't get to see Without a Trace last night because we were having tornadoes and severe t-storms all around us and our local weather guys were continually broadcasting weather updates, alerts and advisories.
There was some amazing doppler read outs...inflows, hook echoes, the whole works. TTL for our meteorologists here. They definitely earned their money.

(((hugs))) to everyone missing from our group...and an extra hug for you, Donna, as you have your procedure today

Off to check on the weather situation...looking very dark and ugly outside.

later, chickadees.

Good morning, m'dears. Donna--how now? Everything go well?

Shelley, we're watching OOOOklahoma, too. Our news showed a tornado touching down in OKC, so I'll be watching THIS SPACE for your safety report. Prime rib is my favorite beef.

Oh, and about the animal kingdom...if that bunny had been a CAT, the mourning dove wouldn't have been so peaceful. So much for Mother Nature.

I hate watching the violence on the news. I just don't "get" war--or street shootings either. The world is full of beauty to enjoy and delightful things to do--isn't it, Peg? And I can't understand why humanity gets so far off track. But that takes me back to Mother Nature, who isn't doing us any favors these days either. Ah well.

Back to our regularly-scheduled life. Take care everybody.

Good morning!

DONNA, ((HUGS)) to you today! I hope the procedure goes well and you'll be digging in the dirt again real soon. I vaguely remember when I joined this group. At that time, you were bed-bound and going crazy waiting until you could get back to your garden. Is this the same procedure? Were you in a cast last time? Sorry. CRS.

SHELLEY, you are doing GREAT! And you are an inspiration! I have to stop playing with Induction and start going by the book. I am eating berries, nuts and cottage cheese ... all good foods but not for induction!

The sun finally came out yesterday. I am not sure if it will be out again today. They are predicting more rain.

BARB, LOL about that bunny being a cat. Birds must be born with inner radar re: cats.

Have a wonderful day everyone. Missing you, Brenda. And Peg should be heading home about now?? Judy, going nuts with end-of-school stuff? And dear Rachel -- find a house yet? Heather, Dot, Nita -- HELLO! XXOO

Morning gang,
I'm here...after a very *bumpy* night weather wise. I am more than likely going to shut down in a few minutes. Severe T-storms again this morning...ack! We are under a flash flood warning today. It's been a long, long time since we've had this much rain for so many days in a row. Our ground is already super saturated so it's all running off into the streets. Most of the storm drains are full as well as clogged up with debris...small tree limbs, mud, trash...you name it.

As far as I know, we did NOT have a tornado here in OKC, but one did touch down just to the east of us Sunday night. Unless one occured on the other side of the metro that I don't know about...which could be a real possibility, as I've not read the morning paper yet.

Thunder is louder and lightening is BIG...gotta shut down and go hunker

Everyone be well....
(((hugs to all)))

Howdy gang!! Typing as I walk on the treadmill. Yesterday I did get in my exercise but was depressed that evening, my brother & sister-in-law are divorcing. They have a home to 3 kids so this is truly tragic. Hoping and praying that they are able to get counseling and work this out. // Today I'm watching M and will hang out with my DH tonight since he has the evening off. In an hour we'll walk ds home from school. It's 80 degrees outside so we'll be sure to put on the sunscreen.

-----------------------

Shelley - Oh!! PODO = Pounds down - lol. Must be working, congratulations on another pound gone!

Donna - No problem, my sister said that same thing. She had a friend who had a treadmill like this, tried it and hated it. // Hope that the day goes well for you. Will be anxiously waiting for your next post.

Barb - This treadmill is not as easy as an electric one so it's a great workout, you're right. I sweat big time while on it. Hope that you have a good day my exercise friend.

Alida - My mom said that a doctor had said I had scoliosis when I was 12 but I don't remember. It's not serious like some people have so my mom decided against the back brace. She was afraid that it was going to be more of an embarrassment to me. // I've never had the glue feeling inside my hip. Just an ache.

Judy - hope all is well!

Peg - Can't wait to see the pics of your tan and vacation.

I'm back....at work....and I shouldn't be here. I woke up this morning with a very, very swollen leg and more pain than I can remember having before. Most of the veins that were fixed were around and over my kneecap so the tensor bandage had to be really tight around the knee...cutting off the circulation. As soon as I get a bit more work done here I am going home and putting my leg up! I had to wear my Crocs to work cause I couldn't get a shoe on.....pretty classy all right.

I did manage to get some major shopping done at the nursery in town. I'm sooooo excited. I found a trumpet vine and also bought a jasmine vine. It had a couple of blooms on it and sitting in the back seat of the truck....it just filled the truck with the most wonderful scent. Can you imagine what it's going to smell like when it grows bigger? Can't wait! Also found a blue hosta....just gorgeous. Doesn't take much to make me happy....just a few new plants.

Peg: Hey....glad to see you back and tanned and happy. Can't wait to hear about the trip.

Alida: No...no cast....just a very uncomfortable and hot tensor bandage with other bandages under it. This time I only had to have 28 injections down from the 32 last time.

Barb: I'm fine....just a little mad at myself for coming into work. If there was another person in the office I'm sure I would have stayed home.

Shelley: Watch that weather, okay? Scares the heck out of me that you guys have to be near those tornadoes and such. I guess you are used to them...but be careful.

Way to go on the weight loss....I'm jealous. Keep up the good work.

Judy: Thanks for thinking about me. You have no idea how much I appreciate that.
I'm constantly thinking about all of you guys and telling dh different things that are going on your lives.

Brenda: Still waiting for your return.....bet it's computer problems again.

Heather: Glad you're enjoying the treadmill. I haven't gotten up the nerve to tell dh I want to get rid of mine. I know he spent big dollars on it.

There was a message for me when I got to work this morning that dd's mental health worker wants to talk to me. I called her but she was too busy to talk and said she would call me back at 1. Well, it's just about 2 now...don't you love those people that get you to worrying and then don't call back. I asked dd at lunchtime why she would want to talk to me....she doesn't have a clue...unless she's lying ...again.

I've given myself a talking to and I've got to get back on the bandwagon and smarten up in my eating. I'm not going to post my weight today....because of all the swelling. I know I'm retaining water in my leg...you should see my feet...just like little piggies. I even had to take my toe ring off and that doesn't happen often. Anyway, I've gotten sloppy with my eating and just sort of shaking it off that I will gain weight eating this way. When I was at my lowest...around 153...I promised myself that I wouldn't allow myself to get above 155. Yea, right, now I'm in the 160's so obviously I've broken that promise. My clothes are uncomfortable. Yes, I can still wear the ones I wore last summer...but the roll in the middle of my shirts is plainly visible. The book is coming out tonight and I'm going to get myself back on track. I started at lunchtime....the special was a sausage and cheese omelet...my favorite. Instead I had a chicken breast and side salad....yea me!!! lol

Okay, back to work so I can get my chubby rear out of here.

Ladies, how are all of you?

Donna, you're doing the right thing in not overly worrying about dd. We always worry about our kids, but they have to live their own lives. I hope your dh gets his meds straightened out. And that your procedure goes well.

Alida, I'd love to have a dry basement - I'd love to have a basement! They don't build them here in Texas. Where do Texans put all their junk and stuff, and where do they cower and hide during tornado weather? The only interior rooms I have are an overly-stuffed closet (because I have no basement to store the stuff), and a bathroom, so I guess I cower in the bathroom!

Judy & Shelley, looks like we have another system coming from the west, and it looks like it's a good sized one, too. Maybe it will peter out before it gets to us. Judy, have a safe trip to Dallas. Shelley, don't float away.

Peg! Pictures! We want to see that tan, before it gets a chance to fade into memory. And details, too.

----------Had to stop for a long time, got lost! Only time to say Hi to eveyone else. Will try to catch up later.
