today's scoop:
  • 1434 calories
  • 97g fat
  • 85g pro
  • 60g carb
  • 25g fiber
  • 35g net carb Dang! still to many for *my induction*
water intake was a little better today! Did some heavy duty house cleaning today, so my body was in motion a little. It was just to cold and windy to hoof a walk in the 'hood. They gym parking lot was insane...so that means inside is the same...sigh. I'm thinking I will get myself through the 10 days or so of induction, then make a decision about what to do for exercise. I would really like to bike, but I don't think that's going to happen until spring. Leslie Sansone's WATP videos may come out of retirement...LOL!

over and out!

alida, are you referring to carb countdown? they call the milk "calorie countdown" now but it's the same. i can usually find it at dillions...

The good, the bad, and the ugly............ no just skip bad and go straight to ugly. I was doing great until I went for eggnog at the neighbor's. Our annual egg nog fest is usually done on Christmas Eve, but due to family changes for both families it got put off. Neighbor makes a hot eggnog. It's really good on a cold night-and we are supposed to have the coldest of the year tonight.
  • weight: 156.5 -- that's the good thing (-2 since Monday)
  • 1829 calories

  • 75g protein
Yeah, it's time to go back to school and get back to a more normal regime.

One day down the road. Not much of a track record, but it's a start. I did fine--drank a lot of water and less coffee.

It really does feel good to be back to my LCE lifestyle though. Sugar is so addictive, and so unnecessary. I'm going to get out my LC cookbooks, and really investigate some good cookery for myself. I can't live on burgers, eggs, and cheese forever. Well, maybe I can.

Simple is good.

Here's to everybody doing a good job today!

Up one pound today. Hmmmm. Not really sure why, but maybe because I didn't finish all my water.

Here are yesterday's totals:

Calories: 1326
Carbs: 36.5 11%
Protein: 30.2 9%
Fat: 80% (Yup! That's the culprit!)

I haven't figured out how to analyze what foods I ate that had fat in them in the "new" Diet Power. I hope that I can. I ate 1/2 cup of rice with "sweet and sour pork" (I put the quotes there because their naming of things doesn't always resemble what I call things) I tried to avoid the sauce and only have the pork. If I hadn't eaten the rice I would have only had collard greens and meat. I had a BIG salad. We have a lovely salad bar. But, brocoli, cauliflower, and most other veggies are ucky to me.

I also ate lots of cheese.

Suggestions?

Peg

Peg, you mean other than "eat the veggies? <ducking> Sorry. When I was working at the hospital, and eating cafeteria lunches I serve myself a big salad, with cold peas, a few sunflower seeds and olive slices and a healthy dose of cottage cheese for protein. My dressing was (don't laugh) red wine vinegar splashes and a couple of packets of artificial sweetener sprinkled over. When the salad was mixed together, the liquid in the cottage cheese moderated the the vinegar, and the result was an acceptable sweet and sour dressing. I have a heavy hand using dressing, so some intervention was in order.

Really though, there's nothing wrong with collard greens. Why not have a double helping of the c veggies to you like when they're available. Then nibble on the ucky ones when you have no other choices. I think you did well, actually.

If my life depended on eating collard greens, you could just call the funeral home. There aren't many things that I flat don't like......... but greens are definitely one of them. (Another one is beets)

Rofl, Judy. Collard greens do have to be doctored, IMO. Best done with bacon, minced onions, dash of garlic, and a touch of sweetener. Hmmmm. I guess the less they taste like collards, the better

With the exception of the brussel sprouts and fresh tomatoes, I'm pretty much with you on your list, Shelley.

You guys are not going to believe this after the eggnog last night. Check the weight stat. I so want to change my ticker, but I'm realistic and will only do it once a week. Tomorrow I'll probably be up a pound.
  • weight: 155.5 -- (-3 since Monday)
  • 1257calories
  • 77g fat
  • 66g carb
  • 18g fiber
  • 48g net carb
  • 86g protein
Sometimes I think it's all about just skipping dinner. Of course if we would eat before 8:00 or 8:30 or if I wouldn't chow down like a field hand it might not settle in quite so much.

Friday morning to me!

--a pound down
--in ketosis
--feeling much better, thank you

For me, the issue isn't so much losing the weight--I know I can do that. It's breaking the habit of bad decisions: sugar, crackers, wine. Also, eating carbs gives me gas. Low-carb clears that right up. This is a benefit to humanity, not only to me!

You can click over to my Fitday journal for the stats.

By the way, the calories-expended on the Activities feature at Fitday is about half what the treadmill registers. Who knows what it really is. However, in my view, the purpose of exercise is not burning calories. It's using muscles, including the heart, and keeping the whole cardio/pulmonary system working efficiently. Using weights also strengthens bone. I believe exercise is the secret of "eternal youth" and I'm devoted to it.

Today: drink the water, eat the protein, resist the wine.

Here's my numbers for yesterday:

Weight 202.8

Calories: 784
Carbs:10.3
Fat: 62.2
Protein: 46.5

I know. I know. This is awfully low, but I honestly added everything I ate. We had corned beef and cabbage at lunch. I love both, so was able to get in my protein and mucho veggies with salad. Not much at the salad bar so had lettuce with oil and vinegar. Then, last night 3 ozs of water. I can't wait to see what I weigh when the fiber and stool softeners kick in!

Weight today: 200.8 Whoohoo.

Peg
