| Good morning ladies. managed a short walk this morning. Have to start somewhere, right? I really have to get some in before vacation - just to build up some stamina. weighing in on weddings - we were given a choice of a large wedding, a honeymoon to Hawaii, or a down payment on a house. went for the house. We planned and actually got married at DH parent's home. which was good as his mother ended up in emergency surgery the week before but all she had to do was get down the hall. Then a small dinner at a local restaurant room. I even made my dress and my one bridsmaid's dress. I used to love to sew. I still have half the 'hardware' in my ankle from the motorcycle accident in 2002. He had to take out one brace and some screws when one of the screws started working it's way out. It seems they just leave it in as long as it doesn't bother you anymore. So I still have one plate and some screws left. I figure after a while it is even harder to remove. I really should get back to journalling - its just so hard when the only stuff to report is how bad you are doing :(

| Quick hi and promise to be back later! Re: Weddings.....count two very (very!)small ones for me. No elopements, but not a lot of pre-planning, either This is the picture most people think is a wedding shot, but was actually a matron of honor deal several years after dh and I married. Sheesh, I thought I was fat then, too.

| Morning ladies. Sunshine and birds singing like crazy today. Brenda: You are goreous!! Wow!! I'd have that picture framed and put on my front door if I looked like that!! Barb: Put me down for 1 big wedding. My first marriage I had the whole deal....lot of good it did me. I should have saved the money and booted him to the curb before I said I do. (ohhhh, don't I sound evil?) Berta: I can't believe how "strong" you are not having the marita and chips ![]() MaryKay: I used to love to sew too. I made all my clothes and my mom's clothes too. I guess when you are as big as I was back then it was the only way to dress decently. The only thing you could find was black clothes! I can remember my mom crying cause she couldn't find anything pretty to wear. Things sure have changed now. Go to WalMart and there are more plus size clothes than regular sizing. Shelley: I'm with you on getting rid of these extra pounds. I'm furious with myself and I'm going to do something about it. Alida: If you figure out how to get rid of the belly fat please share....I have a whole bunch I'm willing to donate. Looks like tonight we will be going to my grandaughters ballgame. She's 8 now so she's moved up to a higher group of ballplayers. I guess this means she won't be able to sit on the ground in the field and play with the dandelions anymore. lol That can be saved for my grandsons tomorrow night. Wish they lived closer and we didn't have the long drive. Cost of gas is going to kill me this summer. Okay...off to work. I'll check in later.

| Hi Gang! Quote:
Re: Big weddings......I had two, well sort of. My first was a big church wedding with 8 bridesmaids and the whole shot. Remember, I was 17! And, the reception was across the street in the Women's Club meeting house. It was in that days when most everything was done "in house." Only the wedding cake was ordered special, oh, and the flowers. Unfortunately, the divorce was much less beautiful. My second wedding was a small one in the church where my dh served as pastor. We couldn't very well have a big one without inviting the entire church, so we invited family and a very few good friends. But, it was beautiful and very intimate. We were married in the nave (the area just above the pews where the altar sits and most times the pulpit and lectern). The guests sat in the choir area, and we stood in the middle between them (Two choir areas split on each side). A very good friend (also a pastor) married us. We had a lovely served dinner in a friend's backyard by the pool for everyone. The next day, the church gave us a huge reception on the lawn of the church and invited the entire town! It was just wonderful, with church lady cookies, punch, and lots of speeches. The church gave us a huge check with which we bought a dining room set we still have. Lots of sweet memories of that day. All six of our kids were there. My girls were 12 and 14. Tender ages to experience all that. Just a few months later they were flower girls in their father's wedding, which was a BIG one. Sigh. Note to Mary Kay: Don't you dare stop journaling her even if you don't feel like it's good news. We want to know!! Here is a place to take off your shoes, put up your aching feet and complain if you need to. Bren: Cute pic!! How did you ever get it on your computer?? Oh, I bet you scanned it, right? If I can I'll do that some day. Love and kisses to you all........... ![]() Peg |

| I saw in our Habitat manual that we will be picking out shrubs and rocks. We all have to agree on landscaping plans. Must be because we'll split the materials for cheaper costs and it needs to be fair. Appliances, cupboards and such we'll get to make for each of our home. Once the year is up and final inspection is made we can all move in. Until then we have to keep things according to the plans. It's all good for me, it's a brand new home. - Barb - I had just put mop on my own list of things to get. I love my swifter but if I just poor a bit of bleach in a bucket I know that I won't be spreading around harmful germs with the mop. Mops certainly do a better job. My swifter sheets are forever falling off. I wish we had one of those Big Lots. Until then Wal-mart does well for business. - Alida - Belly fat....liposection! If you know any great doctors that would do it for household cleaning services let me know so I can sign up! - MY WEDDING - I guess I did have a big wedding. My wedding dress was $3000, church filled to the brim of friends, family and people I didn't know and a big reception to follow. It was the wedding my mom had always wanted that she gave to me. Don't tell her but I didn't want a wedding - lol. It makes me just sick being the center of attention. I did well though and didn't break out in hives like usual. - MaryKay - Part of your journeying should be to force yourself to find one GOOD thing you did for yourself. Maybe you did walking like today or got in a good 8 hours of sleep. I love the idea of baby stepping because I get overwhelmed easily. - Brenda - ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PHOTO OF YOU!!! - Berta - Oh dear, I am sorry to hear about your DH. He is so lucky to have you there with him supporting him. I can imagine how frustrated you both must be. - Shelley - Great job on that walk! 92% humidity!! That scares me since electrolytes have been such a problem in the past. I'm sure you aren't silly and went nearly 100% salt free like me. Didn't know you needed SOME. lol - Donna - Enjoy your gd baseball game. I hear you on the gas. We plan on doing a lot of driving out to the Habitat Area to get work on. Some days DH and I will have to split up because of the kids to match our hours. - Peg - A dining room set was a great idea for you with your wedding money. More then anything I told my DH before we married that if we had anything for our home I wanted a kitchen table. We grew up in a small trailer which couldn't hold a table. We ate together on thanksgiving when we put some card tables together. lol |

| Re wedding dresses: My mother made mine from a design that she and I developed. She had a master's degree in clothing and textiles. I still have the dress. She sent it to New York to be cleaned and boxed so that it would not yellow. It's in the closet in DD's bedroom. Beautiful picture Brenda!! Last edited by Judy; 05-07-2008 at 06:16 AM. |

| per my journal entry this morning: Quote:
In the past, I've done sit ups til I'm blue in the face and other *waist* trimming exercises as well, but nothing really blasts away the real belly fat...I'm talking below the belly-button, poochy, flabby, ickies! and kinda !!! I had this almost identical conversation with a nurse at work just a few weeks ago, except it also included saggy breast tissue. She is planning on a tummy tuck and breast lift when she gets to goal weight. I dunno...I might would do it if I had 10-12K to spare, and didn't puke my shoe soles up everytime I have general anesthesia, but for now, I'm just thankful that what kinda sags and pooches is healthy. No one's body is perfect unless they are under 25, starving, and work out 8-10 hours a day, and don't live in the REAL world! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! ![]() Rant off! ![]() Everyone have a good OTH day!!! I'll try and pop back in later! ((( )))s

| Shelley: Tell your friend a breast lift really isn't necessary. This Sunday I was whining to dh that I was soooo cold at his ballgame...he told me to not wear a bra and that way I could keep my knees warm! (hey...do I hear some of you guys laughing?) Actually, I laughed too, but don't tell him! We went to dgd's ballgame last night. The rain held off until the game was over. She's the tiniest one on the team, but she's got spunk. I told ds it's time he got outside with his kids and taught them how to play ball...poor kid didn't have a clue how to hit the ball. His boys were supposed to play tonight but they have a prior date...thank goodness, I'm tired and just want to stay home. Too much running for this getting older grandma! Dh came home from his Legion meeting Monday night and informed me that we would be doing the steak BBQ on May 23. My job is to make coleslaw and potato salad for 80 people!! Nice...on a working day. Then I have all the tomatoes, onions, bread etc., to slice up too. How kind of him! Scale was not kind to me this morning but it could be cause we didn't get supper until after 8 last night. That's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it. Lots to do today...back later maybe.

| Belly fat? Just think of it as survival gear. Mother Nature built that in. Some of us have bellies, some of us have saddlebags. I say pick out a positive feature or two, and play up those. Bulges can be hidden or controlled with Lycra for a lot less than lipo! ![]() Not much rain here yet, Shelley. But we're ready for it. I'd like it to hold off for a while this evening though, so we can grill out for company. Heather, keep us posted on the house plans. There are SO MANY decisions to make. Rocks, too. You'll be great at it. For my wedding, I wore a short white eyelet dress, with flowers embroidered around the waist. I got it on sale--lucky to find a summer dress in July. Then the cleaners lost it. I would have worn that cute little dress for years. The band concert last night was a hoot! Turns out, as the solitary member of the "novice" band, I was first on the program, playing three tunes as duets with my instructor. I totally screwed up on "Old MacDonald"--the very first piece! But I laughed and asked the audience if I could start over. They were with me all the way. The second time around, we got all those farm animals in line. "Aura Lee" (the tune is "Love Me Tender") went well. I almost ran out of spit by the end of "The Saints Go Marching In"--but it brought the house down. They were so tickled with me as the brave beginner--and frankly, so was I. This is the first and last time I'll get so much credit just for being a good sport. And actually, I wasn't half-bad as a beginning trombonist. I plan to continue. Hope to get better! Gotta run...or walk. See you later. P. S. Donna posting simultaneously. You are the Energizer Bunny without a doubt. |

| Belly fat?? What's that?? Somebody post a picture. ![]() Have any of you seen or tried on the new ankle length skirts? Please give me quick feedback. I bought one for graduation. Linen with black, lime green and white design to wear with a cute black, unconstructed linen jacket that is a coordinate with the skirt. Looks very elegant, slimming. My problem is that I know they are catching on in big cities, but I'm thinking people might think I've resurrected something from 1969 out of my closet (remember maxi dresses and skirts, don't hear that much anymore since the invention of maxipads). OK, I bought another cute skirt as a backup. Be brutally honest with your opinion, the clock is ticking and I need to make a decision. I've been meaning to post about this. Barb, that concert must have delighted the audience. More entertaining than the real thing. Excuse me for a journal reprint: Quote:
