Morning Lovlies! Up waaaaaay early. DH called at 5 blinkin' o'clock this am to remind me to get up since I'm picking him up at O'Hare. Not my favorite trip, O'Hare at rush hour, but taking the shuttle would have him waiting there two hours. So, being the lovely helpmeet that I am Actually, it's a lovely early morning and I'd enjoy it except I've only had 5 hours of iffy sleep.

Barb, oh do enjoy having your own "garden" professionals I also applaud your involvement with the homeless. I do think sometimes of all the food I've wasted, or worse the food I've eaten that I didn't need....yikes.

Alida, good to hear Bob's got an appointment. Hope he'll get some help quickly. About Dad...LOL...well, he and Marjorie are having some issues, but he went down for Marjorie's Mother's funeral last week. "Granny" was 100 and a few months. The relationship problem is that Marjorie's church and family are giving her a hard time about Dad's visits. When she had pneumonia a couple of weeks ago, for example, her pastor told her it was God's punishment for "living in sin" when he came down.

per my journal entry this morning:
Quote:
Awakened at 0400 with back and leg spasms again. Only this time, it hasn't stopped. D*mn! It continues to be a low-moderate level of pain starting above the right hip, then coming around to the anterior thigh and radiating down the R leg; aka sciatica...aka...aacckk-a!! I don't have time for this, nor do I want to do the *next step* which is an MRI of the L-spine. Always something! A new adventure everyday when the body hits that *getting older* stage, eh?
I will definitely take today as an exercise day off, increase the NSAIDS today, and maybe try some moist heat after I get out of the shower. Hair appt later today, so I hope I can sit still and not fidget to much! Don't want highlights where highlights don't belong, right? LOL!

I'm going to concentrate on caloric intake for a few days and see if I can get into that *sweet zone*...and no, not sweets zone! LOL!
Usually, for me anyway, when I can reign in the calories, the carbs follow suit.

OK...off for a hot shower and see if I can relax this dang achey-breaky back (and leg).

hope to get back later for a *all round* visit!

(((hugs)))

and are you sick of the Kassie pics yet??? I warned you guys...I'm a total shutter-bug and I have a pretty willing subject(most of the time!) !!! har!!!

Kassie's new favorite place to *hang out*!

Shelley: That is definitely an "Awwwww" picture. She looks like such a little angel...I can't believe she gets into trouble!

Sorry about the leg pains. I sure know what you're talking about. Think I've overdone it on the treadmill. My knees and hips are throbbing. Like a fool, I thought it would feel better if I got back on the treadmill last night. Only did half of what I was supposed to. I'll rest for tonight and see what happens. This getting older is the pits!!

Peg: I'm so happy for you that you had a wonderful mother's day. You deserve it. I'll be thinking of you today and praying that your surgery is quick and painless.

Brenda: You get brownie points today for braving the traffic. I know it's not your favorite trip going to the airport. Got a chuckle out of Marjorie's pastors comments. It's a wonder he didn't blame her mother's passing on it.

Barb: I'll remember to post some pics as soon as things start blooming. Right now everything is green and growing like crazy, but not much colour. Wait until the lilies come into bloom, okay?

Judy: I'm sure we didn't hear from you today cause it's hard to type with a paintbrush in your hand. Right? lol

Alida: Africa wasn't my favorite place for Survivor either. I still remember the big fires they had to keep burning at night. I made a comment to dh that he could never go on Survivor cause he can't swim...but he came right back at me that I'd never make it cause of the snakes....ugh, just gave myself the shivers.

Last night was another play in the dirt night. I got the front grass cut and was on my hands and knees cutting back some borders when dh came home. That was the end of that...but what I have done is at least showing some progress. Oh, and I also realized that I need more flowers...forgot about the border going down the sidewalk.

Tonight is a ballgame in town and then a trip to Walmart to restock the motorhome with all the stuff that had to come out for the winter....stuff like hair gel, handlotion, etc..things that could freeze. It's already gassed up, water is full as is the propane tanks. Almost looks like we're anxious to get away doesn't it?

Ds and ddil have decided to give up the service station that they have owned for a year. I knew it couldn't work when he works graveyard shift at the mill and they have 3 little kids. It was a good attempt for them, but if they stay they will go broke. I'm hoping this will take a lot of stress off ds' back and get them back to where they were in their relationship.

Off to work....talk to you all tomorrow.

Hi gang!! Been a productive day of grocery shopping to two stores (walked with the little ones to 1 store) and tons of cleaning. Up at 5am so I could get ready for dear M to be walked upstairs. She is such a sweetheart so it's no problem at all. Once I had kids sleeping in was a thing of the past anyhow. I'd have to be knocked out cold to sleep through the boys in the morning.
-
Shelley - I thought I had it bad with my leg cramp two nights ago. My DH woke up 3am to me screaming in his face. In my defense I was half asleep. I hope that your body adjusts to this new fitness regime. I don't believe in no pain/no gain unless it's after 7pm hunger pains. lol / I don't think I could ever get sick of seeing those cute Kassie pics.
-
Donna - Hope this snow isn't coming your way. By Saturday it's going to be in the 80s. Yesterday...snow and today I didn't even wear a coat but sweatshirt only. Keeps things interesting!
-
Peg - Thinking of you and certainly will be thinking of you Wednesday for your surgery day.
-
Brenda - Decluttering and making jewelry sounds like the perfect day.
-
Barb - Have a good sunny day!
-
Alida - Seems like we have April snow showers brings more snow showers this year. / Good news on your babysteps in healthy eating!

Well, not quite........ that comes after school is out, and AP exams are graded, and inservice hours are prepared and presented. Therefore, painting will probably happen in July. This was color selection weekend. It's a good thing we selected early, she's decided that she isn't satisfied with the choices. It's a whole lot nicer to decide now than to get it half done and then have painter's remorse.

Quote:
Judy, LOL, teach that girl to paint! You're going to wear your car out just driving back and forth, much less yourself.
Truth is, I like doing it and she would never get it done for herself or have to money to pay someone to do it. It's sort of a win win situation.

We've been shut down for the last hour or so due to BIG thunder and storms. Since things are back up and working, I need to get working.

Peg, Thinking about you tomorrow......... hope everything comes out better than expected.

Judy - You are just sweet! I bet you have a really sweet dd that you would want to do this for too. They don't fall far from the tree right?

Today DH has a friend who may come in today from L.A. He is/was a police officer there and plans on moving here with his wife to start a family.

Tonight it's the children's Awana award ceremony at church. Jay, Charlie and cousin are both in Wednesday Awana so it'll be a nice treat. After that they'll be cookies. Thankfully it's after 7pm so it'll be past my approved eating time.

Good morning. I'm still waiting for the big heat to hit us...sure hasn't happened yet. We had a ballgame last night and as usual I was the only woman sitting there freezing my butt off. I'm sure I got rid of a few calories by shivering.

Dh's mom showed up to watch a few minutes of the game and for the first time ever asked "when am I going to see you again?" I'm thinking the "lonelies" have hit her. We told her we come and spend the weekend next weekend and that seemed to brighten up her mood a little.

Sure doesn't take long to drop a bundle in WalMart does it? Just picking up some of the stuff for the motorhome just about broke $200. Oh well, this stuff will last us until the fall when we clean it out for the winter, and then we will use it all up in the house. Every year I say I'm going to make a master list so I can remember what to put back in when Spring comes...and every year I don't do it. lol

We're going to skip our ballgame tonight to go and watch the grandsons' play. It should be fun. Nolyn just turned 4 and Kaedyn is 5. It's Nolyn's first year at t-ball. Kids that age are hilarious...picking dandelions instead of catching the ball. No attention span. Gramma will be there with her camera flashing tonight!

No exercise last night...still have sore hips and knees. Maybe tonight.

Peg: Please let us know asap how the surgery went...we're all worrying about you.

Sorry this is all about me...busy day at work again...I even came in early. Might get a chance to drop by later.

Thinking of you, Peg. Hope all is going well.

Donna, I keep heading outdoors without a jacket thinking, "Well, it's springtime, it's sunny, it must be warm." NOT. Bundle up.

Judy, liking to paint puts a whole different spin on the chore. There really is a feeling of accomplishment and pleasure in transforming a room with color. I saw a house the other day with portions painted in different combinations: somebody trying to make up their mind. One of the colors, I wanted to knock on the door and say, "I vote NO."

Well, back to packing. I want to travel as light as possible. I'm sure if I come up short of something I can find it in New York City, don't you think? Last I checked, they had toothpaste, contact lenses, all the latest developments.

I'll be gone for a week, and not sure what my internet capabilities will be. So hold my place at the pool--we're pool now, right?--and I'll come back with a full report and pictures. Which reminds me...pack the camera!

Take care of you! Donna, enjoy your motor home excursion. Peg, get well soon.

Good morning!

Quickly:

Barb, have a safe and fun trip! I must have missed something. What's up in New York?

Brenda, LOL about DH waking you up! My mind map of Chicago gets fuzzy. You have to travel east and then south for O'Hare, right? O'Hare has become a nightmare. Heck, just air travel is a nightmare anymore! My Chicago friends are coming by train this time ....

And that comment made by Marjorie's pastor? Ah. Don't get me started!

Peg! I am so glad you checked in. Here's hoping for a smooth recovery.

Judy, and when your done with daughter's house, my house is waiting, LOL!

Shelley, darling picture of Kassie! I guess he likes the heat from the electronics? And what a bummer about your leg. For my regular night time leg spasms, I take extra magnesium and that seems to work. But your spasms do seem like something else is going on. Aarrghh.

Donna, you are one busy lady! I laughed about never getting that master list done. I am so O/C, that list would have been done years ago. As a matter of fact, when I used to travel a lot (about 6 times a year) I did make a master pack list! That was way back when I was very high maintenance.

Survivor: at least we will have another season!

Heather, what is Awana?

Bob Update: his heart doctor was no help with the stomach issue. "Just watch it." Sigh. But he did feel a little better yesterday and was able to keep all his food down. Nothing "tastes good," however. Today is the day his friend comes to help him install THREE NEW TOILETS. No more clogs!

Have a great day ... and Peg, I do hope you will have an easy recovery! XXOO

Morning gang!! Charlie's last day of preschool was yesterday so today we can walk and not worry about missing his bus with him on it. Temperature predicted 71 today. Then it'll get into the high 80's by Monday. Certainly a change from snow this week.

Going to be a fantastic day! Tonight my sister and her DH are going to babysit so my DH and I can make our group meeting with our fellow home builders. I'm excited to go! Since my sister is coming straight from work I'll have chicken, salad, oven rolls and oven cookies. Easy dinner that I know everyone will enjoy.

Wow, 3 new toilets Alida? Hope your DH will feel up to it. I would be frustrated with that doctor of yours too. Ugh!

Awana is sorta of like boys/girls scouts but for church. They earn badges on the bible projects and verses they memorize. Yesterday Jay earned the most certificates out of his group of 15 boys. He really worked hard today. Charlie basically just has to show up to get his badges with his preschool friends. They had a great time yesterday and the Grandparents took us out for ice cream. I indulged in a diet soda - lol.
