Ah yes--fun with Furkids. Thanks for the smilies, Shelley.

I'm up early this morning, since I'm participating in the Presbytery meeting today. In the Presbyterian organization, Presbytery is the "church" to which clergy belong. Bi-monthly meetings, which include clergy and elders, conduct business that applies to the collective churches in this Presbytery.

We still don't have warm weather, so I might as well huddle with the Presbys instead of doing something fun outdoors.

I'll be back later!

Going to be a sunny day in the 60's!! I'm so happy! We haven't had a nice day like this for many months now. It was a long winter. Tomorrow the 70's! Started my day of right with the gym...weight training and elliptical/stepper machine. Hoping to get some bike riding in today as well but first I must hit the Salvation Army $5 bag sale which you know I love. I may talk DH into a short walk to the grocery store later to get some milk for the boys. My milk is vanilla soymilk..yummy! I would have a smoothie everyday using it if I could.
-
Susie - I'm so glad to hear that your Ozzie is getting better.
-
Donna - I have a family member who's parents are taking control of his finances as well. They sort out his bills and pay them with his money too. It seems to be helping him although he has had some slips with his drinking. His parents are good and caring just like you.
-
Shelley - Man am I tickled with the new smilies!!

Morning kids! Cold and rainy here, but aren't there always an abundance of inside projects to tackle? Heather, enjoy your weather.

Judy, I see you online--hope you're coming up for air after the week.

Peg, good to see you yesterday (was it yesterday, I'm lost!)

I'm going to an international quilt show with a book club friend tomorrow. Not that I quilt (I don't) or that I want to (I don't) but it'll be a nice day out getting to know someone. Besides, who can resist all the colors

Belated good morning! I see it's 12:12. OK. Good afternoon!

Shelley: I'll have to tell Muffin she has her own smilie. She will probably just look at me with that "Why are you bothering me?" look ......

Are you scouring the net looking for these? Or is there a program and you are in charge of picking various ones for the site???

Barb, will you be seeing Mark today at the Presby meeting? Say hello!

Brenda, so you don't want to add quilting to your hobby list, huh? There was a funny article in the paper this morning about hobbies and how some of us are hobby-challenged. I mean, I really don't have a hobby. I read ... or use my home design software ... or just sit on the sofa! The columnist was mentioning one relative who sews and makes her own tote bags, pillow, clothes, etc. and then, in her spare time gardens so well her home is always on the KC Garden Tour. Sheesh. I feel like a freaking slouch. Oh, I also thinks she works .....

Peg, still the Queen of Procrastination, huh? You have heard that the time it takes to do a task is directly proportional to the time you have available to do it. So, since you are starting today, it will only take you one day. If you started at the beginning of the week, it would have taken you a week. Sounds like effective time management to me!

Donna, $800 gone? Poof! What on earth did she spend it on? Prayers for that young single mom with breast cancer. I, too, hope it has been caught early. Have fun in town!

Still watching Survivor? I am so glad Eliza was voted off. My favorite is Ozzie. Bob says he heard (read) that Ozzie and Amanda are a couple. Did you hear that? He says he is going to ask her to marry him. Shades of Rob & what's-her-name.

Susie, oh, that is so nice to hear that Ozzie is feeling better! Just like people with arthritis, it takes a little time for the meds to work.

Berta, how is DH? Are you home? Was the trip OK? Oh, I hope you were not caught up in that airline cancellation mess!

Heather, sounds like water weight to me. As Barb says, it's all about how the pants fit. Any more news about the house

Judy, are you able to have a nice, relaxing weekend?

For some reason I have a lot of energy today (so far). I have ironed, cleaned some parts of the office and then went up to a closet and straightened out a cubby in there that is stacked with suitcases. I have an old white leather Oshkosh suitcase that was my Mom's. Probably dates to the early 50's. I will never use it but I just can't bring myself to throw it out. I am starting to think ahead to the home invasion of 2 more adults with 2 kids this summer.

Have a great Saturday! XXOO

Good morning. Barb, I think Lily is taking lessons from Vernonica...she woke me at 7:15 on my day off! Definitely wasn't appreciated.

Shelley Lily and Sora say thank you. They love to be the centre of attention.

Alida: I have no idea what dd spent the money on. She told me she did a big grocery shopping and then yesterday was whining she had no meat or milk and the cats needed food. I'm past caring what she did with it now.

The job she was supposed to start next week now is gone. She went into the store yesterday to see if a schedule had been made up and was told they had decided not to hire her. Their reasoning is they were going to do the work themselves to save money. I think they caught wind of dd's problem and decided they didn't need the hassle. She's just devasted...I told her she brought it on herself and it's her own problem. Best thing is for her to get to every AA meeting she can find...she slipped and now get over it, hold her head up high and start looking for work again. I'm not babying her this time!

Barb: Enjoy your meeting. If I could send you some of our sunshine I would. It's a gorgeous day today and supposed to go into the 70's. Better remember to get myself a new sprinkler when we are in town.

It went well at the Legion last night with 7 people having their heads shaved. The young mother with cancer shaved her head in preparation for her chemo treatments and donated her hair to have a wig made for someone. What a wonderful thing to do. She's a tough one..guess she'll have to be with the road ahead for her.
All in all, our little branch raised almost $6000 for the cancer society.

Better not stay long...I have 45 minutes to walk the dog and head to the store to meet dh so we can head off to town. Have a great weekend...maybe I'll find something I can spend my $500 on?

Oh yes!! I think I forgot to post our Habitat for Humanity News. We did get the loan paperwork turned in last Monday. Friday the loan company had asked Habitat if their were any changes done on the credit reports we were working on. Habitat decided just to run another report to see if we had disputes by a couple of things that shouldn't be there and it was better then that. They were already off the report except one but it had zero balance by it - we owe NO ONE money! Not a credit card, computer payment, car payment...nothing. Habitat lady was thrilled and ran the updated copy to us last night. She said that it looks good, she'll call everyone next week with definite answers. The appointment to see floor plans changed from the 17th to 22nd which is actually a better day for us. Thursday's DH works evenings but Tuesday not. Looking great!! In a few months we'll check the report again and make sure it is a blank sheet on our credit report except the positives.

Sunday blessings to all. We were expecting a freeze last night, and more cold weather today. Yesterday, people were mowing their lawns with snow flurries coming down. If this is an effect of global warming, I'm convinced. Now...warm up already!!

Alida, I did my part at the Presby morning worship, and then skedaddled home. I'm sorry I didn't think to look for your son. Next time I will.

Y'know, I don't think of myself as a "hobby" person. I have no useful craft skills, and I don't like sewing. I've tried knitting and needlepoint--no patience. I used to watch too much television. Now I watch none. When I get myself to sit down, I like to read, and I've enjoyed lots more of that. I tried doll collecting, but I don't have room for more stuff, and I don't play with the dolls as much as I used to. I've always thought of weight management as a kind of hobby, because it requires research, community involvement (that would be you guys!) and other time commitments. Maybe health is my hobby. I'll claim that!

Speaking of crafts, I'm going to the KC Rep theatre today to see Gee's Bend, a new play about the Alabama quilters whose work has been hailed as art and added to many museum collections.

There's also a birthday party for my little great-nephew, who's turning four (I think). Apparently, he's into pirates. That's pretty easy with Johnny Depp still carrying on in the "Caribbean."

All of you are so involved with "real life." I'm still waiting for "real life" to start up again. I've been quite busy with whatever has been happening though.

Enjoy the day. Take care of you.

Balance Re: APRIL Tracking

Alida, no slouch are you, my girl. And Barb, hobbies are optional. Sometimes the days are full enough. I didn't have hobbies when I was working full time--too exhausted!! Even now knitting/reading time may be only the couple of hours before bed, while dh watches or after he's asleep. Making jewelry? Who has time

Heather, It's happening!! Aren't you "over the moon" as the British say?

Everyone, waves It's a good day to be inside a convention center, rather than outside one

See you all later

Good morning!

Donna, LOL. DD claims $800 on food and then has none. Kids. And you are having the weather we are all waiting for! It always amazes me about weather patterns -- with you being in a far north "desert!"

Barb, I am hoping this current freeze will be over by tomorrow and it won't do the damage it did last year. I just checked. 49 today with 29 tonight then back up to 50's on Monday. Maybe all the new buds will make it through the night.

Speaking of healthy low carb living ... it is a serious "hobby." I have forgotten how much time it does take. When I was taking the time, it didn't feel like it, but since I have gotten out of the habit and I am trying to gt back, I keep forgetting to boil my eggs for the week and make my muffins. Today may be the day, though. Cream cheese is softening on the counter.

Even though I have not visited the thread, I have been conscious of not eating after 7. At least I can do that!

Heather, what wonderful news. Now, fingers crossed that your credit record is so sterling that it puts you on the top of the list!

Brenda, well, even if you don't have lots of time, at least you have a bona fide hobby. Two of 'em! I think my hobby over the next few months will be getting this house in shape for the invasion.

Shelley, LOL! I just saw one of the smilies with a balloon "w00t!" Aha. I knew you had to have made that one.

This morning Bob exclaimed, "Guess what happened last night!" I am thinking something exciting happened at work ... fight on the street corner or whatever. Nope. Bob gleefully reported that Muffin joined him in his bedroom last night. I guess she finally figured out that Bob is in another room and she has to do her duty to both of us! (Yes, we sleep in separate bedrooms. Started after my hip operation and continues because of my snoring and his coming home late now. Works for us)!

Have a wonderful Sunday. And may the sun come out tomorrow. Hmm. Sounds like a song. XXOO

Fly-by while I wait for another 15 minutes when I will leave again. I played the piano as a substitute at the health center worship this morning. This afternoon, I am spelling in a bee, and tonight a "gala" in Los Angeles, at the new Cathedral. Should be an exhausting time!

Tomorrow we get descended on by the gkids for three days. I'm already creating rules.

see Peg's list above........... I just thought I had a busy life. (Note to Peg -- the weather in Carrollton this week got worse before it got better. The day after I sent you DD's message, they had tornados. There was quite a bit of damage in the Carrollton/Plano area [mostly Plano]. Hope your DD came out in good shape. Mine seems to managed to survive with little to no real problems.)

I feel bad that I have been so spotty in posting for the last week or so. I could elaborate, but it's the same old reasons..... Actually, people often ask me when I am going to retire, but if I did that, besides really really having to change my lifestyle, I would get bored. I figure most people can't even think about retiring until they are 65. Hopefully I can hold out that long. What does it say about the education business that a teacher aged 65 is highly unusual. Barb, I'm afraid that without some kind of structure I would just while away the hours without much to show for it. I'm pretty much a goal and accomplishment oriented person. I feel the need to achieve.

Thanks to all of you for the questions and comments to me over the last week. I have read them and at the time just didn't jump in to answer. Now, I don't remember them all. I do remember Donna giving me a temperature translation one day..... thanks Donna. I really should learn to think in Celsius. The temperature readout in my car is burned out for F so the only temp reading I get is C. I think of you each time I see it and try to guess exactly what it is in F.

As for hobbies. I have now moved to a point where I think or read more about them than I actually participate in them. I do sew some, but not at all like I used to. I came to the conclusion a while back that the computer has a big suck on my time. Email and grade programs are great, but they do eat up lots of time. I find myself doing much more multitasking than I ever thought possible. Hummm, does multitasking create stress........ I think so.

Re: healthy low carb living - Yep, I think it has to become a hobby or at least a preoccupation. When it was on my mind constantly I found myself much more successful. As Alida said this morning. It's just easier when you don't have to think about it. (I however NEED to think about it.) It wouldn't do me any good to join the "nothing after 7" group......... we don't even eat dinner until about 8:00 PM. I think I need a "One day at a time" challenge for myself.

Heather, sounds like the Habitat home may soon be a reality. Congratulations! We are all extremely excited for you.

Shelley, thanks for all the new smiles. I think it is great that you included all the special fur-babies. Lexi says thanks. . I'll bet people wonder where the names for the Kakhitoken and blkozpoodles came from. for your work. I know that one was just for you!

Have a good week everyone. I think I'll go get preoccupied in the kitchen.

Kitty Re: APRIL Tracking

Hi guys,

flying by again...seems to be the story of my life here lately as well. Not that I'm that busy with important stuff...just other stuff that's been neglected for awhile...yanno?

Alida...on the I actually found it somewhere out there on the net! But when I saw it, I knew we had to have it!! LOL!
Basically I just surf for free sites that offer smilies and such.
I can't believe how much some of those sites want for their graffics!! YIKES!!! So......I'm velly, velly careful about what I "click" on...hehe!

We have a freeze warning for tonight...blah! I so hope the fruit trees don't get nipped! I'm really looking forward to a good peach crop this year from a local orchard; hope tonight doesn't ruin their crop!

Everybody have a good week coming up!!!

I hope to pop in for in the morning.

(((hugs all around)))

Barb - I used to do a lot of crafts too but I haven't in many months. Maybe I'll jump on the health hobby with you too. It's a good skill to keeping working and improve on!

Flying by but reading along....

Busy day since my stepsister is in town with my nephew. We visited until my allergies got the best of me at mom's. I'm allergic their dog and cat. Worked out because DH was home when I got here. Got done early from work.

Have to be to bed early. So much dreaming about what I'm going to do about my hopefully new home next year that I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep. Have to be up at 5am for my little M.
