What a cutie! Peg, put her crate in the bedroom with you. As Brenda suggested, put it up on a chair. Then you can put your fingers through the wires and touch her. That will assure her that you have not abandoned her. If she has never been in the crate, it will take her a few days to acclimate. Press for that downstairs house....... it will be so much easier for you to get her in and out. Also, look for Puppy Pads at Wal-Mart or the pet store. That will give her a place to go when she is there by herself or when you miss your management times.

Thanks, Judy. We have "pee" pads all over the house. She knows to come into the office to the pee pad in here if she has to poop. She doesn't quite make it on the pad, but is in the vicinity.

We are "pressing" for the downstairs house. The current occupant invited us over to see it the other day. It is really lovely, though will need work. That's okay. Then, yesterday, we heard that he had had a stroke! Oh my Gosh, I felt so guilty for wanting his house!! But, he only had a little TIA. TTL.

It's a wood house, with wooden siding on the outside. Painted dark brown. It is definitely a California house. Fairly flat slate roof. But, it has two bedrooms and a study. The living room (WITH a fireplace! Not that we need it for heat, but it looks so pretty) and dining room are one big room. There is a screened in porch outside these rooms. The master bedroom has a door to the back yard. All in all, a nice house with LOTS of storage. A bathroom and a half. Eh. I can live with that as long as I get the bathroom and not the half. A nice sized backyard. Just big enough for someone (me) who doesn't want to do a lot of yard work. But, big enough for flowers. It has a covered carport. Yeah!! We can begin redecorating as soon as the current owner is offered a single unit. They are scarce these days. We are full up.

Love you, Peg

Although I know you hate to admit it, in a situation like yours, turnover is fairly regular. Maybe the house will be available soon.

Good morning!

Peg, be sure to tell us what's up with the blood tests, OK? As for puppy training, I spent a month of my life with Roscoe when he was a puppy. I went nowhere. I kept him confined to our lower level family room with the crappy rug that was going to be replaced. I watched him all the time, paying special attention to the prime pee times -- after eating, after playing and waking up. The minute he started doing a sniff and circle, out he went. Worked like a charm, but then, I was not working and was able to do this. Also, he ended up being 100 lbs. And yeah, when Bob was out of town, I'd let him on the bed with me! We never crated him, but constructed a large corner with 2 plywood boards and lined the floor with a piece of vinyl. God. I loved that dog.

Donna, is today the psychiatrist visit? And is it your daughter or son? As for your neighbor, thank goodness she is all right after all of that. You and your DH are really sweethearts for taking care of her lawn.

Brenda, thanks for the GE Profile tip. It does seem like not drying dishes completely is way up there in the complaint department. Some of the European dishwashers are really bad at it. I do realize plastics are especially hard to dry. I did read some good reviews for Whirlpool top of the line.

Heather, you rock.

Mary Kay, sounds like things are really progressing. Good thing you are reading up on tenant/landlord stuff. Renting to friends could be touchy. Best that everything is laid out in the beginning.

Judy, I remember when you made that costume last year! It just amazes me that after a day spent with painting, etc, you just sit down and "make a costume!" As for the doors ... now I understand!

Got to run. Wow. Tomorrow is Friday! XXOO

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS????? I AM PRE-DIABETIC!!!!! I can't believe it! Well, to tell the truth, I can kind of believe it. I've been eating sweets like there is no tomorrow for a year since we moved here to the old folks home. My glucose was 114. 120 is diabetic. I still can't exercise because I can't walk because of the pain. But, I can cut down on the sugar. She (Dr.) is sending me to a dietician. Ha! I probably know more about food than she does since I've been on most of the major diets at least once. But, I will go like a compliant patient.

Bff's Vera (also a Shih Tzu) is here for the weekend. You should see the two pups tussle. They played until Sweet Pea just collapsed. She is used to taking two naps. Vera has outgrown that. So, Vera had lunch. But Sweet Pea is sleeping through. We'll see if she wakes up before we get back.

Peace, Peg

Peg....Sweet Pea? I thought the pups name was Glory?

Good thing your doctor was on the ball and caught it fast before you are a full blown diabetic. Go and teach that dietician about low carb!

Peg, my goodness! Things are really popping out out your way. First, oh my, that little Glory face She is absolutely precious! I'd love to see Vera Glory playing. They'll be bff's, too. The house sounds wonderful; something to look forward to. Yes, you get the full bathroom by my vote Pre-diabetic, darn it I'm sorry to hear that. Well, if you were looking for a signal, maybe this was it? Yup, bet you'll know more than the dietitian. I'll bet you get the usual ADA blah-blah.

Hi Alida! Hi Judy, Hi Donna, Hi Heather--nice to see you've all been here, and Hi to Bert who is reading as I write. And Hi to everyone else, too!

Here's my big news of the day.....DH has a job interview tomorrow. It's with a really great company, doing something he's good at. So if anyone wants to say a prayer, cross fingers, or use their mojo, it would be appreciated. I actually made him go to the barber today, LOL! I've been cutting his hair for years but I told him he needed something better my chopping and whacking.

Well, worked today, will a full day tomorrow and still have a lot to do, including pressing dh a nice shirt and pants (another thing I do only under duress)

See you guys later.

Hi Gang! Here I sit with my cuppa searching the internet for info about Diabetes. It does seem as though low carb is the way to go, with some moderation of the "no-sugar" rule. Though I may be wrong about that.

I DID change Glory's name to Sweet Pea because my friend here at the home objected to me naming my pet the same name as hers! I am a peacemaker, not a fighter. Besides, I have to live with this woman until I die! Yikes! Sweet Pea suits her, though after last night, I think it should be spelled Sweet Pee. She wet the (our) bed again. This time it rolled right onto my side of the bed, and onto me. I jumped out of bed, changed my nightie, and put a towel over the spot. Fun times! not! Dh took the two dogs out this morning and brought them back all muddy. My bff would have a fit if she could see Vera, her sweet white Shih Tzu. She ain't white now! But, baths for both babiees this afternoon. Sweet Pea sees the vet this afternoon for the first time.

Mojo and prayers to your dh, Bren.

I looked at your album Judy. Wow! Lovely. I would never have thought of brown for a bedroom, but you did a lovely job with it along with the white woodwork. It looks elegant. I do wish I had your energy. Maybe after I get my diet and exercise under control.

Waves and hugs to all reading.

Peace, Peg

Hi gang! Just flying by before I hit the sack. I have an 8-10 hour work day tomorrow on the houses so need my rest. We are having a barbecue and meeting the neighbors in the area tomorrow so that should be fun. Glad that my DH is with my because I am terribly shy but come out of my shell better with him around.

I'm sorry to hear that dear Peg is prediabetic but I'm so glad that you caught that before it was full blown. Have you been feeling thirsty or tired? Hope you find just the information you need to keep this under control sweetie.

Night everyone! I'm really tired since I spent a lot of time doing chores today. Need to get ready for a few busy days. My sister is coming here tomorrow to watch the kids which is so nice. They love their Auntie.

Peg, I love the name Sweet Pea Some times I'll call one of my girls Sweet Pea, or Sweet Pee-Pee as a term of endearment I'll bet bath time yesterday was something to behold.

Heather, you'll do fine with the neighbors. You are a lovely, sweet gal and no one could keep from liking you.

Dh's interview must have gone well yesterday. He says it was hard to tell, but he's been told next week they'll arrange for him to come for lunch and meet some of the engineers he'd be working with. I'll take that as a positive sign Thanks for the continued support--even getting an interview at our age is great, eh? I'm not sure attitudes about ageism are changing as much as the media would have us think.

Ok, I'm off for a while. Lots to do before work this afternoon. Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend.

Brenda - Hoping and praying the best for your DH to get this job!
-
What a great hard working day we had. I wore shorts since it was high 85 today and working hard didn't want to overheat. I thought I wore enough sunscreen but burnt the back of my knees. I won't make that mistake again. We are working so hard and moving so fast that we ran out of materials today and got down a few hours early. I just love my group. They are hard working, smart and nice. We follow the treat others like you would want to be treated motto. I feel very fortunate.

I'm so tired!

Good morning!

I am a bit under the weather this weekend. Came home Friday with my stomach aching and a bit distended. I think it was all the raw carrots I ate. Not low-carb, but better than a candy bar. I think they all just sorta stuck there. Meanwhile Friday night was not fun. I almost called Bob but then figured, what can he really do? Saturday was spent on the loo and taking naps. Today I awoke with a blooming headache and little appetite. But BETTER than Friday!

oh, Brenda!!! Lots of prayers heading your way. It's a good sign he is meeting with fellow employees! I'd like to think age and experience wins over youth and inexperience every time!

Peg, Sweet Pea is a darling name! Some people can be so picky. Is Glory the actual name of the person living there? If it's Gloria, she's being picky. If someone named their dog or cat after me, I would be honored!

Pre-diabetic? If you need any advice, remember Bob is a diabetic. I think the one thing you will miss is your wine. There is a member of LCE who is a diabetic -- I can't remember her name. She's a beautiful redhead. She had good luck controlling her meds with a low carb diet. Bob did not do so well because he would not adjust his meds down. So less carbs = less blood glucose but with the meds giving him less glucose, the combo sent his levels down too low. Do you have to check your glucose levels? Any meds?

I think I will try to have some coffee. Wouldn't ya know I get sick over a weekend? There was so much I wanted to do ..... Have a good one .... and a big hello to all I did not mention .... XXOO

Alida: I do hope that you are feeling a little bit better by now. Uh, yeah....right now, I'm thinking that i'm not giving up my wine. But, if I have to, I will. I did it when I first lost weight. I need to call the dietitian tomorrow and get an appt. No meds yet. The Dr wants me to control it with food if possible. She did mention meds, but we'll see. The person here at the "home' has a DOG named Glory. She didn't want me to name my dog the same name as her dog. It's okay. Sweet Pea suits her much better, though Sweet Pee is much more appropo right now. Frankly, I give up about late afternoon, and if i catch her, okay, but if I don't, EH!

Bren: Hooray for dh. Yeah, I would take "meet the people you willl be working with is a good sign.

Heather: I love your enthusiasm and the way that you are taking care of youirself. Good going, girl.

Looks like the two dogs have decided to stop chasing each other around the house and rest. So, Mama is going to rest too. Later, chicks!

Peg - I like Sweet Pea for a name. it is cute for a small dog. I hope she trains you soon and I hope you get your health under control.

Alida - I hope you feel better soon too. No fun being ill on a weekend.

BC - sounds to me like he will be working there. yay.

Heather - You exhaust me just telling us about your day. Oh, to be young again.

well, DH bought a software package for designing our room (guess he got tired of my little drawings) - but I haven't been able to get on it - he is on it all the time.
so, thinking about the dining room being part of the living room 'space' - and I have that gorgeous RED couch in there. DD and I did my dining set sets in a butter&blue material several years ago, and I'm just not sure that will work.
So, I went to Joann's Fabric site - and the first material I looked at - PERFECTION!! I am so into Dragonflies. Even have one tatood on my back.

so, ordered a few yards. I think I can find a use for it. Plus, the carpet will be a shimmery sand color. Just amazing!

Starting to pack, but quite a lot to go, but quite a bit of time also. I'm trying not to think about it too much right now.
