my entry today in the exercise thread:

Quote:
shhhhh.....you didn't hear this from me, and I don't want to jinx us residents here in OOOOOOOOOklahoma!....but I think maybe spring is near!
53 glorious degrees with a brisk S wind at 15mph, but it was delightful to walk in! Oh, I did turn my iPod off for a while to listen to the male cardinal who was very obviously courting the female with his song, and the male house finch was equally as entertaining!

walked: 60min/3.41miles/276 calorie burn; added in a few jogging sprints; hope my back doesn't revolt on me tonight.
a *me* post also!
I'll try to get back later...off to hit the shower then some errands to run.

Can I do a me post too... I am like Barb, I like reading about your lives.

DH had a skin biopsy to try to identify the rash. The swelling is down in his leg enough that you can move the calf of his leg. It is the most gawd aawful red that you have ever seen. Blood culture so far is ok. He is on 900 ml of antibiotics drip every 12 hours.. they are starting him on iv drip predisone to get rid of rash.

I've lost at least 5 lbs.. so I wouldn't recommend this, but it always is a great weight loss program for me. Cafeteria is under remodeling in hospital... so no food readily available.

Take care everyone... I am reading along ... and wish you all the best

another "me" post in today's line up...... DDad had to be taken back to the hospital this morning. They are not sure exactly what his problem is/was. Initial thoughts were that he had a stroke. If it was one, it was a mini --- he lost sight for some time. Other suggestions are that he could have had a blood clot that dissipated or even a hallucination caused from medications. The hospital is keeping him overnight with the thought that he will be released tomorrow. His vision has returned and he is not having headaches or other side effects. Bottom line --- he's not good and he's not getting any better.

Same here, Bert and Judy. Prayers to you both.

Peg, I know you are in major preparation mode. Prayers to you, too.

And how 'bout hugs all around?

Oh boy. These are rough days for so many of you.

Peg, big prayers for today.
Berta, hope things are progressing for your dh. Hospital vigil is like being on another planet.
Judy, a difficult journey for you with your DDad.

Alida's hard at work. Brenda would like to be. Donna--well, always on the go!! What did you decide to do with the five thou? Gosh, that's a bit of pocket money we could all use.

I'm off to hang out at the office for a short day. Lunch will be at a nearby hotel, honoring Blood Donors. My cubicle is cleared out, so I guess I'll just wander around saying good-bye to people. And watching them be so-o-o-o jealous.

Tuesday, I was getting all teary-eyed about this. But not today.

Love "me" posts, too!

I was so busy at work yesterday I forgot to eat. Maybe a few less carbs will start the "I am not hungry" ball rolling. Amazingly, I am avoiding the night munchies.

Barb, whoops. I forgot you got the gold watch for your 25th. Is tomorrow your last day? And is this the weekend you will be walking the run?

Donna, now I know I missed something. I read "lottery" a few days ago and this morning I read $5,000. Congratulations!! Wow. I would get a new driveway in a heartbeat!

Berta, (((HUGS))) and prayers.

Peg, (((HUGS))) and prayers, too. Is the operation today or tomorrow?

Judy, (((HUGS))) and prayers. Very difficult days.

Susie, sounds like you are having a little fun being Mom again! I haven't seen any of those movies. I forgot about Across the Universe." With Bob's schedule now, a movie is just too hard to schedule. DVD in a few months!

Shelley, I forgot to mention a comment you made about the dreaded alarm clock. I feel the same way, too. I hate waking up to an alarm clock. I spend my time awake waiting for the darn thing to go off. with my hearing problems, I often will not hear it.

I have to print out a rather large template for a lead job I am doing next week. I am having problems and I think it's with the Illustrator program. I have done this process for years with no problem. Always something.

Have a good day, everyone. XXOO

Peg, Berta and Judy, prayers and good wishes being sent to you and yours. Please keep us posted on the progress of your loved ones. Hanging out at the hospital is exhausting for everybody.

Alida, the movies I mentioned have already been released to DVD. Another good one is Into The Wild. The true story about Christopher McCandless, the young man who went into the Alaskan wilderness to live.

Barb, hope today is full of smiles and hugs.

Good morning ladies. So many things going on in our little world here.

Berta, Judy: Prayers to both of you. I'll be thinking of you both today. And Peg...I know you'll be in a lot of prayers the next couple of days. Hope everything goes smoothly.

Barb: Didn't get the money yet. We had to make an appointment with the lotteries since dh is a retailer. I don't understand why this should be a big deal seeing as the ticket wasn't bought at our store. Rules are rules. He's furious...it's just taken the excitement away for me.

Alida: We don't have a driveway so I can't spend the money there. lol I'm sure it will just be sunk back into our business which sure isn't fun. But, it was dh who won the money so it's up to him. (if it was up to me...I'd love to come and visit everyone here!!)

Susie: We just bought that movie..Into the Wild. I saw something on Oprah where his family was talking about the fellow. Thought it would make a good movie.

Well guys, it was a chilly night in our house last night. The night before the belt on the furnace broke. Dh taped it together and it ran that night. Yesterday he went and bought a new one. Couldn't get it to run. He has a friend who does furnace repair and I kept telling him to call Ed. He refused. Said he didn't want to call him at night. He finally put the old belt on all taped up but it worked...until 4 am when it broke again. When I woke up this morning it was definitely a run to the bathroom and get dressed quickly to stay warm. If the furnace isn't fixed today...well lets just say dh will be in the dog house.

Speaking of dog houses, I had to take Sora to the vet yesterday. Noticed a redness around her private parts that looked pretty sore. She needed blood work for her thyroid pills anyway so I wanted this looked at. I thought they might want a urine sample so I wouldn't let her pee before we left. The vet decided she might have an infection from a bladder infection. I said no...she wasn't running to the door to go out or crying when she peed. She wanted an xray to rule out a kidney stone and said she would insert a needle into her bladder to get a good urine sample. Great! First I should say that this dog is the biggest baby you have ever seen. She will yelp and cry if you look at her wrong and hurt her feelings. That said the vet took Sora to the xray room, tried to get her to lay on the table and then watched the dog pee all over the machine. I thought she was going to take the sample first! So much for checking her urine..it was all gone. They did the xray...no stones. Then they took the blood sample which has to be sent to Vancouver. By the time I'd left there it was close to $300 and I still didn't have an answer. Just antibiotics and a cream. I went back to work for another hour and decided to try for the sample which I finally got ... took it back and it cost me another $100 for the tests. Nothing is wrong. They just wouldn't listen. I'm furious and still don't have answers.

Oops...boss is coming...back later.

Quick "me" post, you guys. So glad to read all about you all and what's going on. I'm with Barb, I would rather read a "me" post than not have you check in! I visualize us all running by the pool, sitting down for a few, and maybe sipping a "maritas" and then running back to whatever it is that we have to do before the day is over. (Hey, I live in SoCa where it is definitely pool weather. Well, you wouldn't want to go IN the pool, but you would want to sit by it. It was 80 yesterday, and supposed to get up there today too. I've been preparing for a week or two of being focused on dh by trying to get everything ready for tomorrow. Yesterday I had my nails done and this afternoon I get my hair done. TTL for the hair. I'm about a week too late with it, and my ROOTS are showing!! I can't believe it. I've been letting it grow a little and I am OVER that. I'm getting it cut short again today.

Dh will probably go in early tomorrow morning. The surgery is a 5 hour surgery, so I am preparing to have a looooong day. My bff is going to take the day off to be with me. There are two or three women here who will probably drop in.

We are seeing the surgeon late this afternoon so that I can ask my questions after researching for weeks.

I've been chaplaining last week and have been procrastinating this week. I need to get worship leaders for April, and simply HATE to talk on the phone and have people say no. I did ask a couple of people yesterday and they said no. But, I have to get it done today. No time tomorrow, unless I use my cell (NO, don't think that way, Peg. It's must another way to pay your dues in the procrastinator's club!). I'll tell you the woman in charge if chaplains (she is a volunteer here too) is tenacious! I've tried to get out of this gig because of dh, and she is holding me to as much as she possibly can. Sheesh. And, I am having a hard time saying no to her because I said yes to the gig. Sheesh.

Well, gotta go and do some of the stuff I said I would do for others!

Love you all, Peg

flying by...
Peg...prayer's for Bob's quick and safe recovery and for strength for you.
Will it be a simple, straight forward Lumbar laminectomy or will they be doing some fusions, bone grafting, or rods? (((hugs, dear one)))

Judy...hoping things are better with your DD; prayers continue for you and your family as well.

Bert...Again, I'm hoping no news is good news. More prayers headed your way also.

Barb...wOOt!!! By this time tomorrow, you will be *official*! Ahhhh....

Donna...gosh...sorry Sora is ailing, poor baby. Hope she heals very soon!
And, yanno...you could come to OOOOklahoma for a convergence; your DH would be mucho entertained in our indian casinos! Now, there's a thought!

Alida...you are going to do a lead job??? Do you think your hip will do OK?
Please be super careful, sweetie!!!

Susie...glad you popped in! I know how important this week has been to you! Glad you have enjoyed it to the fullest!

Bren...whatcha doin' today? Do I recall you had another interview today...or is it NEXT Thursday? CRS!!!

MK and Heather...a shout out to you both! Hope you all are well!

I spent about 3 hours doing online studies today; probably have another 2hr or so left, then I'll be finished with my required clinical staff inservices. I usually do them over the course of the year, but for some reason, it didn't work out like that this time around. Oh well.

gotta scoot.....
(((hugs all around)))

Peg and Berta -- thoughts and paryers for your DHs. Things are about the same here. DDad's mind is a little clearer today after changing and eliminating some meds. He is probably going to have to decide whether to go to a feeding tube or deal with cronic pneumonia if he continues to eat "real food". We are leaving for Dallas early Saturday morning. I guess it's a good thing next week is spring break.

Yay, Barb, its almost over, but the shouting!!!!

Cute sign, Judy!!!

Latest update on dh... white blood count is almost to normal.. temp has been down for a day or so. Swelling has gone down in his leg enough he can put weight on it and bend his knee. Still swollen and still fluid on knee.. orthopedic was concerned about pulling fluid off knee due to the severe infection.

Shelley... he is on 900 ml of clindamycin every 12 hours for infection and 60 ml of predisone to get rid of rash. I am presuming or assuming which ever that 900 ml of anything is a big, big dosage.

They did a biopsy of rash yesterday.. we'll see what that produces
