| Heather, what a lovely house--it looks like a great home to raise a family in Donna, glad to hear from you. Yes I know the feeling. Let us how your eye appointment goes. Barb, it is a treat to get dressed up now, isn't it? Shelley, your bff weekend sounded wonderful! Oh how nice to have a shopping and talking buddy. Thanks for the picture of bff and dk (dear Kassie!). She's already a handful of kitty ![]() Sus, I may have the taxes done (calculated and ready to go), but dh is in charge of e-filing and.........well, you get the idea. Everyone else, waves. Gotta get some stuff done.

| Hi all, Just checking in to see whatzzzzup with everyone! Not to much going on in here it seems; about the same here at home. Just tornado watches all over the place. We had some whopper rains last evening and drizzle today mostly. The sun did peek out about 3PM or so, and boy did it get steamy-muggy-icky! ![]() I meant to tell you all that one evening while bff was here, we were looking at some pics on my computer and we heard *splashing* in the guest bathroom. This went on for a few minutes before it got the best of me, so I went to see if something was leaking, or what. Well, it was *or what*!!! Kassie was standing in the toilet swatting the water with her paw!!! If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes... I scolded her and she turned around and looked at me and didn't even make a move to get out until I grabbed her. By then I had hollered at BFF to grab a towel out of the cabinet. We laughed at Kassie, who was sopping wet on her belly, and all 4's! Finally got her all dried off and I'll be darn if she didn't go straight back to the bathroom. This time the lid was down, and that's the way all of them are going to stay in this house now!(they usually are down but bff forgot and left it up). Also, when DH or I are getting ice from the door dispenser, Kassie runs over to the fridge to wait for a little piece of ice to fall on the kitchen floor. She swats it a few times, sometimes picks it up with her paw, then licks it until it's gone. I think I definitely have a *water cat* on my hands! LOL! ![]() Heather...that's a very nice house! Sure do hope you make this first list. Sending good vibes to ya!!! Bren...above story definitely makes Kass a "handful of kitty"...LOL! I'm just wondering the next time I take a bubble bath if she will end up in there with me! ![]() Barb...did you make it to the museum today? Hope you had a fun day there. CRS, but have you run the hospital hill race yet? Bert and Donna....good to see posts from both of you! Almost travel day, eh, Bert? Best wishes for smooth *sailing* Everyone else...hope you all are well and things are good. ![]() DH is trying to decide which company(ies) he wants to get estimates from for our new heat and air system. He has decided this is the year to get a new furnace and AC. Ours still works, but since we had that little problem with the furnace last fall, it's probably a good thing to go ahead and replace it, not to mention a new one will probably be lots more efficient. Guess I'll go see what the weather update is saying. I don't think we are in the watch area; at least not yet. later, chickadees, (((hugs to all))) s

| MC characteristic, they like water, like to play in the water, but not get into the water, as a general rule. But Kassie seems to be breaking the get into the water rule! LOL!

| Shelley, I can just picture Kassie standing in the toilet giving you "the look." What a hoot! My cat Betty used to like sitting on the edge of the sink--quite a precarious perch--so she could stick her face in the water stream and lick. Sometimes she'd curl up in the sink, but only when it was dry. Heather, that looks like a comfortable home. You've earned it, and someday you'll have it. Is the location selected, and will it be convenient to all the things you do? Donna, how's the eye? I spent some time yesterday morning getting my "official" papers in order. I have to be very systematic now that I'm completely responsible for my own finances. In the mail, I received a check for my IRA rollover--basically all the money I have to live on for the rest of my life. Yikes! I hustled that over to the Trust Company immediately. Now it's up to the investment guy I hired to put it to work for me. I did get to the art museum, and spent quite a while with two photography exhibitions, as well as some new installations since I was there last. My favorite place now is the large atrium with the work of the Japanese sculptor Noguchi. It features a wall-size window to the garden terraces, which gives a beautiful indoor/outdoor effect--very tranquil in the rain. This afternoon is my big farewell Soiree at Hallmark. My younger sister and her husband are on their way from Virginia at this moment, and I'm expecting quite a nice crowd of guests. I'll try not to look too happy about leaving the place behind. ![]() I was awake very early, so I went downstairs and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I won't have another chance to exercise today, and that felt like the right thing to do. I love mornings. Clean slate. Lots of energy. I wish I could bottle that feeling for people who struggle to get out of bed. ![]() Take care of you! |

| Good morning! I finally have a few extra minutes this morning. I really do wish I could get back to my old habit of getting up around 4:30 a.m. There was always time to "play" on the internet. Peg, how goes the patient? Getting better? Is he able to do some small things for himself yet? Judy, d*mn rain. I'll bet you are extremely tired of it. I am hoping we don't get a Spring Ice Storm. Every few years one seems to hit KC. I think it was last year when we had an extended Spring freeze. That retarded all the early plant/flower/tree growth. Brenda, did I read correctly? More snow? (Eleven more days to file your taxes ....) Shelley ... IN the toilet? That must have been a hoot! Oh, you need to leave a lid up and try to get a picture. My Muffin also likes to play with ice. If she's not sound asleep (which is most of the time), she will run to the refrigerator when she hears the ice drop into a glass. Your weekend with your bff sounded wonderful! Barb, so today's the big party! Enjoy it! Heather, oh, the house looks so nice! Many, many prayers are sent your way in hopes that it happens soon. Berta, are you home yet? I am hoping the flight goes smoothly for you. Donna! I am so glad everything is OK ... except for all the usual stuff. Good luck with your eye appointment today. Prayers sent to you, too. Susie, I think I may have missed a post or two. Ozzie has arthritis and is now on meds? Have you noticed a difference yet? Mary Kay, I have been off the board so long, I can't remember your last post! I do remember you mentioned your toe was getting better ... just not fast enough! Son Mark called last night. They are going forward with their major remodel this June. He wants to know if they can move in here with us for a month or two. This question popped up several years ago, but they delayed the remodel. So, I will have 4 more people in my house. I am not sure about their dog. I don;t think I can handle a dog on top of everything else. Especially since I would have to lock up Muffin somewhere. That just doesn't seem fair to her ... especially since she will be petrified with all those extra people here anyway. Lots of storing of clothes, odd furniture and organizing ahead. Any ideas on how to build a curtain wall that will span about 15 feet? Sarah will have her bed in half my office. Last, but not least, Bob says we should complete our toilet-replacement plans before they come. We have three more to replace. Always something! Upside: they will pay us rent and Mark will do most of the cooking! XXOO

| Hi guys, About to go run some errands, but thought I'd stick my head in the door and say hey and TGIF!! Barb...you got it!!!...I did get "the look" from Kass in the toilet! Have fun at your soiree this afternoon! Terrific that your sissy and her DH will be there! I know a fun time will be had by all!! ![]() Alida...sistaSue said the same thing...leave the lid up and get a pic if Kass goes wading again! I don't think I can bring myself to do that...very messy...ewww!!! I'll try and get a pic if she plays in the sink again. She likes to swat the bubbles that are left over from a handwashing! Funny Muffin likes ice also! Cats are just soooo...cat-like, yanno? LOL! Quote:
![]() To everyone else...happy Friday...hope it's smooth sailing right on into the weekend! ![]() OK...gotta jet..... zoom zoom.......... (((hugs to all))) s

| Good morning! Well...it was until I got to work. The farmer in the field right next to my office is spraying his fields with a mixture of chicken and pig poop....EEEEEWWWWW....you wouldn't believe the stink!! No windows open for me today. The eye appointment went very well. No retinal tear! Whew! I did have to wear sunglasses all day cause it was just too damned bright after having my eye frozen. It was worth it though to find out my eye will be okay. I still have the very large floater but if I'm lucky it will move over to the side and I won't even notice it...could take a few months. I was all excited about going to Michael's yesterday. They have a sale on the cartridges that I need for my Cricut machine...$49.99 compared to $117.00. Turned out the sale doesn't start until tomorrow. I asked if they could make an exception seeing as I'm from out of town...NO. So, I'll have to drive all the way back to town tomorrow...might take dd with me. In fact, I think I'll phone there today and ask if they could put one away for me. I don't want to drive all the way there to find they are all gone. Dd has been having a terrible time with the tooth she had pulled. The socket got infected and now the infection has travelled to her sinus and ears. She's on several medications. She had to take a day off work because of the pain. Yesterday she went in to see her boss, and found out she's been fired! When she asked why, she was told there was no reason that it was just best to end the working relationship. She's really upset...and so am I. I'm just hoping this isn't going to turn her in the wrong direction now. I just found out this when she called me this morning and of course now my stomach is upset and I've been running to the bathroom. It never ends does it? Shelley: Wish I could have seen Kassie standing in the toilet. I'd be kind of worried that she might slip and go in head first. Good thing the lid is kept down. Oop, gotta go...back later.

| Sorry...where was I? I did call Michael's...they will hold a cartridge for me. Yippee! Alida: You sure are going to have a housefull! Some getting used to for sure. The rent will be helpful! Barb: Have a good time at your party today. How nice that your sister will be there. It always amazes me when you guys say someone is coming from another state...to me it seems like it should be sooooo far away. Then I remember while on holidays we can drive through two states in a day sometimes. Let us know how your day goes! Susie: Poor little Ozzie. Darn..I hate it when a critter isn't up to snuff. Hope he's feeling better really soon. Heather: Any news about the house yet? We have quite a few habitat homes that were built in town. One of them has been let to run down already...so sad when there are a lot of other people who would have loved to have had it and take care of it. Brenda: Any more news on the job front? Judy: Did you get the sewing project finished. Berta: I think it's tomorrow you fly home? (some of Alida's CRS has rubbed off on me) Hope all goes well for you. Dh will probably feel better just being home. Okay...I'm off to work again. Have a good weekend everyone.

| Still haven't heard on the Habitat for Humanity house yet. The lady who will call us said it could be April 15th. That's only 11 days, hope I can hold out! / Nothing to exciting. Everyone is home this evening and either watching cartoons, taking a nap (DH) or walking on the treadmill (of course me lol). Snow is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. - Shelley - I heard on the radio news that tornadoes have been horrible the last few days. So scary! I pray for your safety and for your house to stay undamaged. In Oklahoma it said that planes were being whipped around at the airport. Yikes! - Susie - I love thunderstorms. Hope it is a nice safe one for you. - Barb - The location is selected in a very nice safe neighborhood. We drove straight to the area of where the house is to be built once we found out. DH said that if it's not a safe place we'll not sign. Whew! / I too am a morning person. - Alida - Would you be able to buy a nice cat tower for Muffin to hide in? Hope you find a nice place for muffin. - Donna - We have quite a few habitat houses in Great Falls and so far we've only seen one run down. I was telling DH that they will not be sorry if they select us. Crossing our fingers we'll hear soon. / Hope you and dd feel better soon. |

| Been reading along and following your posts. Ran a few errands today and took my sis with me. Had dinner at her place tonight, very nice. Donna, sorry about your DD's job situation. (((((hugs to both of you)))). Heather, I really hope you guys get your house. Barb, how was your reception? Shell, welcome aboard the Nothing After & Challenge! to my other gal pals!Thank you everyone for your concern about little Ozzie. He is still hurting and sore, yelps out quit a lot. I know it will take time for the supplement to kick. Did anyone watch Oprah today? The episode was about puppy mills. I cannot write openly what I really think should happen, but then I don't have to because I think each of you feel the same way. I've never really said this, but we've always thought Ozzie came from a puppy mill. Not as a pet store purchase, but used by a breeder. You cannot even imagine the condition he was in when we rescued him. Another thing was the fear based aggression that we worked through for over three years. Brenda, I want to thank you again for all the emails you exchanged with me during that time. You assured us that we were right to not give up hope. Bless you. Now...back to our regularly scheduled chatter. Have a good weekend girlies! |

| Good morning! Susie, and not just puppy mills, but kitten mills, too. Buddy, RIP, was from a "breeder" who was closing up her cattery. I adopted him when he was 5 years old. For about the first 6 months, he lived in the basement and I hardly saw him. I had him for nine years. In all that time, I never picked him up. The last few years I could brush him and pet him. But he was never on my lap. I found out he was never socialized and lived his first five years in a cage as a stud. I am also sure he was kicked by a man. He would get petrified when Bob walked by him. I loved that cat and I miss him. Donna, I am so sorry to hear you daughter got fired. Don't employers have to give a reason? What a bummer and that is putting it mildly. (((HUGS))). I hope she will find another job soon. How is the employment situation there? Sinus/ear infections are so painful. I do hope she gets relief soon with the meds. Always something, huh? Shelley, I reiterate ... leave the lid up and get a picture! It will be priceless. Better yet, prepare for it. Put towels down and put Kassie in front of the bowl and snap away. Of course, being a cat, she will look at you with a funny look and just walk away. Ah it's Saturday! Before Bob goes to work, we will call Mark and tell him OK. I know what will happen. After the first week or two, I will get used to a circus in the house and then will miss them all when they leave! Have a wonderful weekend! XXOO

| Alida, I see that you are still here. Hope the day goes well for you. The weather is certainly glorious today, and things will be in full bloom. You are brave to take on a family of four, even for a short term. But then, your house will seem enormous when they leave. ![]() Donna, your DD continues to attract bad luck, and I'm so sorry. I would be terribly discouraged and puzzled to be fired "for no reason." Naturally, that leaves you wondering what the reason really is. Again, this is one more thing out of your control. Your love is her best hope. My party yesterday was beautiful. I'll try to post a picture of the gigantic floral centerpiece, which I've put in the lobby of my condo for everyone to enjoy. Also, while I'm at it, a photo of the shoji screen. You can see Veronica curled up on my chair. She lets me sit on a little edge of the chair when I'm doing e-mail. I have a mountain of cards to open and read. But before that, fun with my family all weekend. My picture is in the KC Star today as a participant in the book review group. My comments they published sound reasonably intelligent. to everybody. Catch ya later! |

| Morning gang!! It's snowing pretty good outside. Working on some chores this morning before M comes over. Her Grandparents need me to watch her so they can paint. It's hard to do things like that with a 3 year old who wants to help I'm sure - lol. We get to take her to her dance class!! I'm so excited to watch her. Then it's back home for nap and the she'll hopefully be back Tuesday since Grandma is off Monday. Busy day! Have a good Saturday everyone! Just wanted to add real quick that I thought it was so neat that you did a book review. Couldn't have picked someone better! Love your home!! |
