Mary Kay Hope this is a great day for you!

Another gorgeous day here. Sorry, Shell...I know you're having crappy weather. I just have to gloat after the terrible winter we had.

Barb: Thank you for starting us off each day. What would we do without you? You're right too about me being so upset about the up and down lbs. It's just that I've been so close to goal for so long...I really want to see those numbers. Plus, I'm scared that my weight is creeping up and I'm going to end up back where I started.

Shelley: Hope your weather is better now. I don't think I could live where you have to worry about tornadoes. Guess you just get used to it?

Heather: Whew...glad to hear the kids are better. Now you can relax and have some "me" time again.

It's another busy week at work. Getting ready for invoices on Thursday. The boss will be leaving for meetings in Vancouver on Thursday so I'll at least have two days where I won't have to be chauffeur as well as secretary.

Did any of you catch Oprah's new show last night? We really enjoyed it. Makes you appreciate what you have that's for sure.

Okay...I'm off to shuffle more paper.

Mary Kay, I'm told they make some cute Belated Birthday cards. Here's one now! These days I mark birthdays by what new senior benefits I can get. This year, I'll qualify for early Social Security if I want it.

I trek off to the workplace every day, as required by my retirement specifications. I pack a box, and put it in the car. Work some (I do have a residual assignment or two). And leave early. I am already so "not there." It has been nine months (yesterday) since Larry died. I think the gestation of my new life is complete, and I'm about to bust out.

Off to morning Bible study. That will be part of the continuity of my ongoing life. One good reason to be part of a church community is they can't kick you out. P. S. Well, yes...some of them CAN kick you out. But not mine.

Smile as much as you can today!

Good morning!

Coming very late to the party here. First Mary Kay! Sorry this is belated, but it is with every good wish for much health and happiness!

I have to switch my LCE time around. Early mornings are not working out. I am going to bed later and getting up much later and don't have the time. I am going to try posting when I get home.

So I am still alive, still fat, and still very much love you all. I just just trying to get a handle around this new schedule. XXOO

Morning ladies. Alida, so good to see you again, I was getting worried.

Barb: It must be such a good feeling to know that you will soon be doing exactly what you want, when you want. It will be quite a few more years before I will be able to do that.

We seem to be getting fewer and fewer posts in here every day. What's happening?

I read an article yesterday about using the treadmill. It said for maximum fat burning and to lose weight you should be alternating your speed. So, I started out at 3.3 mph and at .100 I jumped to 3.6 then the next .100 back to 3.3 I did this for just over a mile. Definitely was puffing by the time I was finished. I can feel it in my abs this morning...but the scale managed to jump back the lb. that I had gained. Dh thinks this is just hilarious....if he keeps up the giggling he's going to be very sorry! lol

Sunday, I changed all the tunes on my IPod. This time it's all
50's songs. While I like the songs they are all much to slow for the speed I walk. Guess I'll have to do it all over again. I'd love to take the time to go over each song one at a time before I download them...so far I've just put a CD in and downloaded the whole thing.

My left eye is just about driving me nuts!! A couple of days ago I started getting funny bright lights flashing in it. I know it can mean a migraine without the pain cause I've had it before. Last night it was really a light show! I figured it would be gone when I woke up this morning..but no. When I turn my head it's like black things floating in front of my eyes. I'll be thinking about making a dr. appointment today.

Back to work for me....come on back everyone...your posts are missed.

I love this avatar. What's the impression? Who is the elephant in the room? What exactly does that mean anyway - lol.
-
Feeling good, went grocery shopping and stocked up on healthy foods. Tonight the family will have taco's on low carb tortilla's while I have a taco salad. Yummy!
-
Have some energy so am moving at 2.5 on the treadmill. Taking it slow but enjoying getting in exercise of some sort.
-
Did I tell you guys that when I first joined someone was talking about TOM and how they couldn't lose weight. The way it sounded I thought this was some gal's DH and I was getting angry reading her post and almost said something. But...being I was new I figured I butt out and let someone else say something. Can you imagine their reaction if I did? lol Is that where the elephant in the room picture would come in?

Hi guys,
Just stopping in to say hey. I know it's been a while, but sometimes the daily routine gets all out of sync, yanno? (Alida, I bet you do!)

Donna...on our weather, our California relatives used to tell us that they just couldn't live with the threat of tornadoes. My Nana told her sister, "well at least we have a warning, with an earthquake, you have no warning and just get swallowed up in a big hole! We choose to go into the hole(meaning storm cellar) here in Oklahoma, not the hole choosing us like the earthquakes do!"...or something to that effect. Anyway, we know when to watch, listen, and act; it's just a way of life!
I do hope you get that eye checked out and soon. Don't want to scare you, but several things come to mind when you are having *floaters*(the black things that float by in your visual field)...like detached retina, elevated eye pressures(glaucoma), and even elevated blood pressure can be accompanied with visual disturbances. End of Mother Hen speech!

Heather...well, I'll tell you what I know about pink elephants
Waaaaay back in *yesteryear*, when a person got drunk and "saw things" that were, ummm, how should I say this?..."abnormal" or not even there at all, the old saying was "he got so drunk he saw pink elephants last night"...yatta, yatta, yatta. I vividly remember my mom and dad chuckling about one of my dad's co-workers that had to much to drink at the annual Christmas party, and that ole "Joe" was probably still seeing pink elephants the next morning. I asked could I please go to Joe's house and see the pink elephant. My parents had to quickly explain the pink elephant gig to me. LOL. I think I was probably about 4 or 5 years old. So, that's what I know about pink elephants! hehe!

Alida...yes, it was sooooooo good to see you had checked in here this morning. I also know how you feel about getting your usual routine up-ended. I think I may be turning into more of a late night person than the early bird I used to be. sigh. Not good, really. I plan to be out the door and walking or biking by 0630 at the latest when spring really rolls around. I seem to do much better if I can get my exercise in early in the day versus the later part of the day.

Barb......just 8 more work days and you'll be a loose cannon, eh? I love my status of occasional/flex time at work, so I know you'll love your new life of NO work and ALL play! LOL.
Well, you know what I mean! You can definitely be choosey about what you want to work at, not the other way around.
I have a pretty good idea you will stay plenty busy, missy!

Bren, sistaSue, Peg, Judy,MK, Bert...big waves to you all!
Hope you are having good weather and a worry free day!

I think DH and I are gonna head over to our favorite little Mexican cafe' for our dinner date tonight. We haven't been there in a couple of weeks, so a nice beef fajita salad sounds pretty tasty to me. I'm hoping it will be tasty anyway...my tastebuds are STILL wonky from my URI...can you believe that??? I would really like to taste my carbs and calories, yanno?

later, chickadees
(((hugs all around)))

Funny Shelley! Last time I had a drink was maybe 5 years ago? So I guess it's been sometime since I've seen these guys around. Guess I gave up drinking when I realized it gets me into trouble. lol

Hey guys, I'm here! I've been studying my MS Office, sending out a few resumes, trying to fight my way through the paperwork jungle of my little office here, and knitting like nobody's business in the evening to keep my little fingers out of the figurative cookie jar. Still, I'm waking up some nights after dreaming that I'm watching my thighs grow--I'm not going to analyze that one. Too obvious.

I have an interview for a pt job tomorrow that would be a breeze to do and within walking distance, but I'm not sure if it's a courtesy interview or if they are seriously considering me. It's with the physical therapy group where I was a patient last fall and winter. Very nice people, though, and either way I'm pleased they called.

I also reinstated myself with the hospice I volunteered for until a couple of years ago. The volunteer coordinator seemed absolutely thrilled to see me. I was going to request office rather than patient assignments, but the need for patient volunteers is great, so..... I'll go to their next training session before I start, though. Evidently quite a few things have changed since I last saw patients. Have to get a tb test, too. Uck.

Hang in there, kids!

Good afternoon!

It's already 5:30 after looking through some e-mails. this thing with my sister is getting really annoying. I wish all the people involved would talk with one another instead of me.

Brenda! Good luck with the interview. If you got the job, what type of work would you be doing there?

Shelley, that was a good explanation of living here in tornado alley. I think I have mentioned living here for almost 30 years and have not been in one yet. That's not to say there haven't been some 15-20 miles away, though!

Pink elephants? That brings back memories of our Leawood house when we moved in. The downstairs half bath wallpaper was ... pink elephants! And the dining room had ... gold eagles. That stuff came down rather fast. Matter of fact, that's the house we practically gutted.

BARB!! Only eight more days? Where has the time gone? I am so happy and excited for you!

DONNA, listen to Shelley. Floaters could be normal or could be something else. I have the normal kind. After a few months, I am used to them.

Where's Barb? Pretty weird for me to check in to see what's happening and she hasn't been here yet. I can't believe how few days she has left............ I'm jealous.

State testing for English/Language Arts today. This is a LONG test day that involves everyone. Yipee Skippy.

Hi, Judy. I "slept in." It's 6:30 now, and I'm takin' it slow. I've caught a bug--probably from my boss--and I'm trying to decide whether to head for the office today or not. I'm thinking half a day. Basically, "all" I've got is a sore throat. No fever. No stuffiness. Ack. Just what I needed. I think this is evidence that I havestressed out, whether I care to admit it or not. Even "good" stress takes its toll.

So much for all my perkiness, which all of you must be finding deeply annoying right now. At least you know it's something I can't help.

I'll check in later.

Hey gang, been a day - lol. Donated plasma and today it was painful. It normally isn't so must have a sore arm from last Friday and didn't know it. I've been doing this for 4 years and this time I had a hard time holding back the tears. I'll have to use the other arm for a bit which doesn't usually get good results. I rested as soon as I got home which I like to do after donating. Now I'm getting in my walking while DH picks up the kids from school. Tonight church! Need to try to get in a good meal, homework and some cleaning before I head out.
-
Brenda - When my friends mama was dying from cancer those hospice ladies were like angels for the family. Without people like you I don't know how the family would have managed being barely 30 and never experienced anything like this in their life.
-
Alida - Pink elephants in a bathroom? lol It sounds like a very entertaining family that once lived there.
-
Judy - Hope that your testing day goes smoothly.
-
Barb - Your perkiness is what I love. Hope you feel better soon.
