Ooo, ouch. That little whipping guy really hurts. Don't DO THAT to yourself. PLEASE!

Everybody read Dixie's front-page comments on Motivation. Think positive. Be kind to yourself. Life is short. I think we're all ready for spring, fresh air, and a little break. And maybe just a nibble of chocolate. (Get the good stuff, not the drugstore bunnies.)

I'm really the worst person to be hanging around here at the moment, all bubbly with happy prospects. But that's a dangerous time, too, when it's easy to forget that a happy body requires the same it always did: exercise, one minute muffins, and junk-free eating. And sleep. More sleep.

It's Friday. Ease on down the road, my dears.

Good Morning.... I've been following along as usual without a lot of input. Same old same old. Not even a really good book going now or anything different in social life (except it's in the 80's)
I did finish reading Middlesex... now that was a little different book.

A little of my 2 cents regarding image etc. I, too, have the same issues.. having gained weight, haven't been faithful in working out. Several years ago, we had a speaker come to the hospital where I worked. She was fabulous. I wish I could remember everything she said or even the books she quoted. Basically it boiled down to...our mind is very powerful. What we say to ourselves we began to believe. Negative thoughts cause us to lose strength. She had someone stretch their arms out and we sent the person negative thoughts and they had no resistance when she pushed down on her arms.. then positive thoughts and their arms became very strong. The whole jist of this.... we need to feed ourselves positive thoughts.. positive imaging no matter our size. Also, I have read to imagine yourself thin and think of yourself thin and it helps you to control your food intake

Ok... enough... I've been working on this positive thinking.. instead of telling myself how awful I look. In the land of sunshine down here I should be just a little bubbly thing

Barb... 3 more mondays?????? YAY

Have to post some wonderful items I purchased today. They had 75% off of the Bizarre items so I bought the kimono picture. It's huge and only $32 which I was so happy about it. My mom works there so she had the department manager keep her updated when the price went to good to resist. Then I stopped by a consignment shop yesterday on my walk to Target to meet up with my mom. All night long I thought of the beautiful vanity at the shop and asked DH if I could get it. He said yes. It was $175 but I fell in love. I'll have to payback the savings account with my blood donation and babysitting money over time since we are saving up for a car next year but it's worth it. I'm staying positive that I'll get my rebate check in 3 weeks for being at goal weight and can knock that balance down. Other then that I've been cleaning since it's nice enough to open up the windows. Was low 50's but no wind so perfect for working hard in the house to stay cool.
-
Donna - Never give up and never surrender to sedentary living. Keep up the great work on your workouts too. // 3 months Anniversary for your DD!! That is fantastic. I'm so happy for her and for you too. It must be such a moving feeling (for lack of better words) to not have to worry about your dd like you had to before.
-
Brenda - Love you!!
-
Peg - Hi!
-
Barb - Yes, ick on those drugstore bunnies. They are only worth the first bite but after that they really make you feel run down don't they. / I'm feeling pretty bubbly too. Been pampering myself more then usual really helps.
-
Berta - I strongly believe what you say. A counselor asked me for something advice to give to other clients who are losing big amounts of weight as I have and that is what I said...stay positive. If you say you can't do it then you won't. - Cool! I'm always going to imagine me super skinny so that I can eat smaller. I guess if you think, "I'm a fat cow" then you would eat like one wouldn't you. Great input Berta.

Heather, your purchases are beautiful--things you'll treasure for a long time to come.

Just a quick check-in before I tackle the dust bunnies. I've got the music to Dirty Dancing on, so I'll just dance around with the dustmop.

Take care everybody.

Good morning!

I tried to sleep in this morning but Muffin decided 7:30 was late enough. I even rolled over and said "Muffin, stop your whining!" She just looked at me and let out another "Meow!" that translates into "Me! Now!"

The gal at my sister's hopefully-to-be-home-soon place needed an Investment Statement for what's left of my sister's Stock. she has 15 shares. It was a BIG hassle to get Tammie on the phone to talk with Wells Fargo, who holds the stock. She was supposed to get the Statement by mid-January. Date came and went. No statement. I get on the phone and they said they will send another one. Tammie finally got it about a week ago and faxed it to the home. WRONG Statement!! They needed the recap of 2007. And the gal at the home did NOT tell me this. This is what is so frustrating. OK. So, I have Tammie on the phone and I try to get into the Wells Fargo web site. Tammie can't remember sign-on name or password. We try various combinations. After about 20 minutes, we get in! So I print out the 1099 for her 2007 dividends and some other stuff. I fax that Thursday morning, with a note to please e-mail me to let me know she got it and it is what she needs. NO E-MAIL. I call and leave a message. Still no e-mail. Now it's Saturday and there's nothing to do until Monday. The process to get my sister in this home has taken SIX months. I am ready to shoot somebody.

Besides the above, all is fine. My hours are still cut back, but with Bob working now, things are fine. I am finally putting away the stuff I brought home from Chicago and loading boxes with garage sale stuff.

Heather! Your new purchases are wonderful! I see you already put that vanity to good use. And the picture is fabulous! Is it a picture? It almost looks like a real framed kimono. I have one. One day I'll post a picture.

Donna, I, too am amazed at your signs of Spring. We still have snow on the ground but Monday may see 50 degrees. It's been a weird February. And yes, it does sound like your boss is different. I wonder if he would be able to continue his business if you were not there. Maybe not. Does that open the door for his brother to step in????

Brenda, love you too! Love all of you! thank you for that lift. I needed it. A class on Microsoft Office will be invaluable! When I was looking for a job before I decided to work for the company that bought mine, everyone wanted people who knew MS Office. And I hate MS Word. Last month when I interviewed for temp work, I had to take a test for Excel and Word. While I didn't flunk, I was not the best. I tend to use a lot of keyboard shortcuts and the test was not set up for that. They ask you to do a function. when you think you have done it correctly, you answer yes to move on to the next question. When I would try to do a keyboard shortcut, I was automatically moved to the next question. AArrghh.

Shelley, I laughed at your comment about getting into Roosters as they were going "out." Didn't your "old" kitchen have roosters???? And I still see Rooster stuff. So maybe they are not as out as you think!

Peg, Wow. your really cleaned up at Chico's! And the clothes all sound wonderful. Is there a special event coming up?

Judy, you and I are on the same page. One day last week my boss brought a pizza home. And since pizza is one of the major food groups, I could not resist. However, I will say I have been getting niggling feelings to power up the treadmill......

Barb, only three more Mondays? And a 401K in good shape? You are one lucky girl! Oh, your life is certainly going to change. So many, many opportunities! And you deserve each and every one!

Bert, LOL about nothing going on. It's in the 80's where you are. To me, that's a lot going on in and of itself! Think THIN, huh? Well, it's worth a shot ....

Time to get my Saturday started. Always something to do. Bob is out taking his walk. He is so good about it. Almost every day. And if it's bad outside he drives to the mall and walks there. One would think that living with such discipline that it would rub off. Nah. XXOO

I had so much fun this morning using my vanity and getting all dressed up. My mom bought me my beautiful tall jewelry box a few weeks ago as an early birthday present and now this vanity really makes me feel pretty. We all need that.

Weigh in went well which makes it 3 more weeks to go. I have no babysitting obligations for 3 weeks so when the kids are at school I'll be at the gym! Wish I could lose 16 or even 7 pounds in one week like they can on the Biggest Loser but am grateful for the 2 I'm doing now.
-
Barb - What a great idea! I love Dirty Dancing and went to LimeWire and am dowloading Dirty Dancing so that I can play while I clean too.....okay I'm listening to what I downloaded and am so happy you brought this up. Those songs really make you want to move!
Alida - That is so aggravating. Treat people like you would want to be treated. Someday these people you are dealing with maybe in the same situation that your sister is in. I do believe that things come back to you and even though people call it karma I think it's God's way of getting a lesson learned. // Oooh! I would love to see your kimono framed art. Wow! Mine is just a picture but maybe one day I'll find a super find like the one you have.

hello girls!
well, life has a way of telling you to quit fooling around and do what is for you.
had my first full blown asthma attack in 4 years. luckily, I was at the dr's office when it hit the worst. I had been with a cold for a couple days and 'felt' it turning on me so went it. By the time he saw me (1/2 hour after I called), I could barely speak and the cuticle area was turning blue.

got a nebulizer treatment, a shot in the but, prednesone pills, new inhalers and a lecture. Take my ongoing meds, get my weight back down, etc. And I just know that the lowcarbing I started back in 2004 was the reason I haven't had the attacks for so long. I had reached the point where I was hardly ever using my inhaler, and now it is my constant companion again.

still shaky, heading for a nap (was up all night cause of the start of this) - and still need to get ready to leave on vacation Wednesday.
I know vacation is NOT the best time to start, but then again - I have an empty kitchen. The only things coming in are what we will be shopping for the week.
Hubby can keep his stuff away from me (we actually have an extra studio that no one is using)
and he will let me choose where to go when out.
I think this scared both of us.

well, nighty night for now. I'll probably check in after vacation. Hoping these meds get me into better condition for that.

a fly by from me....
as per my journal entry today:

Quote:
OK...my small kitchen project has been started. So much for being small! har!
I started sanding on the wooden shutters yesterday, and it was just to slow going. I was sanding by hand because DH's palm sander just wasn't good for getting in between the slats of the shutters. Soooooooo.......I took my project-doing self to Lowe's and bought a new Mouse Sander!!!
Swwwweeeeet!!!! I still have some more sanding, but I think I'll have it all done by tomorrow(won't do anymore today 'cause I had a manicure). Then hopefully, I can paint the shutters by tomorrow afternoon, and get them re-hung by tomorrow night!
Here's a pic of the *Mouse* sander. My best investment in quite some time!

Off to see what we will have for dinner...
and from my journal entry day before...

Quote:
found a pic of my kitchen window valance
click to enlarge for a better look see...
tiny crimson and cream check...OU crimson, almost!! LOL!!!

I think the paint colors will be:
La Fonda Geranium (red) for accent wall in the Dining room
Hopsack (very creamy, buttery off white)over top of chair rail
and the last one I'm still debating on...
a cross between mocha-kahki-pale milk chocolate...below the chair rail
I'll post the name and swatches when the deal is done.
Alida...the girl in the drapery area at JCP where I got the rooster valance, assured me roosters are still very much *in*
I just think I noticed more accessories serveral years ago, but who knows!

Heather....your vanity is sooooo cute and *girly-girl*!!! Good for you in a house full of males!!!

Barb...did ya catch all the dust bunnies??? I've certainly got some I need to get captured. Little stinkers do multiply, don't they? har!

MK...so sorry to hear about your BIG asthma attack. Glad you were in the right place at the right time, for sure!
Hope you are feeling better ASAP!!! Have a fun vacation!

OK...gotta scoot...
(((hugs all around)))

Well, It has taken me a lot to get on my treadmill. Just wanted to take the day off but had a good weigh in so want to keep it up. I'll be able to get more calories and rest in 3 weeks. Promising myself when I'm finished with LA Weight loss that I won't just sit in front of the TV and eat junk. I'll get to continue my journey of feeling good and not going back to the sad friend I had inside.
-
MaryKay - Oh my! I'm glad that you went to the doctor when you started feeling your worst. / That is so cool that you can have your own food place and not see junk around! Wow!
-
Shelley - Thank you, I just love my vanity. Really makes me feel special. / I hope we get to see pictures of your kitchen project. I just love home improvements.

Hi guys. Dd and I had the greatest time in town today. This is the way it's supposed to be between mothers and daughters...not worrying constantly like I used to. She got her second paycheque and immediately gave me the other half of next months rent, then paid her hydro bill. That left the rest of her cheque for groceries and anything else she wants. She even had money left over from last payday. That's something she hasn't seen in a long time. So, while shopping she decided to buy herself a Play Station 2...something she's wanted for years. She actually wanted a newer version but it was pretty expensive. She wasn't upset to be getting an older version. This is a part of her I've never seen before. Before quitting drinking she would have whined and ruined our day! She even took me out for lunch again. We had a lot of fun laughing and talking and my knees, ankles and hips are aching tonight from all the walking and driving. I'd do it again in a heartbeat though.

I did score a new pair of jeans and a summer t-shirt. Of course I ended up in Michaels and with a 40% coupon in hand I managed to do a big of damage to my mad money. Even picked up a mug set for the grandkids to decorate next time they are here for a sleepover. Then a trip to Chapters for a new book ended the day perfectly. Even the weather co-operated...no snow and it was pretty warm. Can't wait for our next trip to town although I'll have to wait until she gets another day off on a weekend.

Heather; What a cute vanity. I know you'll enjoy it.

MaryKay: You're one smart lady heading to the dr. when you felt the attack coming on. You have a great vaction you hear!

Alida: What a PITA trying to get the paperwork done. Six months is just a ridiculous time to try to get your sister situated. Will this be the end of it now?

Shelley: I have one of those sanders! Love it. Before I redid my kitchen my old one was all done in blues so I could have "duck" accessories. I love your rooster valance! Bet your kitchen will be great when done. Don't overdo...you were just sick!

Barb: Love Dirty Dancing...I should load that one on my ipod for using on the treadmill.

I think it's just about time to head to bed. I'm exhausted from all the shopping...but it's a good exhausted. Talk to you all tomorrow maybe.

Sunday morning--brilliant blue sky, bright new snowfall (but melted on the streets) and the prospect of a glorious day. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

I'm feeling a little rocky, though. My friend and I did something I've wanted to do for a long time--go to BB's BBQ and listen to the band "Four Fried Chickens and a Coke"--really fun blues group. The lead guitar is a writer I know at Hallmark. We got there early, as advised, but still ended up eating our ribs standing up--off a food cart parked next to the cash register. Never mind. We had a blast. The "blast" bit me on the a$$ at about four in the morning, because I forgot the aspirin before I went to bed. So...I took a couple, put on my fuzzy robe, and curled up on the polar bear rug in front of my fireplace. That worked fine--I feel asleep like a rock. But now I have to hustle to get ready for church. I don't think I drank too much--but the place was filled with cigarette smoke, and that kills me. I took a shower when I got home, washed my hair, and dumped all my clothes in the washer.

Donna, I'm so happy to hear your report on the great day with your dd. When she starts to pile up more happy experiences like this, she'll be even more dedicated to sobriety. But then, alcoholism is a disease, and (kind of like the continual temptations of food), you have to make good choices constantly, and that's a huge discipline. I'm sure you'll help reinforce the good things all you can.

Shelley, your decor choices are delightful. It sounds like a lot of work to me, but there's obviously tremendous satisfaction in it for you. Have fun!

Gotta run. Fun has taken its toll on me today!

I went back to the grocery store this morning after dropping DH off at work to pick up more frozen mangoes. Not exactly lower carb but so far not effecting my weight loss efforts so I bought a few bags to blend in with my light vanilla soy milk. Delicious!! Also bought low carb tortillas (4 net) so smother tomato paste, turkey burger, cheese please and lots of lettuce on. Low carb, low calorie and is a treat. Now I've got to run to get the morning chores like dishes done and be on my way to church. Have a good day everyone!
-
Donna - Ooh a PlayStation 2! My sister bought rock band for hers. We have ours for the Xbox. If her birthday is coming up soon guitar hero would be a perfect present to buy for her since she is a game lover. I know I've mentioned that I play mine a lot and I don't usually like video games. // Glad that you had fun shopping with your dd.
-
Barb - My sister plays pool and even though she doesn't smoke she sure does smell like she does if I see her after. / I would love to see a blues band. One day when the kids are older I'll have to do some things I've never done like this before. / Have a good time at church!

Good afternoon!

Barb, the name of the band is hilarious. Where is BB's? And was it the drink or the BBQ that bite you? Maybe the smoke? I know Bob always complained of getting a headache when he was in a very smoky room. I haven't been in a smoky situation since I quit. I wonder if I will want a cigarette or be repulsed. When we were at the casino on New Year's I didn't really notice it too much.

Donna, how wonderful you and your daughter had such a great time. Hugs and prayers still coming your way. It is a long road for your DD, but she sure has a good start this time!

Shelley, woohoo! That sander looks great! And the valance is adorable. I think Roosters will be around for quite a while! And if not, who cares? So, what shutters are you talking about?

Mary Kay, TG you were in the doctor's office. That must have been very scary for you. Doing low carb cured my acid reflux, too. That should be reason in and of itself to get back .... just like your asthma "cure."

Heather, picture of kimono below. It's not a great picture because the sun is shining (yea!) and causing a reflection. Those lower carb tortillas are great. I use one almost every day to make a sandwich. and frozen mangoes sound delicious.
