| A quick Good Morning! I got up late and I hear Bob moving around upstairs. Today we are going to try to put down some grub killer, fill some holes in the lawn and try growing some grass again. This time we bought some Scott's that has everything -- the seed, fertilizer and starter stuff. Look green when you put it down. The city of Overland Park came by last week and cut some of the limbs on our big oak tree in the front of the house. This tree put out so much shade, the stuff I planted in the front (west exposure) usually had to be shade plants. Not sure now what to plant! Brenda, that's sad about the eggs. Yes, it's nature but I sure hate to see it. Peg, wow. What a great review for Wicked. As for turning down that one post at the OFH ... that was probably a good idea -- especially if you are going to take that interim job! And good news about DH and his feeling better! Judy, I am sure you wanted to write more than "darn" when you lost that post! Wrens are such beautiful little birds. I have seen special Wren nests. A little late now but maybe for next year. We are supposed to have some cold nights ahead. I am putting off planting my flowers until that's over. We went to Lowe's yesterday and I fell in love with a tiered fountain which would look lovely in the front flower bed. Maybe next year. This year is the driveway, A/C and furnace, dishwasher and stove! (Hmm. As I wrote that I really don't see how all of this is to be accomplished. Oh, yeah, we are also putting in three new toilets before the Home Invasion. Barb, must be strange carrying your food up and down the elevator! But then, everyone probably does it and it's no big deal. Bob and I love the George Foreman grill. Not the same flavor, though, of a real grill .... Good luck today! I'll pray for at least no rain. Everyone, have a wonderful Sunday! XXOO

| It seems like forever since six o'clock this morning, which is when we headed off to the Starting Line of the Trolley Run. It was cold (40 degrees)--but not raining, thank goodness. I finished the course in just under 45 minutes, which is about what I hoped. But I sure did lose juice at about 3 miles--the most I've run lately. I knew the course was mostly downhill, so I could "coast" at the finish. We came back to my condo and sat in the hot tub for half an hour. Now we're headed out to Powell Gardens in Lone Jack for an event sponsored by American Field Service, the organization that sponsored me as an exchange student 45 years ago. It should be spectacularly beautiful out there at this time of year. Yesterday I helped my friend do some yard clean-up and plant a few flowers. That's as close to gardening as I'm likely to get, and that suits me just fine. I don't have a patio or balcony at all. I just have a few houseplants, which--bless their hearts--seem to be surviving my care so far. My contributions to energy conservation: cold water washing, remembering to take my reusable bags to the grocery store, recycling all the waste paper I can, and not flushing every single time. (From the California drought one time, I remember the saying, "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down.") Alida, you are facing a number of home updates and renovations. You are brave and generous to take in your family, even for a short time. Well, I'd better go apply a little extra sunscreen to my face. The sun is shining beautifully now, even though it's still a bit cool. Can't have everything. But don't I want it! Happy Sunday. |

| The mama is tired of feeding the baby birds. They jumped out of the nest this morning but the farthest they have gone from the utility room is across the garage and under the lawn mower. It's scary outside the utility room ..... they came back. The problem with that is they are not strong enough to fly back up to the top shelf where the nest is. We have definitely seen three of them. Looks like they will be spending another night in the garage.

| Alida, I'd love to have a fountain, too. Yup, maybe next year. As far as toilets, we put a Toto in the MBR a few years ago, and if one can say they LOVE their toilet, believe me I do. It's very water conservative but can flush anything....really....don't ask....... Also has two flush levels. A normal and a super duper I wish the other baths had Totos. So far the big event of the day has been searching for a weird light bulb for the microwave--the one that acts as a surface light for the range. Oh, and major clean up of the kitchen. you know, the kind where you actually take everything off the counters instead of wiping around? I do have strawberries, though, to make Shelley's recipe Hope your little wrens make it, Judy. At least they'll safer in the garage than out in the big world tonight.

| Brenda, I'm overdue for one of those kitchen counter clean-ups. ![]() Judy, best wishes to the baby wrens. Viewing the official results, I finished the Trolley Run with a pace of about 11 min/mile. Better than I expected. Later, the sun came out (it didn't warm up much though!) and we had a nice excursion to Powell Gardens. I'm ready to crash. I'll watch my Netflix movie (The Illusionist) until the Sandman arrives. Hasta manana! |

| Heather, I'm sorry I didn't get to see your house plans. If you emailed it to me, I didn't get them. Berta, I'm really sorry that your DH is having to go through all of this and you with him. You must have the patience of Job. Many good thoughts and prayers to the both of you. Sistashell, your new ac/heating system sounds wonderful. I would love to have an automatic humidifier, I must fill ours a million times during the winter. I hope you've been busy having a fun weekend, hurry back 'cause we miss ya kiddo! Bren, I feel for you on the duck eggs, something to be concerned about it. Sorry the training for your canine friend didn't fare well. Obviously something terrible has happened to her before your friend rescued her. How wonderful that you're taking time with her. ![]() Cute story about your bird family, Judy. Picture tells it all. ^5 on your run today, Barb. Good for you! Alida, we've been working in our yard this week. I've been cleaning flower beds and pots for planting. DH planted a small veggie garden for us. I finally convinced him that he didn't need to plant one big enough to feed the city. This way it's manageable and won't overwhelm either of us. Peg, I love theater although we don't get to go much anymore due to DH's work schedule. We have a great center in town, lots of good ones come through. Maybe I can catch one or two this summer, DS2 can be my escort. Donna, I used to enjoy Grey's, started watching from the first episode. I've kinda lost interest this year, seems like it's the same thing over and over. What do you think? Mary Kay, hope things are going well for you. I hope that nerve in your foot finally cools down one day soon. Pain from a hot nerve is not good. You're a trooper! Two weeks from today DS1 will have graduated from college with his bachelors in biology. He has accepted a position with Colorado State University as a research assistant. It's a great offer because they will provide his master's plus he will be a paid employee of the university. He will only be home for two days then he has to head out, field work will begin. He'll do research work over the summer and classes will begin in the fall. He and DS2 are making the trek to CO together, then DS2 will fly back home. DS2 will work at his dad's company this summer in the college student intern program. Next summer he will be required to intern with a company that aligns with his degree. His degree is computer information systems. OK, now you know more about my family than you probably would like. I can't remember if I've mentioned about DS1 moving to CO, brain fog will do it every time. Picked up my sis today and she spent the afternoon and evening with me. Kept me company and lent a helping hand when she could with some of my flower pot/bed cleaning/planting. She cooked a nice supper for us. Kept the Oz outside all day, so his little butt is worn out. He's fast asleep on the chair beside me as I type. That's all I have. Hope everybody had a good weekend. See you later girlfriends. |

| Congrats, Barb! Good time, especially considering the weather. Sus, also congrats to DS1. He'll be both working and studying hard at CSU, but I know he's used to that. Seems like yesterday DS2 was 15 and giving us all computer advice here Judy, your kids may have had a few jobs already, but I'd also say their experience with being flexible enough to flow with the economy is a credit on their side.

| HI guys, Bren and sistaSue, thanks for the well wishes for Kassie-kit! She was just pretty darn vocal about missing her brekki this morning. Of course she wasn't pleased with me last night at 8PM when I took away the crunchie and water bowls. I think she suspected something was up at that point! LOL! I dropped her off at the vet clinic a little before 08, and they said I can call and check on her around noon, and she'll be ready to come home by 4:30Pm if all's well. Gone are the days for over night surgical stays...for people and furkins, both! The installers are here doing their *thang* with the heat and air. This morning it was 37 degrees and we had to bump the heat on for a little while. This afternoon we may need the AC; crazy spring weather, for sure! Sorry for the AM(about me) post this morning. I need to get started on a few chores I've let slide the last few days. Then hopefully, I can get in a nice walk after lunch if the wind will stay calm. (((hugs to all))) FYI...I posted some new pics in Kassie's korner this am! I may have mentioned previously that she loves to *snuggle* in my flannel shirt while I read my online newspapers and LCE of a morning as I'm having coffee. It wasn't quiet the same this morning, but you get the idea...(Kass was probably thinking I had forgotten something...like her breakfast!) s
