| Thinking of you Donna. You are such a great mama I want you to know. It must be a wonderful feeling for your dd to know that you care so much, are always thinking of her and want the best for her. I just feel this love and emotion when you talk of her. Take care. |

| Good morning, everybody. The Royals won their home opener over the Yankees, and everybody froze their b*tts. I'm looking forward to a couple of home games this year, but I'll wait until it's hot enough for beer. Brenda and Susie, fly-bys are fine. We just get nervous when somebody goes silent. Donna, I agree with Heather. You are a loving and caring mom. Considering your description of your extended family (and things I know about my own), I believe there's a strong hereditary (genetic) component to addictive behaviors that's tough to fight. As painful as it is for you to stand by, there's no cause for you to feel "responsible." Peg, how are you feeling today? Mystery pains are...well, a pain. My wake/sleep cycle is variable these days. I'm often in bed by 9:00, even knowing that I can sleep in. My body doesn't know "sleep in" and neither does my cat. Judy, do you have a residual headache from the school board meeting?? I can only imagine the grandstanding that goes on. Our school board is dysfunctional in the X-treme, but I suppose you could say that about most of them. All amateurs with an agenda and a chip on their shoulders. I've finished Founding Brothers--an excellent account of the political events and personalities following the American Revolution. I'm about halfway through Barak Obama's book, which coordinates well with the other. My American history is very fuzzy, and it's good to realize that our government has ALWAYS been complicated, messy, cantankerous, and (miraculously) resilient. Judy, I wish I had your knowledge of economics. Off to get more coffee, do some devotional reading, and wait for the newspaper delivery. See you later! |

| Morning gang! Need to step off here, drop off Jay at school and then off to Biolife to donate plasma. I saw a pair of black dress shoes yesterday at Target that I'm going to get with by donation money. Stopped there for a bit to help my sister shop for dress clothes for her new job. She only had jeans and t-shirts. She looks so pretty in her new clothes!! My sister is curvy and has one of those Jennifer Lopez behinds that has men turning their heads. lol She of course hates it. Anyway, she bought the same pair of shoes so I hope she won't mind. If we wore the same size I would just borrow them. Here they are, what do you think? I have quite a few black shoes but I love them! lol ![]() - Brenda - Have a sunny day despite the weather!- Barb - Coffee, devions and the newspaper. Sounds like a lovely morning. |

| Good morning ladies. The weatherman tells me it snowed last night but all I see is wet ground. I think we must have gotten rain which is good...the birds are singing like crazy this morning and it's really warm already. I love it when I can have my office window open (so do the furkids). And the best part of all is that with the moisture last night....the stink from the farm is gone....YIPPEE> Heather: Thank you so much for the wonderful words. Sometimes I think I did too much for my kids...but that's just me and it's the way I'm made. Now it's time for them to be themselves. I didn't hear from dd last night so I'll just take it to mean she's okay. Barb: You couldn't be more right. My own addiction is food. Many times when I've been reaching for something that I don't need or really want I wonder if that's what it's like for dd when she reaches for alcohol. Probably. Anything that will help us to feel better at the time...or so we think. Susie: What a relief to have the taxes done. You guys get so many more deductions than we do so I can imagine the paperwork involved. Ours is pretty straightforward. Yesterday dh's lottery winnings arrived in the mail. I knew he was looking for them...he never goes for the mail. I was pretty sure he was going to just use the money for our business so I was surprised last night when he handed me 5 one hundred dollar bills. Actually, shocked is more like it. Of course, I asked him what it was for thinking I had forgotten to pay something. He told me it was "just for me". HA...I'm not stupid...that money disappeared into my purse so fast he didn't even see me leave the room! Now...what can I spend it on? Looks like I won't be going to dh's first ballgame of the season. Unless I change my mind. His game is next Tuesday and that will be the final episode of Biggest Loser. I've been watching it since the first episode and really want to see the ending. I have no idea how to program the VCR so can't tape it. Heather: Are you with me in wanting Ali to win? Today dd has a job interview. I'm torn in wanting her to get the job....and worrying that she will get the job and drink on the job. Maybe it will be good for her. She's still denying that she drank...but has no idea how much she has left in the bank cause she just kept using her bank card all weekend. She's not thinking....her bank statement comes in my mailbox...I'll know everywhere she used that card and where she was drinking. No more lies!! Okay...I'm off to enjoy my day. Weatherman is saying by Saturday the temps will be around 23C (Judy...78F)

| Fly by for me this morning. I've put off paperwork I need to do for one of the committees I am on....so today is the day if I have to chain myself to the computer! Did I tell you that I am going to be in a spelling bee on Sunday afternoon? Dh is getting better every day. I am trying not to worry, but better said than practiced. We went to the Dr. yesterday and he said that dh is doing wonderfully. He really is. Well, back to the grind. By the way, the emoticons are from a program that I downloaded on IE. My Firefox just isn't working as it should and I think I am going to have to go back to IE. Also, Judy.................dear....................could you ask your computer guru if he knows why my Microsoft Outlook 07 would stop allowing me to open hyperlinks? It gives me a message that says that I have to check with my administrator! I AM the administrator. I've done different fixes through through the Microsoft website, including tweak the registry, but so far no luck. See yall soon. |

| Hi gang! Heather, GORGEOUS shoes! You'll look stunning. Peg, glad to hear from you. Spelling bee? You are BRAVE. My spelling is getting worse every year. Wonderful that dh's recovery is coming along nicely. Donna, I think Barb's right. I'll bet most addictive processes feel similar in many ways. What I know for sure is that the same parts of the brain are involved. Big woohoo on getting some $$$$$ from the lottery winnings. Dad bought me two bird feeders and a pole set up for the back yard in lieu of the tree he'd promised me last year. We both like watching birds Wild Birds Unlimited: Advanced Pole SystemŽ the foundation for successfully attracting birds to your backyard DH, however, is having a conniption because he doesn't think the pole is sturdy enough. Sheesh! I guess we'll find out, eh? Everyone else, big waves!

| Wow Brenda...that's a great looking birdfeeder. Get dh to set it in some cement and it should stand up to any wind. It's not like your going to get swans or penguins coming to eat. lol

Love the new smilies! A nice evening in the nursary with my little ones at church. It's such a fun place to be and I get to listen to the sermon through a speaker unless someone starts crying of course. DH loved my new shoes and a new top I bought. He doesn't think I've ever owned actual heals. I've always had the wide bottom heals but not these skinny ones. Something I'll have to get used to. Fun playing dress up. Another perk of going to church. ![]() - Brenda - Thank you!! / I love watching birds, it's just so peaceful watching those little guys. - |

| DH is talking to his mom's DH. He hasn't seen his mom since he was 17 after her and my FIL divorced. She is in the hospital on life support with cirrhosis of the liver, fluid in her lungs and an irregular heart beat. I'll let you know if I find out anything else but please pray that if she passes it won't be to rough on her boys and that she will go without pain. |

| Heard that my MIL has on her WILL that she doesn't want life support. If the doctor can't figure out a way that will help her in two days they said they will be taking her off of it. She has been sick for awhile and her DH said that a few weeks ago she said she gave up then she got really sick. |

| Thank you Brenda. DH seems fine and insisted that I take the kids to church last night. Felt weird going but I gave the information over for the after service prayer group since I was in the nursery. DH says that this has been expected since she started drinking before he was born. Her parents both died young when they over drank. My DH refuses to touch alcohol at all and doesn't like it in the house. I used to have an occasional drink right after I turned 21 but it made him feel uncomfortable. It was an easy compromise for me especially since alcoholism runs in my family as well. Maybe the kids will not see it as a common thing you drink and stay away from it as well. We gave the boys a talk now as young as they are on how alcoholism runs in our family and will every few years until they leave I'm sure. Alcohol, drugs, gambling, cigarettes....all problems we have or had in this family. We'll be talking lot it seems! |
