Heather, you have so much to be proud of. I'm amazed every time I think of your magnificent weight loss.

Shell, thanks for emailing the recipes, they sound really good. I plan to make your Southwest Chicken Salad w/Creamy Chipotle Dressing. Sounds delish!

Bren,

Gotta scoot and head back to work.

Friday! I have so many things stacked up to do, I hardly know where to start. For one thing, I'm having a dinner party for six tomorrow night, and I still have ingredients to buy. Turns out I left behind quite a few pieces of kitchen gear that would really be handy now--like a big cast-iron skillet. Oh well. I can round up one of those.

Last night, I attended a political caucus. This is an event where citizens of a "ward" (the smallest geographic political unit) meet to elect delegates to the party nominating convention. A friend of mine from church wanted to be the delegate, and she got more than twenty supporters to turn out for her. Now she has to "run" at the county and state levels.

Heather, I hope you're feeling better. You really don't have time to slow down and be sick.

That goes for everybody! Take care of you.

Almost took my 9 year old son Jay to the ER last night. He was a miserable sick kid and his temperature kept creeping up. I gave him Tylenol and thankfully it stopped at 102.2 or else we were going in! Charlie temperature was 100. He said he felt fine and was running around everywhere. Jay though had dark spots under his eyes which next to his light complexion scared me. Said his head hurt too. This morning it is down to 100 and he doesn't want to eat. I know that is normal so I'm about ready to run and get him some diet sprite that they get special when they are sick. I'll get enough for him to share with Charlie. This mama is going to keep a close eye on him today.

Good morning. It's Friday...finally. This week dragged for me. I haven't slept well so I'm tired. For some reason this week I've been having the strangest dreams and they keep waking me up. Most of them revolve around dh having an affair (I'd kill him) but last night it was ds having the affair. Crazy!!

Just about all of our snow is gone now. We're having higher than normal temps. and loving it. I just have a few patches of icy snow left in the shady spots around the yard. Nice not to get up in the morning and peek out the window to see if it will be a hairy drive to work. The next step is wondering when I can bring out the sandals and capris!! I'm so tired of jeans, sweaters and boots.

Dh is heading back into town this morning for a meeting at the bank with his mom. She got the reverse mortgage so now the paperwork has to be done. Still a lot to do for her...I think she's really overwhelmed.

I've been so careful this week but the scale went up 1/2 lb this morning anyway. I figured it would when I got up and felt my rings really tight on my hand. Water gain! If I'd known that I would have gone ahead and eaten the pork rinds that I wanted last night but talked myself out of.

Shelley: You did a great job on the shutters. And your helper is getting so big!! What a cutie.

Barb: Have fun at your dinner party this weekend.

Heather: Nothing worse than a sick kid! I spent many nights sleeping on the floor beside one of the kids beds so I could hear if they got worse. My son was prone to tonsilitis that would spike his fever so fast that he'd go into convulsions. I was so glad when he stopped having it! Scary!!

Judy: If what your friend said is true...then my furniture is protected very well also...especially this time of year. All the dirt and rocks that were put down to make the roads not so slippery have turned into dust...what a mess. Can't wait until the road cleaners start coming out and clean up the mess. (then I'll get a new windshield put in my car too...too many rocks on the road to worry about it now)

Susie: Did you make the salad? Looks so good I might even try it this weekend.

Tomorrow night we are going to a going away party. A lady that cooks at the restaurant where we have lunch every day is leaving town for Vancouver where she will babysit her newest grandchild. She's ready to retire and just play all day she says. Such a nice lady and she always makes my lunches look so good. We've known her for years so it will be nice to celebrate with her.

Off to work. Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi Gang!

I'm around and reading, but have been filling up my life with activities here at the ofh. Most have been fun, but a dinner with women theology students that was billed as a way for those of us who are clergy (women) to do some mentoring, was just about the most boring thing I've been to for a while. First of all, only three students showed up. When they started going around the room to introduce ourselves, my colleagues here at the home began a game of "can you top this" about their former lives. I hate that! After 45 minutes they were still going! So, right after I ate, I left!

Then yesterday, I got to attend the Board meeting of the ofh here. It is composed of some heavy hitters in the community and beyond. I am on a small committee to try and raise the endowment, and I was there in that capacity. It was interesting, though I didn't contribute. Frankly, I see myself as part of the "youth group" here. Some times I hear, in some people, a tendency to group us all as "old." I hate that too.

Yesterday also, I met with the staff at the health center to receive info on all the patients there. On Sunday, I take over as the Chaplain for the next two months. This means that I will need to visit everyone every day. I'm sharing the duties with another women here, and we are alternating weeks of visiting. I am in charge of filling up the slots for worship every Sunday in April. So, I need to get on the phone to do that.

Tuesday I had an afternoon women's group here and an evening couples group here.

So, it's been a very busy week filled with people, and very tiring for me. I forgot how tiring it is for me to be with a lot of people. I have had insomnia two nights, but last night was a very good sleep.

Heather: I hated having sick kids. Their fevers spike so quickly and so high. I know that you are being a good nurse today.

Susie: That salad sounds great.

Shel: Darling pics of your little gal. She is growing, that is true! Otis is getting quite a personality. It's nice to see. I am still wary of his biting, but he has calmed down a great deal since I decided to put him on "time out" when he does it. He doesn't like being ignored!

Bren: Thanks for the BIG laugh for this morning.

Barb: You have a big and exciting weekend ahead. Good luck with the dinner party. I know that you will shine!!

Judy: I am happy to say that the dust that was obscuring my furniture is all gone. My once a year dusting happened on Tuesday. Whaz up with you?

Alida: Whaz up with you?

Big smiles and waves to the rest of you!

Gotta jet!

Just stopping in. Kids ate well at dinner so that makes mommy happy to know that they are on the mend.

Judy - Sorry to hear about your dad and your Miss O. Is she in pain? Poor gal, I hope that he feels better soon.
