Happy Birthday, Alida. I'm glad to know you have celebration plans lined up into the future. That explanation of SocSec benefits made me dizzy. I'm going to cross my fingers, save every slip of paper, and let my accountant figure it all out in January.

Guess what? My wedding reception was also at the Georgetown Clubhouse. And that's where we lived for another two years, until we bought our house. (Not in the Clubhouse--we had a one-bedroom apt.) I loved Georgetown, and actually looked at the place again a couple of years ago, thinking about where we might relocate in retirement.

The window washers are doing our building today, even though it's still raining. I guess it's all water. Frankly, that boom arm they're using looks terribly unstable.

I'm off to Hallmark for a colleague's 25th anniversary. I've only been there one time since my own retirement. I'll use this opportunity to comb the cardshop and resupply my cards. And chocolate.

All about me today. I'm reading along and cheering for all you Moms. It's obviously a thankless job, and YOU are heroes.

Hug yourselves to pieces.

Alida Wishing this day brings all the best for you.

Yes, I did see Survivor last night ... I was the one sitting in my chair screaming...don't be such a fool!! I'm still in disbelief that Erik was sooooo stupid!!!!

Peg: I feel the same way that you do about special occasions. I've been disappointed way too many times. I think I've made it plain to everyone now to just ignore the day...that way I know I'm not going to be let down. I do hope that you have a really nice day though!!

Barb: Enjoy your day at Hallmark. I bet it's going to feel strange going back there!

Dh went to darts last night and I was all snuggled in and just starting to watch ER when the phone rang. We have a security company that checks in with our staff at the store every 2 hours (this is a WCB requirement). They had been trying but couldn't get hold of anyone. I started phoning...busy, busy, busy. So, I had to get dressed and drive 8 miles to the store in the pitch black, only to find out the staff member was having a lovely chat with his girlfriend. The best side of me did not come out!! Especially since I found out later that because it took me awhile to get there...the security company called the second person on the contact list which is our manager and he came out in the dark to drive to the store too!! If there were more people looking for work in this area....this guy would be fired! He totally denied being on the phone...silly boy, look at the security cameras! Dh definitely heard about it when he got home.

This weekend my ddil is having a BBQ for Mother's Day and my grandson's 4th birthday. I'm shocked that she is doing this. They've been married almost 8 years and never have we been invited for dinner. Something is up. I know they are having financial problems...aren't we all? Anyway, I'm happy that she is doing this, but my guard will definitely be up.

Yesterday was invoice day so a lot of things were put aside so I could get them all finished. Guess I should get busy and try to get caught up now. I just need a second pair of hands to do it all. Have a good day!

Red face Re: May Tracking

happy, happy birthday, dear Alida!!!
Here is a party for you!
I'm the one with the hardware creeping out of my foot. But, I do have to agree that it is hard to keep up with all of us! Love you!

Today is another "May Gray" day with overcast and cool weather. It is supposed to be this way until some time into next week. Sigh. Actually it matches my mood, to tell the truth. But, I did send flowers to my two daughters yesterday. I figured that it doesn't cost me as much to do that as it costs me in "pity partying" myself.

My Fibro is showing it's ugly face. I'm achy all over and having a hard time remembering things. It's called "Fibro fog." But, today I think that I will do some of that writing that I need to do. Sometimes when I am depressed, I have quicker access to my "heart" thoughts. My dreams have been all about looking for things and people. Frantic and Anxious. Not sure what that is all about.

This week I was asked to be on the planning team (two of us) for the closing worship for our Conference annual meeting. That is all the churches (UCC) in Southern California and Nevada. It's going to be held near here. Dh is going with me, which will be real nice. I will be able to share my own denomination with him for two days. It's been a while since I have been in the worship planning "mode." But, I am honored to be asked.

See y'all later.
Peace, Peg

Coffee Re: May Tracking

Strike up the Band - and
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALIDA

You aren't losing it, Peg has hardware in her foot waiting to come out, I had hardware in my ankle and had to have it removed. Yes, the screw was 'coming out' - you could actually see it under my skin. A penknife and a screwdriver and I could have saved myself some surgery.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday Alida. We are heading out tonight for vacation. and not much fits, but I will worry aobut that when I get back.
I am packing my DANDR book for reading material. not exciting, but hopefully will get my head back in the right place.

Take care all. I'll check in when I get back.

MK

Following along at a distance; nothing new to add.
Dinner date with DH tonight; I'm calling it my Mother's Day dinner...ha!
No way I will dine out on Mom's Day; it's usually just tooooo crazy...and the long lines??...fahgitabout it!

Wishing everyone a super weekend! Hope you all have lots of sunshine with some flowers thrown in for good measure!
My DD and a friend are jetting off to Seattle this weekend. Why? She said she's never been there, had a free airline ticket, and thought why not! She totally did NOT know it was Mom's Day when they put the trip together.
DGS gets to spend the weekend with his best little pal (who has a very watchful mom), so they both are getting what they want!

(((hugs to all!)))

My cat still hasn't learned what "retirement" means. 4:30 a.m. is a tad early for a Saturday. I think I'll have a muffin and coffee first, and walk later.

Actually, I didn't fall out of bed that early. Couldn't. I didn't get home from the opera until after midnight. The performance was excellent. The opera was a teeny bit dragged-out in places, and could have been shorter. But I think as American opera, it holds together well, and presents important and thought-provoking themes. John Brown has been somewhat neglected by history.

Peg, sorry about the foot problem. Hope that will be fully corrected soon.

Donna, ain't it awful when you can't even look forward to a BBQ invitation without thinking "something's up"? Oh well. I read Dear Abby, and maybe your dil does, too--never too late for making nice.

Hope everybody gets some personal time this weekend.

I don't think any cat can wrap their cat brain around that concept...or any other reason their servant would want to sleep in! har!

I was also awaken early, around 0600, I think, by a most persistent male cardinal determined to *sing his song*, sing it loud, and sing it proud, and repeat it numerous times as well. Sweet. That kind of wake up call is OK with me!

Seeing as how I got a little earlier start on my day, I opted to do the dreaded grocery store run this morning. So, that deal is done and over with! The skies are looking a bit more promising for no rain at the moment, so I think I'll just hustle my bustle and get on out the door for my fitness walk.

Let's see...I think our group may be a little *scattered* this week end, eh?

Alida & sistaSue are both off for family graduations.
MK is off for vacation.
Peg is busy with writings and worship planning.
Donna...going for a family BBQ and DGS birthday celebration.
Judy, Bert, Bren, Heather...whatzzzup for youze guys this weekend??? Inquiring minds want to know!
Barb and myself are here, pool side. Guess we'll keep the pool boy in line...it's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it, right?? LOL!

Just in case I don't get back in here tomorrow:

Wishing you all a very Happy Mom's Day, no matter
what type of a *baby* you have! Human or furkin!
You're all EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN and I can't think of anyone more deserving of a special day than all of you!
(((BIG purple hugs to all!)))

I leave in a few hours to get a facial (my first!), hair condition and scalp treatment and then hair trip. Yeah! Dad sent money for sister and me so that is where we're using it. Thanks Dad!

per my short journal entry this evening:

Quote:
We just saw on TV where a tornado had hit down in the SE part of the state; around McAlester. DH's parents live there, and we know lots of folks down there. They think it was an EF 2, possibly 3. Some major property damage, power outages, but so far no injuries reported.

DH just talked to his mom and they are OK. He is about to call and check on his dad (his parents are divorced). Really CRAZY OOOOklahoma weather this year! Sheesh!

Hapy Mother's Day.................. as Shelley say, no matter what kind of kids you have. I hope each of you have a great day.

I'm in Dallas right now. DH, DD and I saw "Rain, the Beatles Experiece" yesterday afternoon. today we are going to try to pick out paint colors for DD's living and dining area. That's our big summer project for her this year. Big is sort of un understatement....... three colors, vaulted ceiling, paneling to prepare. They may allow us to register to vote in Denton county by the time we get this project done.

Have a great day everyone!
