Back for a sporadic check-in --

Shelley, thanks for the info about the re-naming of Carb Countdown Milk and the Dannon yogurt! Now, I just have to find it.

I was up half a pound today. Sigh. See what tomorrow brings.

Judy, did you throw that cookie dough out? It would kill me, too!

Sorry, I am still having problems with my computer and this site. Taking longer than forever. I also have to change my computer time. It looks like after work is optimum. But then everyone else in the world is on, too! I'll work it out, eventually! XXOO

No....... There are only two pieces left and I have been in a who cares mode. It will probably continue until it's gone at one piece a day.

Thursday morning: the week is speeding by for me.

The gals gathering last night was enjoyable. I kept my mitts out of the sugar--and they had some of my favorite cookies--the little shortbread rounds with the swirl of chocolate icing on top. I think they're from Costco. Anyway, I stuck with the salads, and the delicious grilled salmon provided by our host. (Oops! Forgot to put that in Fitday.)

I had some wine, and I think there was a little rice in the dolmathes (I think that's what you call a grape leaf with some sort of filling). Higher carbs, but not a health violation.

It just seems like a triumph every day I don't eat sugar.

If I don't start off the day with Diet Power ready and waiting I forget to log. That's what happened yesterday and the totals aren't worth straining my brain. I didn't go off plan, so that will have to be good enough

Barb, I know the cookies whereof you speak. Enough said.

Today's scoop --- yes, I ate the next to the last scoop of cookie dough. Like my Grandmother ......... I'll start again for real on Monday (I hope). I think I need to read the book for motivation. DH is going hunting in a week or so. That's an excellent time to do down and dirty induction.

Well, Judy, after the Texas Mom Mayhem, a little cookie dough could set the world right again. Even I can admit to that. And yes, you're right--reading the book would give you a boost, and Monday morning is a good time to make a new resolve. I always do!

My carbs and calories are low, but I'm trying not to think weight loss--just lifestyle. Hitting my high cut-off weight of 140 was a true wake-up call. As some of you are telling me with your current struggles, it's just TOO HARD to think about losing 30, 40, or 50 lbs. (been there, done that!) So now is a good time to reverse the trend.

Be GOOD to yourselves. Love yourselves. Life is so much more than what we put in our mouths. I think you all know that already.

P. S. I finally remembered the handy way to list foods in Fitday, when you eat the same things every day. From ALL RECENT FOODS list--check, check, check. Much easier!

Yesterday 1/10

Calories 1095
Fat 67.4
Protein 69
Carbs 67.7
Fiber 20.1
Net Carbs 47.5

I took the free 15 day trial of the newest version of DietPower. Not sure the "improvements" are worth it, especially considering the even more judgemental nature of this version than the last--by that I mean the obvious low fat bias which rates everything you input, keeps a running score, offers "hints" on how to improve, etc. ACK. How 'bout just the facts, mam. Do we need a program giving us opinions of our selections according to someone else's nutritional value system? Still, I wouldn't relish starting over with FitDay......

hey guys...
I'm gonna drop off and just do my totals on my fitday pc.
I'm in a rut...I know, it's waaaay to early in the year to say that, but, there it is.
I've been reading PP, SBD, and looked at last years WW plan, and I think I'm gonna strike out on my own for a few weeks to see if I can get things to moving again. So my totals won't be very LC and I would be embarrassed to post them...LOL! I'm gonna go to the Beach(as in Southbeach) and throw in accountability with WW points and see what happens. Weird, huh?
The thought kept popping in my head, and after reading a few articles on eating more MUFa's (MonoUnsaturated Fats), I thought, I'd see what I could come up with, sooooooooo this is it! It's a tweak I can't refuse....

Shelley, whatever works for you. The goal is designing a way of eating we can sustain without constant feelings of hunger and deprivation. For me, the addition of fats in many forms seems to serve that purpose. I forget what the monounsaturates are. Olive oil? What about coconut oil?

Brenda, hope the new Diet Power works out okay. I hear ya about a program that delivers opinions.

My calories were on the high side yesterday--and a lot of wine. The scales were smack on 135 this morning, so the general trend is all right. I'm enjoying the remainder of the broccoli slaw I made for the potluck. A very easy and delicious way to get a slug of veggies.

Looks like the sky is light enough now. Off for a walk.

olive oil, yes; coconut oil, no, it's a saturated fat (90%).
Nuts are high in MUFas also.

Shelley, do what you need to do, dear heart, but you actually caught me by surprise. In my mind your achievements this year have been FANTASTIC. As long as you're trying something different in the spirit of inquiry, rather than the spirit of desperation, you know? Would you consider checking in here with us anyway, even if it's just to let us know you had a good day? What I"m saying is, I'll miss you here!

My carbs have been slightly higher than my initial goal, but within reason. It seems as though I haven't slid into a comfortable "routine" yet, however.

January 11
Calories 1003
Fat 53.2
Protein 80.3
Carbs 67.9
Fiber 29.9
Net Carbs 38

Ah, shucks, Bren...I'd miss ya'll too. You know I won't wander to far...

I just felt like I need a change-up; a little more variety. My weight loss seems to have slowed waaaay down since about October. I'm really just maintaining, and then the holiday blow-out put me over my personal *no-way again* goal by a couple of pounds...ack!
Soooo....a good compromise seemed to be SBD and I am curious to see if it will jump-start me to lose since clearing up those health issues from last year.
So, just a little *self experiment* to see if I can function for the good with a few more carbs and a little less fat. So far, no difference, but I'll give it a few weeks.

And...I've been *cheat free* for 3 days...yay!

over and out.
