I tried to stop by for a visit.......... couldn't even get it. Since halftime is short, I have to get up and call my dad as well as make something besides dip for DH to eat. I'll try to catch you all tomorrow!

Peg, Best wishes for the trip home. Protect your foot!

Hi guys...sorry I didn't get in here this weekend but I got a burst of energy and yesterday I spent the whole day cleaning. Dh was out of town for a dart tournament so I literally pulled out furniture and cleaned like I haven't cleaned in a long time. I'm sure I found enough dog hair to make a puppy! Even got in a good workout yesterday. My weight sucks but I'm still working at it.
I mentioned to dh that I didn't understand why I'm not losing weight and he had the nerve to tell me it's cause I'm getting old! My head whipped around to look at him and give him my best glare...he quickly changed his wording. lol

Today was a warmer day, but my burst of energy is gone. It was hard to even go out and take the dogs for a walk. Took everything in me to do 1 mile on the treadmill. Finally this afternoon it hit me! I've been eating terrible. You can't just live on salads and feel good. So I put a pot roast in and made a pot of broccoli and a green salad for dinner. I'm feeling much better now. Had to be the sloppy eating. I just figured that with dh out of town...why cook? Stupid!

Today is my ds's 7th anniversary. So, I called them and he actually answered the phone. I got to talk to my other 2 grandkids. This Wednesday is my grandaughters birthday so I asked when we can visit. Wednesday she has to go to tap dance lessons and then catechism (sp?) after that, so I guess we will go over on Tuesday instead. The best part of all this...ds actually talked to me. We talked about 20 minutes! I was so excited. It's like having your child say their first words! lol I guess he's slowly coming around, so I'm not going to push it.

Dh is watching the superbowl game and not being a football fan (sorry Judy), I'm holed up in my craft room where I'm going to start on my next project soon. I've been itching to get in here and tonight looks like a good night.

Oh, one of the drivers called me tonight too....we have water at work! Looks like things are definitely looking up for me. So, on that note, I'm going to leave you gals until tomorrow morning so I can scratch my itch and get scrapbooking. Thinking of you all!

I think my post got lost...

Alida... I called my mom and she bought a Zenith console tv. She found it in Olathe, the last one they had sometime ago. She said 3 or 4 years ago. You might search on the internet. With all the new flat screens, it may be impossible to find a console

Monday morning. After my long weekend, I'll have to get my mind in work mode. But today will be filled with chit-chat, I'm sure. The buzz about my rapidly-approaching retirement will already be out.

I watched the SuperBowl (with about half-attention), and more or less rooted for the Patriots, since the fan with me was cheering for the underdogs. No money changed hands.

Donna, it's great to read such an upbeat post from you. I really, really hope your family will be coming around. Maybe spring will bring warmer hearts as well as warmer weather.

Gotta scoot. Take care everybody.

My post got lost? Sheesh. It was really long because I haven't been on for a few days. Well, just know that I mentioned everybody and, I think, everything. Can't recap now.

Berta, ooh. I wasn't asking about a console TV for me ... it's Judy's MIL who needs a new one. I already went through console withdrawal and got a flat panel. Love it!

Hi gang! It's Monday and I love the fresh start feeling of the new week especially when I went off plan yesterday during the Superbowl. Scale says I'm up 4 pounds but that will come off in a few days I'm sure with my exercise plan. I'm ready to lose this last 10 pounds for good! Going to be a busy week with my son's birthday, dentist appointments, a few doctor appointment check ups and other things on our calender. I'll stop by when I can!

If you don't have enough, I'm sure that I can help in the creation of a BIG puppy. It's amazing how much I sweep and vacuum away each time I clean. Goldens are big shedders.

As for the TV.............. I am good! Between the dog stepping on the remote, the cleaninglady hitting something wrong, and the batteries going bad, everything was out of wack. I got the TV working again --- and was the hero of the afternoon.

Hi guys,
flying by...
DH is very ill with an URI...ack. Poor dear. We both had our yearly *wellness* check ups this morning, complete with fasting lab work.
I had a booger of a headache going without my muga-O-coffee this morning...made me quiet the BIGMAMABEAR! LOL!
They did a rapid serum flu test on DH; he does not have the flu; just a really, really nasty URI. So, we are in full infection control mode...handwashing, handwashing and more handwashing, along with his own box of tissues and everything else disposable that's required...hehe.
Poor guy...he really is miserable.

I'm thinking that's probably how miserable our Susie is.
Sure hoping you are better today, sistaSue!

All of yesterday's posts were lost when Dixie had to fix some problems. Also the site was down for a while as well.

Alida...I did see your nice post yesterday! Thanks!

Judy...You're the woman of the hour! WTG on saving the TV!

Peg...home today; yay! Glad the wedding was perfect!

Donna...congrats on the new great-neice! Is this the first baby for this mom? Someone ask about the fast labor and delivery. Usually, the more babies you have, the faster they come. Not always, but as a general rule.
That's why we always would keep tabs on our pregnant patients that were multips(multiple births), and especially if they had babies less than 24 months apart. They often walk around with the cervix already dilated 4-5 cm without even any contractions. Oye! Then if they have SROM(spontaneous rupture of the membranes...*water* breaks), they can have that baby before you can say "jack-rabbit"! LOL!
OK...L&D, 101.
Everyone else...big smiles and waves!!!

Other random thoughts...
I've been working really hard on my *days of induction*...boy, it is kinda hard to limit ones self as required by induction, but the reward thusfar has been nice...4 lbs down since Friday, Feb 1st. And yes, they were previously lost pounds, but I'm getting close(again) to *new territory*, and I'm pretty determined to get this show on the road and get to goal!

Did I mention that Dixie increased the space for a profile picture? You can now add a 350X350 pixel pic to your profile space. And of course, I did!
It's DGS at Seaworld on his BD; he's not showing me his *toothless* grin though. DD says he's a little self-conscious. He went from wanting to loose his teeth, to being self-conscious about a toothless smile all in the span of about a week; poor lil guy! But, I still think he's cute...you know how us grandma's are! LOL!

OK...guess I'd better scoot; I think it's time to medicate DH and put some soup in front of him.

later, chickadees!
(((hugs to all)))

I hope you all will forgive me for a reprint, but I wanted to post an update for those who may not read my journal. I'm heading back to bed, hoping things will take a turn for the better by tomorrow.

Quote:
When the nurse asked me today "why are you here?" I told her I felt like I was dying. She asked with a big grin if I wanted them to finish me up or save me. I told her to save me, but could they just knock me out while they were saving me. I meant every single word. I cannot convey how sick I've been. Please, if you or someone in your family gets the slightest inkling of any URI symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. This is a scary infection. I'm still sick, feel terrible. He gave me antibiotic drops for my eye which is totally red, some steroids for my double ear infection--which will help but eventually cause the munchies and temporary wt. gain--and a couple other meds. I've already had a Zpk (antibiotic). Still having fever today and mind you, tomorrow will mark one week ago that I started coming down with this thing. He said everything should kick in by tomorrow or Wednesday. He said the infection had spread rapidly and it was going to take time. I've heard this is a tough bug to kick.

This isn't the flu. At first I thought it was the regular sinusitis, it's not. It's a nasty URI, one that seems to not want to give up it's host without a big fight.

Oh, Susie. What an awful report! I'm so sorry. I hope you'll be breaking out in better health real fast. Same to your DH, Shelley. Don't you catch it! I guess there's an advantage (for me) in not hanging out with a lot of people. Then again, I do ride the bus. I'll be sure and pay attention to that handwashing thing.

Lunch with my DIL today, with big news to share. Band practice tonight. I've only been once--that was two weeks ago. I've improved a little, but could use some live coaching. The book comes with two CDs--one video, one audio. It's possible you could teach yourself with just those, but I'm not very adept at it yet. I am getting a more dependable tone out of the instrument. Somewhat.

I made a start on clearing out my cubicle yesterday. I had downsized a few years ago, but cr*p sure does accumulate in a hurry. It's probably time I shopped for the bookshelves I need at home. But when on earth will I do that?? Seems all my "spare time" is occupied with social life. And that's very, very good.

Take care everybody.

Good morning!

Shelley, that was me asking about delivery in my lost post. Which, I am glad you read. So, thanks for the L&D 101! Oh, your poor DH. Extreme Infection Control Mode ... you bet. Fingers crossed for you, and your husband. Hope he gets well real soon.

Susie (((HUGS))). Oh my gosh. Your URI must be a real bugger. Over a week? You poor thing. If it's any consolation, my boss had a bad URI and she was much better after one week. So -- maybe your full recovery is right around the corner. Fingers crossed for you too.

Barb, LOL about not having time to find some bookcases! and good luck with band practice. Oh -- in my lost post, I mentioned the Jane Austen recap on PBS starting at 3:30 and running through the Super Bowl. They did Mansfield Park, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey and Miss Austen Regrets. You did know Masterpiece Theater is doing a Jane Austen Festival? Pride and Prejudice is on this coming Sunday.

Time to go. Not sure if I am working today. I know I am working at least 3 days this week, but not sure about today. XXOO

Morning ladies. The sun is streaming in my window and the pups are on my desk totally enjoying it. Lily has a nice toasty spot on her forehead. We'd better enjoy it...70 mph winds predicted for this afternoon.

Tonight we are heading to ds' house. Micayla turns 8 tomorrow! Can't believe how fast that has gone. Ddil called yesterday and asked if we would take Nolyn for Saturday and over night. I said yes, but I'm really nervous about it. This little guy is only 3 but we call him MacGyver. All he has to do is stand in a room and something breaks. If he's put in his room for time out...he can get out of a locked room! I know it's because he's really, really smart and he's bored...but I don't know if this Gramma has the energy to chase him. Also, he doesn't sleep through the night. Instead he gets up and totally demolishes their house. Yipes...what have I gotten myself into? lol Dh has a dart tournament again this Saturday so I'm totally on my own with this little guy. Better start getting some stuff together to keep him occupied.

My shoulders are just screaming they are so sore today. I'm thinking I've either pulled muscles by exercising or I have a cold in them.

Susie: Aw, you poor kid. Being sick is the pits, but it sounds like you've really got a good dose of it. Take care, okay?

Shelley: And dh has it too. At least he has a good nurse to take care of him. Thanks for the info re l&d...not that I plan on doing it again. lol This is the second baby for my neice. Her first is a little boy, now 3. The little girl rounds out their family nicely. I did find out that it was a pretty scary delivery for my neice. Baby was born blue with the cord around her neck. But, all is well now. Thank God.

Barb: I would hate to have to clean out my office here. It's pretty big and I've managed to just about cover the walls in pictures and funny sayings and huge calendars. Then there is all the drawers and shelves...no, I think I'd better stay here for awhile. I just don't have the energy to pack it all up. lol

Judy: I didn't know that retreivers were shedders. I would have thought the opposite. I guess that means you don't wear black either? I did buy my first pair of black pants to wear for New Years and I felt so good in them...it must be 10 years since I've worn a pair. What we don't do for our critters!

Alida: Did you end up working? I sure could use an extra day off just about now. Just not feeling right, ya know?

Brenda, Peg, Heather, Berta,Hi to all of you.

Better get some more work done. I'm tired today and feeling like I don't have much energy. This is a new feeling for me cause I'm usually go, go, go as dh says. I don't like it at all. I'm trying to eat better with more veggies and see if that has anything to do with it. Back for more later, maybe.

Hi Gang!

I'm home and back on Pacific time, I think. Anyway, it's almost noon and I am starving, so that much mean that I am ready, huh? Flight yesterday was just terrible. Well, actually, the flights were okay, but the waiting, searching, waiting somemore was just so stressful. Dh and I both ordered wheelchairs for Dallas (our flight change City). It was just comical how many times we had to change from wheelchair to cart in that airport. At one point, we got to the door of the plane and found that the aircraft had been declared out of service. We had to go back on the tarmac, and then to a gate in another terminal! Sheesh! We got home about an hour late in all. Not bad, I suppose in this day and age, but I was sure tired.

We voted this morning. The mountains here are just spectacular with snow. I have a pic on my camera that I will download.

The weekend was a mixed blessing. My bff was so focused on family and the preparations that I did not have ONE moment of her time. On the other hand, being the mother of the bride, who decided to do everything herself, I guess I should have guessed. I haven't seen her so frenetic before. On the other hand (do I sound like Tevye?), she was the mother of the bride!! We went on Thursday and came home yesterday (Monday) because I wanted to be available to help her. I kept offering and she kept turning me down. Mostly, we just sat in the hotel room and waited for the next meal or event. On Sunday, we literally ate breakfast at the hotel dining room and didn't come out of our rooms again except to eat dinner and go back and watch the Super Bowl. We should have gone on Friday and come home on Sunday. I just didn't know that she didn't want my help. I suspect that she was trying to save my physical body (foot and back), and didn't ask me. I was trying to help and would have done what I could, but she kept saying no. Oh well, live and learn.

Our weather today is sunny, though I understand that they had rain over the weekend. But, we are a cool 59.

Nothing much to say. I was pretty sick of my butt by the time I got away from all those young people and their slinky and lovely dresses. Yet, I am not willing to make any promises. I think that I just need to find some way to really commit to exercise and then bring my eating in line. Of course, the weekend was a complete blowout!

Peace, Peg

Hi gang,
Reporting in from the infirmary...LOL. DH is really down with this stuff; no better at all today. Poor dear. Fever and chills continue as well as the hacking, painful cough. Soooo...I spent most of the day doing *nursie* stuff.
I did make a quick trip to my polling place to cast my vote, then a stop by the pharmacy for my medication refill and another couple of boxes of tissues.

After the beautiful, sunny day we had yesterday, it was grey, dreary, and COLD...and now a winter *mix* is falling...sleet and drizzle...ack!
Weather guys say we'll get back to 48-ish tomorrow and also a strong N wind, but without any precip, so hoping for a n'hood walk tomorrow.

My BFF from Denver just called and she is coming for a visit next month!!! I'm soooo excited!! She'll be here for a long weekend, so we'll just have to see what we can find to get ourselves into...as long as we're back home by 9 PM to crash! har!
Lots to do...now I really need to make up my mind about my next re-decorating project and either get in gear, or wait until after her visit. I really would like to have it done before she comes, but the thought of actually doing it does make me a little wonky...LOL. Definitely will give it some long and hard thought.

Peg...sorry the travel was so tiresome. There is something to be said for a direct flight...if you can snag one. Sometimes it's impossible though.

Donna...Have fun with your little Nolyn! So he's a little Houdini, eh? Good luck! LOL!

Alida and Barb...thanks for the well wishes for DH. I sure hope we see some improvement by tomorrow; not used to seeing him in *sickie* mode...it's usually me that ends up with the URI crud. ack!

Bren...those socks in your signature pic are WUNNERFUL!!!! Wowzers!!
How long did it take to knit those??? All the color changes...OMG...I can only imagine. Good job, kiddo!!!

SistaSue...hoping you feel some better this evening? (((hugs))) and get betters comin' atcha...still....

Everyone else...hope you guys are well.

My throat is just a tad scratchy. I'm gonna fight this every step of the way; already started on some Zicam nasal swabs, and doing everything I know to not *get it*. I know...snow balls chance in heJJ of NOT getting it, eh???

later chickadees!
over and out!
(((hugs)))
