| Thanks for starting us off on July, Shelley. Actually, I was surprised to note the date this morning. June has been busy at my place. Right now I'm off to do a different kind of painting....... the roots of my hair. What is it about the warm months that make hair grow faster? Oh well, it's time to get blonde again. Thank goodness I can do it myself.

| Greetings and HAPPY JULY. Shelley, thanks for the start off! Judy, you're right, hair seems to grow faster in warm weather. The furgirls, too, are having their beauty day today. I always say it's their spa day but it's actually stressful. I hover around town until they're ready. Bert, you are likely preparing for an influx, although thankfully you have kids that are helpers. Let them! And hugs for good measure to you! Alida, it's so clear that you are looking forward to your day off with dh. Enjoy. Donna, enjoy your holiday! "OH CANADAaaaaaa" <singing lustily in your honor> Peg, sorry you're so tired these days. What fun to have a visit from Vera (and her mom:laugh). A weekend of furbaby sitting later ought to seal the deal, one way or the other, eh? Barb, have a lovely! Heather, you must be busy with school out and so much happening. Judy, enjoy your painting, in a new venue Shell, MK, Sus, and anyone else my brain has missed, waves. Errands today while the furgirls are groomed, but I hope to start getting the undercoat of wallpaper off the bedroom walls later on. You know, the tedious, messy part.

| Hi gang!! Happy 1st day of the month! It's pretty busy around here with the 3 kids running around. They are having a good time playing in the tent that they made. We won't see M until next week since her Grandparents are taking a small stay at home vacation. We have a little bear holding a picture frame with Charlie's picture in it that we are giving to her in case she misses us. She sure does love her little friend Charlie. - Shelley - Have a great day! - Judy - It's nice that you can save some $$ and dye your own hair. I read about a hairstylists mama in Elle magazine who wouldn't let her beautician son dye her own hair because she said it was a waste of money. He said she did a fine job but it's all in finding the best home dye product. I saw a commercial that said their was a dye that made your hair healthier. Do you know which one that was? - Brenda - Wow $500!!! Have fun spending that $$! |

| Judy, I'm hoping to get some extra value by going to a Talbot's outlet, too. The gal from Talbot's headquarters gave me a heads up that the outlets were getting a big new shipment in mid-August. Just spreading the word

| I plan to make time to hit the outlet while I am in Dallas. You better believe that I will sign up. I also plan to hit the Kirkland's outlet that is relatively close. I still have a blank wall that is begging for some kind of art in the bathroom that we did last summer. Today I got a "Happy Birthday" this month $10 off card from them.

| looking for design help ladies. I've been in the same house for 25 years - I don't know what is 'in' these days. We have pretty much decided on a corn silk (a linen type with yellow tones) for the walls, with white molding and trim. I do NOT want beige carpet. This is through the whole house. What I (and hubby) think we would like is a sapphire blue. I think it will work with everything we have. his recliner is a navy blue with little gold/red 'spots' on it. I have a huge RED couch. I really want the blue/butter color scheme. Its not like I plan to resell this place, so I should just go with what I think would be US. just looking for input from people who have seen what others have done. maybe I'll look at some design sites and see what is 'normal' - even though that isn't really me, is it?

| MK, IMHO like the idea of continuing the corn silk, or a slightly deeper creamy/gold tone in the carpeting for an overall unified, peaceful look. Pull the reds and blues from your great couch and dh's chair to use in accent pieces and accessories. The sapphire sounds lovely, but my concern is that a really strongly colored carpet might be hard to live with after a while and wouldn't be as versatile as well, especially if it's throughout the house. However, if you want to know what I'd do myself--I'd spring for wood floors in a heartbeat, even though it's extra. Wood adds warmth and goes with any color scheme. Especially consider them if you're looking forward to grandchildren's visits or if anyone in your family has allergies

| Hi guys....we're home and I'm soooo glad. On the way home we got caught in a really ugly summer storm. I've never seen rain come down so hard in my life. Thunder, lightning. It was raining so hard we had to pull into a roadside parking area...and there were already 16 other cars there waiting out the worst of the storm. Have to admit I was scared. I'm hoping the rain hit the Fraser Canyon where the first forest fire of the season is raging. It's 60 miles from us so I'm not worried about it getting here..but the canyon is closed to all traffic (not good for our business). We took dmil with us to the Canada Day celebrations. It was terribly hot and her face just kept getting redder and redder. Finally I told dh we had to leave. We had only seen half of the art displays but it was time to leave. I knew she would never complain. We took her to an airconditioned restaurant and stayed there until she looked better. She's looking so frail these days. She told us that her other son hasn't bothered to even call her for almost 2 months..and that all the other relatives haven't called either. I think she's lonely! She had a cataract operation on Thursday also...didn't even tell us. Just went and had it done alone. So sad. Then she told me that she has no feeling at all in her big toe...not a good sign...she's diabetic. I made her promise to go to the dr. and I'll make sure dh follows up on it. MK: I'm with Brenda....hardwood floors in a heartbeat. I absolutely love mine! Wouldn't go back to carpet at all. What fun making all these decisions. Brenda: $500.00!! Oh what I could do with that. Good for you...enjoy. Judy: Hmmm, colouring my hair is on my to do list too. But, I've been putting a prescription on the lumps on my head and I'm not sure how it will react with the dye. I think I'll have to put up with the grey roots for awhile. Rachel: You're not forgotten, sweetie. Happy Birthday for tomorrow!! To everyone else...Hi....I'll be back tomorrow to talk to everyone. It's bedtime!!

| thank you for the input. I will probably go with a more basic carpetting - I have tried for hardwood floors, but DH is just opposed to them. That is one of the things that he really disliked about some of the places we looked. I did some color pasting in Paint with the various color combinations - I'm going to get paint chips and compare with carpet / and my furniture colors today. I have decided against the sapphire blue and am going with a 'hazelnut' which is quite nice and looks good with the wall color I want which is called Pale Silk and is kind of a darker linen color. will look classy, and we can use color in the furniture and decorating to brighten it up. right now we are trying to hold costs on the upgrades - and I'll be there a long time. so, when time to replace the carpeting down the line I'll think about different colors on flooring and walls.

| MK.. how exciting.. I would love the wood floors to, but sometimes you have to yeild the other person living there.. darn. It is so exciting..a new place and it just looks wonderful, we'll all be following along with you and Heather as you design your new homes. Brenda..$500.00 wow....you can do serious damage with that. Judy.. you may have to give up teaching and become a professional painter (NOT). Donna.. you are sure good to mil. She is lucky to have you. I've never had a mil both had died before I married. Roof is almost finished. I think they did a good job, it looks good. It was a recover so hopefully no worries about leaks.. famous last words. DH made it through surgery. He is in ICU and if all went well last night he will go to regular room today. First one comes in tonight.. but, they are staying in a motel 15 miles away. The two in our little town are not to savory. So, actually tomorrow they will be here and tomorrow evening there will be 10 more will be here for dinner, 13 of us all together. I made chicken spaghetti the other night, so that is dinner w/salad and dessert. End of my cooking for this coming week. Hi to all I missed and let's all have a great day .. |

| MK, my initial thought when I read your question about flooring was to suggest hardwood (with appropriate rugs) in the living areas and carpeting in the bedrooms. At least that is what I would LOVE to do at my house. DH is also one of those people opposed to total hardwoods. Our next door neighbors are having their house totally changed over to wood (laminate) in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait to see it, and to have DH see it. It might spur him on somewhat. Right now, I'm pleased that he is considering crown molding for our bedroom....... another project addition. As to your color selection, the pale yellow/golds are very strong now. You are wise to go with the more neutral color for the carpet. Although the blue might be striking for now, I'm afraid that you may get tired of it quickly. And, it possibly would show dirt and wear more that a neutral color. Berta -- so glad your DH got through the surgery. Poor guy! He has really had a hard time.........which of course means that you have, too. Lots of thoughts and prayers for you both. Donna-- As you saw yesterday, it pays to be observant with our elders. They often won't say when they are too tired or too hot, etc. They are afraid that we won't come back or will take them home and not take them out again. Good for you and your DH for checking up on her and being attentive. Time to get up and moving. We aren't leaving until the afternoon, but I still need to pack and organize stuff. If I don't make it back for a while, just know that it is because I am once again covered in paint.
