Alida, that is an amazing story about your little Buddy! What wonderful furmommie you were to him. I applaud you and your DH for giving him and wonderful home and loving him. Yes, you don't hear about the kitten mills as much.

Barb, sounds like your party was truly wonderful. Nice photos! Veronica looks very much at home in that chair. Ozzie loves to sleep in chairs. I've told Shell before that I think he is part cat.

Heather, sounds like spring is not even in the picture for you.

We're having great results with the Nothing After 7 Challenge. There's an open invitation to those who would like to join.

Have a great weekend ladies.

Flyby before I head to book club (non recorded, thank goodness). Our book club extra tonight is learning Jamaican club dancing as aerobics

Sus, thanks for the kind word, but you are the one that put all the love and work into making Ozzie the little character he is today. I couldn't watch the Oprah show; I know I'd never get the images out of my head.

Barb, sounds like a lovely farewell....and lots of cards to open... Of Course!

Shelley, thinking of you with all the weather in your area.

Everyone else, sorry to kiss and run.

Oh, and now that I see the NA7C is flexible depending of schedule, hmmmmm. It'd do me a lot of good to set some kind of limits on myself So maybe I'll join Susie, Heather, and Shelley. Let you know tomorrow.

Ok, going to shake my whatever now!

Just call me Imelda! I bought 5 pairs of sandals today and bought a purse earlier in the week. There is a melted credit card in my purse.

LOL...Judy! For years and years, DH has said that Imelda must be my Aunt and I took shoe shopping lessons from her as a youngster! hehe!
WTG on the 5 pair score!!! And hey...melted credit cards still work as long as the magnetic strip is intact.

My question is...do you have to *hide* a couple pairs until a later date(learned that little trick from my mom), or are you an all out in the open gal and showed ALL your purchases to your DH??? LOL!!
At any rate...congrats on the BIG SCORE!!!

Nah........ I showed them to him. Actually, I came home with only 4 pairs and was lamenting the fact that I had not bought the brown "Born" sandals that I found at Ross for $35. He asked me if I would wear them, to which I replied "of course". So, he sent me back to get them. In all I got a pair of Speedo flip flops, a pair of brown Borns, a flat pair of black Dockers, another brown pair and some black dress sandal/shoes. All but the flip flops are suitable for school. I haven't bought any "real" sandals in a couple of years. Sometime you've got to shop, and today was the day.

Hi guys. Not a darned thing on tv and dh is out of town. Just figures.

I went to town today and managed to get 2 cricut cartridges. Now I can't wait to play with them. Also came home with 3 new books, a pair of shoes and lots of other scrapbooking stuff. Before I left town I went to KFC and bought a bucket of chicken for ds and his family. I know he's the cook and bottlewasher right now so I thought this might make it a little easier for him.

Dd was supposed to come to town with me. I got my haircut this morning and we were going to leave at 10:30. As I was walking in the door after the haircut the phone was ringing. She said she had forgotten about going to town and was at a friends house. Fine..I said I would go alone. We've had plans for a week now to go out for dinner seeing as she missed her birthday dinner. So, we planned to meet at my house at 5:30 and go for dinner. When I got back from town there was a message on the machine that something had come up and she wouldn't be able to make it. Doesn't sound good. She's back to making all kinds of excuses to not be near me. Just like when she was drinking. Now she says she'll see me tomorrow. We'll see.

Alida: There isn't a lot of jobs in this area. Dd doesn't drive so she's really limited to where she can work. There is no bus service or taxi cabs where we live either. That's why this job was so good for her cause she could walk. I think there is more to the story than she's saying...it's illegal to fire someone without a reason.

Judy: Good score on the sandals. That's what I was looking for in town but couldn't find anything I like. I really wanted a pair of white leather flip flops but I like a little heel on them and there was nothing like that. Guess I'll have to settle for the ones that are flat.

Barb: What a beautiful flower arrangement. And a nice gesture from you to share it with your neighbours.

Susie: I did see the Oprah show and it just about broke my heart. I had to look away at certain parts. I can't believe how some people treat their pets. Makes me sick!

Well guys I think it's time to go and soak my weary body in the tub. A nice bubblebath sounds so good now.

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK...K-U! Where's a Jayhawk smiley when you need one?? Family members are rejoicing today. I have no stake in the matter, so I root for the home team. (P. S. This is the NCAA FInal Four basketball championship, for those of you in outer space.)

Donna, I dearly hope your suspicions have NOT played out. Your dd is on a tough road, and you with her.

I had a fun play day yesterday with my sister and her dh and my friend. We shopped and brunched on the Plaza. Then we visited an architectural salvage company--like a huge attic--that my b-in-law was interested in. And while we were in the Crossroads district of KC, we stopped in some art galleries, and viewed the new "Power and Light" entertainment center near the new arena. Then we cooked steaks on the grill, and laughed until late. Have to say good-bye today, but we made the most of their visit.

All the retirement fuss is over now. But spring and summer are looking good for travels and new goals.

Judy, maybe I owe myself some power shoe-shopping!

I'll stop by later. Everybody have a relaxed Sunday if you can.

Good morning!

Barb, what a beautiful arrangement! And how nice of you to share it with your neighbors. Lots of Hallmark cards? LOL! I did see your picture in the paper yesterday. I read the article and laughed when you talked about liking the story's construction but not the story. So we all should not run out and buy the book, huh?

Isn't the Power and Light District amazing? I saw some of it when I went to the Sprint Center (looks like a flying saucer landed smack dab in the middle of the district) for that Disney Ice Show.

Oh ... KU won? How fabulous! Now everyone can like Roy again.

Donna, I agree with Barb. Her excuses not to meet with you do sound familiar. But, maybe not. Maybe she really did just go out with friends. Fingers crossed you meet up today. Maybe you can find out more about the job and why she was fired. (((HUGS)))

Judy, good score!

Shelley, yup. I hide stuff. I do not shop like I used to, so there's nothing to hide lately! But Summer is coming and I could use a few new tops and some shoes .....

Susie, there is more to that Buddy story. After having him a few months, Bob said to call the breeder and have her take Buddy back (as she offered to do). When I called, she told me to put Buddy to sleep and she would pay the bill!!!!!!! What a frigging jerk -- and that is putting it nicely in printable language.

Brenda, Jamaican club dancing as aerobics? Well, they always say dancing is good exercise!

Heather, I promise ... Spring will come.

Yesterday I just puttered around the house and did some rearranging of decorative accessories. I am trying out the "less is more" idea. And I was looking at all my live plants and wondering if they were just a tad too much. Then in this morning's Home Section was a big article on how house plants are making a big "comeback." Gee. I didn't know they left. Some of my plants are about 25 years old. When we had our big house, I had a professional come in and sell me various plants for different parts of the house. One "corn" plant is about 12 feet high. Good thing I have vaulted ceilings now. Have a good Sunday! XXOO

Hi guys,
Just ducking in for a sec...on my way out the door to walk.

Judy...I love Born shoes! They are sooooo comfy!!! I will never stick my feet in another pair of pointed-toe monstrosities again!
I don't *hide* purchases either, but my Mother did from time to time. I don't think Daddy really cared, but somehow she thought she was pulling one over on him! LOL! When he would ask "are those new shoes?" she would reply, "No, I've had them a long time." She just wouldn't add...*under the bed in hidding* for 3 weeks! hehe!

Barb...sounds like you had a delightful day with your clan! And, yes!...go shoe shopping!!! It's good for what ails ya!! And of course if you want to make yourself feel really good...add a handbag, a little bit of bling, and you're all set to razzle-dazzle!

Donna...sorry your DD *stood you up*. Here's hoping she has not gone back to old habits. Yay for you on your score on your cricut cartridges!!!
You are gonna have to take a pic of a page or 2 or your scrapbooks so we can take a look see!!!

Alida...I have one plant left; it's an ivy plant that has survived despite my negligence. I started it as a clipping from an ivy plant my brother sent me when my mom passed away. So, it's a little sentimental, but has come dangerously close to passing also. sigh. I truly forget about watering it...my bad! Now, in addition to my wrecklessness, the poor plant has to dodge Kassie's affections for it!! har! The cat book says ivy is poisonous for cats, so I've moved it to my sewing room, where the door is kept closed, and Kassie is not allowed admittance!! Still she beams right in on it on the rare occasion she manages to sneak into the room.

Bren...tell us about the book club "aerobics"! Sounds fun!
And do come join us in the NEA7 challenge! I've made it 2 nights in a row! Really BIG-deal for me!!! That EEK (evil evening knoshmonster) was making himself pretty comfortable at my house!!! I'm kicking him out...one night at a time!
Actually...everyone come join in...Susie started the challenge/thread, and she's the record keeper. The more, the merrier!!!

So...after 2 nights of no eats after 7P, I'm down 3 lbs. It's been lost previously...story of my life...but at least I'm heading in the right direction. Just 4 more pounds, and I'll be into *new territory* again! PTL!!!

OK...speaking of burning calories and getting the *reareth in geareth*...I'm outta here!

(((hugs all around)))

zoom-zoom!

Plants.......... Oh yeah, I've got some oldies, too. My theory for years has been to put them outside as soon as the weather is suitable and bring them in just before it freezes. It seems to work. Among the plants that I have are ivy plants that were in my mom's classroom when she retired 23 years ago, a ficus tree that DMIL gave us for Christmas about 25 years ago and sympathy plants from when my mom died 15 years ago. Right now they desperately need to be watered, but I hate to do it right before they are moved. We are waiting to take them out until the roof gets cleaned off -- which was supposed to be yesterday. If we move them before, all the roof trash ends up on them. I can't see having to make that clean up job any harder that it already is. As for watering the plants... mine survive on near neglect. Overwatering is never a concern!

Busy day for me today. Lily managed to wake me from a very sound sleep at 7:30 this morning needing to go outside. No point in going back to bed after that. I got lots accomplished today...fixed 2 pair of dh's pants, washed my car, watered all the grass, cleaned the house, walked the dog, did 3 pages of scrapbooking...whew I'm tired just thinking about it.

Dh got home this afternoon and he stopped at Michael's on his way home and brought me 2 more Cricut cartridges. WOW...4 in one weekend...I don't want to go to work tomorrow, I want to play!!

Well...I hate to write this but....dd is back on the bottle. Everything she told me this weekend was a lie. I won't go into details but she could end up being thrown out of her apartment seeing as she was told she could not drink if she was given the chance to live there. No job...no home....what's next! I'm just sick about it...but I didn't cause it, can't cure it, and can't control it!

A quick walk around the yard today and lots of things are popping up. Hostas are popping up...really early this year. I did a little weeding...why are the weeds always the first to show their faces?

My sprinkler has bitten the dust over the winter too. Those darned oscillating sprinklers only make it one year before they have to be replaced, but when you have a big yard it's the only way to go. Guess I'll have to make a trip to the hardware store to replace it.

Barb: So glad you had a good visit with your family. Any ideas where you will be travelling to?

Alida: I don't have a lot of houseplants. When I lived in town I had a lot but lost them in the move. I'm working on growing a spider plant now to replace a huge one that I had.

Judy: I put my houseplants outside for the summer too...but under cover. Our heat would burn the heck out of them.

Peg: Hope you're feeling better soon.

Think I'm going to go and "play" for a bit with my new toys. Talk to you all later.

Donna, I am so sorry to hear that your daughter has backtracked. She was doing so well. Hugs for you! Maybe she will quickly come to her senses. Is there any possibility that she might learn to drive so that she can get a better job? Is there a family member in another town that might let her live with them until she can get her feet back on the ground with a new job? I am so sorry that you are living that nightmare again.
