Yup, sure is Friday Hope it's going well for everyone. I'm off to work in an hour or so but have tomorrow WOOHOO off.

MK, even the lawn. How wonderful you'll meet Spring with grass.

Lunch with an old friend and a friend of hers today. Old friend is hoping we'll jell as a trio. We're in the dreaming stages of renting a house for a week in Door County, WI next summer for a women's art/relaxation retreat. Door County is an artsy/scenic/vacation peninsula surrounded by Lake Michigan. $1500/wk rent means we'll need a few more friends, LOL!

Friday at last. Even though this was a short week for me it seemed to drag. I'll be glad to "try" and sleep in tomorrow.

Peg: SP is gorgeous with her new haircut. Does she prance around and show how proud she is of her new look? That's what Sora did when we had her clipped this summer.

Brenda: I think that's hilarious that your dd is going on a holiday with his galpals. Wish dmil would find herself a "someone" to do things with instead of sitting in front of the tv day and night.

MaryKay: Time is ticking and soon you will be in that gorgeous new house. I don't envy you the packing stage though.

Judy: Rough week? Sleep in tomorrow and take a day for you!

Shelley: Still walking...better get it in while you can before the snows start to fly.

Hey....did I miss something here? Where's our Alida? Haven't seen a post from her for awhile. And Rachel...you're missed too!!

Not much happening here...just counting down the time until I can go home. I'll try to get back in here tomorrow...but not promising.

Howdy to everyone!! Took me a bit to catch up around here. Been busy with the kids and worksite. Trying to get in exercise during the day too. Must take care of myself in this busy time so I don't get depressed by my pants getting snug. Seem to have stalled right now in weight loss but DH winning makes him feel good. Being stubborn I'm glad that this is happening to me rather then him because I won't give up. I hate to lose especially to a man.
-
Barb - Glad to hear that your dad's operation was a success!! / Hugs and prayers to you and your family. My Pastor who was a Pastor for 33 years said the hardest funeral he ever had to do was in regard to a baby. He could barely speak through it and he barely knew the family. His heart just broke. I can't imagine their pain but again a prayer will be said. I can imagine it will be many days before the sun seems to shine in the lives of those who were close to little James. / Hope you have a great time Saturday. Congratulations on being a lucky winner of the Formalist Poetry! Wowee woman, that is really cool.
-
Shelley - Hope you are feeling better and that URI bug passed.
-
Judy - I loved your poem! Straight and to the point.
-
Brenda - At first I thought your dad has two lady friends. I was thinking that this is what my BIL would call a player. lol
-
Peg - What a deep thing questioning the nature of friendship. I watch people and it seems like people have others around for them. What can they do for me? Ugh! That is a sad thought. I personally think of it as an unspoken bond that you would go through anything with them and except them for their mistakes but love them for them. How did I do? Maybe off on this. lol / Just precious pictures of sweet pea!
-
Donna - Just thinking I need to do the same and switch up my foods. Had a huge weight loss 2 weeks ago when I started Biggest Loser challenge between DH and me but then just stopped.

following along at a distance...
nothing really of significance to add...
(Heather...I didn't have an URI after all....just allergies BIG TIME!!...ugh!)

per my journal entry today:
Quote:
It was pretty darn chilly(48-ish) here this morning when I headed out for my walk. I over dressed(dang it!), but since I always do layers, I was able to turn down my street about the 2nd or 3rd mile, and pitched my polar fleece vest on the porch and kept on going.

walked: 83 min/ 5.19 miles/ 288 cal burn/ 10,975 fitness steps
total fitness miles to date for October = 55.40 miles

Got some art hung this afternoon in the living room. It's amazing how much difference having *stuff* on the walls makes. LOL! DH sure didn't want to put *holes* in the walls...sheesh. It's not like I'm going to change my mind, for Pete's sake, and besides, I was the one who patched and sanded and painted in the first place, wasn't I???????? And, in the event I should change my mind and want to move stuff again, I have all the supplies to patch/repair, sand and paint it again, so I rest my case!!! Dot! End of discussion!!! LOL!
to all...
everyone be well!

Oh Shel! I just love the pic of Kassie on your page. Makes me miss my Deuteronomy! But, my SP is doing very well. I'm not. I have a cold which is quickly turning into bronchitis with my COPD. Also, I have to have surgery again on my left foot. The implant isn't growing right. He's going to take it out. Two weeks from now. I am not really suffering. Just laying low.
Peace, Peg

Sorry you are not feeling well, Peg. And, BIG bummer on another foot surgery; bless your heart, darlin'! I hope your URI is gone by the time your surgery rolls around. Have you seen your doc for the URI/bronchitis??? You know what I'm thinking!!!...

I had a couple of *visual* migraines this morning...ack! So, I did not fitness walk. I feel like a slug, but my vision was just to wonky, and the nausea was to bothersome besides. blech!

I'm with you, Peg...just laying low, for the day.

over and out.
(((hugs to all)))

This is a quick drop in for me. I'm about to go watch Grey's Anatomy from Thursday. I swear Tivo is the greatest invention ever. This has been pretty much a low key weekend. I finally did the school monogram on a shirt that I have had for over a month, did a little hand repair on the snaps of a jacket and then went shopping. DH had his eyes checked Friday and for the first time ever has to have glasses that are not just readers. It was interesting to see him in the different frame choices. One thing that I can say is that he certainly makes up his mind easier than I ever did. After he went back home I did a tour of the mall. In this town, that's not much of an adventure. We have a pitiful excuse for shopping. I've just about quit even going out there. If I hadn't had a couple of free coupons for Bath and Body Works and and a $10 coupon for Penney's, I probably wouldn't have even bothered. I did buy a pair of pants and a sweater. When I totalled the checkbook after I got home I determined that there is too much month left for the $$ in my checking account. I better lay low tomorrow.

everyone.......... Grey's is calling.

to Brenda! Hope you can do something fun today.

Today is also my sister's bday. She turns 65, and will start making plans for her next hip replacement with the help of Uncle Sam this time. Provided there IS Medicaid after the coming election.

I actually went down to the Liberty Memorial yesterday for the Obama rally. Me and 74,999 other people, according to the news. They had a restricted area close up for ticket-holders (volunteers, poll workers, friends, etc.), who had to pass through special security. So we barely got a glimpse of the candidate. We could hear him though, and it was kinda fun to be out with the sign-wavers--it feels like taking part in History. Living in a toss-up state (Missouri) we've been getting a lot of personal attention from both candidates. I couldn't tell you which way the wind is going to blow at this moment--the rural and urban areas of the state have different opinions.

Last night, I dreamed about my mother--she was giving me election advice. This is the first time I remember dreaming about her since she died. S'pose I ought to listen? Nah. Who listens to their mother???

Walk, ride, or crawl--but DO get to the poll this year, whomever you plan to vote for. This is where America really shines--peaceful elections and transitions.

Like so many retirees I've heard from, I'm wondering how I ever found time to work. Or rather, how I ever got anything else done when I had to spend all day every day in an office. I'm more admiring than ever of women (like all of you!) who do it all.

But today is Sunday. Kick back a little, okay?

OH THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!! TANKS A WOT!

I gladly share my b-day with Miss Kassie and Barb's sis, too Jerry and I celebrated yesterday since I was off. Went to our cute and quaint county seat of Woodstock, had dinner at the La Petite Creperie (YUM) in the old court house and went to a revival of Dames At Sea at the opera house (really an old vaudeville venue). It was a community theatre production, hence low budget, but very enjoyable and the crowd was enthusiastic.

Today I worked, and believe it or not, got flowers, cards, balloons, a coffee gift card, and a rousing Happy Birthday To YOU sung by the residents. Just blows me away since I've only been there a few months. Everyone has been very kind there.

Jerry's first day at his new job is tomorrow. He's a tad anxious but I think he'll do just fine.

Peg, dang! Really sorry about your needing another foot surgery. Poop. Are they going to do something different this time?

Shelley, hope Kassie is having a lovely Birthday and is being treated like the Princess of Kitties that she is. More than that, though, I hope her Mom is feeling ok and not getting a full blown migraine.

Judy, sometimes I think I'd just love to live in a less urban area----then I remember that even though I'm not a born shopper I'd sure miss having options when I do want choices. Still, maybe it's better for your checkbook. So, do you like your dh in glasses?

Barb, at work we got a stack of new voter registration cards in the mail for some of residents. This election seems to be attracting new voters of every age Interesting on a more personal note, dh registered to vote a couple of weeks ago--the first time since we lived in New York 30 years ago. Your Mom giving election advice in a dream? Wow!

Well hugs to you all. Hope the weekend has treated you well!
