Okay, Sweet Pea evidently was bitten by something. Not a tick. The Dr. took a biopsy and was able to read it right away. She is fine. I have a bursitis which I could have done during the earthquake. Dr. gave me a steroid shot. Hurt like hejj. But, feels much better now. No problem with vacation.

Vet said we need to get Sweet Pea into obedience training as soon as possible. She needs to know who is the dominant dog in the pack here. Sigh. Okay!! No home schooling for this girl.

Hi y'all... (and that from a gal from 'joisy)...

This'll be a fly-by... keeping up Beck, Day 14 today (Plan for tomorrow)... will write an update tomorrow... sorry if these updates get to be too much - I really need to write it down, part of the accountability!

Things are still not looking good in Georgia - Russian used the cease-fire to rumble into Georgian territory, loot, burn, destroy villages - and are capturing anyone with a military uniform to send back to North Ossetia to put on trial (and presumably kill)... these buggers are NASTY.

Sounds like everyone is busy and happy (more or less!) - I can't write much at the moment but wanted to check in...

miss you all (KY + OK = Rocky Mt fun! ooo, envy, envy, envy!)

    lots of hugs - R

Today's the day. Lily will be operated on today. Blood tests came back and it is definitely the stones in her bladder that are causing the problems. Vet wanted to know if I would like a call just before they start the surgery...NO...call me when it's over then I won't be too much of a basket case. If I could I'd like to be there holding her paw!!

Peg: Awww, sorry Sweet Pea was bitten...spider maybe? Hope she's okay. And, I'm glad that the shot helped. I've heard they hurt like heJJ. Obedience training sounds like it could be fun.

Shell: Oh no....now I have to be jealous all over again that there is a little convergence! Just kidding of course....can't wait to find out the details.

RAchel: We are not tired of hearing what's happening with you on Becks! I just wish I could start my book. There it is with it's bright pink cover sitting all by itself on the table beside my chair in the front room...and no one has opened it. Poor little thing. Soon...I promise!

    Gotta run..boss is here early.

    Good Morning.. almost afternoon.

Hope Lily does ok with her surgery, Donna.

Rachel: Keep up with the Becks, it really is helping. I have read through the first pages.. I think I am ready for THINK

Peg: Obedience training....to teach the puppy who is top dog.. that's gotta be you!! Should be fun.. soon off for your trip.

Shel: It's time for a vacation you've been working so hard on your house. Yanno I'm not too far away if you are feeling particularly ambitious.

Thought I would give the house a swift run through with the vaccum .. then I'm going to start World Without End. I do not know if it is in paperback. I have the hard back due to a gift card... Love those gift cards.

DH is still struggling with shortness of breath and occasional chest pain. I really think he's about as good as it is going to get. The main goal was to get the man out of the horrible knee pain from lack of a joint due to the removal of the first artificial joint due to the MRSA & VRE. Good grief it has been a long haul for the last few months. He is doing p.t. but it is really minimal, but anything helps. The big help, it gets me to the gym to work out while he does pt

Supposed to rain here for the next few days.. I need to finish the protective coating on the deck.. but I'm afraid it will rain (and there is that book calling my name)

    Take care all..

Well, Donna.....Now I'm getting worried. Please check in and let us know.

Judy: How're you doin' on this, your last weekend of freedom?

So good to hear from all of you.

We leave Sat. for our rollicking good time on Orcas Island (San Juan Chain in Puget Sound) with Bob's children, only one of which really likes me. Fun, huh?

But, I do have Sweet Pea's care all taken care of and we are slowly getting the house ready to have someone in it for a week. I still haven't told the boys. I'm such a chicken.

I looked over the website for those trainers and it looks good. I'm afraid it is going to cost an arm and a leg, but if it will do what the Dr. says, then I am for it. Little Sweet Pea really wants to mind, except when we say something that she doesn't like. No more home schooling for this kid!

I got my artificial nails taken off this morning. You know that I have worn them for 30 years on and off. I just thought my nails needed a rest, and the woman who has been doing them has sloppy business practices. Her salon is spotless and I don't mean that. It's just that she is often an hour late, and I just don't have that kind of time. I got a pedicure while I was there, and now am sporting Navy Blue toenails. Thought they would go well with my jeans.

I'm planning to just take play clothes to Washington State. Sounds as if we are going to be doing a lot of slopping around. Nothing to see but water, I don't think. But, maybe I can improve my tan. I actually don't have a tan. So funny. When in MA, I used that artificial tan stuff. This year, I have just been white. I also have stopped wearing very much makeup. No one here at the home wears it. So, oh well. It feels pretty good, if you want the truth. I think I will just take two pairs of jeans (crops and long ones) and some tops, sweaters, and a sweat shirt. We are going sailing one day, so if you don't hear from me after next Sunday, the 24th, check in with the phone numbers I have given you by email!! Dear dh's son is going to do the sailing of our 17 footer. Of course, I just finished Patterson's book "Sail." Aaaack.

Well, I've put off long enough the reality that I have been totally not eating lc most of this week. No excuses. Just finding it hard. I'm almost there, but almost doesn't count according to Diet Power. Darn!!

    Love you all,
    Peg

Clearly, the cyber gods have it out for me. Once again I was trying to do a long post and the lap top had other plans. This time I got the dreaded blue screen. I think it is time for DH to put the Vista service pack on that computer and see if it won't correct its issues.

Alida -- had lots to say about your wonderful new appliances and driveway
Barb -- commented on you getting to take another trip
Brenda -- thoughts about you meeting your friend and singing. The only singing I do is in the car when I am by myself and the radio is way up.
Berta -- Glad you got your Beck book, and glad to hear that you are benefiting from DH's therapy.
Donna -- still waiting for news (and now starting to worry) about Lily.
Heather -- thinking of you and your hard work. Our city's first finished habitat home of the year had their ribbon cutting ceremony last week.
MK -- glad to hear things are moving along. Who was it you called to pick up stuff? 1-800-getjunk??? Boy I could use a pick up service like that around here.
Peg -- Hard to imagine you giving up the nails and makeup. Girl when you give up the blonde streak, we are going to have to have an intervention. Find some good things to enjoy on the trip. Lexie went to "charm school" through the city's parks and recreation dept. It was once a week for six weeks and only cost $50. She's not totally charming, but it was very helpful.
Shelley -- Peg and I had a mini convergence in Carrollton last year. You and Susie will have a great time.
Now Rachel........... Please don't stop posting about your progress with Beck. I must admit that I have not been a to the letter follower, and have read ahead. Right now I'm about on the 4th week. The book has been absolutely wonderful for getting me back on track and in a positive frame of mind. I lost five pounds the first week (water whoosh) and now have had a slow week. I'll be pleased if it amounts to .5. Whatever it turn out, even if it is nothing, I have met my first goal. I feel so much more in control.

Peg, you asked what I have been doing this last week. Mostly sewing. Over the last couple of week I have made three tops and am mostly finished with a lined black dress. I will finish it tomorrow. I forgot to extend the hem length before cutting and am going to have to go get something to face the hem, but overall I think I am going to like it. Everybody needs a little black dress. Pattern is here, view C. FYI -- I raised the neck about 2". That neckline is a little low for me. I'm not putting the stones on the neck --- mostly because I couldn't find any that didn't cost and arm and a leg.

Tomorrow, I guess I am going to have to break down and go to school for at least a little while. I have to get and burn some CDs for the asst. principal. When I finish the dress, I will need to set my mind to the business at hand. Monday is coming --- ready or not.

Where have I been?? A lot has been happening around here, and I've been neglecting you all.

First of all...awaiting news of Sora, and joining in all the positive thoughts. Donna, you manage so well with many challenges and emergencies.

Judy, mega-sympathies for the computer woes. Maybe for a while you could compose your post in Word and copy it into the forum when you get ready. I always intend to do that--but never do! Lovely dress. Hard to believe school is happening already. Mostly I'm seeing kids out on the athletic fields, doing tryouts and training.

MaryKay, all excitement over the move. My DIL swears by the Got Junk people she used in St. Louis. They moved out all the junk, but also advised her about things that might have resale value (her mother's stuff). I never had any stuff like that, so I was pleased to have my household simply carted away.

Rachel, thanks for the book recommendation. I'll definitely get that. We are of course following the news of Georgia--a local family has children there, visiting relatives. Of course they are fit to be tied.

Peg, I've given up wearing make-up, too, except for a little mascara when I want to have eyes. On special occasions, I do the full face, and it makes me feel glamorous. I'm sure the Puget Sound will be beautiful, and hope the family interactions will be cordial.

Alida, I'll look forward to inspecting that new driveway soon!

Off to the beach tomorrow. The house has internet connectivity, so I might be able to sign on from there. If not, you know I'll be basking in the sun, and enjoying a great family time with my sister and her bunch. I don't think there's a hurricane headed that way at the moment. But I'll keep an eye out.

    Take care of you!

I'm so sorry guys...that was thoughtless of me. I should have posted sooner just got so busy. I finally got a call from the vet at 4:30 yesterday telling me Lily pulled through the surgery okay. She was resting comfortably with a morphine drip and they were keeping her overnight. They were to call me this morning and let me know if she was eating and when I could take her home. It's 10:20 now and I haven't heard anything yet. Dh is having fits...first cause he wants to know she's okay, and second cause he wants to leave early to pick up his mom and go to the camping/baseball weekend. I'm still not sure that I can go..it depends on how Lily is doing and what the vet recommends.

I spent last night running around, cutting grass, doing laundry and loading the motorhome...while dh was at the Legion putting up new lottery signage. I was more than a little peturbed at him when he got home...so he's trying to be very pleasing today. I'm feeling a little "used" right now. (and stressed).

Have to cut this short...sorry I will let you know more about Lily when I can. Thanks so much for all the prayers and good thoughts. I do appreciate it.

I'm so glad Lily got through surgery fine, and hoping she is well enough for you to get on your trip. Our babies....

1-800-got-junk was great. Expensive, but great. 2 nice young men came and loaded up the truck (1/2 truck = $350) + we had some computers/tire, etc, and it is extra for that. But they were very nice, quick, and swept up the garage after - and also moved DS giant corner fish tank off to the side for me. Now we are working on second group - but that probably will just stack up until we move out.

DD friend, who will rent the other side is taking some of the things I don't want, so don't have to worry about getting that stuff moved. Big entertainment center I just don't want anymore.

Roof is finished, saw a AC/Heating truck working there today. just moving along....
and got my flight booked for Australia trip in December. SIL has been letting me know my brother is in a depression, enough for meds and that they are telling him to see someone for counseling. Work is stressful, and even though he says it isn't, I think mom's passing is bothering him more than he thinks.
I wish I could be there more for him, but I'm not supposed to know. So I'm going to make it a point to get on yahoo voice and just chat with him as much as possible.
It has been a rough couple of years for DB and SIL - mom passing, both her parents passing, her fathers estate may be big, but also a huge bother to get straigtened out. and they were trying to get pregnant and I don't think it worked. They just waited too long. DB is 55 now.

so, I'm worried about him. I just haven't made time to communicate with him like I should, and I need to. But I am the perpetual hermit.

well, hope things keep going well for everyone. I know I should comment on everything - I do read and think about you all, but coming up with commentary isn't easy for me.

ps. did get the Beck audio book and workbook, also starting to work with someplace called Healthyroads.com. It's a service provided free through hubby's company and they will do phone consultation with a personal health trainer, and physical trainer. just getting started, although have lost 5 lbs just cutting back on the sugar....
