Morning all, with special thoughts to the sick and hospitalized loved ones around us.

We had 6-1/2 inches of snow yesterday our newspaper says--looks about right from what dh is blowing off the driveway. But the sun is out and that makes my day ok.

Barb, DDAD has bought two coffeepots since Christmas and they've both been defective as heck. One was one of the more expensive Mr. Coffee's and one was a very expensive Cuisinart, which leaked water straight through the electronic from the getgo. Most are made in China and Mexico now, of course, so what can I say. I wish we'd read reviews on amazon before we'd purchased either one. Dad's back to his old one for the time being.

Alida, the show sounds wonderful, and I'll bet the sight of all the delighted little princesses was a delight.

Heather, have much fun decorating eggs with the kids today

We have to get a few groceries and run errand a bit later. Easter here will be just the two of us--Dad's in Arkansas--and I have some spiral ham in the freezer that will work just fine. Alida, I might take your idea and do brunch

Indeed, prayers and good thoughts going out to those you with loved ones who are ailing.

Congratulations to Barb on paying off your mortgage. You should be getting kudos from Dave Ramsey soon. Really, that is a very wise move.

Nothing like big March snow events, Bren. We had one just two weeks ago.

DH & I are staying close to home this weekend. Had our Easter dinner last Sunday before the boys went back to school. They report it's been rough this week getting back into their routine. DS1 is finishing his senior thesis and will present on Sat., April 19th. Shortly thereafter, both will begin cramming for finals.

Alida, I'm sure it was fun seeing those little girls completely carried away with everything around them. Did you snap any photos?

Shell, must be fun to have a little one around the house again. I know Kassie is fun, but sounds like she keeps you busy.

Hugs to all my girls.

Hi guys,
Taking a *sit me down* break from some chores; well, ironing actually.
Getting spring and summer things closer to the front of the closet, and most of those things requires ironing...ack! However...I know better than to put away my cords and blazers just yet! I'll give 'em another week or so, then they will get moved to the other closet.

Barb...what brand of coffee maker did you end up with? We've had a Bunn for years...gosh, the one we have now, I think is at least 8 or 9 years old. The Bunn before that lasted that long or longer. I really think small appliances today are only made to last a few years...sigh. Everything is disposable. For a while I went through toaster ovens like crazy. Three or four in a row; I finally gave up and went back to the old pop-up toaster.
Did you happen to catch the ice dance free dance competition last night?
Belbin & Agosto, the best US pair finished in 4th place. They had a bad short/compulsory program.

Alida...LOL...No, I don't think bff will be checking out my filters in my vent hood and microwave, but...I had no idea there was one in the top area of my microwave. I pull the ones out of the hood about 3 or 4 times a year and give them a good cleaning; the one I found yesterday had NEVER been cleaned!!! Yikes!! It wasn't that bad; I was really surprised!

Bren...hope you are defrosting and melting! It's just wrong to be covered in snow on Easter! 'Nuff said! What area in AR does your dad visit? Dh has cousins in the NE part that we may try to go see in the next month or so for a little get away.

SistaSue...Kassie definitely keeps me on my toes! She is sooooo different from our other cat at that age. Kinda funny that the different breeds are so different, but yet so much alike. She definitely rules the house!

Heather...Kass doesn't really make any sounds yet when she is birdwatching. But her body language is a hoot! She *low-crawls* to the door...you know, crouched very low to the ground...she almost flattens herself out, and she also *lowers* her ears. She will stop in mid step and hold very still...almost like a bird dog on point. She is hilarious when she is in *sneak up on the birds* mode...like the birds can't see her! ha! LOL!

Peg...hoping things are much improved for Bob today. Prayers continue.
Bert, Judy...status quo...and that's a good thing, eh?

Everyone else...hope you are doing good!

Guess I will settle in later and try to decide which movie I want to watch...it's not like I haven't seen them both a ka-billion times...
The Ten Commandments or The Sound of Music.

Wishing you all a very Hoppy Easter!

(((hugs to all!)))

The day is winding down. I ended up buying a ten-dollar four-cup coffee pot at Walgreens, since "someone" is determined to "fix" the one I had. After he's done taking it apart, I'll consider shopping for a Bunn.

We went to Home Decorators to look at bookshelves and filing cabinets disguised as nicer furniture. Didn't buy anything today, but I
have a better idea what I want. I think shopping is exhausting, so I'm kicking back this evening with a glass of wine and the new Time Magazine.

Happy Easter everyone.

I love both movies, lots of childhood memories. My father was the owner and operator of several drive-in movie theaters in our area back in the day. I remember the cars lining up as far as the eye could see waiting for the gate to open. He always made sure to show those classic cartoons for the kids before the movie. Families would come early just so their kids could play on the playground down on the lawn in front of the screen. Wow, what a trip down memory lane.

Barb, we have a Bunn that I bought when DS1 was in kindergarten and he's getting ready to graduate from college. My vote goes for a Bunn. Don't get the model with a stainless steel thermal pot. We have one of those at work and it's not handy at all.

Bren, DH & I are having Easter together, just the two of us.

Off to change into my jammies and watch a movie with DH.

Just want to say night to everyone and if I don't talk to you all until later:
Going to be a busy Sunday morning since DH has to be to work at 8am. I need the car for church so will need to get the kids ready for the drive to DH work. This means we'll have to get up extra early to hide the eggs and watch the kids have fun. Can't wait!! DH got me The Writing Diet by Julia Cameron for Easter today! I bought him his favorite vinegar and oil jar combo (what a funny gift!) and a new tea jug. He was thrilled - lol. Thought it was funny that we're getting older and are buying each other useful things. We do appreciate them and I feel blessed at his thoughtfulness.

Sus, we'll have a quiet holiday, won't we. I know you are missing the boys, though.

Shell, Dad visits Batesville, which is NE Arkansas, too. He was born in Yellville, though, up in the hills and down in the holler

Heather, what fun watching children on an Easter Egg Hunt Enjoy them! The Writing Diet? That's one from Julia Cameron I hadn't heard of.

Speaking of books, though, I heard Dr. Judith Beck on WPR (Wisconsin Public Radio) this afternoon and was impressed. Here's a link.
Train Your Brain
Peg, her father is Aaron Beck, of CBT fame. I've ordered it from our inter-library service.

Peg, Judy, Bert, thoughts are with you. Do let us know what's up when you can. Judy, one more day before it all starts again?

Barb, my favorite coffee pot is a percolator actually. Now how old fashioned is that?
Alida, enjoy your buffet brunch.
Donna, MK, Rachel, hugs

The sun managed to dry off the streets, but the rest of the snow remains stubborn. Nevertheless there was a most gorgeous cardinal feeding in the back yard where I'd thrown some seed. He was so vibrant against the snow that I just watched and never thought to get the camera. Mrs Cardinal was being shy in some nearby shrubs

Happy Easter! Or, as we said in the Courtyard at church at seven o'clock this morning: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

We didn't see the sun come up, and it was a bit chilly for outdoor worship. But there we were. I woke up at 6:52--with eight minutes to get there. I hopped like a bunny! Now I'm home again, to get ready for Sunday school and "big" church.

For all those of us here who are keeping vigil over loved ones, many prayers and hopes pour out. For all those of us celebrating our blessings, much gratitude.

I'm drinking a cuppa from my little coffee pot. But, as it turns out (oh me of little faith!) my friend DID fix my other coffee pot. The hard part was figuring out how to get the bottom off--they use special little screws that don't work with any household tool. A hose had popped off the fitting in there. So now he wants the little pot for his workshop as payment. I think I can do that.

Brenda, thanks for the vision of your cardinal in the snow. It will be spring after all.

Still thinking of Judy, Peg and Bert and your loved ones this morning.

Indeed, Barb. What a nice greeting to see first thing on this Easter morn.

I forgot to mention that DH has repaired our Bunn coffeemaker twice during the last 17 years. When DH repairs something small around here I always think of Emmett's Fix-It Shop on Andy Griffith and how not too many years ago someone could actually make a living repairing things. Most small appliances and electronics, even some TVs made today are not meant to be repaired, which means more junk for the landfill.

Yes, Bren, we WILL have a nice quiet, relaxing day with our DHs.

to all my gal pals.

Happy Easter!

Hugs and prayers to Peg, Berta and Judy.

Already 8:25 .... the internet sure does take time. Bob has decided he wants voice recognition software. I did some investigating and found that I will probably need a new sound card, too. Best Buy later in the week!

Coffee Pots? Bunn? My boss has a Bunn and swears by it. I, too, am using an old one after the pot I got last Christmas bit the dust. I want to hold off getting a new one until we get a new dishwasher. Our old DW is destroying anything made from glass. The spots are impossible to remove.

Time to get in Easter Brunch mode. Have a wonderful Easter, everyone. Much love to you all.

A very happy and joyous Easter to all of you who celebrate. We've just finished our weekly call to dh's Mom, who as always has returned from early Mass. Actually, it's dh's weekly call, although I do say "hi." Most often, his mom and I talk on Wednesday. She'll have Easter alone, since sadly dh's brother who lives 1-1/2 hours away never thinks to include her except for Christmas. So let us count our blessing, those of us who have any loved ones at all to share today with.

Another beautiful, cold day. We'll have spiral ham later. Don't tell anyone, but the lovely slices for today are frozen leftovers from New Year's

Later friends

Happy Easter to each of you............ and thank you all for your thought and prayers for my dad over the last week. It appears that we made the correct decision in having the feeding tube placed in his stomach. He seems to be adjusting well, and the increased nutrition is already helping him to improve. His voice is stronger and his head is generally clearer. We are hoping that with his physical, speech, and occupational therapies that he will also be able to regain some mobility. Currently one of the big problems is that he has lost so much flexibility in his hands that he can't control the TV. THAT is an issue!!

Yes, Brenda, school starts again tomorrow. I did manage to dig through some of the filth around here by spening about 6 hours scrubbing and cleaning on Friday. I have a couple of sewing repairs that need to be done today, and when DH wakes up from his nap, I will try to get in and straighten out the closet. Like Shelley, I will bring warmer wear things to the front and take the heaviest of winter things out. We will continue to have cool days for a while. By the first of April we should be past any really cold days.

Peg, we are all anxiously awaiting a check in from you.

Hugs around the pool for the rest of you. I really appreciate all your concern.

Hey Girlfriends!

90 degrees here today! Now THIS is what Easter Sunday is supposed to look like!

Dh came home yesterday (Sat). He is better. He is walking with a walker and a very big stiff brace. No pain meds though. He is a marvel. His heart seems okay.

I've been running from the moment my feet hit the floor this morning until dd and her dd came for dinner today. They brought it all, and cleaned it up for me. I am going to bed as soon as the sun goes down! Dh needs me to wait on him. I totally understand, and don't resent it at all, but it is work!!!

See ya all soon,
Peg
