Hello from Brooklyn. I'm here to attend the festivities celebrating my nephew's PhD at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. I'm "crashing" for a few days at his sister's place in NYC.
The flight out via Midwest Airlines was the best in ages. I managed to find my way from LaGuardia to Carnegie Hall by bus and train, and met up with my niece. I'll follow her around for a few days--looks like a good day for indoor activities today, as it is cool and rainy. Tomorrow we're hoping for sunshine and the Circle Line boat tour of Manhattan.

Alida, three new toilets is very ambitious for a not 100 % healthy guy. Good luck to them. Can't stop 'em, can we.

Peg, hope you are recuperating rapidly.

Everybody here is still asleep, but I am so NOT a sleeper. Maybe I can figure out how to make coffee.

See you tomorrow.

Sounds fun Barb!! Have a good time!!

Went to our home builders class yesterday to sign a lot of papers that we approve our lot and house. Learned that we'll have 2 visits from the Mayor with a barbecue. One is for the ground breaking where we stand on our land with gold shovels! The other is for our Open House. Do you think I might tell the Mayor she should wipe her shoes before she comes inside my home? lol

Today is Pastor's retirement party. He has been our Pastor for 33 years! We'll have it at the Airport in a beautiful dining facility. I've never been there. It'll be both fun and sad.

Good morning...and what a gorgeous morning it is. Blue skies, sunshine, no wind, and I only have to work until noon. What more could a girl ask for?

We leave a noon for our camping weekend. Poor furkids have been so excited since we parked the motorhome in front of the house. Everytime we open the door they run and stand outside the door to the motorhome ready to go camping. Today they can finally get inside. Lily rides on the headrest behind dh cause he likes to munch on crap while he drives. If he doesn't share....she smacks him on the head with her paw. So funny.

I spent most of last night packing and making sure all of my plants were well watered. Dd will check on them this weekend and water what needs it. It's going to be a scorcher this weekend so I know they will need it. Looks like we might be breaking records for high temps.

Also got back on the treadmill last night too. I've been using that darned thing since November and it's kind of funny...my legs seem to be getting weaker instead of stronger. Can't make it as long as I used to. I'll keep plugging along though.

Barb: Good to hear from you. Have a great time on your trip.

Heather: Too funny telling the mayor to wipe her feet! Enjoy your dinner.

Okay, gotta scoot....a few things to do before I leave at noon. Have a good weekend everyone.

That worries me Donna. I had something similar happen to me once when I was exercising and not getting enough salt. My electrolytes were shot. Are you fatigued all the time or just the result of exercise?

Am somewhat more coherent than when I wrote the last message, but juuust! Tomorrow I go back to the inevitable lunch. I'm preaching on Sunday at a church not too far from here. Nice way to earn a buck. My rt foot (the without the hardware now) I have bandaids on. Last night I happened to look down on the carpet under my computer and there was quite a pool of blood. Oops. One of the stitches ca ,me out and I needed m,ore than bandaids. But, it doesn't hurt. The other foot has a BIG bandage on it and my toes are black and blue. Standard, I suppose. I'm doing pretty well.

Peg, I am definitely not one to laugh about typing errors...... believe me spell check is my friend, BUT, I believe after reading the message above that you are still somewhat loopy. Your congregation on Sunday might get a real kick out of the sermon. Glad you are feeling better.

Peg: You betcha! But sorry about the blood on the carpet. Is there stuff to take it out? Are you able to walk OK, or do you need a cane or crutches? Seems like your house saw a lot of surgeries this year. Ya'll get better now, ya hear? (Judy, did I say that right?)

Barb, so that's why you are in New York! There used to be a small restaurant right next door to Carnegie Hall called The Russian Tea Room. I was there one day with some friends. We were seated in a booth between Raquel Welsh and Mick Jagger & Keith Richards. Florence Henderson was a little further away, as was Walter Cronkeit. Mick Jagger left his sunglasses behind and my friend was going to grab them. But -- he came back. Let me tell you, Raquel is absolutely gorgeous ... and very petite. We left a few minutes ahead of Raquel and we were outside waiting for a cab when she came out. My friend Marie gave out one of those real loud whistles to try to get a cab to stop and Raquel laughed and clapped her hands. Marie bowed. What a fun memory that is!

Donna, you have left already, but have a blast! You mention scorching heat. Already???? Looking forward to your full report!

Heather, so that's what Awana is! I laughed when you said all your little has to do is show up. At his age, that's huge and deserves a badge!

I came home to three new toilets! Bob had help. He had a friend from work come over. This friend is a plumber but is working the security guard job because the construction industry is kinda slow right now. He charged $50 each. That's better than Lowe's price of $135 each! Bob is still sleeping so I don't have the Report yet. I hope it all went smoothly.

Yesterday I spent about $200 on flowers. I didn't have a plan in my head. I just went to WalMart and started loading up the cart. At least the colors go together! Next year, I am going to get some perennials planted. It really needs some low evergreens and day lilies to round things out.

We did get a complaint from our home owner's association about our driveway. We knew it was coming! At least I could tell them it will be done this summer. Whew.

Busy day today. Getting ready for out-of-town guests (the Marie I mentioned above, along with her husband Ken). They arrive on his birthday, so I have to make a cake .....

Hi gang!! The scale looked good this morning, working on laundry and going to surprise the kids with a Narnia movie in a bit. Must get myself to the shower. With my blood plasma donation money yesterday I bought a Hello Kitty Gift card for my nieces 3rd birthday at Claire's. This store has jewelry (not the fancy kind) and hair clips/bands. Ended up spending the rest of my own money on some jewelry to match more of my outfits and some hair bands for construction in a month. In this summer weather I'll be to sweaty to have nice hair will just pull it back in these fancy bands at least. Just because you are working hard it doesn't mean you have to look like junk right? lol

Peg - About passed about the pool of blood! Glad it doesn't hurt at least. Hope you have a great time with your church friends Sunday.
-
Alida - During our meeting we learned that we have to have a certain amount of perennials and annuals (sp?) as well. One type will grow back every year they said. Will you be able to show us pictures of your yard? I'd love to see these $200 of flowers all arranged will your artistic eye.

HI gang. Sorry I haven't chimed in more. Got a new "regular" hospice patient, got the job, and got a cold. The job is the one at the very nice assisted living center. When I finish training it'll only be 3 4-hour shifts a week, so I'll still have a life However the next three weeks will have a little crazier schedule.

The cold is bothersome, though, since I'm supposed work a few hours Monday and I don't want to be contagious. Right now, anybody comes around me at their own risk! Will check in later.

Hi everyone... not much here.. still playing nurse. Not much longer till knee replacement.

I have been getting some of "those" jobs done. Cleaned kitchen drawers, painted bathroom woodwork.. tomorrow is clean deck with deck cleaner stuff. Landfill Monday with dh's contaminated recliner.. $700 chair to the dump..but, don't want to take any chances of him getting re-infected.

Alida, Send me a piece of cake... I am absolutely dying for a piece of cake. I know you will have a good time with your friends.

Barb.. NYC, how fun.. Have a great time.

Peg.. How's the foot today??

Heather.. so you have to plan for yard stuff too?

Bren.. hope you like your new job.. nothing worse than a cold this time of year. I hope you get over it soon.

Donna.. camping, I remember those days. I loved going to the lake in the motor home, such a great get-a-way. At the time we camped there were no cellphones, so we truly got away from everything. It was wonderful.

Take care everyone & Alida, I am anxiously awaiting the cake

LOL, Berta ... although the cake may have to wait. I spent all day at the hospital with Bob. When he got up this morning, he had severe chills for about an hour then could barely get up and down the stairs. We headed immediately to Urgent Care and they sent us to the emergency room. After a chest x-ray and a cat scan, we are pretty sure it's pneumonia. But this may be affecting his heart because some sort of enzyme levels are elevated. Now these can be elevated because of a heart attack -- or -- just elevated because Bob is sick. He is taking antibiotics, IV, and tomorrow his heart doctor will take a look. He will be in the hospital, I think, until Monday. He says he is feeling better, but he sure looks awfully tired and drained out. -- some prayers, please! XXOO

Dear Alida,
Sending prayers and good thoughts that Bob will feel better soon and especially that his heart check will be normal. I can only imagine how worried and concerned you are. Take care of you, too, sweetie.

Grrrr, Alida, Don't you just want to strangle the heart doc who just saw him last week. Hope Bob is better soon!!

We went to Tyler today. Dniece had a very nice baby shower. She is haveing twins, one boy and one girl. Her nursery has beautiful dark (black) furniture with brown and pink bedding for the girl and brown and blue for the boy. Now that I have seen the things, I will be able to make them blankets or some kind of lovie type item. Dniece and her husband are not telling anyone the names, so personalization will be out for the time being.

Paper grading and gades to work on tomorrow....... lots of them. As least there was one day off this week.
