Hello ladies.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. We made our annual first week of March trip down to Orlando/Daytona for Bike Week. Had a wonderful week with hubby. We only made it to Daytona once, but we did quite a bit of motorcycle riding.

I got my second (and probably last) birthday tatoo. (seems to happen in leap year).
I had been waiting for a special dragonfly tatoo, and they are 'the thing' this year. I got a very colorful and pretty one - I'll post a pic when I have one.

We came back to the BLIZZARD and awful roads. We wanted to get back last night but hit sleet and black ice on roads and it was dark so we stopped in a holiday inn - 80 miles from home. How nuts is that.
but we got a good nights rest, and headed out in the daylight this morning - although there were several more inches of snow by then. Took us over 3 hours to do the last 80 miles, and that was on Interstate 75. Yikes.

so, home and ready to focus. I did alright on vacation. some treats, but LOTS and LOTS of walking.

I hope everyone is feeling better and doing well.

Saturday afternoon:
Yes, Brenda, sleeping in (tee hee)--but up quite early and out to the retirement village for my uncle's memorial service. Scads of relatives to meet and greet. A beautiful service, with memoirs from each of Uncle Bob's three talented children. After that, a gathering at my aunt's, followed by committal service at the cemetery. What with my residual cold, it's been a tiring day. But I'm feeling very much better. Yes, the Z-pack packs a wallop--in a good way.

Heather, I will most certainly pray for a successful outcome for your family with Habitat for Humanity. I have participated in several "builds" in my unskilled way, and I am very proud of the organization, and the owners who give their hearts to it. You deserve it.

Brenda, maybe you don't want that library job, if the interviewer will be your "boss." She sounds like a little czarina. I hope you find a good fit.

Don't forget to SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD tonight. And go to bed early. I know I will.

See you tomorrow, my dears.

Oh Barb, I'm so sorry. I didn't remember your uncle's services today and certainly wouldn't have teased you if I had. Forgive me!

FINALLY! Got to feeling like exercise today. Walked for about 40 minutes earlier, had a restful afternoon and thought I'd walk a bit tonight.
-
Judy - A degree in library science - lol!
-
MaryKay - I love dragonfly's. Sounds like a very pretty tattoo and I can't wait to see the picture.
-
Barb - What a day you've had my friend. Hope you are able to get the rest you need this evening. Take care. // Thank you!! I can't believe they would even ask this housewife to help build a house even if it was my own. I'm excited to learn something new and will just do my best. Just think of how wonderful I feel after I completing a cross stitch project...this feeling will top them all - lol.

Hi Gang!

I'm reading along. Having a fabulous time with dgd!! We went and saw Juno this afternoon. My second time. Her first. She loved it. She is 14, almost 15. We ate so much at the movies that we had to come home and eat again with Papa. (my dh) Now I am just feeling like laying on the floor and groaning!

So good to hear from all of you. Yeah, Bren. I say, thank God your resume doesn't scream "Library." Sheesh! Was that woman CRAZY?

Heather: I can't think of anything better than a Habitat house for you and family! How wonderful!

Barb: Take care, girlfriend!

Today it was in the high 70's. Beautiful!

Love you all,
Peg

Good morning! It's way dark outside, so I guess I'm up at the right time for Daylight Savings. It's no "saving" for me, because I like the sunshine at THIS end of the day. Oh well. All I really want is for the cold weather to come to an end. I like winter just fine, but enough already! Things are beginning to sprout.

MK, just where did you put that tattoo? And the other one? I've thought about getting a tattoo, but never can decide what picture I'd want to have on my body forever. Or where, for that matter. After 40 years on the job, I actually thought it might be fun to have the Hallmark crown logo permanently applied to my backside, like it virtually is already. But now, with retirement just ahead...probably not. And I don't think this falls within "corporate guidelines for logo usage" anyway.

Heather, there are gazillions of jobs involved in building a house that require no skill whatsoever. Sweeping, cleaning up, fetching and carrying stuff, even painting. Besides that, I got pretty good at putting locksets in doors. You won't have any trouble fulfilling your hours requirement--and the kids can help, too. Hopefully, friends from your church can also be recruited.

Peg, it's good to hear the giggle in your voice. Girltime can help a lot. Glad you had some fun with dgd.

Brenda, if you can hold out, it would be great for you to get a job you really like. Somebody is going to be very lucky to get you--but they don't know that right away, more's the pity. Cleaning out my drawers at the office, I found a whole folder of "personality" inventories--leadership style, and all that. Like it helps to know you're a complete management dork when you're already a manager?? Somehow I survived and thrived, and so will you.

Teaching Sunday school this morning (which for me means asking thought-provoking questions, and sorting out the discussion). The afternoon and evening are blessedly uncommitted. If the weather cooperates, I'm ready for a nice long walk. Feeling much better today.

Take care of you, Girlfriends.

Weather is to be in the 50's so I'm wearing a skirt to church. Nice to not bundle up the kids and me. We just got done dropping off DH at work and then drove to the construction site of some other Habitat Homes that are being built. I pray to get excepted and then I doubt I'll be tired of going over there. The more I work the faster our dream home would be built right? DH and I were talking about how if we eat right we should get plenty of exercise to keep away the pounds as well. DH is going to try to lose a bit of weight before then since construction would be in June. He hates the heat. I look forward to short weather myself and nice cool mornings to start building. Guess I'm just staying positive until they give us the okay/no on being approved. Until then if I'm negative I may end up being a nervous wreck so might as well dream it up!
-
Peg - Thank you! After dropping DH off at work this morning (so we could take the car to church) we drove over to some of the homes that are being built. We would build across the street from these builders. They are hard workers! I've been over there a few times since Friday and can't believe how fast they are building. Me and the kids were looking at doors and house colors of what we would choose. DH said no blue so we would do tan with a brown door. / Sounds like you are having so much fun with your dgd. One day I hope to have one of my own.
-
Barb - That is good news! I'm sure some of the jobs like cleaning and sweeping won't be to fond for the men workers so I'll step right up! It sure would be neat to paint the walls of my own home too. / Hope you get that walk and have a good time teaching at Sunday School.

Good morning!

I did forget to set my clock ahead and at 9 a.m. Bob was nudging me to make sure I was still alive. I took 2 Tylenol PMs last night. For some reason I am having trouble sleeping again. I really don't know why.

BARB, is this week your last week? Getting paid for those days you did not take off is just a little icing on the retirement cake. Getting together for lunch will have to be Saturday or Sunday. I think I am back to working full time again. At least, last week I did.

PEG, sorry I have been absent! I ditto everyone's question about what is causing you to "doubt your faith." Is UCC usually more conservative? I know my son Mark is at the more liberal end of his Presby faith. And that "friend" of DH's? What a jerk. And that warning about not leaving DH only during/after his surgery? That would scare the beejesus out of me. Is the surgery this Friday?

JUDY, LOL about you opening the thread in the morning! Time and things change. I am hoping to get back into my old swing of things. I miss you "guys!" Yoga, huh? Helps stress, huh? The most convenient thing for me would be Curves. You used to go there, didn't you?

BRENDA, what the heck is supposed to scream library? Sheesh. You are not applying for a manager's job! You should have told her that you know B comes after A, and 2033.4 comes after 2033.3. And personality tests for a receptionist job? Wow. Have you tried a temp agency? I hear you about DH. I do think he is going to go through a little adjustment time. Bob did.

SHELLEY, LOL about not having anything exciting to write about. Unless I talk about my sister, I am the same way ...Very boring.

MARY KAY, welcome back from vacation! Sorry about the snow, though. A dragonfly? Ditto -- where is it?!

DONNA, I am so glad you were able to see a doctor right away. Fingers crossed that it's just floaters for you. They are annoying, but you do get used to them, I promise! And your DD is doing so well! That must be such a relief for you. -- What's up with the rash behind your knee?? Re: Survivor: yanno, sometimes their reasons for voting one person off are simply amazingly stupid.

HEATHER, that is so wonderful about your home! I might have missed something. The home is being built by Habitat for Humanity. Are you required to "help out?" As Barb says, there are so many things that can be done to help. Oh, you must be so excited!

Well, my sister moved Friday. We got a call from the nursing home telling us "Tammie doesn't live here anymore." Duh. But I did not get a call from the Supportive Living Home that told me Tammie does live there now. Sigh. I asked Tammie to call me Friday night or any time Saturday. She did not. That's one reason I was not on line, to keep the phone line open. Maybe today. I am hoping she is just so excited exploring the new place and meeting new people that she did not have time to call! The City of Chicago bought her a bed, recliner and two lamps along with sheets, pillows and various other supplies. The home where she is now donated a dresser, hutch and night stand. Isn't that wonderful?

Off to start my Sunday. I should go to a paint store and get some more paint samples ... but I don't want to miss my sister's call. Have a wonderful Sunday! XXOO

Alida, now that's finally good news about your sister. Unless they've dropped her off somewhere between locations, I imagine she's doing fine and that checking with you has unfortunately not been at the top of her to do list. How nice she'll have some furnishings!

Barb, you deserve a crown in more than one way even if you don't have it permanently on your behind Had to laugh--corporate guidelines for logo usage, indeed!

MK, welcome back from vacation. Hope you are feeling much less stressed, in spite of the weather you came through. That storm even made the news here, and Chicagoland news tends to only believe weather happens locally.....Oh, yes, tell all about the tatoos. Inquiring minds and all that, especially for those of us too chicken to do it

Heather, do stay positive. There's no reason not to believe you'll be eligible, and high on the list at that. Can't imagine otherwise unless the waiting list is just too long for this round of homes.

Peg, I loved Juno! So glad you're having such a terrific time with dgd. You're making memories she'll cherish forever!

Judy, having a good weekend at home? Certainly hope so!

Shelley, what's up today, Babe? I've been meaning to ask if you've found someone you like to do you nails yet. It sometimes takes a while to find the right hair stylist, etc., I know!

Donna, how's your weather? I'm hoping to hear about signs of spring!

Bert, Susie? Whither are ye? Rachel, as always, thinking of you!

Thanks all for the sympathies re: the library interview. I suppose I need to look at it as good interviewing practice, eh? Today I need to run through the house for a quick pick up and clean, pay bills, maybe start taxes, and definitely take a trip to the library. MY local library, that is

It feels weird having it be 6pm and not looking like the sun is ready to go down yet. It's quite beautiful here at 53 degrees and we've got the windows open airing out the recent sickness. Good news is hoping tomorrow my scale will confirm that I'm in goal range and can go and check in to verify. Last week at LA Weight Loss and I feel pretty confident that I can do this on my own. I feel so blessed to have joined that center but am looking forward to graduating.
-
Alida - We'll know in April if we've been approved to be in the next group of 10 people to build their homes. We have to put in 30 hours a week per family. I'm really excited and if we've been given the okay I would love to help put up the walls and other things in my own home. / Hope you hear that much needed call from your sister soon.
-
Brenda - There really isn't a reason for them to say no so I must keep positive or else I'll give myself an ulcer of worrying this long. Today we drove by the development 2x and watched men work on some one's roof.

I got two days at home! Accomplishments include going to see "No Country for Old Men" (weird ending), washing the dog, cooking real food, and doing some of the ever present homework. I even went to the fabric store and bought two patterns. I needed an uneventful weekend. We have one more week until Spring Break --- Spring Break two years ago was our conversion........ hard to believe that it has been that long. As for plans for this year, I'm sure that we will go to check on Miss O to see how she is doing with her new ear tubes, and take at least a day or two to see about my dad. He has really declined since the stay in the hospital. He is having trouble handling the phone, concentrating on a conversation, or even manipulating the TV controls. What is the guideline? For every one day in the hospital, it takes a week of rehab for the elderly to recover. He's going to need it.

Over and out........... dinner needs attention.

Judy, you needed the down time, for sure. Glad you were able to do some "you" things, even though I imagine washing the dog wasn't high on the list of enjoyable activities. So sorry to hear you Dad's not doing as well as one would wish after his hospitalization. It's tough on all of you.

Heather, oh my I'd love 53 degrees! It's at the freezing point here and we had sn*w flakes this morning. I'm loving the evening light, though. Congrats on your last week. You've done SO very well and I know you have all the skills (and the will) to keep healthy the rest of your life

Well girlfriends, among the "other duties as assigned today" I wrote a "thank you for the interview" letter to Ms. Librarian. At least she can't say I don't know my manners, eh?

And on a more lc related note. Even though I absolutely do NOT want to, don't feel like it and hate the thought (are you getting the drift?) I'm going to start tracking again, as Judy says--good, bad, or ugly. That's the only way I can avoid the inevitable. So I'm joining Shelley and Heather on the Induction Junction thread, which will change shortly Shelley says to an Owl thread. Hope some of you who are feeling the pinch of last year's clothes will come along for the ride.

Hi guys....just a few minutes before Oprah's Big Give starts so thought I'd catch up here.

Brenda; My eye drives me nuts most of the time. It's like having a curtain come across every time I move my eye. Just another thing to get used to with getting older I guess.

If anyone had come in and made a mess of my yard I'd be screaming. Sorry they did that to you!!

Heather: What great news on the house. Sure hope you get on the list of 10 this time around. Your kids would love to have a yard for sure.

Alida: The rash behind my knee turned out to be excema. Just some prescription cream has taken care of it. I really didn't need something else to go wrong.

It was another gorgeous day here today. I started off getting the ironing out of the way and changes the sheets on the bed. Then made a sausage quiche to freeze for breakfasts and some lc english muffins. Then walked the dogs and went outside and washed my Explorer and dh's truck. I can't stand a dirty car!! When I came in I did my exercises and headed for the treadmill. So, today was a pretty productive day.

Yesterday we went to the Legion for the meat draw. Didn't win a darned thing. We ended up sitting at a table with a real fun bunch of people and didn't get home until almost midnight. Poor dh had more than his share to drink and is very, very, sick today. Can't keep any food in! I'm sure it will be awhile before he drinks again. We very seldom drink so I'm thinking we need more practise? NOT.

Is it Spring here? Well, we got an e-mail that the first meeting for the ballteam is on the 16th of this month. A sure sign that Spring is coming and so is ball season. Sorry that some of you are having crappy weather, but it's an early Spring here for sure. Gotta love this daylight saving time too..it was light here until 7 pm tonight.

Talk to you all tomorrow.
