Rather than not stop in, I'm doing another journal reprint. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes. It's been a long haul with this infection. TGIF tomorrow.

Quote:
Well, I ended up back in the doctor's office today. I could tell I was taking a turn for the worse. Woke up with completely stopped up ears, a lot of pain, low grade temp again. He said the Zpk. had done it's thing, all it could. Obvious that there was more infection brewing. He prescribed a much stronger antibiotic and a prescription for the constant cough. My throat is so sore, my neck hurts...all from straining and coughing. I am determined to be well by Monday. That's it!!!! Nothing else will do!!!

Went to work this morning to take care of a few things, then on to the doctor's office and a quick stop at Kroger. Just been taking it easy tonight. I brought some work home with me for the weekend. We'll see how it goes. All of my energy is drained from fighting this bug and having a temp for so long.
Goodnight gals.

Boy, the bug has really moved in with some of you. I am so sorry that so many of you have had such a hard time getting well. Thank heavens it has passed us by.

On the health front at our house, it looks like DH and I will be making several trips to Dallas to help with transportation and attendance for dental surgery for DDad. He has more than one abscessed tooth and is going to need several root canals as well as some crown replacements and fillings. Obviously there is concern with anesthesia. His blood pressure is unstable enough with no additional meds that might suppress it any more. These procedures are going to take some seriously high end practitioners due to his existing condition. It's always something..........

Susie, I'm so sorry about the dreadful affliction. Rest all you can.

I added Airborne to my list of supps this morning. I know I haven't been getting enough sleep, and that's a set-up for catching a bug for sure. Gotta slow down. But how??

In fact, I had a lunch appt. yesterday, and decided to do Valentine Research instead of going back to the office. After a couple hours of "shopping" in Valentineville, I was done for. I headed home, and crashed on the couch for 45 minutes. Good idea. In the evening, bff and her dh took us out to dinner--first meeting with my friend--and we laughed our heads off. I'm glad I was fortified with a little extra snooze.

TGIF. Let's all just take a deep breath.

Judy, hang in there.

I especially like and ...they are toooo cute!

Just wanted to poke my head in and say hey to all. DH is maybe a wee bit better this morning. If I'm really *getting it*, this house will go into the *every man/woman for themself* mode...!

OK...off to change the linens and do some laundry. If I'm gonna get a full blown case of the crud, I want to have a clean *nest* to hang out in, yanno???

Oh, aren't the smilies cute Dixie is doing such wonderful work!

Really cold here today Windy too. I'm so glad it's Friday. It's been such a busy week and I'm just not into working this week. I do like the paycheck though. lol

Shelley: I sure hope you don't get a full blown case of what your dh had. Of course he's getting better! My dh always gets better once he gives it to me!

Barb: What a full life you have now! That's so nice. Getting out with friends is always a good time. It's been awhile since I've been out and I'm feeling the need for it. Too much snow and being housebound isn't good either. But, I promised to babysit this weekend so I will.

Susie: So sorry that you're feeling so crappy. So far it's stayed away from me and I sure don't want it. Please take care and get lots of rest.

Peg: What's up with these kids? My ds is acting like nothing ever happened between us. It's a relief for me, but how dare he put me through months of wondering if he would ever talk to me again!! I'm not going to bring it up again and I'm walking on eggshells every time I open my mouth. Hmmm, wonder if I'll ever again be able to say what I want without having to analyse it?

Alida: Did you end up working yesterday? Couldn't she post some kind of work schedule so you at least know what days you're working?

Heather: You take it easy too.

Berta: Haven't heard from you in awhile? Everything okay?

Judy: Last day girl...then maybe you can relax a little. That's before you have to Dallas that is. Hope the dental surgery turns out okay. I've oftened wondered why they didn't have a dentist go into the old folks homes and do work there....too expensive to set up the office I guess.

I have all kinds of things planned to "try" and keep Nolyn busy tomorrow. We're going to be making Valentines cookies, painting a bird house, watching Snow Buddies, and making crafts out of wooden hearts. That should keep him busy for 1/2 an hour. You guys just don't know this little guy. He NEVER sits still. Go, go, go and into everything. You can't take your eye off him for a minute. Too bad it wasn't nice enough to take him outside but there is far too much ice to let him loose. I sure hope I can wear him out so he sleeps through the night. I just know my poor little dogs are going to be terrorized. I keep telling myself it's just for one day!

I have actually lost another 1/2 lb. this morning. I think the exercising might be kicking in. So, I'm back to 164.5. 14 1/2 lbs to go. That's 3 that I've lost this week....and it had better stay away too.

for all of us....have a good weekend.

Hi All...

Donna, Who's going to be worn out at the end of the day with the 3 yr old? I am so glad your ds is talking to you now.

Shel, Yuk... hope you aren't as sick as dh. Your kitten pictures were so cute!!

Barb, Life is good right now for you. Social life and retirement on the horizon. Retirement? you will wonder how you had time to work.

Alida.. Life is better at your house now, too. It would be nice to have sort of schedule.

Susie, Heather and all of the rest who are puny.. hope you are doing better.

Bren... I heard lots of snow your way.

Now, that I mentioned snow.. I went swimming yesterday and got a sunburn But, sunburn...forgot the sunscreen

Lady coming this afternoon to shampoo the living room carpet and wash down the wood with murphy oil soap... cost about $35 or $40.
Wish I could that done at home for that.

Hi guys,
Well...I think I've got it...meaning the yucky URI from DH

I've been coughing all day; so we are both hacking away, each with our own box of tissues, feeling respectively miserable &

So if I don't drop in for a day or so, you'll know why. I'll try to follow along, but may not contribute to the convo...I'm sure I'll be in decongestant la-la land...

Barb, Donna, Bert...always good to see your posts.
Donna...have fun with your little Houdini this weekend!!
I'll be thinking of you!

Judy...hope you dad does well with his dental procedures.

SistaSue...hope you are beginning to get some improvement from the new meds.

Peg and MK...healing thoughts for your tootsies! And, Peg, good luck with your next surgery!

Bren...hope you are OK and no migraine! Thinking of you!

Heather...hope you are also feeling better!

Alida...hope you can find a happy medium for your work schedule.

Everyone have a good weekend! I'm off to find my tube of Burt's Bees lip balm, a touch of vicks vaporub, a cuppa of green tea, followed by a slug of cough syrup! Sounds like a high ole time, doesn't it??? Ha! With any luck, I'll see some ! <snort!>

nitey nites!

Bummer Shelley! I was hoping you'd excape the contagion. Sending hugs to you and Susie both.

Sorry for the MIA, gang. Know that I'm reading along and enjoying life's adventures, or lack of them, with you. Nothing special happening this past week except a royal case of cabin fever. Today, though, promises a treat. I'll be off later for a YOGA and KNIT workshop Yes, indeed! A late morning yoga class taught by knitting yoga instructor followed by a light lunch, then a trek into the farmlands of our fair county to a knitting shop. Not just any shop, but one where the proprietor raises her own sheep, and spins and dyes the wool We'll get a chance to check out her yarn and give spinning a try, too. Should be a fun adventure. Thank goodness we're not expecting a blizzard again today.

I also got a little hug from the universe yesterday in the form of a compliment from a virtual stranger, a 40ish guy I've named in my mind "the gay Apollo." I'll take it

Sorry this is about moi. Lots of inner cogitating going here, including such subjects as whether I want to go back to school part time, assuming I could define what I want to do and how long I was willing to take to do it Some of my ideas are scary, some impractical but interesting. Anyway, I hope to return from The Fold today (name of the yarn shop) to this fold of friends refreshed, renewed, and more balanced.

Good morning!

We had a bit of downturn here. Bob's stepson, 54, was in a fight and ended up in very serious condition. Touch and go for a while on Thursday night. Jim (the stepson) currently lives in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is sort of a vagabond. Anyhow, I guess he was driving away from a Boston Market restaurant and another guy felt he drove too close to him (?). They both got out of their cars and went at it. I guess Jim fell and hit his head on the curb. Multiple skull fractures. Assailant drove away. His condition as of last night was "Critical but Stable."

Son Paul drove up from Shell Knob Thursday night and left KC for Miami Friday morning. We have not had his "on-the-spot" report yet. By the time I went to bed on Thursday, it was already well into Friday.

Some background -- When Bob married his ex-wife, she already had a baby boy. His father killed himself in prison. He was in for armed robbery, I believe. (Better than TV, huh Barb?) Jim is very intelligent but a very free spirit. Bob and I have not seen him for at least 12 years.

Shelley, Oh no!! Please take care of yourself. ((HUGS))

Susie, I am so sorry for you, too. You think it is getting worse? Dixie won't let me post the most appropriate word here. (((HUGS)))

Donna, I'll send you an e-mail.

Peg, I am so glad your DH is "doing something." A week and a half to read the MRI??? That sounds like a long time. Is he taking anything for the pain?

I had to laugh when you said you would only believe I'd get Roadrunner when it happens. Am I really that bad? Sorry.

I just went advanced and saw all the smilies. Dixie, you done real good.

Everyone else:

Good morning everyone. Do I need to introduce myself? It's 10:00 and I am still sitting around in my pajamas. I'll manage to get dressed before noon -- maybe. I have sort of evolved into doing "homework" on Saturday mornings so that I can get it out of the way and enjoy the remainder of the weekend. I'm afraid that the things I need to do today may roll over from Saturday morning until Saturday afternoon. I came to the conclusion a few days ago that the computer is a great invention and wonderful tool, but it is a massive drain on time. I have so many more things that have to be done than I ever thought about doing 20 years ago. Today's project is to finish a powerpoint to be used for a parent's night event, and to add some annimation to a new powerpoint that I created a couple of weeks ago. Truthfully, I wouldn't be dressing up the newly created one if I didn't know that I was going to have an observation evaluation one day early next week.

Alida -- so scary about the step-son. I hope he is improving and that he has no lasting problems from the head injury.

Barb -- I smile each time I read your posts. You are radiating a springtime happiness that should be bottled and passed around for us all.

Brenda -- Deep thoughts... especially about going back to school. A knitting yoga teacher??? interesting combination for a workshop. I am loving the yoga classes that I have been attending. The studio where I have been going is offering a "private" class for employees of my school at an exceptional rate. Since the sessions that I signed up for end next week, I am definitely going to move to the new class and time.

Berta -- Occasionally, here, there are people (generally illegals) that will do housework at incredibly low rates. It doesn't take long though for them to figure out that they should be charging more. The biggest problem with having them work for you is the language issue. My Spanish is the pitts. I envy your opportunity to be out in weather good enough to get a sunburn. We've had temp swings in the last week. It's cool but sunny here today.

Donna -- How is babysitting going? Wear that little guy out. You might find that when he gets the one on one attention that you are providing this weekend that he is much better. He may be a little terror because he is fighting for his place in the pack. I'm glad to hear that your son is talking again. How is your daughter doing?

Heather -- Don't you have your big weigh in soon? Are you going to make it?

Mary Kay -- Are you still around? How's the foot, and how's the URI? I hope you are feeling better at both ends.

Peg -- I had a dream last night. Seldom do I ever remember one, but you were in it. A number of women were in a van going to some tourist attraction and you were in the front passenger side. I was in the back. I remember telling the lady sitting next to me how I knew you and about the conversion in OK. You looked marvelous with your red hair and blonde streaks.

Shelley and Susie -- I hope you guys are feeling better, too. There is nothing worse than fever, coughing and all the other parts of URIs. Take care of yourselves! (Shelley-- I loved the pics of Kassie in the sink.....too cute! **where is that cat icon?)

OK girls, I've got the get up and do something productive. Actually, the battery on the laptop is going to run out if I don't get off soon. Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi Gang!

Judy: So...........why wasn't I in the back seat with you??? That's where I would rather be!! dance2

Dh is gone until this afternoon and I am sitting around. I, like you Judy, have plenty that I COULD be doing, but, well, I'm sitting around. I, too, know what it is to have the computer take all your time. That's what happens to me. And, I don't even have an excuse like teaching! I'm just cruising here, doing email, and cruising another website that I like to read and post.

But, I do have to get up soon and move my bones. My feet (both of them) are swollen up like summer sausages. Not sure why. I could get away with it if it were just the right one, but my left foot is bad too. We went to a dinner theater last night and I must have had something to eat that was very salty. I didn't add any salt, but who knows these days. Anywhoo, I'm pushing the water. It was opening night of a review of movie songs, with a pretty good ensemble. However, the whole thing was three hours! Yikes! THAT's probably why my feet swelled up.

Bren: I've been watching Illinois just get pounded with weather lately. I hope that you are finding things to do inside. However, your yoga/knitting day today sounds just lovely knowing you. So, let's cogitate and ruminate together. I've been ruminating. Though, I suspect that I am ruminating on something different than you are cogitating on. I learned last night that the writing group here have been discussing me and my invitation to the group. Sheesh! They want to keep the group small so everyone gets a chance to read. I DO understand that, but I have an aversion to "closed" groups. Now, don't get me started. I know that one needs to close therapy or support groups, but a writing group? Hmmmm

Oh Shel: I'm so sorry that you have the creeping crud. Boy, this is the time when you need a Mom to come in, huh? My Mom used to do that when I was a young Mom with three girls under six. One time, all five of us came down with the stomach flue. That was terrible. Do, take care, dear one. If I were closer, I would be there in a heartbeat!

Alida: about your dh's stepson! Sheesh! Is his Mother still living? And, from the snippet of the story you told, it sounds as though you are going to be given an invitation to the "soap opera" club that is a subset of the ring around the fire we have here.

Oh, and by the way, gang, I don't need a fire today! We are going to be 75 degrees! Eat your hearts out!

Donna: This is my dd: But, I did write her a nice email the other day and got a nice one in reply.

Barb: I hope that this is a weekend that you can get some sleep!

MK: See above for the status of my foot/feet. Sheesh. Hope that yours is seeing a little improvement.

Susie: Oh, jeez, girl! I do hope that you see some improvement soon, too.

Heather: Hope that things are going well for you.

Bert: Good to see you

Well, I need to go and do those things that I have been putting off until dh was out of the house. Now, if I can only remember what they are.

Love y'all: Peg

I think you must have already been in the van when I got picked up. Neither of knew the other one would be there. I remember sort of doing a double take then giving you a little wave before I was engaged in the conversation with the lady next to me. Aren't dreams funny? Like I said, I rarely remember one, then to have one I remember have you in it.....most unusual. I guess that means that you are pretty important to me.

Hi, Kids. I'm not sure I can handle all the smilie excitement around here!

Looks like everyone is taking care of business. Sorry about your bad news, Alida. But it sounds like the man has been taking life as it comes for quite a while. Let's hope for a full recovery.

I've cleaned house, practiced the horn, visited my dad. I think it's time for a break. There's an art show at one of the malls--good for an afternoon stroll. The sun is shining, the temp is moderate. Good day not to hang around the house.

That's about it. Great to read all your newsy posts. And of course you are all in my thoughts and prayers on all matters of family, weather, and the meaning of life.

Sunday morning, and answering my own post.

The art fair was entertaining. We met up with three retired Hallmark artists, who bent my ear reminiscing (usually not for the good) about the old days at the old haunt. All assured me that there is life after Hallmark--but I certainly know that. And I am retiring under totally happy conditions.

I have been invited to participate in a book review discussion sponsored by the KC STAR. At the end of March, I'll be part of a newspaper article on The Gathering by Anne Enright. Don't tell me anything if you've read it already. So far, it's intriguing.

Church this morning. Social event this afternoon. I think my adrenaline level has dropped a bit, and I feel rested today. I'll need to pace myself carefully through the next few weeks. What I don't need is an immunity crisis.

Have a blessed day, my friends.

good morning ladies.
yes, I'm still around. working, dealing, counting down the days until vacation. We leave Ohio (crazy weather) for Orlando the last Thursday of the month.
I'm looking forward to it, but dreading the drive down. Yes - nerves are still quite active in my toe. but I do better when I am out walking. working and sleeping are the biggest problems.

Sounds like a lot of fun upcoming projects for you Barb. Definely a busy non-work life already.

I'm sorry you are down now Shelley. I'm sure you wont get the same special treatment you gave - and hope you get well quickly.

I have some small, nagging coughing going on. very shallow, but making the asthma act up.

Gonna be a rough winter for most of us health wise it sounds like. I hope you feel better Heather, and hit your goal. I get worn out reading about your exercise routine.

Hoping the feet are less angry now Peg. my foot still turns red when I take a shower. I'm trying to keep the second toe taped to the middle one. It took a beating in the surgery - and seems to be trying to work its way under the big toe. Feet are so weird some times.

Hope everyone feels better - and spring gets here soon to brighten up the days.
