| Taking a break from all the little things I need to get done before Friday and going to the hospital with dh. Went to the hospital with him today for pre-op. Luckily, I suggested that they call the pharmacist to be sure that the Factor 8 that he needs for his blood is there. She did, and it isn't! So, they will order it for him for Friday. Whew. So good to stop in here by the pool to see us all as we variously stop in and say "hi." I've loved reading through the last two days. Here is one of the things that is so great about cultivating friends: about 6 women have called me this week to see how they can help me next week with dh in the hospital. With that here in real time, and you here in virtual time, how can I lose? dance2 |

| That was a good save, Peg. Whew, for sure. It must have been so very reassuring to know that you've made real friends there, they kind that will show their friendship with action. Use them! I did get a job offer yesterday from the physical therapy group, which I considered overnight. I like this place, but even for the type of job it is I felt the salary was a low ball. I've called back to see if there's room for negotiation and should find out tomorrow. Judy, the library administrator said I'd not hear anything after the interview until the end of the month (which I interpret as on a cold day in h*JJ) Meanwhile I have another interview Thursday AM for a full time position with a supplier of library systems for schools, a big player in the industry. I'm actually surprised at being called in to interview--maybe I piqued someone's curiosity ![]()

| Good afternoon! Sorry I missed yesterday. I got a DVD from the library and was anxious to watch the movie -- an old one called "Before Night Falls." Stars that Javier guy who won an Oscar and Johnny Depp as ... a transvestite. The story was heart-wrenching, about a Cuban novelist and the persecution he faced in Castro's Cuba. One of those "art" films! And Tammie did call ... while I was at work yesterday. SIGH. All is well and she likes her new place. She told Bob the food is good! She said she will call me this weekend. This is like a huge weight off my chest. This evening I am going to start listening to a novel on tape called "The Club Dumas." Actually, I am listening to it now. Hard to type and listen at the same time! Heather, Congratulations! If my experience is any guide, now the hard part starts ... staying on track. I hope "eating right" is more ingrained in you that it is in me! Also ... fingers crossed you are on the list for a home this year! Peg, prayers will be sent all week. And how wonderful you have offers to help. That must make your heart feel full! Brenda, that interview coming up with the supplier of library "systems." It isn't 3M by any chance is it? They make those self check-out machines ... which always seem to be broken! I am curious what the library "system" is! Judy, when does Spring break start? Next week? Barb, well, your last Monday has come and gone. Today it's your last Tuesday! Do you feel even just a little twinge of regret about leaving? Just curious! Oh! The Magic Flute. You will love it! I hope the Lyric has a good Queen of the Night. Mary Kay, I am a dummy. I just got wind of the fact that you are a Leap Year Baby! Your tattoos are beautiful! Very pretty and ... feminine. Donna, trust me, you will get used to those floaters! Although every now and then I could swear I see something (or someone) out of the corner of my eye. LOL about DH drinking too much. I hope he's better now. Glad that rash was "just" eczema and not something exotic and befuddling. Shelley, ditto. Come to my house to clean. Every now and then I get into one of those cleaning modes, too. Not often enough, though. Good luck with the dentist! Off to have some dinner and listen to my book. Have a great evening!

| Hi Friends... been reading along, without much imput. Certainly nothing very positive. I returned from a week with my mom in KC.. got there on Monday (cold) drove her to S.E. Ks for the funeral and back to fly out on Friday. Sunday my dh could hardly move due to leg pain. Had a nurse here at the park look at his leg... she said severe cellulitis.. we had to call an ambulance and took him to hospital.. He has a bad infection in his leg, he couldn't stand on it at all or bend it due to pain and swelling. He has a bad rash that we have been treating (Dr. Bert) and it went away and came back.. Anyway he is on heavy duty anti-biotics, hot moist packs continuously and tomorrow a trip to OR for a biopsy of the rash to determine the treatment for that.... probably at least all of this week in hospital for IV antibiotics. So.... Peg glad you have good support group, I too, have one here. Barb.. how excited you must be... just 3 more days... you will be so busy .. you will wonder how you found time to work. Mary Kay.. Loved the tatoos. I've been wanting to do that for a long time.. but, have lots of opposition from dh. Heather... great on the reaching and keeping on goal for a year!!! Brenda... you are getting some good interviews.. hope you can pick and choose what you want. Alida.. Tammie is finally settled, I'm sure that must make you feel a lot more relaxed Shelley.. Do I have to get a number for you to come clean my house??? Are you working much now??? My granddaughter & her husband moved to your fair city. Donna.. hope those floaters float away somewhere else Judy.. have you started spring break?? there are spring breakers here... had an airplane full on the way back down here.. they were having a great time!! So.. hope I didn't miss anyone.. I do keep up 2 or 3 times a day to see what's going on. I had been feeling kind of bored with nothing to write, beware what you wish for ![]() |

| Alida, I never thought about that end of the library system business. This is the book end--Follett Corporation, their Library Services division. They will completely populate a K-12 library, including books, library management software, card cataloging, etc. One stop school library shopping. Another funny--I'm filling out their application, which was emailed to me. Now how long has it been since I've have had to remember my grade point averages in high school and college! Man, that sent me to the dusty archives Can't find anything for HS and I don't think I ever knew. I do know my class ranking, though--5 out of 345. Would have been higher if I hadn't blown off an assignment to put on a puppet show for Speech class![]()

| Hi guys, About to head off to the sofa for some hgtv, then probably to bed a little earlier if possible. Seems I've gotten myself into the nasty little habit of staying up until near midnight each night...yikes!!! I've NEVER been a "night owl", so this is most disturbing, seeing that I don't get up in the mornings until around 08-ish! NOT acceptable! I simply have to get up and moving earlier so I can be out the door to walk or bike. Soooo, if I can't get myself re-adjusted by the end of this week, then I'm afraid I'll have to resort to.... OH NO!!!!..... the dreaded ALARM CLOCK!!!! Blech!!! Anyhoo...it's always something, eh? Alida...glad you heard from Tammy. Also glad she's happy in her new digs. That's important for both of you Bren...Do you prefer part time or full time employment? It's funny isn't it, how some of our group are exiting the workplace, and some are entering...again, or looking forward to slowing down. I may start looking at something on my side of the metro instead of driving 20 miles one way. Closeness to home is an issue with gasoline prices like they are; but, I'm not exactly making the trip every day, so I don't have a fuel bill to worry about at this time.. I do hope you find just the perfect job that fits all your requirements. Peg...soooo glad you will have *some ladies* to drop by and help you when Bob is down. Definitely sending prayers, for skillful surgeons, caring nurses, and a speedy recovery for him. Judy...it's a daily strugle for me right now. These are pounds I've lost before...and really shouldn't have regained them. Darn! The evil evening knoshmonster has been trying to corrupt me lately. He's very hard to deal with and get rid of! har! You might say...an ongoing battle... ![]() Barb...72 hours. 'nuff said! Donna...I, too am a little concerned about the treatment plan for your eye. hmmm....perhaps it's the way of your health system? Still... Bert...soooo glad you popped in! Sorry about your hubby's leg. sheeesh...and he was doing so well, wasn't he? Have they done cultures? I would think yes. Hopefully the biopsy will give a definitive diagnosis. Keep us informed as you can. Later, when things settle down, you will have to tell me more about what part of the metro your DGD moved to... MK...how did your foot do during your vacation? I don't think you've mentioned it??? Sorry, if I wasn't paying attention; airhead takes over sometimes...LOL! Heather...sounds like you were going to have a busy day today. Also sounds like you are beginning to get some *spring time* weather up your way as well. I'm definitely thinking I may get to bike by the end of the week. Although for now, the fitness walking is working out OK. We'll see. Susie...miss ya sweetie! I would bet you are having a blast with your boys at home!!! Enjoy your vacation! OK...off to fight the EEK(evil evening knoshmonster)!!! I'll feed him a bit of cheese and that's it!!! I mean it!!!! (someone get to my house quick and make sure I hang tough!) hehe! later, chickadees! (((chickyhugs))) s

| Good morning, my friends. I wonder what time I'll be dragging my butt out of bed NEXT week? Probably about the same. Yesterday, I collected my retirement gift--a nautical-looking clock in a rosewood box. It's pretty, but doesn't do anything useful, like chime the hours. Berta, so sorry about your dh. I hope they get that infection under control real fast. Being in the hospital is debilitating all by itself. Hope you can find some downtime for yourself. Peg, prayers for you and your dh ongoing. You are wise to be an inquisitive pest during the entire procedure. That glitch with the Factor 8 is not unusual, I'm afraid. It's great that you have local friends to call on for help. Shelley, we could all use YOU hanging around. Your medical knowledge and suggestions and reminders are always welcome input. These days, it's medicine by committee--and it requires the patient or patient's representative to moderate the whole thing. Alida, good to see you on board more often. How's the book? I actually had a chance to watch my Netflix movie--Mystic River. Not a pleasant story, but interesting character study. (Don't rush out to get it.) Now I have Harold and Maude on the way--an oldie, but one I fondly remember. We'll see if it survived over time. Brenda, I've only looked for a job once in my life! Isn't that ridiculous? People ask me for job search advice occasionally, and I say, "How would I know?" As for remembering high school grades--I barely remember high school. I'm sure those applications are geared towards the inexperienced in the population, not someone of your calibre. I'd say "Irrelevant" on any information before the age of thirty. However, 5th in a class that size is extremely impressive. Sunk by a sock puppet, huh? Boy, if I had a nickel for every time I blew off a puppet show.... Heather, it's true that the hard part of weight management begins now for you. Without a specific goal or a reward at some future point in time, it's a matter of being consistently mindful ALL the time. By now, you've had a lot of practice. Every visit here is a reminder that we all have a common challenge. And not an easy one. Gotta run. I'm taking the bus one last time today. Getting a ride home with someone really, really special. ![]() Spring is springing! Woo-hoo! |

| good morning ladies. back from vacation and actually back in my home office. Decided it was time to get 'off the couch' as I have been working from there since the beginning of Dec and the awful foot surgery. Foot is still 'weird' but less painful (or I have just gotten used to it). It actually is less noticable when I am walking - and we did a lot of that on vaation , along with riding. There are nerve problems remaining. I could poke a pin in the inside of the large toe and there is no feeling, but the top feels like I have pins in it all the time. I can bend the toe well (like in heels) manually, but I have no control to lift the toe up - its like a limp fish. but, except for the pain sometimes - it really isn't a bother. got some cute new Sketchers on the trip, and just don't expect much else needed in the near future. vacation was wonderful, restful. we did the Magic kingdom - checked out the revamped Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. The new 'Jack Sparrow' additions to the Pirates ride are amazing. So realistic, and so much Johnny Depp! so, Barb, you are going to be a lady of leisure quite soon. I'm sure you will fill your time easily. You just seem to have so much going on now. work, what work? I hope you get your house, Heather. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity - and i'm sure you will be able to help in many way. so much more to say to the rest - but I have a conference call coming up in a few minutes. bbl.

| Good morning! I actually made it up a half hour earlier this morning. Donna, I missed something. Win?? Lottery?? And both used in the same sentence? Barb, ah the book. The tape with sides 3 and four is broken! Now I hope the library doesn't think I did it. Nautical clock in a Rosewood box? Oh. The kind used on boats. What happened to gold watches, LOL. Brenda, I know Follet's. When I worked with a children's book publisher, they were one of our clients. Bought lots of books! I agree with Barb. A big N/A (but do put 3/345!!). My fingers are very crossed for you. Barb already addressed the Puppet Show angle ..... Berta, I am so glad you stopped in. Many prayers for your husband. Hospitals are wonderful/worrisome. This has nothing to do with his operated leg, does it? Shelley, EEK? That's a great way of describing those PM hungries! Did you win last night? Have a great day! I am back to my regularly scheduled work hours. I sure do miss those days off. XXOO

| Good morning girls. It's been such a long time since I could actually contribute to this thread, I feel like a newbie chiming in today. Please forgive me for not making my way around the room today. I've been following along with each of you, one of the things I looked forward to while trying to stay in touch during the past month. To be honest, I hardly remember February. Between my illness, DH's two rounds with it and the major project at work. All of it put me on overload. Here it is the middle of March and thank goodness, the first day of spring is only 8 days away, I'm ready. We've had two ice storms, some snow and a major snowfall during the past month. We ended up with eight inches of snow last weekend and some big drifts. As with most March snows, it melted away quickly. Made for dangerous driving on Friday while the boys were on their way home from college. The boys are home from college for spring break. Yeah, I know, most people are amazed that they aren't on some beach soaking up the sun. DS1 graduates in May and he's going straight for his master's, like three days after graduation. He wanted to hang out at home, this is all the summer break he will have. DS2 has a local GF. Her university is away, but as luck would have it her spring break is this week, too. They are happy little birds. I am loving the leisurely pace of the week thus far. I'm cooking for the boys and they love it. It's so funny to see them inhale food, even more than usual. Brings back old memories for me. We watched a few good movies this weekend. Across the Universe - storyline based on the hits by the Beatles. If you haven't watched this one, do it. All of us liked it. Gone Baby Gone - sad, but really makes you think. Lots of street language, but necessary for accurate character depiction. Surprise ending. The Darjeeling Limited - silly, offbeat comedy. Things We Lost in the Fire - great acting, interesting story. Sorry this is a me post, lots to catch up on. I won't be posting much the rest of this week while the boys are home, things will get back to normal next week. ![]() |
