As Donna noted last week, there is a good reason why "seasoned adults" don't have young children. Miss O wore us out. She is going to have to wear a uniform to her pre-school/day care this fall. As you might guess, they don't come small enough. I'm having to make some of the bottom pieces. Hard to believe that you can cut one skort, one pleated skirt and one A-lined skirt all out of one yard of material.

MK, I love the Dragon Fly fabric.

Judy: Miss O is absolutely gorgeous. Tired now? I sure do know the feeling. Looks like you had all the toys to keep her busy though. Busy is good for little ones...keeps them out of trouble.

Heather: You do sound tired...but happy.

Alida: Feeling better I hope. Dh and I spent Friday night taking turns in the bathroom (that's when it's terrible only having one bathroom). I think the salad at the Legion had turned. We've okay today.

Peg: Sweet Pea is a perfect name for such a pretty girl. Sounds like she's getting you wrapped right around her paws. Don't they all?

MK: Love the dragonfly material. You have a dragonfly tattoo? I've always thought I'd like to have a small lily tattoed on my shoulder. Actually, dh is thinking of having a lion tattoed on his arm and if he does I just might get on too.

Well, we took Sora to the groomer yesterday. That groomer was just perfect for her. She got on the floor and played with her to gain her trust. By the time we left she was okay. I was a little nervous what she would look like but shouldn't have worried. She looks so cute! She got a Cavalier Spaniel cut. Her back is shaved as is her tummy but she saved the long fur on her sides. She's much more comfy now in the heat and just spraws out with her feet behind her so her whole tummy is on the cool grass.

We took turns going into stores yesterday cause we had Lily in the car. It was way too hot to leave her alone in the car. Worked out good cause I got to go into WalMart alone and scored a really cute sundress. (I went in for catfood! lol)

It's deadly hot here today. I just sort of followed the shade as it moved around the yard and did gardening where I could. I started the sprinklers at 7 when I got up and just kept moving them all day. Remember the seeds that Terry sent me for the Poor Man's Orchids? They are just starting to bloom now...so pretty.

Okay, I'm off to bed. Tomorrow I'm going back to town to the specialist to see what my catscan said about my sinuses so I probably won't be posting. Have a happy Monday!

Good Morning All...

Donna... let us know how the CT scan went. Sounds like your household has calmed down somewhat. What tatoo would you get, should you decide to get one?? I've thought about it for a long time... my dil who is nearly my age (due to his, mine & ours marriage) got a pretty little violet on her shoulder.

Peg.. Sweet Pea is a great name.. not to sure about Sweet Pee ..
she is adorable. Regarding pre=diabetes... son=in-law and stepson were both diagnosed with diabetes.. one lives in Va. the other in TX and their doctors told them to do low carb. Step-son has just started and having a hard time just dealing with the fact... dsil was diagnosed about4 years ago, he immediately started the low carb and lost weight, got sugar under control, reduced cholestrol and trigclycerides (sp???) So, just some info on someone elses' history.

MK loved the material, that should work very well with the couch etc. You are so excited, keep us posted.. love following along on your new place.

Heather... You go Girl!!! A lotta of hard work, but you are really going to have something when you are finished.

Alida.. Hope you are feeling better today.. it's the pits to be sick on the weekend.. worse if it's during the week and you don't get paid.

Judy.. loved all of your pictures, the remodeling etc.. lots of hard work. Miss O is just adorable!!

DH is home, he came home last Thursday. For the most part is hasn't been as bad as I anticipated. He started physical therapy today and I went along and worked out in the gym.. good for both of us. The gym is actually the out patient physical therapy department, but our town is so small they have memberships available.

Had a good weekend read 2 books by Jodi Picoult. I have read 3 altogether that she has written. Fast reads, with a twist at the end of the book. Of course I always read the last page or two of a book when I am about 1/2 way through.. big mistake with her books.

Coffee Re: July tracking

Good morning ladies. My, aren't we a quiet group lately? Looks like we need Barb back to get us up and running every morning

Berta: If I were to get a tattoo I think I would go for a small lily on my shoulder. I grow asiatic lilies and just love them. I'm pretty sure it would be on my shoulder so only I would know it was there. I have this vision of a 80 year old lady with shriveled up skin and lots of tattos ya know? lol

Glad to hear that dh is doing well...and you get the added bonus of working out at the same time as his therapy.

Well, it was a waste of my time at the doctor yesterday and it really annoys me. There is a shortage of doctors in BC and you can wait months for an appointment. I lost a day at work so he could tell me the scan was fine and he thinks I have allergies. Geez...he could have told me that over the phone....except he wouldn't have gotten the big bucks that he did for me to come in. Maybe there was someone else that needed that appointment more than I did!

Anyway, we had left the dogs at home so we decided to take the day and just browse in town. Went to a used book store and found a couple of Nora Roberts that I hadn't read. Then on to a nursery where I found a climbing vine to replace the jasmine I lost last winter. The fellow was very informative and told me that the wisteria I'm growing won't bloom for 8 years! Well, that's nice. Now I can stop looking for flowers for the next 3 years! lol We had a nice lunch and then headed to WalMart and then to Michaels. Spent the whole day in town...thank goodness for a/c in the car...never would have made it without.

It's terribly hot here. Fire danger is in the extreme range. It's sooooo dry. Rain would really be a blessing about now.

Seeing as I didn't do any work yesterday I'd better get back at it. Just wanted to stop in and say HI.

Hey kids, looks like we've been busy. Me too, pulling a couple of unexpected days at work for someone sick. Nothing much new here, but always glad to check in with you all and see what's up.

Bert, so happy that dh is doing well, or at least better than you expected. You needed something good to happen, eh?

Donna, I'm just not sure I could tolerate your heat very well. You too, Peg. Well let's face it, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas aren't known for their pleasant summer weather, either! Illinois? We complain a lot about summer, but usually there are only a few truly miserable days.

Sorry to hear what a waste your appointment was. Sheesh.

Judy! Miss O is still the most adorable child. I'm trying to wrap my mind around the idea of uniforms for pre-school, though Was it ever determined whether or not she was gluten intolerant?

MK, I really like the fabric you chose. My colors, too Pretty exciting how everything is fitting together.

Peg, how's the little Miss Sweet Pea?

Alida, sure hope you are feeling better.

Heather, I know you're busy building

Everyone else, big waves!

I'm off to a short inservice at work on oxygen (reading tank meters, replacing them, safety, etc.) Then out for coffee/snack with a friend. Hoping clothes in the dryer are finished by the time I have to leave. folding not dh's cup of tea. Toodles!

Hello...hello....hello....(did you hear that echo?) Where the heck is everyone? Oh well, it's not the first time I've talked to myself.

It's kind of cloudy today, so I'm hoping for some rain. I'd love to stay inside tonight and get some scrapbooking done. I have a page laid out on my table that's probably getting dusty it's been sitting there so long. I've been spending nights weeding the front yard. It's done now...so I can start on the backyard. Never ends.

Did my walk last night...boy, was it ever hot. Then I took the dogs out. I can't believe the difference in Sora just getting her hair cut. She's not panting nearly as much...and she holds her tail up so proudly now. Dh and I are pretty sure we're going to keep up the grooming for her. It's made a difference in the amount of hair in the house too...that's a definite perk!

Brenda: When I moved to the interior from Vancouver the first summer just about killed me. All I wanted to do was sleep it was so hot. But, after about 2 months I started to get climitazed and now I don't even think about it. In fact, when I go to Vancouver, it's so moist down there by the ocean I'm freezing all the time. You'd get used to this heat too...so come on and visit me! lol

This morning did not start out good. First of all I slept in. Supposed to be at work at 8 and I woke up at 10 to 8. This is not good. Then I walked out into the dining room and Lily had diarrhea all over the floor. Definitely not good. So, I grabbed her and yup...she needs to have her butt washed. There is no way in heJJ that I'm going to make it to work on time. And, I HATE to be late. So, instead of panicing which is what I would normally do I just took a deep breath and started cleaning. I had the mess cleaned up, the dogs butt washed, I was dressed, makeup on and out the door by 10 after 8. I was late for work but the boss doesn't even show up until about 9:30 so he'll never know. The rest of the day has to get better.

Dd got offered another job yesterday. It would be 10 minutes from her house. No need to ask people to drive her to work. Dh has been giving her some hours so she could pay her rent but come winter we won't need her and she knows this. She turned the job down! Can you believe this? She said she's happy where she is and would miss the people. I'm sure either the meds she's on are keeping her so mellow she's not thinking straight....or she drank so much that she's killed brain cells. This is a small town. Getting offered a job is something you grab cause you might not find another that close to home for over a year. People around here get a job and keep it so there aren't that many openings. I just don't understand her.

Friday night we are doing another steak BBQ at the Legion. It's also the day of a very large funeral for one of our vets. They are already planning on moving the service to the community hall cause the church won't hold everyone they think is coming. Afterward the tea will be held at the Legion so we could have a big turnout for the dinner. I'll start making salads tomorrow night...macaroni and coleslaw. I'm hoping we didn't bite off more than we can chew.

Okay, I'd better get some work done. Have a good day everyone.

Fly-by to let you guys know that we are back in Dallas, and DDad is back in the hospital. Daddy has been getting progressively weaker over the last few weeks, with increased choking and coughing. Yesterday he had blood work and the results reported this morning seemed to indicate that he had a significant decrease in hemoglobin indicating internal and probably life threatening hemorrhaging. After tests in the emergency room today, they believe there was a mistake in those results. However, he once again has pneumonia and was admitted for that and other test irregularities. The doctor told DH this afternoon that we would probably know by Friday whether the treatments would have any positive results. If they don't, depending on his condition at the time, he could return to his nursing home under hospice care or if he is in immediate danger of death, would remain in the hospital's hospice center. It's not good, but not as imminent as it appeared earlier today. He is conversational and lucid for the most part, but that also wavered during the day.

Good morning!

It's hard to believe I haven't posted since Monday! I swear time is passing much faster lately.

Feeling great now. Two out of the last three weekends saw me with tummy troubles. What's up with that? Probably AGE.

Peg, Sweet Pea is an adorable name! Now I understand about the Gloria bit. OK, maybe having two dogs named Gloria in the same area may cause confusion ....

Brenda, any news yet on DH's job interview???

Berta, how convenient to be able to use the gym right there where your DH is doing rehab! When I was doing rehab, poor Bob just had to sit in the waiting room. And hooray! that having DH home is not as bad as you thought it would be.

Judy, that is sad news about your Dad. Prayers being sent for some good test results and that he will be comfortable. I loved the pictures of Miss O. Day Care uniforms? That's a new one for me!

Donna, I take it it's HOT up there, LOL! I really don't know how you do that garden work in the heat. It was only 90 or so here and I thought I would die just putting out the hose and then turning it off. I was outside for a total of 5 minutes or so. TG for A/C. I'll bet Sora looks adorable with her new hair cut! And DD turned down a job??? You said "another" job. Does she have one besides working for you? Or is working for you the job she says she likes?

Mary Kay, I love that fabric! It will be perfect for your new home. BTW, what software did you buy to "draw" your home? If it's Punch, that's the one I have ....

Hello to everyone I did not mention. Oh, I talked my boss into starting Atkins. I may join her next week. I have to get a bunch of non-induction foods out of the house .... strawberry pie (made from scratch with LARD in the crust) and Donna's Zucchini Muffins. I hope I get get my mind going on this. I think I am feeling some results from Curves .....

Have a great day. XXOO

dog Re: July tracking

I'm around and reading gang. Sorry for not posting. Here it is 10:00 am and I am still in my jammies. I'm going for "slug of the year." MWF I have PT on my poor little feet. It hurts like hejj. Then I spend a good part of Tu and Th icing and elevating just to get over the PT. I do have exercises which I am doing (for my toes).

I'm still sort of in shock with that pre diabetic diagnosis. Dh is too. He is very worried about me. So am I. I just can't seem to get into the lc mood. I think it is partly the water bit. And, partly this huge lunch we have here. And, of course, there is my wine. I learned yesterday that there is a dietician here on campus that I can talk to instead of using my insurance to go outside. That is good. I am going to call her today. I've also asked a man who lives here to work with me in therapy for a few times until I can get the "14-yo kid who lives inside me" to work with me in getting my eating and drinking under control. I usually have two glasses of wine in the evening. But, they are a lot more than 4oz glasses!

Sweet Pea is currently under restriction in our kitchen when she is awake or when we are not right with her. She is almost potty trained!! And, we have begun hiding treats inside her crate and she goes in there to find them. That is a big improvement. Yesterday, she actually turned around and laid down in it. She didn't stay there, but at least she is getting the idea. Last night, I felt her wake up and I had to go, so I picked her up and put her on the pee pad and she emptied her bladder, and then I went into the proper place for humans and emptied mine! Back to bed for both of us and back to sleep. So cute! When I woke up this morning I found that the pee pad was upside down. Not good. But, at least she went on it. She gets up with dh at 6:00 and he takes care of her. What a man! He takes her out frequently and she has gone potty outside too, though to tell the truth, she would rather chase butterflies and greet all the neighbors. Shih Tzu's have a very restricted pharynx and nasal passage so their coughs are pretty scary. They sound like they are choking, and imitating a train whistle all at the same time. She has been coughing this morning some, but has all her shots now, so I am not worried about it. Just one of the "things" about the breed.

Judy: I am praying for you at this time. I pray that your Dad will meet the angels with little pain or difficulty. I think that's the way we all want to go! But, it doesn't make it any easier for you, my dear. I know that. Grace and Peace to you.

All the rest of you, I love you and am reading along. I can't wait to hear how Barb's doing.

Love, Peg

Kind of late for me to get in here today but better late than never.

Peg: Sorry your feet are so sore...and you're having problems getting the right mind set to start lc again. I know you'll do it when you're ready. We're here for you either way.

You're doing so good on training Sweet Pea. Isn't it just over a week since you've had her? That's fantastic progress.

Alida: Yup...HOT it is. But, we're used to it. When it cools down just a little it's such a relief. I love to get out and work in the garden no matter what the weather. I'm already planning on my next project which means ripping out the lilac hedge at the front of the house. Dh wants me to wait until fall but I want to get started right away so I can plant flowers where the hedge is. When I planted it, I didn't know that it would send runners everywhere including into my grass! It's gotta go.

Judy: ((((huggs)) to you girl. It's such a difficult time for you I know. We're here for you too!!

Heather: I bet you're out working with your hard hat on. Progress? Is this your house you're working on or one for someone else?

Barb: You're missed!

Shelley: You too...come on back girl!

Berta: How's your dh doing? Getting back into your normal routine?

Well, tonight I have to make macaroni salad for about 80 people. Another dinner at the Legion tomorrow night. Last night I was smart and made my desert for the funeral tea that's on tomorrow ...saved me some time tonight. The fellow that passed away married a lady in Hawaii during WW2. Their grandaughters are coming from Hawaii for the funeral and plan on doing the hula for their grandpa one last time. So sad. He had a good life though and lived to 86. Such a sweet man.

Dh is busier than a one armed paper hanger. There is a music festival in Pemberton which is a couple of hours from here. 120 bands!! It's all camping and the traffic coming to our store has been incredible. He doesn't think he'll get home for dinner tonight. That's fine...I can cut the grass and then get busy with my salads and hopefully get them done before Greatest American Dog starts. Have you guys watched that show? I laugh so hard....especially at Tillman the skateboard riding dog.

Okay, time to pack up here and head home. I really didn't want to come to work today so I'm glad the day is over.

I don't know what to say at this point. Daddy seems to be responding to oxygen, steroids, antibiotics and fluid......... He's pumped up with a lot of stuff. I have no idea what will happen when any part of the cocktail might be removed. Apparently there is still danger, but not nearly as dire as they thought two days ago. It appears that his bone marrow is not effectively making red and white blood cells. Tomorrow he is having a bronchial scope to determine if there is some reason for the continued pneumonias in his lower lungs i.e. scar tissue or a tumor of some kind. Even if they find a tumor, there probably won't be treatment for it. He could not handle chemo or radiation. We are pretty much hung out once again waiting to see what happens. We should know more tomorrow.

Thanks for all your caring comments

Wish I could be there to just give you a big hug Judy. It's not easy being the bystander and not being able to do anything. Stay strong and get some rest. We're here for you.

I know the timing is crappy, but I probably won't be posting tomorrow so please try and have a Happy Birthday.

Carpet is to be installed on Aug 5, then hopefully furniture will arrive by mid August.
Pictures pending.

Our very young Marine nephew(same age as DD-31 yrs old), the one I mentioned some time ago that has cancer, is in very bad condition. We will be going to Wichita ASAP.

Hope to be back with my gal pals soon.

Once again it appears that Daddy has beat the odds. During his bronchial scope this morning they suctioned off some fluid and found no evidence of blockages or tumors. He seems to be responding to all his meds, and they will begin getting him up tomorrow for physical therapy. We expect him to be in the hospital until Tuesday or Wednesday. The antibiotic they have him on is not used outside the hospital and they want to get 7 days of the medicine into him. We are going home on Sunday. He is the most resilient human that I have ever known.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

***My SIL is taking me for a mani/pedi for my birthday tomorrow. I'm looking forward to that. DH gave me an IPOD Shuffle earlier in the week. Coupled with the good reports above, it will be a nice birthday.
